I really appreciated the attention to helping me understand what my (new) insurance covered and didn't covered - very clear about the cost of the crown I have to have. I also really appreciated no attempts to sell cosmetic procedures after I'd marked "not interested" on the intake.

Negative experience: I’ve been a patient here for a couple of years, and until recently I’d only had two negative experiences. I believe in second chances, so I continued coming back, hoping those incidents were isolated. Unfortunately, the most recent experience was completely unacceptable. I scheduled my appointment six months in advance, as I always do, because my schedule can be hectic. On the morning of my appointment, I received a call from an unknown number around 6:00–7:00 a.m. I saw the voicemail about an hour later and immediately called back, only to be told that my appointment had been canceled because I didn’t “confirm” it. I have never been required to confirm appointments in the past — I schedule them and show up as planned. To make matters worse, the staff member I spoke with was very rude and informed me that my time slot had already been given to someone else. This made it clear that my appointment was canceled simply to accommodate another patient. When I asked about the next available appointment, I was told it would be another month or two away. This was extremely frustrating and disappointing. It’s not okay to inconvenience a long-time patient or make them feel unimportant just to prioritize someone else. After this experience, I’m actively looking for a new dental office.

She Was very knowledgeable, thorough, and explained her process. The dentist was also very thorough, and explained things that needed to be done In order to maintain my oral health. Positive experience: All of the staff at Magic City Dentistry were very cordial, accommodating, helpful and professional! The office decor and waiting area were smartly appointed! My only concern was that it seemed to take an awful long time for my mother’s teeth cleaning.

Negative experience: Most recent visit wasn’t a great experience. I had a different hygienist than the last few times I’d been there. She was rough and not very careful and didn’t appear to care that she was hurting me. I know she was new because she didn’t know the procedures or even the doctor’s name. Pricing for some of their services is higher than other offices, but my past experiences went so well that I didn’t mind paying a higher price. In fact, I had just bragged about the last time I went there that the hygienist was great, and was very precise while scraping to ensure she wasn’t poking my gums. This visit was very disappointing, if the next experience is the same I’ll be finding a new office.

Fantastic experience: I had a great experience at Magic City Dentistry this morning for a cleaning. I've been searching for a new dentist in the Birmingham area, and I am glad I chose this practice. The staff is kind, the space is beautiful, unique, and well decorated, and the cleaning was so easy and completely without pain (Great job, Q!). I enjoyed talking with my hygienist, but there are also screens in each room with Netflix if you prefer to zone out during your proceedure. Dr. Carson was great, taking time to answer several questions I had after he examined my teeth. Glad to find my new dentist in Birmingham!

Fantastic experience: The VERY BEST dentist office ever. I had never been to a dentist, and after being mugged yrs earlier I went in for a tooth removal. This dentist, and his team were beyond AMAZING. I was terrified of the dentist. Not after this. The most wonderful caring people ever. I've always told people about your practice, and should have rated you so long ago. We don't live in the area anymore, but if we were within driving distance we sure would be there. If you're Leary of the dentist or getting your teeth cleaned consider this office. They are the very best people.

Fantastic experience: For the most part, I had a very positive experience ☺️, although I had to pay $180 for a teeth cleaning because they do not accept hmo, and my dentist Jeffrey Gilbert retired. Overall, I received a good teeth clean, the dentist was nice and funny, I liked the x-ray tech too and the environment was pleasant.

Fantastic experience: Warm friendly welcome , Dental hygienist was very friendly and we had no great conversation.and the cleaning went well . Then all of a sudden the Doctor came in very comically cutting backflips and flaying his arms around very similar to Will Ferrel . He started talking to about my teeth in a John Wayne voice . He then shook my hand and went on about his work. Before I left the hygienist gave me a bag with a card for my next appointment and a tooth brush and some floss. Shen then started singing and dancing her best rendition of TLC’s “Waterfalls” . Overall a great experience..

Fantastic experience: This practice has almost completely eradicated my fear of dentists! I went an embarrassingly long time without seeing a dentist because of my anxiety about it. But since I started using MCD, I almost look forward to dentist appointments! I have NEVER had an iota of a bad experience here. All of the Dental Assistants, office staff, and Dr. Carson (I haven't seen any of their other dentists) have been the friendliest, least judgemental, most understanding people! Dr. Carson is genuinely kind, funny and relatable. The office aesthetic is modern and very "chill." They play great music and even have a well-thought-out Spotify playlist. It feels so bizarre for ME to say this about a DENTIST'S OFFICE, but it's almost fun. My worst visit there was the first dentist visit I'd had in almost a decade and I had to get a bridge and root canal (my firsts). Even that experience was far better than routine visits I've had literally anywhere else. I cannot say this enough: if you have dental office anxiety, THIS IS YOUR PLACE. They're truly amazing.

Positive experience: Dentist was polite and thorough. However, the staff was a bit unorganized.

Fantastic experience: Great timing for me getting my teeth cleaned on 8/20 because of my bleeding teeth. I was very pleased with the whole process and it was thorough Unfortunately I cannot proceed with the bridge work due to the cost. Last year Dr. Gilbert did a 3-tooth bridge for $1650 and at his new practice the price for a similar 3-tooth bridge soared to $3014. That is over 82 percent increase in price. I want to thank Dr. Gilbert and his team for the great work I have received since 2018 and I wish everyone a good future.

Fantastic experience: If I could give this office 10 stars I would. The staff dont just do their job they enjoy what they do. Most people say I hate the dentist but I love it here. Dr Pruitt was amazing but the fact I had Pressley's warm and cuddly presence just made it outstanding. All I kept saying was I love it here! Great work great office. Be sure to check them out!! Oh and this was my first visit.

Fantastic experience: I called for an appointment with Magic City Dentist on a Wednesday, got in the very next day and from scheduling, visiting, receiving my treatment with Dr. Carson, to being escorted to leave, I felt like a Movie Star! Everybody was so polite and attentive to my needs!! Shout-out to Cherry, Shae and the young assistant who took me to the back for treatment. (I'm sorry I cannot remember her name, but I do know she was sooooo sweet. After getting me prep, she had to leave early for an appointment of her own.) Dr. Carson is the doctor to see for your procedure!! He has the best bed/ seat side manner! Dr. Carson explained everything in detail from before procedure, during and afterwards!! The office is very nice, very clean, and aesthetically pleasing! I recently had a dental procedure. I had to have a root canal and crown done on one of my teeth. I was very anxious about it, being that it was my first one but Dr. Carson and his team took great care of me! The procedure was a breeze and I have minimal pain. I would highly recommend this team to anyone! Thank you guys for being so awesome!

He educates you about the different possibilities of what may be going on in your mouth, and doesn’t rush through your visit or assume through details like many burnt out medical professionals tend to do. Fantastic experience: New patient. Positive experience. The environment has a very welcoming and relaxed vibe. Good music playing, very welcoming staff, professional and relaxed attitude. Went through standard new patient process of initial x-rays, etc. w/no issue. The technician explained the process (was there to eval. a cracked tooth) the dentist would go through. Met the dentist, performed evaluation, explained the situation by use of the x-rays to make sure I clearly understood options (bonus points). Procedure was quick and straight forward. Great "chair-side manner" by the dentist. Would recommend Magic City Dentistry without hesitation.

Fantastic experience: I have been going to MCD for years and continue to return because it's always been a good experience. I started with Dr. Sollenberger and now see Dr. (Carson) Pruitt. I have not experienced any of the issues I've heard about on the grapevine. The work they've done on my root canals and fillings have been excellent. And the work from the hygienists on my cleanings have always been smooth and top notch.

This was mostly because my hygienist was the best I have ever had--gentle, meticulous, and kind--but several other things contributed significantly to the experience: - Intake was smooth thanks to responsive administrative staff and online intake forms that can be filled pre-visit - They got me in much sooner than anticipated thanks to a cancellation - The wait when I arrived was shorter than anticipated - The facility is clean and feels very intentionally comfortable - Dr. Carson was pleasant Like many who have gone a bit too long since a visit to the dentist, I was quite apprehensive, but my experience with Magic City Dentistry so far has vastly exceeded expectations. Keep up the good work!
