Fantastic experience: This place is great! I hadn't gone to the dentist in YEARS and got my first cleaning in a while done with Cam Newton whos a hygienist here and it was a great experience. No pain, great individuals, genuinely not a single complaint. Also got a filling done here by Dr. Shawn Hallett and it went without a hitch, they answer questions you have, you get taken care of! Would highly recommend people visit!

Fantastic experience: I had a great experience at Gentle Dental in Somerville for a root canal procedure. The entire team, from the front desk staff and dental hygienists to the dental assistants and doctors, consistently demonstrated professional and excellent behavior, making every single step of the process pleasant. This was my best dental experience to date; nothing bothered me throughout the entire visit, and I left this clinic completely satisfied. The front desk staff were easy and quick to reach, and I want to highlight Gabi and Alex for being incredibly helpful with scheduling and documentation. I was in the care of Dr. He and Dr. Hallett, and I truly appreciate their skill. Dr. He did a phenomenal job on my tooth; he is incredibly kind and detail-oriented, taking the time to explain every single step. Beyond that, he is very well-informed, I had a pleasant one-to-one conversation with him that was extremely delightful. He even went above and beyond by following up the day after my procedure to check if I was experiencing any pain. I was also very impressed by Dr. Hallett’s honesty and professionalism throughout my care. It’s rare to find a dental office that combines such high-quality care with such a responsive, friendly, and dedicated team. I would definitely go back to this office and highly recommend them!

They told me what i needed, gave me the treatment plan breaking down the costs after insurance payment and let decide if I can actually afford to do the treatments. The dentist was very nice and the assistant and all staff were too.

Each and every visit I have had has been pleasant. No long wait times. The talk through process of the teeth cleaning is exuberant. For anyone that’s frightened of a deep clean…don’t be! From start to finish has been nothing short of A+ work.

Fantastic experience: I have been getting dental work done at Gentle Dental Somerville for years; the dentists and dental hygienists are the best.

Negative experience: This practice is seriously lacking in punctuality and professional service. Both the dentist and the periodontist have made me wait more than twenty minutes past my scheduled appointment time. During my last visit I was charged prior to the procedure and for the incorrect service. A week later I called to confirm the refund only to be told that the ticket had not been submitted. I am still waiting for a nearly $750 refund. As of today, two weeks after the appointment, I have not received my refund and my bank has no record of one being issued. The practice sent me a screenshot that had no information, not even my full name or the amount, indicating that this was proof the refund had been initiated last week. Still no resolution.

Fantastic experience: I really enjoyed talking to Ikshita, Dr.Hallot and Gabrielle. They were all very nice, thoughtful, patient, accommodating and professional. Dr. He is my dentist and because he wasn’t there Dr. Hallot (I think that’s his name, sorry!) saw me, and he was super good and kind. He made good recommendations and will notify Dr. He, who I also like. I highly recommend coming to the Gentle Dental on McGrath Highway. Super nice, efficient, and excellent dental services and spirit of hospitality!

Carmen at the front desk is always so nice every time we visit. Ms. Ishika Patel is an amazing hygienist very thorough and the dentist on duty was fantastic.

Dr He conducted a thorough examination and identified a crack in one of my teeth that will require a crown. Preventive treatment was provided, and a follow-up appointment has been scheduled. Thanks to Dr He for the excellent and gentle care.

Fantastic experience: This spot is terrific. As someone who has moved 5x in the last decade, I have experienced a few different dentist offices. I have been coming here for 3 years and had positive experiences each time. Cameron the hygienist is personable, kind, and very informative. He actually makes your cleaning fun. Dr. He is a quality doctor who takes the time to explain things and provides clear guidance.

Negative experience: I had a very frustrating experience with Gentle Dental that completely wasted my time. Before booking, I carefully read reviews. Most people talked about the quality of dental work, and one mentioned issues with appointment handling. I assumed that by booking online, I could avoid that problem. Since my visit was urgent due to a broken tooth, I even called the clinic a day in advance to confirm everything. The agent pulled up my insurance information, checked everything, and confirmed that I was all set. Based on that confirmation, I canceled three important work appointments to make sure I arrived on time. However, when I got to the clinic, the front desk staff suddenly told me that my insurance is not accepted there. This is completely unacceptable. They had every opportunity to verify this before my visit, especially during the phone confirmation, but failed to do so. As a result, I not only delayed urgent dental care but also lost three previously scheduled work commitments. If they had done their job properly, I could have booked another clinic in time. I strongly advise anyone considering this place: pay close attention to the all reviews. This is a serious issue, and it can cost you both time and important commitments.

Fantastic experience: I am currently undergoing treatment with Dr. He, and after visiting several different dental clinics, he was the doctor I ultimately decided to trust with my dental journey. Dr. He is very gentle, professional, and detail-oriented. He took the time to explain everything clearly, which really helped me feel comfortable and confident about my treatment. From the very beginning, I felt a strong sense of trust. The front desk staff and dental assistants were also very kind and supportive throughout the process. Fantastic experience: Dr.He was hands down the best dentist I’ve had. Coming from someone who frequently visited the dentist during my childhood and is terrified of dental offices. He did a pretty tricky filling for me and it literally felt nothing has changed after the anesthesia wore off. The procedure was also very quick and painless. He is also extremely knowledgeable and gave me some advice on finding a good dentist as I was moving away. Followed his advice and am very happy with my current dentist.

From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed and at ease. The office is clean, calming, and has a very friendly atmosphere. Dr. He is not only highly skilled, but also incredibly gentle, patient, and thorough. He took the time to explain everything to me, answered all my questions, and made sure I felt comfortable throughout the entire procedure. His calm and confident demeanor really helped ease any anxiety I had. The extraction itself was so quick and painless — I couldn’t believe how easy it was! Nancy was also amazing — warm, professional, and attentive. She made me feel cared for from start to finish and worked seamlessly alongside Dr. He. You can really tell they make a great team and genuinely care about their patients. I left the clinic feeling relieved, happy, and so impressed by the entire experience. Negative experience: I made an appointment for a cleaning. The woman who is spoke to on the phone seem to have trouble understanding English. She asked me 5 times to spell Bonnie. Every question required me to repeat myself over and over. She said that since I was a new patient I would have to pay $79 for xrays. I have insurance, but insurance only covers them every 5 years, and she said the dentist required them. I agreed to pay. When it was close to my appointment time, I couldn't remember what time the appointment was for, so I called to ask. She told me I didn't have an appointment scheduled. I again had to repeatedly spell Bonnie for her. Repeatedly give her my date of birth, ect. After several times telling her my name was Bonnie, she asked me if my name was Phill! She then asked if it was a man I talked to last time to book the appointment. I said, no, it was you. She finally booked me an appointment for the next day. I am on vacation this week and out of town. I drove an hour to get to this appointment. When I got there, I was told by the male at the front desk that my appointment was for the next day. I could tell by the sound of her voice that the woman sitting next to him was the woman who screwed up the appointment. I said to him that she was incompetent. He said he would talk to the dentist to see when they could get me in, but that it couldn't be today. I said no, cancel my appointments, I will find another dentist, and then I walked out. If a practice can't even get competent support staff to answer phones and book appointments, God only knows what else would go wrong.

Fantastic experience: My wife and I have been patients of Gentle Dental in Somerville for a few years now and have always had excellent dental care from everyone that’s been involved with our treatment. Dr He is very meticulous and I would say a perfectionist at his profession. And when it comes to dental care, that’s a very good thing. The Gentle Dental staff working the front of the house are so polite professional and friendly I refer to them as friends. Before I met Gentle Dental I used to dread going to the dentist. Now I actually look forward to it.

Fantastic experience: I called in with an extremely painful tooth and was offered a same day visit with Dr. Kim. She assessed the tooth and made a decision to remove an old crown in order to do a thorough root canal. Her clinical judgement and thoughtful approach inspired confidence. The client team representatives at the front desk showed a lot of empathy, even offering me a blanket during my 2 hour long procedure. They also made the billing process easy to understand. I was so pleased with my experience here that I switched my care from another provider to Dr. Kim and the Somerville team. I highly recommend this office.

Fantastic experience: I came into the office for an emergency appointment for tooth pain, Gentle Dental was able to see me the same day. I came into the office already crying and panicking from dental anxiety, and the staff was so caring and kind about it, they took me through one step at a time and were incredibly helpful at putting me at ease. When I expressed that I had not been to the dentist in years and was nervous about the rest of my teeth, the doctor changed my visit to a full exam and didn't charge me extra. The doctor was also extremely gentle in explaining the work I still need done on my teeth. Getting my tooth pulled was as painless and easy as possible. Also, in the over two hours I was being helped, the front desk called my insurance company and resolved the issue I was having with them. Just an overall great experience. Special shoutout to the dental hygienist Erika who made me laugh through the tears.

Walked in to learn how to become a new patient and felt like what I asked didn’t make sense and the 3 staff that were there looked at me like I had three heads. They did give me a business card but off the back it felt like when I walked in I was interrupting whatever they had going on. So I won’t be coming back

Fantastic experience: i just started coming here and i love it! everyone is so nice and so welcoming! i’m incredibly self conscious about my teeth and felt judged by most offices i have went to. but here they really do take their time to talk to you about your teeth and make you feel like getting your perfect simile is achievable! Robert has also been amazing!! he’s so kind, reassuring, and patient!! he takes his time in figuring out what the best path is for you and even looks for less invasive ways!! the front desk staff are very sweet and even took time out of their days to have genuine small talk with me as i was leaving (i wish i got her name). during my first appointment i also had an amazing hygienist, (i wish i had her name too, but i know she’s a leo!) she was so funny and didn’t make me feel bad about the build-up under my permanent retainer. i am truly glad to have found a dentist office that i feel comfortable in!

Negative experience: The practice could not figure out my insurance situation and gave me conflicting information. Furthermore, the dental hygienist was not informative. Lastly, the general dentist was rude and also not informative. They don't seem to know what they are doing here.

Fantastic experience: Firstly, they send you “gentle reminders” of your appointment to ensure that you don’t miss it. Secondly, the doctor called me the night before just to confirm everything with me. Felt very valued. And then on the day, everything was done so professionally and Dr Samantha Kim thee dentist! I left with knowledge of my next steps etc. I am beyond impressed. Even the ladies at the front desk! 100/10 Thank you guys and please keep it up.

Positive experience: Update: My issue has been resolved, thanks to Dr. Raymond He's help. I have no complaints about the quality of the treatment. Dr. He is very professional and thoughtful toward patients. I only hope that the incorrect billing issue caused by the billing department will not happen again in the future. _______________________________________________________________ I had a treatment with them in February 2023. I immediately paid the portion that was not covered by my insurance, and everything seemed fine. However, in May 2024, they reached out to me, asking me to pay over $2,000 for that treatment. The statement they sent was different from the one I received in February 2023. After several discussions and email exchanges, they assured me they would fix the issue. But today, I received a bill stating that I still owe the $2,000, which should have been covered by my insurance. No one from them is there helping me to solve my problem.

They make sure you are comfortable and listen well to your concerns. I felt at ease, very comfortable in a space I was never comfortable with. My smile is perfect again. The receptionist, Carmen, has a wonderful personality. I choose Somerville Gentle Dental over all my other experiences. The staff exceeds my expectations. Best decision to visit there.

I could not recommend Gentle Dental Somerville enough - the staff is incredible and the service that I have received has been very high quality. Dr. He has gone above and beyond to ensure that I have been happy with my procedures and ensure that I have received the best care possible.

Fantastic experience: I've been going to Gentle Dental Somerville for 5 years and cannot say enough good things about the practice. The staff is friendly and professional--from the front desk to the dental assistants to the dentists. I have since moved to Medford and there is a closer Gentle Dental location, but I continue to drive to the Somerville practice because of how great they are. I get twice a year cleanings and have been fitted for a replacement retainer after losing my previous one. All services have been smooth and I appreciate that they have some appointments after 5 PM--as it can sometimes be difficult to get out of work before then.

She is thorough and gives your teeth a really great cleaning and listens to any concerns you may have. Also the two ladies at the front desk, Priscilla and Carmen are just so pleasant and very helpful, when it comes to checking in for your appointment and checking out and scheduling your next appointment. If you are looking for a great dentist and great hygienist, I highly recommend the Gentle Dental location in Somerville.

Fantastic experience: Everyone in Gentle Dental was very attentive and nice. My pet peeve about dental clinics is there after your money. They didn’t pressure you and made sure you know the cost and showed you where the damage was and why. They made sure they addressed all your concerns, whether its cost or the damage of the tooth, which I appreciate. Even if you weren’t a good patient at caring your teeth, they kindly reminded you what’s needed to maintain healthy teeth. They also use AI to help with the assessment of the teeth, which was good to know that this technology exists for teeth. To summarize it, I definitely recommend this dental clinic!

My co-workers kept telling me about the Gentle Sent Me in Somerville on McGrath Highway. It took some time to convince my husband and to build the courage but we did an appointment and went. The first person we met was Pricila Silva she took her time explaining all the details about coverage prices and the work they do. We left feeling comfortable knowing all the details. It's been 4 Months and we couldn't be happier with our beautiful teeth and the friendship we have built with all of them. I can honestly say that they put a bright smile on our faces. Fantastic experience: Great customer service They go above and beyond. The dentist is outstanding, very caring, very knowledgeable. Explains to you in a way that you can understand. I would give them a 10 stars. His assistant works so well with him. She’s great I would recommend this office to anyone that is looking for great service and for dental procedures well done.

Fantastic experience: I am super grateful for the care we received from Dr. Raymond He at this site. My 88 year old mom lives with me this year. Had a dental accident more than a month ago, she had some trouble with solid food. I contacted Dr. He and he scheduled an emergency appointment for my mom ASAP. After consulting with me and mom, we all agreed that extracting the teeth with cavity is the MUST. However, extracting broken teeth for an elderly is nerve wracking. Dr. He was extreme thoughtful before the procedure. He was super professional and extremely patient during the procedure. He monitored mom's blood pressure constantly and checked with mom regularly through the whole process. At the end, the procedure was super successful and mom said she didn't feel the pain at all. After taking care the bad teeth, Dr. He ordered a partial denture for mom. Finally the partial denture arrived and Dr. He fitted it very patiently with mom today. After several rounds of adjustments, mom feels comfortable with her newly "gained" teeth. Tonight, mom cried out at the dinner table "finally I can taste the food!" It was quite a touching view to witness. Thank you very much Dr. He! Helping my mom to increase quality of her life at this stage of her life means the whole world for me.

The dentist and all the dental staff are just as good as the office staff. If you are nervous about the dental work or not this is the place for you. Negative experience: Hello, I have completed braces treatment (started in Saugus and completed in Somerville) and is now going for implant at GD Saugus. I would like to start off with a positive one. During my consultation visit, one of the orthodontists (who used to work at GD Saugus) suggested they pull out one of my teeth and close the gap. However, at my second visit, I saw Dr. Kotak and she suggested that we make room for my teeth instead of pulling a healthy one. So, thank you for saving my healthy tooth! However, I had an unpleasant experience after they took out the braces. I asked for permanent retainer (I forgot its technical name) the day they took out my braces and paid for it. However, they said they don't have the material and will do it at my next visit. My doctor went on a maternity leave and the doctor who was subbing for her told me to wait for her to get permanent retainer done. I wore my retainer as told (first day and night, and then only on nights and have not skipped a single night until Sept 20th.) That was the first day of my implant treatment. I also had an appointment with my ortho on Oct 2nd. I couldn't wear my retainers because of stiches on my lower jaw and didn't know my teeth would shift in 10 days! When I brought this up, the orthodontist got really defensive and blamed me for not wearing it. I kept telling her that I couldn't because of stiches, didn't know it'd already shift in 10 days, AND they should have done the permanent retainer when I ask on the day they took out my braces or within a few weeks. My doctors, assistances, and office crew knew I was going for implant after I completed my braces treatment. That was the plan all along. I should have been warned about it and told how I can still wear my retainer while healing (e.g. cut the last part of retainer or sth) or get my permanent braces (instead of getting delayed for months even after I made the payment) BEFORE the implant treatment. I felt really not understood by my doctor and even worst, were blamed.. In summary, there is a lack of communication between staff, and also I truly dislike to not be able to visit a doctor any day but only can go on first or third Monday of every month type schedule!

Fantastic experience: I've gone in for a cleaning and a filling. In each visit the customer service was superb, from the kindness at the front desk to the dental hygienist who was kind and outgoing, and lastly, Dr. He answered all my questions after the procedure. I was also shocked by how affordable it all was, I will definitely be coming back.

Negative experience: I prefer to give this dentist no stars at all. Don't waste your time and money. Don't fall for the $57 new patient SCAM. The staff at the front desk said I was down for a cleaning. The only reason why I made the appointment was for a cleaning and they had me believe I was getting a cleaning. Instead they just took x-rays and then tried to charge me $600 for a cleaning. The dentist was rude as well. They lied. I specifically asked her did my appointment include a dental cleaning. She said yes but it was all a lie. They lied to get money. Don't fall for it. It is a money scam and they should be reported to the Better Business Bureau.

Negative experience: i saw 2 of their dentists. Please be advised this place profiles people for race and gender so if your hair is nappy avoid. if you do go make sure you keep all your records. They are all about money, they will cause a problem and leave it if you don't hold them accountable and make you a patient for there greed. when they get caught in there tracks they will try to cover up. keep your records and take caution they will try to take advantage of you if you don't monitor them. get second opinion and good luck bunch of creepy dentists here

Fantastic experience: Had a very nice periodontist appointment here. Was seen right away, and Dr. Hoffman and Victoria were professional and clear in their recommendations. Above and beyond was Carmen, who was extremely attentive when I called for an appointment the other day, fit me in immediately, and then somehow - despite the hundreds of people I'm sure she has spoken to since - remembered my name. She was beyond warm, and really made my day. Thank you to all!

Negative experience: My wife and I used to love Gentle Dental and they used to be convenient and flexible with timings and charge fairly. We have been going here for 5 years until a management / admin change. I have decent health insurance and have been trying to resolve a bom for the last 6 months but to no avail specially with the new management coming in. The amount itself has changed in last 1 month from $499 balance to $350 to back to $400 and all I’ve been doing here is preventative dental cleaning which I was told was all covered under health insurance. If this is the service of new management here and non consistency with pricing then my family will be moving out of Gentle Dental shortly. Beware with change in rates and pricing. I certainly hope they resolve it seeing this but only time will tell..
