Fantastic experience: The manager is amazing and has such a great team! Everyone at the Kendall Sq location is so welcoming, kind, and professional! Such a comfortable and inviting environment, that I highly recommend!

Negative experience: This place is a scam. I had my first appointment to do a cleaning, and they tried to up sell me on a deep cleaning ($180), remove wisdom teeth ($734), and Invisaline (probably thousands of $). Sir, I'm a 50 year old man. I don't need invisaline. And, they didn't even do the cleaning. Complete waste of time.

Fantastic experience: Maybelline was incredibly kind, sweet gentle. I just asked for her to be my preferred hygienist. This is a great practice here I’ve been coming for years and it’s always amazing service.

Positive experience: I’ve been coming to Tend Kendall since it opened. At the beginning, the quality of care was unmatched; skilled dentists, friendly receptionists, and lots of attention to detail. I had several fillings and crowns put in, and there was a period where I was going to the dentist all the time and really wasn’t all that stressed because the service was so great. Over the last year, however, I’ve started to notice a decline. They haven’t offered me Netflix or headphones (one of their big marketing strategies), the hygenists are less friendly and the receptionists seem miserable. It’s still very clean and accessible, but the friendly touch has definitely been lost.

Negative experience: My review is NOT a reflection of the wonderful people that I had care for me at the Cambridge, MA location. TEND IS THE WORST DENTIST OFFICE TO WORK WITH. DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO WASTE HOURS AND HOURS OF YOUR LIFE DEALING WITH INSURANCE FRAUD. I have been battling with the Tend billing office for 15 months now. The first couple of appointments I had, they billed correctly. They JUST billed me and no one else. For the next 3 visits after that (in early 2025), they not only billed my insurance under my name but they ALSO billed my mom, the insurance subscriber, who lives in a different state and was never a patient there!!! So essentially they got paid TWICE for one patient. This meant problems for my mom as well as we had reached our limit for the year and she had to pay for her procedures OUT OF POCKET. We spent hours and hours putting together an appeal to submit to my insurance to get the claims reversed. Finally, they reversed the claims under my name BUT STILL HAD BEEN PAID UNDER MY MOMS NAME. I switched to my Fiances insurance and we hadn't really thought of it UNTIL I got a $150 bill April 2026 for JANUARY 2025!! I have now been on hold for 2 hours to call and explain to them that they got paid, albeit under my moms name (WHICH IS THEIR MESS UP), but they got paid for my visits. I moved out of Massachusetts and will NEVER be going back and they continue to haunt me.

Negative experience: Booked my appointment a couple months in advance, only to have it canceled the day before because the office said their business hours had changed. When I asked when the hours changed, they told me it had been a couple months. If the change happened that long ago, patients with existing appointments should have been notified well in advance—not the day before. Really frustrating experience and a big waste of time.

Fantastic experience: Great environment, everyone who helped me was professional and kind. Got 4 wisdom teeth taken out and procedure and recovery were as good as I could ask for.

Negative experience: I really wish I had read the other negative reviews before coming to Tend Dental in Kendall Square!!!! My advice: STAY AWAY I went in for a routine cleaning, but during the visit I was strongly encouraged to get additional services. I was shown a screen indicating these procedures were covered by my insurance, and based on that, I agreed. After the services were done, I was told they actually weren’t covered and I would need to pay much more than expected, despite telling them beforehand that I am a student and could not afford additional costs. This was in June. Then in August, I went for a follow-up and made it very clear that my insurance was ending and I wanted to settle all outstanding charges. I was told everything was paid, but there was no transparency and they repeatedly declined to provide an itemized bill. Months later, in November, I suddenly received ANOTHER unexpected bill with a new invoice! The lack of clarity and the constant surprise charges have been incredibly stressful and frustrating.

Negative experience: Been coming to Tend for a few years. The quality has dropped dramatically after COVID. I went in for a simple fillings and found out that I couldn’t floss after the filling. So I went in on the second day to fix it, and found out that the doctor made a huge hole in the filling. Everything stuck in it now. Avoid the place.

Negative experience: I went to Tend for an emergency appointment at 8 am on a Monday after a weekend of unedurable tooth pain. Dr. Chandler told me all she could do was prescribe ibuprofen (which hadn't been working) and tell me to tough it out until Friday when they'd be able to extract the tooth. Complete callous disregard for acute suffering.

Fantastic experience: Great dentist! Good care and they have a great location and a nice space. Lots of fancy equipment as well like imagers and handheld x-rays to help them out. The space is very nicely set up and they have a spot to brush your teeth and floss before the appointment even if you want. They do have a good number of hygienists and dentists who rotate through so it is likely that you will see different people from cleaning to cleaning. Their website works well and is easy to send in insurance ahead of time and they send text updates for appointments. I have been going every six months for three years and have really enjoyed it. I would highly recommend!

Negative experience: Avoid this dental office. This business is but a glamorous scam. I regret not reading the many reviews posted here that warn against this dental office. My experience was strikingly similar to what others have described here. I booked a routine dental cleaning and walked out without getting one. It was the most appalling, shocking, absurd experience I had at a dental office. Like others mentioned here, employees try to push unnecessary treatments to extract as much as they can from you. 80% of the visit was pure sales tactics, unabashedly and blatantly. The X-ray staff, the hygienist, the dentist, and even the front desk staff all try to sell a myriad of products, procedures, and follow up visits. Before the upsell, came the sales tactics. They ask when was your last cleaning (as if your teeth are the dirtiest they've ever seen), and scare you into treatments they know are not necessary. When I said I couldn't afford the procedures they were trying to push, they showed me the door (I kid you not). I wasn't even given the chance to get a regular cleaning, which was the service I had booked, the only reason I was there in the first place. Based on what I read, I didn't miss out on much. It might have even been a blessing in disguise.

Positive experience: I recently had some issues with my wisdom teeth so I scheduled an appointment at Tend to have them (all four) removed. Dr. Paul Dyrkacz was great to have as my oral surgeon as well as the dental assistant (didn’t catch her name but she was great at her job). They were very informative, professional, and kind - making sure I was comfortable during the procedure. I was even provided the option to watch tv while I had my teeth removed. The only thing I would say they can use improvement on is the organizational side of things as I wasn’t provided any information prior to my visit that day (Consent Form, Treatment Plan, Pre-visit Instructions). Going in I was a little uneasy but my expectations and level of comfort were exceeded by a long shot. Overall, the experience itself was fantastic.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Shane is the best dentist I’ve ever had! As busy as he is he is very detail oriented, genuine, kind, and caring. He suggested Invisalign to improve the crowding of my teeth in January, but not in a pushy way. I decided to pursue and only have 4 out of 19 trays left. We will decide on refinements next month together although we are both already happy with the results. Flawless experience!

Fantastic experience: Dr chandler is extremely kind and understanding and I really appreciate her patience especially as someone with dental anxiety. Zelaney was so friendly and really took the time to help me understand my coverage and answer all my questions . Great experience

Fantastic experience: I haven’t been back in so long for my invisalign case and Dr. Fraser is so understanding about my treatment plan. Lucas was made my visit comfortable and Zelaine was quick with making my next visits. I’m sad to not see Angie during this visit as she always makes it fun to be here.

Fantastic experience: I struggled with bleeding gums and buildup, but after a gum treatment and great advice from my hygienist, Zizi, the bleeding stopped within a week. The before-and-after X-rays really showed the difference. Very happy with the results!

Positive experience: I adore Dr Aziz. She’s the first dentist to speak positively about my smile and makes solely recommendations for my health and longevity of my teeth rather than nit pick cosmetic things. The hygienists are lovely and take the time to educate you on preventative measures at home without being pushy or judgmental.

Negative experience: Definitely would NOT recommend. Most of my visit consisted of the employees trying to push unnecessary treatments to up-charge you. The cleaning itself was not thorough, lasting only only 10-20 minutes. The rest of the visit was a pure sales push. I’ve had the hygienist, dentist, and even the front desk staff (!!) all try to sell useless trays and procedures. Very scammy.

Negative experience: Really bad. They always try to upsell expensive treatments, while doing a poor job cleaning. Last time the dentist recommended an expensive treatment and put it in my plan but I didn’t follow up, thinking they would mention it this visit. After doing some research and consulting a dentist friend this was clearly not something I needed. this time it’s like they had completely forgotten it, and I didn’t even see the dentist this visit. The hygienist recommended a different expensive treatment instead and then the manager came by to discuss billing, with no consult from the dentist. Will be finding a different provider

Negative experience: Over the past year and a half Tend has continuously committed insurance fraud by filing claims in my name even though l've never been a patient. There have been 7 claims fraudulently filed in my name, and 0 have been fixed. Billing team reassured me that the first 3 claims were resubmitted properly, only for me to call my insurance and find out that they never filed a claim resubmission form, only scribbled some notes on the original EOB about it being the wrong patient. They promised not to submit more claims in my name after the first 2 claims, and then again after the 3rd claim, and went on to submit many more claims in my name. Every time a new claim pops up or the resubmission is denied because it was never correctly filed, I get to speak to a new person by phone or email. There's no continuity of service, and I am point blank told there is no supervisor to speak to me. I'm told a supervisor will call me back, and then they never call. They say they’re going to fix the old claims and stop filing new claims, but they never do. It's impossible to speak to a person that's actually responsible for submitting the claims. I wish I could give them negative stars. My next step is filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, but not sure that will help considering they have a couple BB complaints already that they have not responded to according to the BB website. Because of Tend, I have spent hours on the phone wasting time with their “billing department” and my insurance company. I have no benefits remaining for my actual dentist since Tend’s claims fraudulently used up my benefits. Thus I have unpaid bills at my actual dentist impacting my ability to get care. Tend is an absolute scam. UPDATE: 17 days later, countless phone calls and emails to Tend, and nothing has been resolved. Tend lied and said they fixed the claims, only for me to call insurance to verify and find out they never did. UPDATE 2: Another month has passed with no resolution. Tend is an absolute nightmare. They are pathological liars, continuously telling me they fixed the problem, only to catch them never having resubmitted the fraudulent claims. They promise to call back and never do. It's absolutely impossible to speak to someone responsible for billing. Even my insurance company is unable to speak to someone at Tend who actually does the billing.

Negative experience: Avoid Tend Dental at All Costs I cannot recommend Tend to anyone considering Invisalign or any form of dental care. Dr. Shane has been excellent throughout my treatment. He is thorough, professional, and genuinely invested in his patients. It is frustrating to see someone so capable working for a company this disorganized. I have spent nearly $7,000 on Invisalign and followed every instruction carefully. My primary goal was to correct a single rotated tooth that had relapsed after prior orthodontic treatment. I saw Dr. Shane on June 16 after progressing through tray 28 of 36. At that point, we determined the tooth had enough space to rotate, but it was not responding to the current treatment plan. Dr. Shane recommended I try tray 29 for two weeks to see if it would improve. When it didn’t, I returned on June 26 and he rescanned me for refinement trays to move forward. Since that June 26 appointment, no progress has been made. It is now early August and I have received no new trays, no update, and no timeline. I have been wearing tray 29 for nearly a month and a half. It is deteriorating, full of holes, and has become uncomfortable to wear. I communicated this clearly to the staff. After “checking” twice and confirming that my trays were physically at the office prior to my scheduled appointment, I was notified less than an hour before the visit that the wrong trays had been sent by the lab. Instead of taking accountability or expediting a solution, I was simply rescheduled three more weeks out — as if that was an acceptable response to wearing a deteriorating aligner for over six weeks. There was no urgency, no escalation, and no regard for the impact this delay would have on my treatment. Adding to the frustration, Tend routes all scheduling and communication through a centralized call center. You cannot speak directly with the local office. Even basic requests turn into drawn-out back-and-forth exchanges with someone who has no knowledge of your treatment or any relationship with your provider. I explicitly requested a call from someone in leadership — twice. Instead, I received a generic email more than a week later saying my concern had been forwarded to studio management. No one ever followed up. No one seems to care. This experience is not an isolated case. On my past few visits to the Kendall Square location, I have personally witnessed at least two other patients visibly upset in the waiting area, also due to Tend’s negligence. That says everything about how this place is run. Once this issue is resolved, I will not be returning. Tend is all about polished branding, but behind the scenes is a revolving door of staff, zero accountability, and no real support once they have your money. Dr. Shane deserves to work somewhere that supports both patients and professionals. If you are considering Tend, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. Your time, money, and health deserve better.

Fantastic experience: I love tend! My hygienist Linh is so friendly, informative, and encouraging in helping me manage my regular hygiene routine. I recently saw Dr. Shane for a filling and he was really thorough, patient and explained the procedure very well without rushing me. He also resolved a long term issue I had from a prior dental procedure which has made flossing a lot easier. I would definitely recommend this company, it's the best dental experience I've had to date.

Fantastic experience: I've had 3 great appointments here. My dentist, Dr. Chandler, is lovely, and every hygienist has been as well. They take their time during the appointments and explain things in a way that is easy to understand. It is also a very clean facility.

Negative experience: Amazingly expensive. Moreover, there is a strong lack of transparency. You can't get an invoice directly on site, which is weird. Finally, I had a normal insurance. I showed it to them. Yet, they asked me to send the insurance card by email, even though it did not covers dental. That's amazingly weird. This is really shady.

Positive experience: The assumption that you can have all of your dental needs done in one location fell short for me with Tend. If you’re looking for an upscale dental experience with gift bags, tv access, knowledgeable shared facts in a personalized setting, then Tend is the place. I came for an urgent issue that left me with a referral to an outside provider and waiting hours for a prescription that should have been waiting for me upon my exit from this Tend location. Also don’t expect direct contact with the office.

Fantastic experience: The time between when I first made contact with Tend and when I had my custom night guard in my hand was 15 days, which has to be some sort of record. All for about half the price that other dentists in the area quoted me. The dentist and her hygienist/assistant were very kind, knowledgeable, and prompt. I’m very grateful to Tend!

Positive experience: After posting what was initially a negative first impression, Tend did reach out to me and showed legitimate concern. Even though I didn't receive the services I booked an appointment for, their follow-up and communication is very much appreciated. I will definitely give them another shot in the future.

Fantastic experience: I’ve visited several Tend dental offices in both NYC and Boston, but the Kendall Square location is hands down one of my favorites. I always get a bit anxious about dental visits, but the moment I walked in, the team made me feel so welcome! Kimberly Nguyen, the hygienist who took care of me, was incredibly thorough in explaining what needed to be done, yet still so kind and patient. She really helped ease my nerves. Highly recommend this location. 10/10!

Negative experience: The dentists were fine, but Tend as a company is a complete scam. Claimed they took my insurance, they don't. Called their billing number MANY times to try and figure out why I owe them thousands of dollars when I shouldn't. Never got a straight answer. AVOID any Tend at literally all costs. Please do yourself a favor, I had to pay $2000 for basic dental care that I could've gotten for free at a place that actually took my insurance. DO NOT GO HERE!

Negative experience: Review based on customer service The worst experience going through Invisalign with this office. I’m now 5 weeks behind schedule because their new assistant did a useless scan of my teeth and no one considered it relevant enough to ask me to come in for a new one. Then they didn’t manage to work with the lab to get my new retainers done and called me and 1 hour before the appointment that it hadn’t come in - promising me they would push to expedite the shipping and then radio silence. I had to go to the office in person because no one would call me back just to find out they still do not have the retainers. Literally very close to quitting the entire process because of terrible they treat their patients

Negative experience: Doctor Shay is great! This review is SOLELY BASED off of customer service! It is dreadful! I have been going back and forth for weeks now simply trying to get a phone number or email address! Still haven’t gotten it! I can’t get my root canal until I get it, and my tooth is getting infected again! Really horrible communication and assistance!

Fantastic experience: Everyone is friendly and helpful (with insurance info, for example) and I’ve had great work done by the dentists I’ve seen which includes fillings a replacement of an old crown.

Negative experience: One Star for the fact that most of the people there are nice. Second star, the office does look cool and is comfort and relaxing. However, ever since my first crown/filling done by them, it has been a nightmare. That one tooth “fix” had so much extra glue that it took 3 more appointment including 2 routine dental care and an emergency appointment due to extreme teeth pain caused by this tooth fix and was looked by 3 different dentist doctors to examine it and try to “help” me. Also, I’ve been given some not so great advice on how to actually take care of my mouth guard when they told me to clean it by using a toothbrush and cold water which I literally learned that the bristle of your toothbrush can make micro cracks into your mouthguard and may cause bacteria to build up. I wish they would provide better advice and how to care for daily dental routine to prevent cavity and such.

Negative experience: Absolute sham of a business. They told me that my cleaning visit was covered by insurance, and my insurance company verified that Tend accepts them. But after my visit, I was sent a bill for $298. My Tend portal says no insurance was applied. I then started reading other patient reviews of Tend, and it seems that they have a predatory practice of failing to file insurance claims before the deadline imposed by the insurance company. Then they are "forced" to make the patient pay out of pocket for the visit. If this charge is not reversed, I will file a complaint with the MA Attorney General's office. This nonsense is completely unacceptable and beyond the pale.

Negative experience: Two times I have made an appointment at Tend. And two times after arriving for the appointment, was told that Tend could not "verify my insurance" and the start date was not until the new year. The first time I thought there may have been an issue with my insurer. According to my insurer and according to the Tend website, I am covered. It is unclear exactly what is going on here, though suspect I may have been I on the receiving end of a tactic to extort higher payments out of individuals because the margins are greater than certain insurer reimbursements. Initially, when my appointments were made, I was told that my insurance was accepted. At time of appointment, and after I have come into the office, the insurance is not verified - presumably because it is assumed that because I have made the trip in, I will just pay out of pocket. Compounding the issue, when I questioned the receptionist about why I would have to pay $375, she responded "contact your insurer." I said that I have done that and confirmed that my coverage has been verified. She was immediately dismissive and replied "this ain't got nothin to do with us - you can do whatever you want." Unsatisfying experience and exemplary of the "we care more about our website than our patients" approach to healthcare. Perhaps also if Tend were focused on patient care instead of patient numbers, I would recommend them. But I cannot. Turns out not everything (like dental care) is a good candidate for venture finance.

Fantastic experience: EDIT: These guys took my feedback seriously and turned it around. I got some dental care products as consolation for not getting the brush bags. They were much better about scheduling and communication. I finally got a much needed bite guard because the Dr. and hygienist I saw were knowledgeable and knew what they were doing. Maybe it’s new staff or better training? Either way I appreciate them hearing me out. This is not a dental office it’s a front to make money for private equity overlords. My first visit they didn’t do any of the fancy things they promise (no TV no goody bag) and the hygienist had no idea what she was doing. She was taking X-rays for ages and I have been to the dentist enough to know that it doesn’t take that long. She would also leave the bite wings in my mouth for minutes at a time, MINUTES.. did someone say gag reflex? Very uncomfortable. The dentist comes in and all he tries to do is sell me on Invisalign. I have never ever been told I need orthodontic work, just another upsell. My husband liked this place so he told me try again. They cancel my appointment with 36 hours notice after me having scheduled it 6 months ago. They were also prompting me to change the appt online in their system when it clearly stated I had to call in. The irony is my appointment was canceled because a provider wasn’t available. So I go to my rescheduled appointment and get my cleaning, only to find out the dentist is running severely behind schedule and can’t see me unless I wait for an indefinite amount of time. Sis I gotta work too, so I had to go without seeing the actual doctor. They said I can come back later but that’s a huge pain, and the whole reason I had to reschedule was so that I could be seen bc the doctor on staff. To add insult to injury once again no toothbrush kit was offered. I think I’m over it.

Fantastic experience: I'm sure I won't go to another dentist! Had my first exam on October 19th with Hygienist Ahmed Tamim. He provided the service with the utmost professionalism and care. I Had fun sharing a conversation with him. Already booked my next visit!

Fantastic experience: I was treated by Jennifer and her work was amazing. I am an 80 years old patient, but Jennifer didn’t care and provided me with the most comprehensive a thorough clean up procedure I have ever had. This was followed by Dr. Brito's exam, which focused on the strength of my teeth and gave me a thumb up. I liked this back to basics approach. I was very pleased with the reception, as it was my first visit after going to the previous clinic for over 20 years. I have realized that the change was not only beneficial, but the level of customer care and quality has significantly improved.

I have had very high dental anxiety throughout my life and once I communicated this to the team we talked through a plan to keep me informed and comfortable with the dental work I needed to get done! My dental anxiety has dramatically decreased over the last few years and my teeth are healthier than ever. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: The dental office is aesthetically very pleasing and the receptionist was welcoming as soon as I walked in. I loved having the option to choose the toothpaste flavor and a show to watch during my cleaning (Anthony Bourdain’s No Reservations!).

Negative experience: When they messed up a crown and pricing for the crown two years back, I gave them the benefit of the doubt. When one of their dentists said "depression isn't real" after I confided in her for why I had so many cavities? Okay, that was the second chance. Maybe they can turn this around. Third chance today - went in today for my scheduled appointment which they made me CONFIRM via email the day before - just to tell me that the new crown isn't even here yet. No call, no warning. A 45-minute drive later and a day off of work completely wasted. Their billing is a complete mess. I can never get in touch with anyone at this location because any phone number just transfers you to a random corporate person that has no idea what your treatment plan is. I was quoted $1000 for a crown both in person and online at the beginning of the process, and they are now making me pay $1800+. I never leave reviews like this but I am so upset.

Fantastic experience: They were able to get me in with very short notice and were amazing in helping me understand my emergency issue and since I was in town just for this week, the dentist even gave me her cell number to text her in case something comes up before I get home.

Fantastic experience: Hygienist Linh and doctor Sean were beyond amazing! Front desk was helpful at breaking down pricing for procedures and were super pleasant. This was my first ever visit and I will have many more here thanks to those employees.

Fantastic experience: Overall, I’ve really been enjoying my experience at Tend. Everyone is friendly, upfront about costs, the app is really easy to use, the environment is pristine and surprisingly each room is quiet from the next. So far no complaints, and it’s completely changed the dental experience for me.

Positive experience: The hygienist and dentist I saw were extremely professional, cared for my personal comfort, and gave useful dental advice. I was sad to see that there's no closed doors between patient rooms, no obvious air filtration, and only surgical masks were worn by the staff. So, I cannot recommend this place as a particularly COVID caution friendly option, but they were very considerate of my comfort.

Fantastic experience: The best and friendliest hygienists, doctors, and staff I’ve ever had at a dentist. Always professional, and you can count on receiving honest feedback that is productive and not another scolding about not flossing enough like most dentists. State of the art dental technology and a clean, modern facility. Would recommend to this Tend location to everyone.

Negative experience: They are a terrible service. I went for a regular dental exam and cleaning and they did a set of x rays for 2 visits that they didn’t say would not be covered by insurance and I ended up with a large bill for completely unnecessary set of x rays that had no impact on resolution. And now I have to run after them to get bill corrected and they are unwilling to do so Terrible service. They deliberately overcharge. Even I called up my insurance, they said nobody had called from their side to confirm whether insurance covers x rays Correction - They did call back and refund the charges. Thank you for doing so. Overall I would just suggest to clarify billing not just upfront but also with the doctor so that you don’t receive a bill shock to begin with. But again thank you to Tend team for correcting it.

Negative experience: BEWARE. This location billed my insurance incorrectly, resulting in an incorrect charge to me. I have been fighting this for almost 8 months and they still won’t refund me my money. They finally billed the correct insurance and my insurance paid them out in early February, but they won’t refund me. It has been a nightmare to deal with and I wouldn’t recommend this office to anyone.

Negative experience: Disappointed with Tend's automated communication system. Three appointments have been cancelled at the last minute, this time there were both email and text confirmations but when I walked in, "sorry we no longer have a periodontist on staff, we tried to call you." I have no record of receiving any calls. Plus MANY texts and emails confirming the appointment, confirming my ability to pay for the appointment etc.

Positive experience: The people at Tend in Kendall are very nice, and the service I received always seemed fine. But they were constantly trying to upsell me. In addition, they reassured me that my insurance would cover some services that, it ends up, were not covered. All this resulted in me paying more for my dental work than I have ever paid out of pocket. Needless to say, I'm finding another dentist.

Negative experience: HORRENDOUS. Literally a scam. I had a visit a year and just received a bill claiming that my insurance covered the services partially. Before the visit I had asked would I have a co-pay? Can you verify with my insurance and they assured everything will be covered 100%. Yet, here we are. The representatives are giving me mixed information every time. Please do not gaslight your customers, if you failed to inform your customers about your costs that is on you. I would not recommend this place. -100000/100

Fantastic experience: I had a great dental cleaning experience. My hygienist, Jen, put me at ease and was very professional. The full mouth of xrays to set a baseline was done in the most modern non-invasive way. Glad to have gotten the little mailer.

Negative experience: The dentist and hygienist were great, and the facilities were modern and clean. However, the lack of transparency around cost and billing is super frustrating and the worst I’ve ever experienced at a dentist. They did not provide a cost of services estimate in writing for a procedure, and the verbal estimate was half of what it ended up costing. Additionally, they charged the credit card I used to pay in office without my permission when I was billed again at a later time. This issue is compounded by the difficulty of getting a hold of customer service since it is a corporate number rather than office specific. I do not recommend their office. The convenience of being able to make your appointments online is in my opinion outweighed heavily by the surprise bills and unexpected charges.

Negative experience: Similar to a lot of the one-star reviews below, their billing system is a joke. I went three times in 2023 to get deep clean and do follow-up visit, and each time I visited, the amount I was asked to pay after the visit was more than the amount I was quoted before. And their default answer is "you need to check with your insurance". Fed up, I eventually decided to stop going here. My last visit was April 2023, and long and be hold, THIRTEEN MONTHS LATER in May 2024, I got an email saying that I have unpaid bill. I called their customer service, only to be told that, of course "to check with my insurance". The entire billing practice is opaque and if you do not want to be told more than a year later that you owe them money, save yourself some trouble and go find a regular dentist without all the instagrammable goodie bags and sunglasses. You do not want your dentist to be a VC-funded start-up.

Fantastic experience: Very efficient service. The dental hygienist are very kind. I just wish they would charge the right card. Every time I’m charged on my credit card and not my FSA card on file.

Fantastic experience: I have been going to Tend for almost 2 years now. Highly recommend them. In the past I have had horrible experiences with other dental offices. Tend has the kindest, non-judgemental staff that have help my oral health come along way. Still more to do, but so happy where we are now!

Positive experience: Well my appointment was at 5:30PM. The front desk thought it was weird that I hadn’t been seen yet at 5:55pm because the dentist didn’t have any patients at that time. The front desk agent was heading to the back to see what the hold up was. The dental assistant brought me back at 6PM, my appointment was for an emergency appointment for a chip front tooth. A sliver of my filling came out. Well when the dentist arrived he said to me well I can’t doing anything for you today because I’m Leaving for the day, and then I go on vacation till next Tuesday. He had no urgency or empathy for what I felt was an emergency. He has a horrible bedside manner. Not sure if he was new in his field but definitely didn’t give veteran dentist, but I don’t think patients are his forte. The appointment was a waste of time.

Negative experience: My experience with the hygienists here have been great. However, my experience with their billing systems and customer service have been awful. I leave each visit told I have paid off my full balance and then months later, my credit card is automatically charged hundreds of dollars extra without any notice or explanation of why. It is impossible to get in touch with the front desk and you are forced to talk to people at the Tend corporate office who are overall rude and incredibly unhelpful. After multiple calls, I was finally told I was being overcharged and I should see money back to my credit card and, several months later, I have still have not seen that credit.

Fantastic experience: Went to Tend in Cambridge, MA to get my wisdom teeth removed. Dr. Kendal and her dental assistant, Steph, could not have done a better job. Fantastic dentist and staff that truly care about their patients, highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: Great experience at Tend! Everything is extremely nice and modern. They walk you through everything in detail and you get to watch TV (with headphones on!) while they clean your teeth. Staff were super nice and professional

Positive experience: I really was excited about this modern dentist concept, but it was such an unnecessarily confusing appt. I signed up for exam which comes with a cleaning. But then during the appt, the x-ray tech told me it was an exam but not a cleaning, creating a lot of confusion on my side… The dentist cleared up the confusion and performed the cleaning since they were missing a hygienist that day. After the dentist finished the cleaning (she was great btw), she then handed it off to the x-ray tech to do the polish (since the hygienist was out that day). The X-ray tech did fine until she dumped mouthwash in my mouth at the end of the polish without warning, almost choking me. I think this is probably an outlier experience so I’m planning to give them a second chance, but people who are not properly trained as hygienists should not be performing polishings.

Negative experience: I just left your facility unsatisfied. I arrived after learning 5 minutes before my arrival that my insurance couldn’t be found. When I arrived it took 60 minutes to locate my insurance. During this time the only thing mentioned to me was the out of pocket fee I’d have to pay if my insurance was not active. After they found my insurance, they then tell me about additional charges that may apply. At this point I’m Annoyed because that is now how you communicate expectations to your customers. Receiving vital information before my visit that will impact my visit is ideal. This left me feeling uncomfortable and not willing to trust you after this interaction. Please adjust how you communicate this information. I’ve now left with still an aching mouth and wasted time.

Fantastic experience: Best dentist experience ever. I felt like I was treating myself. Everyone was so nice, the aesthetic was beautiful, and TVs on the ceiling! Believe me I was terrified and loathed the dentist but I just got my cleaning and I’ll be back next week!!!!
