Fantastic experience: Had 2 teeth extracted and bone graft. Basically painless. Well staffed also. It's just a shame that oral care along with vision are separate from our health insurance. Dr Stevens did a great job.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Fischer removed an upper molar and performed a bone graft . Dr. Fischer recommended a local anesthesia for the procedure and I was a bit nervous as other dentists had said there could be complications because of the large roots of this tooth and the fact I had been on fosamax. The whole removal, bone graft and sutures took only about 10 min. With no pain. Would recommend for his expertise.

Negative experience: This review is not about the clinical care, which was excellent and I would rate that care 5 stars. It is about one of the worst billing experiences I have ever encountered. We paid $2,300 up front for my adult son’s wisdom teeth extraction at Oral and Facial Surgeons of Illinois. A remaining balance was pending insurance. At the outset, the billing office did not even submit the claim to medical insurance, as they assured me they would. The only reason this was discovered is because I called to ask. After that, the claim was submitted incorrectly and had to be resubmitted — again, something I only learned because I continued calling for updates. Unfortunately, this happened more than once. Over the course of several months, I proactively contacted the billing office every time a statement arrived. Each time, I was told “don’t worry, insurance is still processing. You will continue receiving notices because that's how our system works” I relied on these assurances in good faith. When insurance finally paid, no final bill or notice was ever sent. Instead, the account was immediately sent to collections, and additional fees were added. When I called to ask why we were never notified, the billing office denied telling us not to worry and claimed they had left multiple voicemails — which absolutely did not happen. We were always willing and prepared to pay the legitimate post-insurance balance. What we object to is being sent to collections and charged fees due entirely to the billing office’s repeated errors, delays, and lack of communication. Judging by the volume and consistency of similar reviews, this appears to be a pattern, not an isolated incident. Anyone using this practice should document every interaction and actively monitor insurance submissions, because the billing office cannot be relied upon to do so accurately.

Fantastic experience: I had so much anxiety about getting my wisdom teeth out! It was a painless and easy experience and they took great quick care of me!

Negative experience: Extremely rude person answering the phone. Was annoyed by us even calling we have recording of how unbelievably unprofessional the receptionist was. She was rude and annoyed that we were calling and immediately told us everything that she couldn’t do before even getting our daughter’s information. She made zero effort to try to figure it out for us and at the end of the call we asked for her name and she informed us that she didn’t have to give us that information. Unbelievably horrible and unprofessional. Sorry we wasted the time even calling.

Negative experience: I had a dental implant put in by another oral surgeon who hit my facial nerve. He removed it, it hurt when he removed it and I have been in pain ever since this happened a month ago. I had a stroke 4 days later and an infection that went septic. I was in the hospital for a week. Still taking antibiotics and still have a lump of infection in my jaw. I called this practice as they were recommended to me (Dr Fletcher specifically) by an MD. ALL the doctors there refuse to see me now or ever for this problem. I was told they don‘t want to “put their hands in someone else‘s mess.” But if I want to come back in a year to be re-implanted, they would do that. Isn’t that rich? I guess I will stay on antibiotics or die from sepsis. What am I supposed to do?? No way on this earth I am going to the one that started this. I guess oral surgeons don’t take the same oath as doctors. I’m hurt, insulted, and epically let down. I watched a video of Dr Fletcher on you tube and this experience is a complete contrast to who he claims to be.

Fantastic experience: Everyone was kind and caring with my 9 year old. He had no complications with the anesthesia. The team really knew how to work with him to make the teeth pulling as easy as possible for my very nervous kid.

He made sure everything was completely safe before any procedures were performed. He made sure I was aware of everything they'd be doing. His nurses were all very nice as well. Williams made sure to ask multiple times during the procedure if I was alright. He even stopped to numb me up again right before we started just to make sure id feel nothing.

Fantastic experience: Really wanted to cancel, out of memory of wisdom teeth removal from mid 1970’s. Met with Dr Long a few weeks ago. He put my fears at ease, then he and nurses did a spectacular job today. Actually think I’m going to survive!

Fantastic experience: Everyone was extremely friendly from start to finish. I have extreme dentist anxiety and the nurse and surgeon were understanding and empathetic. I had an old e that got infected and the tooth needed extracted. Made the mistake of googling the procedure before my appointment. The results showed the difficulty of removing a previously root canaled molar and how it can take 30 minutes to get the brittle tooth extracted. Luckily this was not the case for me nor difficult for the surgeon. It was out in two pulls with little pressure and no pain. The extraction and bone graph portion took only around 5 minutes. The surgeon explained each step in great detail in the initial appointment and during the procedure. I have had a previous extraction and implant done at this office for my front tooth and it looks amazing. I will never go anywhere else for oral surgery! Thank you Dr Fischer and all the staff.

We left with a smile and a couple of teeth to leave out for the tooth fairy!

Negative experience: I have had a referral to this place for over two years and never once got a call back. I tried faxed,emailing and calling myself but either was on hold for way too long or never emailed back. Now my husbands dentist tried setting up and appointment for him for an emergency tooth extraction and they have done the same thing. I don’t understand how this place gets any business.

Positive experience: Dr Fisher was great! My only complaint was prior to my scheduled appointment they reached out to remind me of the date but they called my emergency contact instead and released private information without my consent. I did not sign a release of information in the office to allow this. That was a breach of my privacy and it definitely didn’t instill trust in the office.

Negative experience: Originally, I was not planning to write a review about this place; however, they have left me feeling incredibly frustrated regarding the situations they have put me through. The reason I came to this practice in the first place was to get my wisdom teeth taken out back in October of 2023. Before my appointment, I was informed that I would be prescribed pain medication, an antiseptic mouthwash, and antibiotics. However, I was put fully under IV sedation and my partner (who was accompanying me to my appointment) was not told exactly what we were to pick up from the pharmacy. So, at the time and due to the sedation, I did not remember what we needed to pick up. The surgeon’s office only sent over the prescription for the pain medication the day of my appointment. They waited about 3 days to send the prescription for my mouthwash, and they did not send the prescription for my antibiotics until I called them wondering why my incisions were still bleeding after 5 days, which is extremely dangerous for someone who just had 4 wisdom teeth removed. Now to the recent issue: I paid roughly half of my bill at the time of my service and my insurance covered the other half. I found it a bit strange that they wanted payment only about 5 minutes after I woke up from sedation, and I have read other reviews mentioning the same thing. Over the past couple of years, I was refunded my original payment amount due to insurance covering more of the bill. However, a couple of months ago, I received a call from this office asking to repay my portion of the bill because insurance was no longer covering it. I understand that this was not the fault of the office, but I have been told confusing information repeatedly with little help from the office due to no one answering the phone or returning my calls. I was told by the office that the correct forms (with the correct billing codes) were sent to my insurance company, but my insurance company is telling me that they never received the codes of the service they were supposed to cover. I also received a call from one person in the financial department asking to pay my outstanding balance, but I was told by the other person in that department that my account was on hold because there was an active appeal being sent to my insurance company. Not only that, but my mother has received letters regarding my balance even though I am an adult and this was my service. The entire ordeal has been aggravating, and you have to manage the issues and do your own calculations that the financial department does not seem to know how to do, otherwise you’ll end up getting taken advantage of and mistreated. Save yourself the trouble, and find another office to go to.

Fantastic experience: From check-in to discharge Dr. Stephens and his team were wonderful. Our 11 year old daughter was gifted friendship bracelets from the office team before her procedure. Her clinical team took time to explain everything they were doing and made her feel calm and comfortable. They did everything they could to alleviate any discomfort. Dr. Stephens has a wonderful bedside manner and he is a talented surgeon. The procedure went great and amount of time we were told we could anticipate was spot on. The recovery team was so sweet and gentle as our daughter woke up from her anesthetic. The clinical team and Dr. Stephens made sure we understood all our home care procedures before leaving and answered all our questions.This is a great office with great people.

Positive experience: Dr. Williams did great as the doctor in charge of my oral surgery. I felt I was well informed at initial check up in regards to my wisdom tooth extraction. I was given insight into the specific nature of my impacted wisdom tooth and Dr. Williams was open to discussing any questions I had in regards to what would happen. Then when the appointment came I was well assured of the nature of my procedure and care given to me by the doctor. I was given a great explanation/overview of how the procedure would be done and was situated comfortably prior to operation (while they had applied the local anesthetic and allowed it to numb.) During the procedure the numbing gel and local anesthesia worked so well I only felt slight pressure during the entire operation. The situation of the chair helped me relax making it easier for me to allow the doctors to perform the procedure with no issues or complaints. The nurses during the procedure helped me keep my head in place and they were gentle enough that I felt that I was comfortable. The procedure was quite quick I believe it took them around 30 minutes to complete it. They gave me time to get ready before I was moved to the recovery area, though honestly I didn't really need very much time to be ready. After the procedure, in the recovery area, I was given ample time to recover from the procedure so that I didn't feel uncomfortable or pressured when they came back to discuss the after surgery items. I was given an head sling of sorts that held an already chilled ice pack; plenty of gauze; the after procedure care instructions (which they discussed with me at length); sent the required prescriptions for care; and then had me pay for my bill. Finally, they directed me to the exit and I was on my way. I really liked how they had a separate door for me to exit so I didn't have to go out the lobby entrance after the procedure. They had a bag for all of the after surgery items discussed above making it easy for me to carry them. And the location being close to Sam's club made getting the prescriptions very simple. I gave my rating based on how I perceived the procedure and appointments would go. I felt that the business practice was professionally run and well operated. I felt like I was taken care of properly if not moreso as a patient. If I had to get another extraction for my teeth I would seriously consider this business for it, and if a friend I knew asked me about where to get their wisdom teeth extracted I would recommend this practice without question. I hope my review provides an adequate amount of knowledge that anyone who might need a oral surgery to consider going to Illinois Oral and Dental Surgeons of Illinois. And if he is available to request Dr. Williams for their operation. (Update 8/4/25) I started realizing an issue with my extraction site around before July 23, 2025 when the appointment was done on April 30, 2025 and called on July 23, 2025 about the issue and I haven't heard a response from them since then. I haven't had another appointment with my dentist about the issue yet but I have reduced my rating based on the lack of response to my issue that I left a call for. If they respond back due to this change and address the issue I will change the rating back to its initial 5 stars. However, if it turns out to be a bigger issue I will reduce their rating significantly as a result.

Fantastic experience: I recently came in for an implant. Due to circumstances beyond anyone’s control I had some infection and had to have it removed. My doctor was prompt taking care of the issue and getting it under control and I am on track to have it reinstalled in a couple of months. While no one wants to do the same tooth twice they got me in immediately and have been very professional with me. All the staff are very friendly and caring.
