Experiencia fantástica: They deserve the 5 stars and MORE. I am high risk for covid and have several chronic illnesses. Going to the dentist where someone is in very close proximity to my nose, mouth, and eyes for an extended time is very nerve-racking. I stopped going to my previous dentist after she refused to wear an N95 saying level 3 masks were fine and they wouldn’t make any accommodation for me. I went into the science of the differences between different masks and their filter level, but it didn’t matter to her. Everyone is one illness, one accident away from becoming disabled or high risk themselves. People are immunocompromised especially after having multiple covid infections. People have loved ones who are elderly or high risk. The fact that healthcare facilities have become so callous & uncaring these days just continues to show what kind of world we’re living in where even health precautions/accommodations are politicized and refused. If you don’t care that covid is still circulating and don’t take any precautions, that’s your prerogative, but seeing healthcare workers who do still care and will try to make disabled patients safe & comfortable in such a vulnerable position is a rarity. I called so many dentists to see if they were still taking any precautions like wearing N95s or willing to, they all said no. I went several years without getting my teeth cleaned because of this. Then one day I decided to pick up my search again early this year and called Lake highlands dental. Not only do they offer early morning appointments, but the hygienist Misty and dentist Dr Good said they would accommodate me. I just got my 6 month follow up and they continued to maintain the same precautions. The cleaning itself is always so thorough and Misty is so kind and cool to talk to. I’m so grateful for Lake highlands dental ♥️

Experiencia fantástica: I came in for a cleaning, and Misty was my hygienist. She was absolutely incredible—gentle, knowledgeable, and incredibly kind. The entire process was completely pain-free (my gums have literally never felt more respected). She took X-rays, snapped before-and-after pics like it was a dental glow-up, and gave me the lowdown on how to evict the tartar party happening in my mouth. Misty explained the plaque and the particular bacteria present in my gums and gave me thoughtful recommendations for treating both the tartar buildup and gum health moving forward. What really stood out was how she spotted some leftover cement from my old braces that had apparently been hanging out in my mouth rent-free for years—and she took the time to gently evict it. That cement was more committed than some relationships. She also created a calming environment by immersing me in a virtual scenic tour on the TV—today’s setting was Yellowstone National Park, which made the experience even more relaxing. I’m truly grateful to have been in Misty’s care. Misty made it all easy, educational, and relaxing. If you can enjoy a dental cleaning, this was it.

Experiencia negativa: Misty was wonderful and the staff were always friendly during my visits, which I really appreciated. However, the billing experience has been extremely frustrating and disappointing. A few months after my appointment, I found out they are out of network with Delta Dental—even though this was not clearly communicated up front. This led to unexpected out-of-pocket costs, including extra charges for multiple X-rays and services that weren’t covered. What’s more upsetting is how the billing department handled things. Instead of working with me to resolve the issue, they quickly turned to sending collection threats, which felt aggressive and unnecessary—especially after I had already moved out of Texas. This isn’t a bad clinic in terms of people or care, but the lack of transparency in billing and the pressure tactics used afterward left a really sour taste. I hope they reconsider how they handle insurance communication and billing in the future. I was billed $627, but my insurance is only covering $384. Delta Dental has informed me that it will take approximately 30 days to reissue the payment. Despite this delay, the clinic has indicated they may move forward with sending the balance to collections. If clear communication and coordination cannot be maintained between this clinic and Delta Dental, they should reconsider their partnership, as it creates unnecessary confusion and hardship for patients.

Experiencia negativa: This dental office has not only failed in their basic duty of care, they’ve crossed lines that border on malpractice and patient rights violations. I was a patient here for over two years. Not once during that time did they inform me of any serious dental issues. It wasn’t until I sought a second opinion from a licensed professional at another clinic that I discovered multiple long-term problems that had been ignored. One of those involved a tooth they had supposedly extracted, which was done incorrectly and is now costing me even more to fix. Another was a chipped tooth I specifically brought to their attention, which they brushed off as “fine.” That same tooth now requires a root canal. This is not just carelessness, it’s gross negligence. What’s even more disturbing is the unprofessional, unethical behavior I witnessed firsthand. During my last visit, they left my profile open in front of me, and I saw internal notes written by front desk staff stating “she thinks I’m giving her a discount” a degrading and inappropriate comment logged into my medical file. Not only is that humiliating, it raises serious HIPAA concerns regarding professionalism, patient confidentiality, and misuse of protected health information. My sister that’s been a patient there as well, called to speak to the manager, the manager had nothing to say and started yelling at my sister and made it seem like it was my fault. Nothing happened, no apology NOTHING When I was there I had 5 doctors ask me to scan the Google and do a review, the girl in the front desk was staring me down and was trying to force me to do a review as well. This is what they do, it so sad that this happened to me. I know you guys know who I am. If you care about your health, privacy, or being treated with even basic respect, I strongly urge you to avoid this office.
