The Good Dentist

Negative experience: Great dentist (Dr. Carmichael), but front desk experiences have left a lot to be desired. Enough that I won't put up with it just to see the dentist for 2 minutes during a cleaning. I want to feel welcomed when I come in, and I want easy and clear communication. The Good Dentist doesn't have either of those things during in person, phone, or email interactions.

It also helps that they accept insurance from my Medicare Advantage plan. I am very pleased with their support of my dental health.

Fantastic experience: This was my first time seeing Dr Kyle and it was for a very stubborn tooth extraction. He was very mindful, kind, and kept me in the know about what he was doing and why. Going to the dentist makes me anxious, but I do not feel that way at The Good Dentist. Receptionists to hygienists to dentists, everyone is wonderful.

Fantastic experience: I was very impressed with The Good Dentist and Dr. Merrick. After a weekend with a severe toothache, I called on a Monday morning and they got me in right away that day. I was lucky to see Dr. Merrick, who saw me and diagnosed my problem. I needed a root canal and was very nervous about the procedure. He took time to explain the procedure, prescribed an antibiotic and scheduled me as soon as I could get in. The root canal was way easier than I had expected, and successfully ended my tooth pain. I was even more impressed when Dr. Merrick called me the day after to follow up on my status. I definitely recommend The Good Dentist and Dr. Merrick.

Fantastic experience: This was my first time coming here. I left my previous dentist because there weren't able to find the pain in my tooth for 2 years(4 visits). Within the first 30 minutes, Dr. Kyle @ the Good Dentist found the issue and is scheduled to be fixed next week. Couldn't be happier! Wish I had come over sooner.

Negative experience: So apparently my first review was deleted. So I will post my warning again. This dental office allowed a person to come in for dental work without her having to show an ID or copy of the insurance card and they fraudulently billed my insurance. When I brought this to Haley’s attention she proceeded to say that I received the dental work. When I asked her to pull up the ID she said that’s not something that they do. I live in South Carolina. Does it make sense for me to travel to Tennessee for fillings?? I think not. This poor business practice is the reason scammers are allowed to scam people and is also the reason our insurance premiums continue to rise. If this review is deleted I will continue to post

Fantastic experience: Front desk was warm and welcoming. They worked with me to add my insurance provider to their list of accepted insurance. I came here after tracking down Dr Carmichael from a previous provider and as an added bonus now have a FANTASTIC new hygienist (Jenny)

Fantastic experience: Great experience...yes, at the dentist! I went in for a routine cleaning and they were able to fix a filling the same day. Everyone was so welcoming and pleasant - the receptionist, the hygienist, the dental assistant, and the dentist. Dr. Kyle even followed up the next day with a call to make sure everything was good.

Positive experience: I was scheduled as a new patient for October, and contacted this office four times via email (on May 28, June 2, June 12, and June 24) with a straightforward request to review my x-rays. Not a single response. That level of disregard is unacceptable and reflects extremely poor communication and a lack of basic professionalism. If this is how they treat potential new patients, I can’t imagine how they handle actual care. I’ve canceled my appointment and will be looking elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: Yesterday was my first visit to “The Good Dentist” office and I had a very good experience. Natalie my hygienist was very friendly and made me feel comfortable right away. She was gentle and through with my cleaning, and gave me some tips for caring for my teeth that I’ve never been told before. I met with Dr. O after my cleaning and she was also very friendly and had me feeling comfortable with her skills. I’ve been having trouble biting down on anything hard on my right side and she was able to make an adjustment to a couple of crowned teeth to align my bite and we are hoping this will fix that issue.

Negative experience: My dentist retired and I was looking for a local dentist instead of national chain so decided to go with the good dentist. Overall poor experience especially with scheduling. Went in for a chipped tooth and after diagnosis I was asked to come back as the assistant needed "lunch break". It was Wednesday and I was told to come back on Monday even though I was in pain and the filling needed only 30 mins as per the dentist. When I went back on Monday I was told it was next Monday. I don't which world the dentist lives in but to expect someone to live with pain of chipped tooth for 2 weeks is quite ridiculous. Needless to say not going back

Negative experience: Terrible experience with these people. They sawed out my two front teeth promising a 5 year warranty. The “temporaries” fell out five times. When the permanent ones were installed, one fell out a month later. When I complained they sent me a letter dismissing me from their practice. No “5 year warranty”. It has cost me thousands in time and money to get fixed. Not done yet two years later. I filed a complaint with the state of Wisconsin. Run away from Dr ‘s Meinerz and Ostremeck. Don’t be fooled by the name “Good Dentist” (Merton) or “Honest Dentist” (Elm Grove).

When I chipped a tooth they got me right in and repaired it beautifully! I can’t say enough about their desire to put me at ease and make me comfortable. I’d give them more than 5 stars if I could.

Negative experience: I came to “The Good Dentist” amidst a true dental emergency back in Nov, 2023. I was assured that not only would they quell any fears I had but that we’d work together to get an implant procedure underway and my oral health back on the road to recovery. There were so many steps to get there, however, based on my initial interaction with a Dr., I had faith that things would turn around for me. It took quite a while for them to run a final estimate for the procedure (as allegedly one of my two policies was taking longer than expected to fax back information), however, my confidence in the clinic to get things done was strong. Having a missing tooth in my smile line (as my crown fell out and could only be replaced if I wore and Invisalign tray) was devastating and a lot to deal with daily for both eating and hygiene purposes. I so looked forward to getting the steps of the procedure underway. It was determined, due to the nature of my job, that email was the best way to stay in touch, however, I would not always get timely responses. I provide ABA Therapy to children with autism through direct sessions that are in 3-4 hour blocks at a time. I am with clients all-day-long and only stop briefly to eat and then I’m in sessions again; I cannot help that. But, because of the faith I had in the clinic, and I trusted them when they said they understood and we could email, I was exceptionally patient and practiced generous assumptions; they were after all professionals and things happen that could interfere with intentions or abilities to communicate. After several unanswered emails, as I attempted to follow up with an email I last received from them, hoping to narrow down a date for the procedure, I began to feel slighted and that something was amiss. I emailed a final time to ask if there was a reason no one would respond to me, if I should ask for an ROI and start my search for help elsewhere? I could not understand why so much time had gone by and unfulfilled promises of “getting back” to me continued. Today I received a letter of dismissal in the mail. I have absolutely no reason or understanding why my continued patience with their lack of professionalism and follow through rendered such an unkind and unethical decision. I am floored and incredibly hurt. I will not get any closure, I’m sure, and have no real end in sight for treatment since I couldn’t even begin treatment. Dental emergency, promises to begin the procedure, two viable dental plans/policies and in the end… I was ghosted. It’s an unbelievable and unfair thing to do to someone in such a position, and so, while I cannot control how they treated me during such a vulnerable time, I’m hoping someone might read this and decide to go elsewhere for care. This should not happen to anyone. I did not experience good service at all from The “Good” Dentist, in fact, I was denied service and am left struggling to understand why. People should know.
