From the moment I called to make an appointment to my check in at arrival, June made my experience a positive one offering a warm and friendly welcome. This definitely put me at ease. Victoria greeted me and escorted me back for my cleaning. She was kind and caring while getting to know me and the purpose for my visit showing professionalism for any concerns that I had. Victoria was gentle during my teeth cleaning and explained everything throughout the process. This too put me at ease. Dr. Westhusing rounded out my experience with complete positivity. She was friendly and professional and showed care and concern with any questions or concerns that I had. She explained everything thoroughly and invited me to call at any time if I had any issues. Upon check out, June was there again to assist with her friendly smile. I cannot say enough about how wonderful my experience was, and I look forward to continuing my Dental care there.

Fantastic experience: This has been the best dental experience I have had in my 20+ adults years of going to the dentist. I am glad to have a female dentist, Dr Morantes is awesome. Each hygienist has been great as well. I was listened to, my concerns were taken seriously. I had to come back multiple times after fillings due to continued pain. Each time they were very kind & friendly. I will continue to come back to this practice as long as I can. Thank you for making dental appointments much more pleasant!

Fantastic experience: So, having just moved down to NC from NJ a few months ago, I am in the dreaded process of having to find all new everything; doctors, dentists, restaurants, etc. After a Google search, I chose Cataloochee Dental in Candler, and boy I'm glad I did. First off, the place is quite modern with what seems to be the latest in dental technology. Secondly, and most important to me, they are super friendly, not to mention super knowledgeable. I also loved that they broke down a plan for me and my specific needs, including the pricing. It gives me a clear picture of what my insurance will cover and what I have to pay out of pocket. That is super helpful in determining the order in which I want to proceed.

No more sticking those x-ray card in your mouth to bite down on hurting your gums. Lauren is an excellent hygienist and so personable. Dental anxiety is real and have PTSD from last dental place I went to and they messed up my mouth. They worked with me and gave me grace as I was having a difficult time accepting that I had to pull my tooth. Fast forward to today 12/30/25 I’m glad they allowed me to come in today and pull it. Dr. Wes was absolutely amazing and pulled that sucker with ease and I don’t feel a thing. This office has been so kind and patient and most of all accepting of the fact that I have dental anxiety. If you are looking for a place I highly recommend them, best part is the original price they quoted me was cheaper than trying to save the tooth and the original quoted price which was a blessing. Thank you Cataloochee team for being patient with this ol gal. I also want to note this was all an emergency visits as my tooth was in bad shape.

Positive experience: I have been going to Cataloochee for years and very happy with the practice. However I was troubled by the practices of the hygienist. She did not use water to rinse during the cleaning and left grit in my mouth. She took a personal phone call during the visit leaving me with a dry gritty mouth. She overemphasized the yellowness of my teeth and said they are the darkest she had seen. (she did, however recommend a whitening product) I have always had great cleanings and professional service with Cataloochee so this came as a surprise.

Fantastic experience: This a modern dental practice, and the Staff was responsive, friendly and knowledgeable. They were able to accommodate a short notice emergency that I had. I was able to transfer my records quickly and all forms were available on-line. An estimate of the copay was also provided quickly. Dr West was great at evaluating my situation, discussing the options, and she minimized any discomfort throughout. Very happy, and grateful, to have found Cataloochee Dental!

Negative experience: Hygienist was very rough, and the visit was somewhat traumatic. This has not been the case in the past visits. I have been a patient for 10yrs.

Fantastic experience: I have to admit, with so much going on in my life for the past few years, I have neglected my teeth a bit. I'm fairly new to the area, and searching for a new dentist can be overwhelming. I picked Cataloochee Dental for four reasons. 1 They were on my dental plan. 2 They are just 15 minutes away. 3 I was able to get an appointment fairly quick 4 Good reviews. My first appointment was today, and I have to say, this was one of the smartest choices I have ever made. The office is very nice, and I was seen right away. Victoria was the Hygienist who did everything from x-rays, to a complete exam and thorough cleaning. And made me feel completely comfortable. She listened to everything I wanted them to know about me and my teeth, and passed it all along to the dentist, Dr Morantes before I saw her. Dr, Morantes (Sarah) was very nice and let me know they would be there for all of my dental needs. I left with a huge "white" smile:-) Thank you to the whole staff.

My surprise best dentist appointment in my entire life! Hardly any pain what so ever! They go over what procedures you need, and the cost before hand, and let you pick which ones you want to do first. I totally recommend!

Fantastic experience: The ladies working out there have made this by far the best dentist office I’ve ever been to. They always make sure to go over plans before starting any procedure. They use topical numbing before numbing injections so you don’t feel near as much ( if any ) of it, and always ensure you are as comfortable as can be. They are just all around an amazing place.

Fantastic experience: Easy, painless, professional and convenient dentistry! These folks literally saved my life because I hadn't been to a competent dentist since moving here from Maryland. I had oral cancer (3 centimeter tumor in my tongue) and, if not for seeing them when I did, I may have not been able to survive the subsequent surgery because it was almost too late. They are so gracious, dependable and they work with my insurance seamlessly behind the scenes so I just show up for my appointments without any hassle whatsoever. After finding these people, I wouldn't consider using a different practice in Asheville!
