Fantastic experience: Finding a veterinarian you can completely trust with a dog who has a permanent tracheostomy isn’t easy. My French Bulldog, Bugs, has respiratory issues, and because of his trach, many veterinarians are understandably hesitant to treat him. That makes finding the right team incredibly important. I can’t say enough wonderful things about Dr. Zach Houghtaling and Hector. Hector has been caring for my dogs, Bev and Bugs, for over 10 years, and they absolutely adore him. Every time Bev sees Hector, she goes crazy with excitement—I’m convinced she thinks he’s her boyfriend! He has such a gentle, patient, and loving way with animals, and it truly shows in how much they trust him. He always takes his time, makes them feel comfortable, and treats them as if they were his own. This was our first visit with Dr. Zach Houghtaling, and I left feeling so relieved and grateful. Watching the way he handled Bugs with such confidence, compassion, and care immediately put me at ease. He understood Bugs’ special needs, never rushed him, and made what is usually a stressful visit a very positive experience. As the owner of a special-needs Frenchie, that level of knowledge and kindness means more than I can express. Thank you, Dr. Zach and Hector, for treating Bev and Bugs with such exceptional care. It’s rare to find a veterinary team that is not only highly skilled but also genuinely compassionate. We are so thankful to have found you, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend you to anyone—especially owners of French Bulldogs or pets with complex medical needs.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been taking my two dogs to Hamilton Animal Hospital for the past nine years, and I can’t recommend them enough. The entire team is kind, compassionate, and friendly, and they truly care about the animals. One thing I really appreciate is that they never make me feel pressured to do unnecessary tests or blood work. They make recommendations, explain everything clearly, and always let me make the decision without any pressure. Most recently, my dog had an emergency, and they got us in right away. Their quick response and excellent care meant so much to me. I’m so grateful to have found a veterinary team I trust. Denise at the front desk is awesome.

Fantastic experience: We live in Los Angeles and still use Hamilton Animal Hospital. Denise and her front staff go above and beyond for prescriptions, appointments, etc. Dr. Alkofer and other doctors have checked on my dogs after procedures, or visitations. Can’t recommend them enough. If you live in Orange County you are lucky to have these guys close by.

Fantastic experience: Seriously, THE BEST! I have been going here with various pets for the last 26 years. They are amazing! They have added a few new vets here in those years but 2 are original when I first started coming here and their 4 vets are absolutely amazing! The office staff and vet techs are fantastic. I don't live nearby any longer but they are still my vet of choice and I will happily drive my dog there!

Fantastic experience: Amazing staff! From the front desk, to the techs, to the doctors, they're all SO patient and SO caring. Denise is always smiling and always takes the time to answer my questions, send me any paperwork I need and even just chat with me when I'm feeling nervous about my dog. All the techs have always been patient with me dog and Dr. Landesfeind always takes the time to listen to any concerns I have, answer all my question and she keeps me updated during the procedures. Negative experience: I received an AI/Robo call from Hamilton asking to schedule an overdue exam for my dog who passed away 3 years ago. I had already let them know of her passing a year after when they called about an overdue teeth cleaning. Very disheartening.

Positive experience: Dr. Moreno & the entire staff have been wonderful taking for our little Buster for the past 12 years. When Buster went over the Rainbow Bridge they so caring helped us with the goodbye process. Now we have a new little girl, Ruby, and she will love their care too. Thank you Buster on the left photo. Fantastic experience: WOW! I was referred to HAH by a good friend. I have a newly adopted small dog and hadn't yet found a Vet when my little guy (with a big attitude) got into a scuffle with another dog. I called, spoke with the office manager Denise, and was able to get an appointment the same day. Denise and the entire staff were so pleasant and helpful. They were gentle with my dog, and went over all of his care with me thoroughly. They sent me off with a full packet containing all his care details, and a pup goodie bag. I couldn't be happier to say I found an amazing place to take my pup for his care.

Fantastic experience: My dog had surgery for the removal of a potential mast cell tumor as well as a biopsy of the excised tissue. Dr. Moreno was excellent; the suture line was relatively minimal in surface area, yet she was able to remove everything with good margins. She advised us that it was very possible the mass was not cancerous, and it turns out she was right...luckily. She carefully explained the surgical procedure as well as the follow-up care. All through the process she was very supportive, and had a great interaction with our dog. Staff was its usual excellent self, caring and comprehensive. As with all of our experiences, the facility gets our highest recommendation.

Fantastic experience: I LOVE this office! Everyone is super kind and efficient, however Denise goes beyond the call of duty.. on more than a few occasions! I always wait until the last moment to order meds for my pups… she’s had them ready for p/u on same day! I no sooner hung the phone up & she has called for p/u. Now that’s awesome. All the girls at the front desk are super.. and I think Denise has trained them. Also Doc Rachel is super cool too… I really love them all. I had been at my last Vet for 40 yrs, he had retired & was a hard act to follow.. but I feel just as comfortable here at Hamilton Animal Hospital… and I hope anyone reading this will too

Fantastic experience: My old man kitty boy was behaving oddly & showing symptoms that something was wrong. So I called to make an appointment & I am glad I did! I spoke with Denise at the front desk & she let me know (calm & collected but with a sense of urgency) I needed to bring him in right away. She set up the appointment & got me in asap. I always see her working and she always has a smile on and is so pleasant with every interaction. Dr Alkofer was the vet on site & he was incredible. Very thorough and detail oriented and so communicative. I’m happy to say my kitty boy is doing much better and I owe it to the entire staff - their patience is next level, especially this time (he did not get his normal sedative he needs when visiting the vet & I think everyone made it out with only minor trauma) The staff here are always the best and I constantly recommend them to everyone. Fantastic experience: My poor dog hurt his foot I called. They were able to see him the exact same day. He’s never traumatized when he goes there. He loves these people you can’t pretend with animals. They either know you like them or you don’t. I just wanna take the time to say thank you for having such a beautiful loving staff, that truly cares about animals, not just there for a paycheck, but they truly care about your pets.

Negative experience: Not what it used to be back in the day...........overpriced, rude and unknowledgeable staff (who also gossip about clients who call, in front of clients waiting in person), and the doctors have turned into salespeople

Fantastic experience: I brought my cat in because he wasn’t eating and Dr Moreno checked him out and took X-rays and gave a shot for dehydration. When I got home he wasn’t eating better and started eating again and seems to be doing well.

Fees are fair. Front desk staff, kennel attendants and techs are all excellent. Couldn’t be happier with this practice. As a human doctor, I recommend this vet clinic without hesitation.

Fantastic experience: This vet office came highly recommended by my next-door neighbor, whose opinion I trust because of how deeply they care for their senior dog--and I'm so glad I followed that recommendation. The front office staff is always friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Scheduling is easy, they're flexible, send reminders, and are amazing with medication refills (even when I'm on a time crunch due to my own poor planning). I have a senior dog with higher needs, and everyone here is so sweet and gentle with her. The vet techs are welcoming and kind, and Dr. Alkofer is truly wonderful--very knowledgeable, takes his time, explains best- and worst-case scenarios, is mindful of costs, and gives honest input as a fellow pet owner. He's reassuring without being alarmist. The office is clean, calm, and even has snacks and drinks. I would recommend this vet to anyone. I adore everyone here. I'd also like to give a special shoutout to their front desk team for their professionalism and consistently warm, welcoming demeanor.

Fantastic experience: Had to take our fur baby to the vets on a Sunday and Hamilton was open. We had a wonderful vet look at Sophie, and she had two ticks. The vet removed them and we were on our way. What a pleasant experience and in the process we found a new vet.

She was incredibly gentle with my cat and made him feel comfortable throughout the entire examination. She prescribed medication that significantly reduced his inflammation, and I truly appreciate her professionalism and compassion. I’m hoping for my cat’s speedy recovery. The clinic provided excellent customer service, showed genuine love for animals, and was very clean and welcoming. Our 3 kitties and our late senior who just recentlY crossed over the Rainbow Bridge all typically see Dr Alkofer but have also been seen by Dr's Greenwood & Landesfeind. And before we had cats, we had dogs who also were seen here. Have been clients for more than 25 yrs and counting now. All of the veterinarians and vet techs are always so compassionate and caring towards the furry family and also with us. Also want to give kudos to the front desk team. The best!

Fantastic experience: I really appreciate how helpful the receptionists have been in facilitating getting Rechie his epileptic meds. The Hospital is well staffed so it is easy to get an appointment. Dr. Houghtaling is thorough, patient and knowledgeable. He emails complete notes on our pet's problems, his treatments and what should happen in the future. That indicates a very caring attitude to our boy's health.

Fantastic experience: We moved to Huntington Beach about 3 years ago with our two senior dogs - Maddie and Butterz. Dr Greenwood has been their primary vet since our move and we absolutely love her. She’s kind, always follows up and we love that she is very direct when it comes to our options. We trust and value her recommendations, since, unlike most vets, she doesn’t try to upsell us on treatments that may be aggressive or haven’t been historically effective. Earlier this year, one of our pups took a turn for the worse and we had to say goodbye. I couldn’t bring myself to go in the treatment room where our dog passed. Dr Greenwood and staff were so understanding and didn’t think twice about accommodating me. We really feel lucky to have finally met a vet who cares.

Fantastic experience: I originally was going in to get my puppy shots, but she ended up having some tummy issues and having an accident in my car. Terisa was so sweet and came out and helped me clean her off and then held her while I cleaned my car up. Dr. Landesfeind came out and offered to help me try and clean it up. Overall, they were both amazing and my puppy, Eleanor, is feeling a lot better than she was that day. This will definitely be our permanent vet office.

Fantastic experience: I have a pitbull that is a really sweet dog but gets really scared at the vet so she can growl and be intimidating. Dr Moreno knows the way to Clover’s heart with treats. I love that she found a solution to make my dog more comfortable and provides medical care that is effective and reasonable solutions. The staff and the cleanness of the facility are also noteworthy.

Fantastic experience: Joe was seen by a very nice vet tech Anna?and Dr Zach H. The Dr was very thorough in explaining causes for his itchy skin and helped us choose a treatment that was suitable. Joe also had his vaccinations updated. Dr Zach seemed to enjoy treating Joe and we think Joe liked him too. Overall we had a great visit!

Positive experience: Dr.Greenwood is great. She is very caring and takes the time to explain and discuss your pet’s wellbeing. Vaccine prices are high. $50 for a bortadella dose seems unreasonable.

Fantastic experience: My two wild and crazy golden retrievers were tamed by Dr. Moreno and her staff! Coco and Dixie were nervous, but they had a good visit!

Negative experience: recently brought my 35-week-old puppy to Hamilton Vet Hospital because she was coughing, wheezing, congested, had a runny nose and watery eyes, was eating less than usual, and seemed unusually tired — all classic signs of kennel cough. She regularly attends doggy daycare, so it seemed like a fairly straightforward case. Instead of prescribing antibiotics, the doctor gave her cough medication and Cerenia for nausea and vomiting, even though she was not vomiting. When my husband asked why antibiotics weren’t prescribed, the doctor replied, “For what?” He then recommended unnecessary labs and X-rays, quoting two separate treatment plans — one over $600 and another over $1,000. My husband requested simple treatment for kennel cough and ended up paying more than $200 for the visit. While the front desk staff were wonderful — friendly, helpful, and professional — the doctor’s approach felt more focused on upselling than on compassionate care. I left feeling disappointed and concerned that unnecessary testing and inflated treatment options were being prioritized over straightforward, reasonable care.

Fantastic experience: Dr Alkofer is always excellent compassionate and informative. He also always follows up with insight and suggestions which are very much appreciated! All of the staff, vet tech, front office etc are very professional and courteous.

Fantastic experience: The staff was kind and considerate. The office was clean and modern looking. The vet technician was very good with Kona, my dog, as was the vet herself. Kona wasn’t stressed at all. She didn’t exactly like her ears probed, but who does? No high pressure up selling or unnecessary “labs” to boost the $$$ for her appointment. They handled the issue and I’m glad we went. They are now Kona’s go to vet.

Fantastic experience: Good staff, clean facility, excellent veterinarians. Dr. Landesfeind is thorough, gentle, and knowledgeable. She is clear and complete in her descriptions of her findings and of all associated options...no pressure or judgement. Her handling of a dog is excellent and she works with the personality of the animal (and the owner). Our dog is 75 lbs and had poor veterinary experiences in the past which resulted in distrust and put him on high alert. His experiences with Dr. Landesfeind has changed all that! Resulting in very peaceful and stress-free visits. Very little wait time, the prices seem reasonable, the vet tech's are awesome and the staff at the front is excellent. Highly recommend Hamilton Animal Hospital.

Fantastic experience: I love Hamilton Animal Hospital. Dr. Landesfeind is wonderful and each vet tech has been very helpful. Most importantly, my huge, timid German Shepherd loves them. I have always been able to get an appointment when needed, often much sooner than I expected to be available.

Fantastic experience: Not much experience with vets, but seems like the best, so far! Just help diagnosing a small tender yellow, that turned red bump, at the base of my RottieDor’s ear. Left with ointment, care instructions, plus helpful guidance on getting her down to a healthier weight.

Fantastic experience: Love Dr Alkofer-he gets down on the floor while examining and petting my dog-gives me lots of information. My dog gets very anxious, panting and climbing on furniture when he goes to the vet-they accommodate my pet's anxiety.

Fantastic experience: We have been to multiple vets in our time of pet ownership but Dr. Moreno is one of the best vets we’ve been to. Our dog, Pepper, is very anxious at any new place, but Dr. Moreno went slow, communicated with her, and made sure Pepper was comfortable. We were just in for an ear infection and it was a doozy but Sherri and Dr.Moreno were incredibly patient with us and Pepper. I couldn’t recommend these two wonderful ladies enough. Thank you so much for loving and taking care of our dog as much as we do!

Fantastic experience: I wrote this review several years ago but apart didn’t hit “Post”! Here it is: I just had another great experience with Maria and Mike at Hamilton Animal Hospital. They have both gone above and beyond the call of duty over the years! Took my cat in to see Dr Greenwood for an annual checkup, it was so nice working with all of them. Animal lovers through and through.

Fantastic experience: Hamilton Animal Hospital did not disappoint. Denise, the receptionist at front counter was super kind and attentive. Hector, well, let’s just say we’ve seen a lot of vet techs over the years and he was and is the best. So kind. Listened well. Super personable and just on top of his game! Then we get to Dr. Houghtaling. Again, we’ve seen a lot of vets over the years and never have we had a doc as amazing as Dr. Houghtaling. He was a great listener, he asked questions to know more and explained everything so well. He was super thorough and gentle with our girl. He spent the time with us that we needed. We will definitely be back!

Fantastic experience: My 21 year old cat is a patient of Dr. Alkofer’s and I always get the best care and communication from him. Unfortunately the office has a rule not to touch any animal that has not been vaccinated and as a result cannot have my cat groomed there. I feel that a blind, 21 year old house cat is no longer in need of vaccinations.

Fantastic experience: I appreciate the quick response, efficiency and great communication of all the staff, especially Denise and Dr. Bob, who were great with handling my situation right away with my dog after she ate a few raisins. Gave me the peace of mind she was getting great care
