Fantastic experience: it’s great and the technician was really great too

Negative experience: Feel like this place was better when I was a kid. Doctors and everyone are for the most part, friendly. BUT it is such a pain to get ahold of someone. I've tried calling at all times and no one ever picks up. Left multiple voice messages as well. So tough to schedule an appointment but even harder to reschedule. I've pointed out to someone that I called multiple times, and they said they wouldn't charge me bc it was my first time not rescheduling...I TRIED. YALL JUST DONT ANSWER. And there's like 5 people in the reception desk area. I know y'all ain't that busy. Come on now.

Negative experience: I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience today was unprofessional enough that I feel compelled to share it. When I checked in, the receptionist politely asked how to pronounce my name. I told him, and he acknowledged it. I appreciated that interaction. However, less than five minutes later, while I was sitting in the waiting area separated from the front desk by only a plexiglass barrier, I could clearly hear several staff members joking about my name. They repeatedly tried pronouncing it while laughing, made comments like "use Google Translate," told each other they needed to "roll their R's," and continued joking back and forth. I looked at them, and one of them asked, "Oh, you can hear us?" I responded, "Yes, I can." They apologized, but by then the damage had already been done. There is nothing wrong with not knowing how to pronounce someone's name. Asking respectfully is completely appropriate. What is not appropriate is turning a patient's name into a joke while they are sitting within earshot. As a child, I dealt with classmates making fun of my name. I never expected to experience that again from grown adults working in a healthcare setting. At 30 years old, I should not have to walk into a dental office and feel like I'm back in a middle school cafeteria. Healthcare professionals should make patients feel comfortable, respected, and welcome. Instead, I was made to feel embarrassed over something as personal as my name. I hope this office takes this seriously, reminds its staff to be mindful of what patients can hear, and provides additional training on professionalism and respect. Every patient deserves to be treated with dignity, regardless of whether their name is familiar or unfamiliar

Today I had a huge old filling thst had been giving me some issues,taken out and replaced. I felt no pain. She os the most gentle dentist and has the absolute best personality. Fantastic experience: I don't know how it's taken me so long to leave a review. Everyone here is lovely and very communicative. I see Carla with Dr. Tran, and previously Dr. Eum and all of them have always been so great to visit. They listen to your concerns and are very thorough.

Fantastic experience: Just moved back to the area temporarily due to my husband getting deployed and not only are they fantastic with accommodation to get you in, they are absolutely wonderful with people who have service dogs! They even gave my little man some water and put bluey on the tv for him. The front desk was so sweet and kind, my hygienist was so sweet and super gentle with me and the doctor I saw was just so knowledgeable and personable. I couldn’t ask for a better experience with my teeth! They treat you like family and would reccomend to anyone I know!

Fantastic experience: Just had a tooth pulled at the Newark location and the dentist and his team were so nice, explaining the game plan and ensuring I was taken care of. Without a doubt, they did a great job as I would highly recommend them. Negative experience: Imagine being in a desperate amount of pain and calling your dentist, only to be met with someone who is unbelievably cavalier, dismissive, and cruel. I had an incredibly upsetting experience with Progressive Dental Arts during a dental emergency. I was in severe pain and called the office desperate to be seen. The person on the phone was shockingly dismissive and cavalier. I was told to “just take Tylenol” and initially refused an appointment altogether. I had to beg to be seen before they finally gave me an appointment for the next day. When I came in, the dentist himself seemed uninterested but at least attentive enough to recognize and acknowledge I was genuinely in pain and needed treatment. However, he said he didn’t have time to treat me that day and suggested it could be done within the next couple of days. An assistant or hygienist assured him they would “find a slot” and not to worry. That turned out to be completely untrue. When I went to the front desk, I was told the next available appointment was two weeks later. I was stunned. The front desk staff were cold, dismissive, and uninterested. I explained that I couldn’t eat, that I was in constant pain, and that I was desperate for some kind of help. I was so hungry I could have cried. Their demeanor alone was deeply troubling, especially in a healthcare setting where patients are vulnerable and in pain. I explained repeatedly that I hadn’t been able to eat and was desperate for help. I was briefly offered a last-minute partial solution with one hour’s notice, which would have interfered with my job. When I asked if it could be scheduled later that day, they refused to budge. Again, the issue wasn’t just scheduling — it was the lack of empathy and the outright cruelty in how I was spoken to. I later called back asking to speak with a dentist, hoping that if a dentist understood I would be left untreated for weeks, they might offer at least a temporary solution. The person on the phone scoffed and told me I couldn’t speak to a dentist and should just take ibuprofen. My pain was dismissed entirely. I eventually found another dentist who was compassionate, listened carefully, and explained that the treatment Progressive Dental Arts proposed wouldn’t have worked anyway and could have made things worse. I am grateful I didn’t proceed — I would have paid for ineffective treatment while continuing to suffer. This practice feels like it’s been on a downward slope for a while. They are clearly overwhelmed and juggling too many patients, and their attitude reflects that. They may not miss losing one patient, but for new patients — don’t bother. If you’re in pain and need compassion or timely care, look elsewhere.This practice feels overwhelmed, overbooked, and indifferent to patient suffering. If you are a new patient or someone who values compassion and timely care, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere. Their attitude makes it clear they don’t need or want more patients.

Positive experience: I was scheduled for my biannual cleaning appointment and it went very well. However, I ended up waiting almost a half hour for the dentist to come and check everything, but, it turned out that he had left the building. Now, I have to go back on Friday.

Fantastic experience: I had my wisdom teeth taken out by Vinh Nguyen, D.M.D. And he was very quick, and very thorough. And he continuously checked on me asking if I was good throughout the procedure. Definitely would recommend him and this establishment to everyone else. Thank you guys so much.

Negative experience: Started working with this office a few years back and for about 2 years I had a good experience. After that however it became very difficult to secure even a 6 month appointment and I went about 2 years without a dental check up, the last time I was there the staff was not very courteous and were sort of dismissive. So I am done with this office, and would not recommend it to anyone

Fantastic experience: I am admittedly not an easy patient per se, I have serious dental anxiety/fear and it often gets the best of me. I was very worried about how my office visit was going to go, all of the staff at this office were INCREDIBLE. From scheduling my appointment to my exam/x-rays and eventual extraction. Jenn and Dr. Vinh are a dream team. They both walked me through every step, hyped me up and when I forgot my headphones, the doctor allowed me to use his headphones and his phone to listen to music to distract myself. I have never been treated so kindly in a medical setting. HIGHLY recommend this practice and doctor specifically. I look forward to returning for the rest of my dental needs. ❤️ Thank you!

Negative experience: I’m sure the doctors are great. But the office staff lacks customer service, patient care and empathy. My “coordinator “ lied and was not forthcoming with information. Front desk staff should learn they are the face of the office and mind their facial expressions while dealing with patients.

Negative experience: My first visit at Progressive Dental Arts. Not a good experience. Poor communication - the front desk folks entered my date of birth incorrectly and no one could find me in Progressive's system. In addition, I expected a cleaning today during my first visit and no one informed me that the first visit is for xrays and an examination only. Cleanings are on performed during the second visit. Communication is key and critical.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Nguyen and his staff are wonderful! They are patient, kind and understanding. I had a tooth extracted on Tuesday, and I was concerned as to whether it was healing properly. Karla Powell, the Treatment Coordinator got me in see Dr. Nguyen so that I could be reassured that the healing was going well and that I had nothing to worry about. I could not recommend this office more highly.

Negative experience: This was by far the worst dental experience of my life. I had my first cleaning with hygienist Kristen ( she works there on Fridays) which was extremely painful. I didn’t complain at the time, though I left feeling almost traumatized and very hesitant to return. Six months later, I decided to give it another try. At the start of the appointment, I explained that my last cleaning had been painful and asked her to be gentle, as I have sensitive gums. Kristen got a but defensive but applied a numbing gel. Unfortunately, the same issue happened again—she proceeded with the cleaning without showing much care for the discomfort she was causing. I asked her once more to be gentle, but nothing changed. The pain was so intense that I ended up leaving the session in tears, mid-cleaning. I’ve never had such a painful dental cleaning in my life, and what made it worse was that neither the hygienist nor any other staff member acknowledged or showed concern when I left visibly distressed. There was no effort to check in or even ask what had happened. Trying to speak to a manager was equally frustrating. If you have sensitive teeth or gums, I strongly advise avoiding this practice.

Fantastic experience: I cannot recommend Dr. Vinh and his team enough. I had an accident this year which caused damage to my front teeth. I had been phobic of dentists for years, and was terrified that I now had to visit the dentist due to the trauma in my mouth. Looking back now, I’m actually happy that I had this accident, because not only did they restore my smile, but their compassion and education has helped me overcome my fear of dentists. And my mouth and gums are the healthiest they’ve ever been. The whole team is incredible and compassionate. Thank you, Dr. Vinh!

Fantastic experience: THEY MADE ME CRY!!!! In a GOOD way! Dr. Vinh and assistant Mina were amazing today!!! They always make sure you're feeling comfortable throughout your visit. I broke a front tooth and ended up needing a root canal and the tooth next to it had pretty bad decay. I was embarrassed to smile, laugh or even talk closely with others without covering my mouth. To top it off I have family coming to visit in one week! They made my day by "doing a little magic" to make me look presentable while I wait to get my crowns! I couldnt be more happy with the results! Definitely cant forget Miss Karla at the front desk! She is so sweet and helpful. Always willing to answer any questions to help you understand billing etc. Thank you all again so much!!! See ya in a couple weeks! ❤️

Negative experience: Appointment for my child was given at 2 pm , we reached at 145 pm.Got to know that our appointment is at 220 pm Waited till 250 pm . No update was given by front desk , when asked Miss Calra from front desk was very rude like she is doing some favour , very unprofessional . Unsatisfied with staff at front desk.

Fantastic experience: Today i got my wisdom teeth removed and my experience was great. Dr. Vihn Nguyen was excellent, He was in and out in 5 minutes. My procedure did not feel rushed, he took his time, he answered all my concerns and questions.

Negative experience: One of the nightmare experience I did go through last year by choosing this office for my dental needs. All I would say is please don't loose your money and end up in painful days due to the poor service. The greedy office will take out all insurance benefits and leave you with nothing when you go to a professional follow ups. I have chosen a different dental office for the year 2025. I blame myself for not reading the reviews and end up choosing this office last year. Good bye to low quality service!

Negative experience: The staffs in this clinic are not nice especially billing section. We had an appointment in Dec. 5, 2024. As most other clinics usually call + text/email, this clinic did not call and text message or email us to remind the appointment which all the communication tools were previously provided. As senior person, the appointment setting up 5 months ago was forgotten. The missed appointment was billed. We sent a letter to the clinic and politely explain the responsibility of both sides and ask for a waiver. However, no response is received. Then a call to talk to my doctor was rudely refused. The miserable experience hinders our continuation of visit. The service in this clinic is negative.example of medical clinic.

Negative experience: Avoid this dental office at all costs!!! they are terrible! As a former dental assistant, I know exactly how fillings should be done, and the dentist here did a horrible job. I had to return twice in one day just to have it corrected, and it still looks awful. On top of that, I later received a bill claiming I owed money for X-rays, even though I never had any X-rays done. When I called to confirm, the receptionist told me the X-rays were from November 2024. I asked her to email me the images, and none of them were from that date. Having worked in the dental field, I know that some offices will charge for procedures you never actually received. Please be cautious and always review your billing breakdown carefully—there are offices out there committing insurance fraud. Protect yourself!

Fantastic experience: I recently became a patient here in January after being referred by a current patient. I highly recommend this practice for the dentist are very friendly, knowledgeable and most important NOT SCAMMERS! I have seen Dr Vin mostly and Dr Rodney my most recent visit! I’m trying to get my smile white and bsck to the way it use to be 5 years ago. It was recommended I get bonded filings and a crown on one of the front teeth. I will mention that I was not happy that a dentist came in room not wearing a mask after recently being sick! I just missed 4 days from work in January and do not need to be sick again. With the flu soaring at this time, you can still be contagious! Otherwise, I am very happy here and feel I can get my smile back in time!

Fantastic experience: I needed to go to this office, because I needed new dentures. The office staff is AMAZING. I am so upset with there lab. When I went the first time to get them & took them home, they felt horrible & looked so bad. So I had to take them back again, we did this after Christmas. I really need these dentures back, because my family is giving me an 80th birthday party. And we are not going to cancel this, since invitation went out. So disappointed in there lab & so upset with them.

Negative experience: This was our 2nd time, our first time experience was fantastic, Paula was my husband’s hygienist and she was great. But on our last visit Valerie was my hygienist ( she’s great) but whoever was my hygienist was absolutely terrible, my husband didn’t even let her finish the entire cleaning and came because of the pain, she wasn’t gentle at all, she kept hurting while cleaning and because of of that his mouth was hurting and bleeding, when I called them to share my experience the hygienist coordinator said my husband was bleeding because he’s got gum problem, he needs to brush, I seriously don’t understand without even addressing or listening to the whole story she just simply ignored. Unfortunately my husband can’t even remember her name, but they should have known. Even though my experience was good, my husband’s experience was absolutely horrible, extremely disappointed.

Negative experience: Do not go there. Tooth broken. Give shots. They hit a nerve face drooped. Very painful. Tried to walk me out before they were finished. Took lots of x-rays said they couldn't see them. Didn't not put a paper on my chest when I said something very rude and grabbed one and didn't even hook it. Also young ones that work there talked crap to each other. Plus they measured my gums without me knowing they where going to do that that person was not nice. Knowing I was in pain . I was in worst pain when I left there. Had to go to a different dentist to finish. Then 9 days later they emailed a xray of my mouth. Very strange.

Negative experience: Cheating. I called front for first visit price they told me is $70 with X-ray and check up. I confirm 3 times with the lady in the call. She said yes. But after my visited they asked me pay $145, Cheater. I asked why is different. She said they take 3 sides X-ray. But I didn’t ask for that! And no one tell me!!

Negative experience: I'd like to thank Progressive Dental for their new patient policy for existing patients ( funny, isn't it ? ) , and how they motivated me to discover Emerald Dental...which not only saw me within 7 days of my very first call, they also did my initial X-Ray and cleaning on my very first visit ! My wait time at Emerald was zero minutes. Emerald's office is beautiful, the staff are terrific, and they did an awesome, very thorough job ! Thank you Progressive for reinforcing a valuable life lesson !

Fantastic experience: LOOK NO FURTHER!!!!! Best dentists, and I MEAN that. I recently made a post review for my original dentist and since then had to find a new one based on insurance changes. I expected Progressive Care to be so-so in comparison, since I have only been comfortable at one dentist since a child. On top of that, have tried two other offices and had very bad experiences. I came into Progressive Dental Arts on a wimb feeling hopeless, previously embarrased and ashamed from Middletown Dental Care, all to be walked thru my xrays, literally consoled thru my tears and anxiety, and Dr Liu created a whole detailed plan to fix all of my teeth. Best part, he did not have me feeling like I am worthless because of some teeth issues. I left the office feeling hopeful seeing a light at the end of the tunnel, with a slew of the best referrals to help me. Not to mention the bedside courtesy was outstanding, I felt at home in an office chair! Everyone from the Dr himself to his assistants, to the girls up front; what a delightful and warm experience. What a difference walking in the door and out of it. My fears and worries have now dissolved once more, THANK YOU DR LIU AND PROGRESSIVE EMPLOYEES!! Cheers to a bright smiling future!

Fantastic experience: This has been the best dentist experience I ever had in my life. I went in for a root canal and I didn’t feel any pain during or after. Dr Tran and Sam was amazing they always asked me how I was feeling, they are such a dynamic duo. I can not believe how amazing my visit has been. I went back for my second part and it was so smooth. The office staff was friendly and very professional. I will not be going to any other dentist office. If you want to have a great experience please come here you won’t be disappointed. Fantastic experience: First time here and I had a great experience. Shout out to Karla for setting up my first appointment. I accidentally came in during the start of their lunch period and it would have been totally fair to ask me to come back later but she insisted on getting me set up. A++ service. On the day of my cleaning appointment I checked in and at the minute when my appointment was scheduled an assistant called my name and guided me to the dentist room. The cleaning went by smoothly and I was in and out within a reasonable amount of time. Overall the service and staff was amazing, they are well organized, punctual, and I look forward to continuing going to them for dental appointments.

Fantastic experience: For various reasons, I need to have all of my teeth extracted. This process has taken me many years and I’ve been to several different dentists. I came to Progressive Dental about a year ago because I had a tooth that was very pailful that wasn’t getting better with antibiotics. After dealing with other dentists, I expected that first appointment to be nothing more than a consultation and then they would schedule a time to actually remove the tooth. I had previously been told that no dentist would touch my mouth and I would need an oral surgeon to remove my teeth because of how broken they were. Carla was able to fit me in that same day with Dr. Nguyen. I wanted to cry when he told me he would get me out of pain that same day. Not only did he take out the tooth that was bothering me, but he did 3 more the same day. He would have done more, but I didn’t want to go over my insurance limits. I previously had all of my top teeth removed by various different dentists and the healing process for them was longer and more painful. I’m not sure what Dr. Nguyen does differently, but each time I’ve been to him, I’m in virtually no pain by the next day. I will never go to another dentist. This office has been great to me.

I actually enjoy going to the dentist so much that I might stop brushing for extra appointments Carla, Linda, Dr. Tran, Jennifer, and Dr. Alan are all great people I've had the experience of dealing with! Negative experience: The lady named CARLA at the front reception is RUDE, Unreasonably kept me waiting for ages on the phone in the name of Checking my insurance, while I have been at this practice for the last 3 yrs with same insurance!!!! Make sure YOU DO NOT let CARLA to assist you. There is another Carla who sits inside in an individual room and she is fine!

Negative experience: It has been very disappointing to deal with the administration and scheduling staff of this place, I received many calls to move my hygienist appointment and while I was very flexible to accommodate the changes, one of their staff members called me and pushed the appointment again two more months a head and told me this is the only option. No respect for people time and very rude in the way she talks, she made me feel like she is doing me a favour and not providing a paid service. It’s hard to believe how a large company like this can’t accommodate such a service and really went down in their customer service ranking

Fantastic experience: Dr. Patel is very knowledgeable and easy to talk to, he takes his time and explains everything that needs to be done and answers all your questions. I was very impressed by everyone at the Newark office, they are very friendly and discreet. They make sure you feel comfortable and at ease at all times. Highly recommend!

Karla was incredibly helpful in working with my insurance to have me setup as a new patient with the practice. Karla helped me understand the process and necessary steps I needed to take in order to schedule my first appointment. Karla also ensured I could schedule an appointment promptly as I was having an issue at the time. Karla’s support and guidance was valuable and appreciated. The Doctor and Nurse who assisted me in my appointment were fantastic as well. They made sure I was comfortable and clearly explained the work they were doing on my tooth. It was a great experience.
