Fantastic experience: My kids actually asked when they get to go back next! Everyone was so great with them and the environment is fantastic for kids. 10/10 recommend

Fantastic experience: Our kids have been going here for a few years and we have always had amazing experiences. Our kids genuinely look forward to their cleanings. The staff had done a great job at helping to avoid dental anxiety and explaining dental issues to both us as parents and to our children.

Negative experience: If I could rate it a 0 I would. My daughter has been coming here for 7-8 years and these past few 1-2 years have been completely horrible. I don’t even know where to start. Let’s start with how they have no patience with my child and a lot of children I have seen. My 7 year old has suffered extreme dental anxiety from these people. Dr. Cathy is rude to her, makes her feel like she’s a nuisance and does not calm her or talk to her in a gentle way to make her feel like everything will be okay. They tell me how she is refusing any treatment and push it off on to another appointment. They seem so irritated with her. Keep in mind, she has never formed dental anxiety until these past 1-2 years. She tells me they hurt her and don’t listen to her when she asks them to be gentle. There was a time where Dr. J has called my daughter by the wrong name in an exam room. What really drew the line was they messed up a procedure and caused my daughter to have a HORRIBLE gum infection to where one side of her face has swelled up like a balloon and the awful pain she was in was heart breaking. They did prescribe Antibiotics to clear infection before treatment to be done on that tooth. They CANCELED her appointment a few days prior of her appointment and wanted me to call to reschedule it. Considering how time sensitive this is, that this infection can come back at any minute from a procedure they MESSED UP. This is DENTAL NEGLIGENCE! There is NO care here. I will be reporting this dental office. DO NOT take your kids here. My daughter is now currently seeing a new dentistry, and so far she is doing so much better and calmer at dental appointments. We still have some work to do because of Wild Smiles negligence but over all we feel a lot safer and happier.

Negative experience: Do not take your children here. Unfortunately, we went to Wild Smiles one time after needing a last-minute appointment when our regular dentist was booked for weeks. I wish we had waited. The hygienist my daughter saw was unprofessional and spent more time talking with another hygienist than focusing on my daughter as the patient. Because of that lack of attention, my daughter’s teeth were repeatedly bumped with instruments, which should never happen during a cleaning. The biggest concern was the treatment plan that was recommended for my children. We were told they needed an extensive amount of dental work, including multiple root canals on baby teeth with silver crowns and several fillings. Something about the recommendations did not feel right, so we decided to get a second opinion before moving forward. We returned to our regular dentist, who took new X-rays and evaluated both children. The findings were completely different. My son only needed two small fillings .. that was it. This was months after our visit at Wild Smiles, and if he truly had the serious dental issues we were told about, you would expect those problems to have progressed. The difference between the two treatment plans was extremely concerning. I even compared the X-rays/tooth chart from our dentist with the treatment plan provided by Wild Smiles, and the recommendations did not align. Parents, please trust your instincts and always get a second opinion before agreeing to extensive dental work. I hope this review helps another family avoid the stress and confusion we experienced. Unfortunately this type of stuff happens all the time in the dental field. Always trust your gut.

Fantastic experience: The outstanding commitment to making dental care accessible includes payment plans that actually work for regular families not just theoretical options nobody qualifies for which happens at other medical offices unfortunately.

Fantastic experience: The exceptional way they manage multiple siblings prevents jealousy about prizes or attention ensuring each child feels equally special regardless of who needed more complex treatment during that particular visit today!

Negative experience: I had direct experience with this office & found the environment to be pretty unprofessional and uncomfortable. The workplace felt chaotic, and the interactions I witnessed between staff & leadership (mainly Dr Kathy) created a tense atmosphere. The way staff & patients were spoken to came across as impatient and disrespectful at times, which was concerning to observe. Overall, the environment did not feel calm, organized, or supportive. Based on my experience, I would NOT recommend this office. & Judging by the overwhelming number of similar reviews, my experience clearly wasn’t an isolated incident. Yikes

Negative experience: I would not recommend Wild Smiles to any parent whose child has dental anxiety or needs a dentist who is willing to take the time to work with children compassionately. At our visit, the dentist told us our then-8-year-old child would need multiple extractions and several crowns, and that the only option was to see a dental surgeon and have all of the work done under general anesthesia. When we asked for referrals or recommendations for a surgeon, we were simply told to "Google it." The dental assistant who cleaned our child's teeth was kind, patient, and reassuring. Unfortunately, our experience with the dentist was completely different. During the evaluation, she openly discussed "pull this" and "pull that" in front of our child, which understandably caused significant anxiety and fear. There seemed to be very little effort made to explain things in a child-friendly way or help our daughter feel comfortable. Thankfully, we trusted our instincts and sought a second opinion. The difference was night and day. The new pediatric dentist determined that our child did not need any teeth extracted at all. She successfully completed two crowns while fully awake and handled the entire procedure perfectly. The dentist and staff were patient, compassionate, and knew how to communicate with children. My daughter didn't even see or feel the lidocaine injection, and she left the appointment feeling proud and confident instead of scared. Because of that positive experience, she is now excited to go to the dentist and trusts dental professionals again. Wild Smiles may look fun and appealing to children, but appearances don't make up for a lack of patience, compassion, and child-centered care. Based on our experience, the office seemed far more interested in the quickest treatment plan than taking the time to work with a child and explore less invasive options.

Negative experience: I’ve been coming to this dental office for 6–7 years, and unfortunately my experience has been consistently disappointing. They only seem interested in doing basic cleanings and X-rays, but when it comes to actual treatment, they avoid it and refer everything out to the hospital. It feels like they only want to do the easy, routine work rather than genuinely help their patients. What’s even more frustrating is how they handle kids. As a parent, I expect a pediatric dental office to know how to work with children, but instead they quickly label kids as “uncooperative” and refuse to provide proper care. This completely defeats the purpose of going to a pediatric dentist in the first place. On top of that, the doctors—especially Dr. J and another female doctor—have been quite rude and dismissive. The overall attitude makes you feel uncomfortable rather than cared for. The office tries to attract kids with toys and a nice setup, but don’t be misled by that. The actual care and patient experience fall far short. After years of coming here, I regret not switching sooner. I would not recommend this place if you’re looking for compassionate, thorough dental care for your children.

Negative experience: These folks got a good thing going. They have a fancy waiting room and a room full of toys and prized but are absolutely cashing in on people’s kids. My son takes good care of his teeth. Brushes, flosses, mouthwash. But everytime his mother takes him there he ends up needing fillings. I was concerned so I took him there and wala, clean bill of health, perfect teeth! His mom takes him for his next visit and suddenly he needs fillings and $1500 worth of dental work. I decided to take him to another dentist for a second opinion. He did not need any fillings and the teeth they were claiming did were baby teeth on their way out. There is no way to tell how many of his teeth got fillings and didn’t need them at this point. He has been going to the new dentists for a few months now and has not needed a single filling since. Do not trust these people they gain your trust with the Disneyland effect and are robbing your insurance at the cost of your children’s dental health Additional: After writing this I decided to scroll through the other reviews. 99.9% of their 5 star reviews are from profiles that has only one maybe two single reviews ever in existence. The low star reviews have lots of reviews to them and several hearts attached to them. Take that for what it is…..

Negative experience: Staff is awesome don't care for the dentist she's not very friendly, doesn't interact with parents atleast she didn't with me. Told her my son had anxiety she acted like she didn't care. She feels if you don't let them know what you're going to do they'll be fine. I didn't see any compassion or comfort when he was crying saying you're hurting me.

Negative experience: If I could give 0 stars I would. We took our two kids to this dentist for the first time and it was a huge mistake. First, the ladies at the front desk yelled at my two kids for walking around the tree and popping out at each other..they were not running or yelling and their dad was sitting next to them. Which their office, their rules, okay but you are a childrens doctors, you should be used to that and even so, address their father not the children. I am not among the opinion that anyone can yell at anyones kid. They also do not allow you to go back with your kids, which if I had taken them I would have left immediately. Then they wanted my son to get a crown put in, we scheduled the appointment and they gave him gas, and when their dad was checking out they wanted to schedule an appointment in two weeks for a second crown..we were never told of a second crown and were really confused as to why it wasn't done at the same time. Because now my son has to get gas TWICE. They told us they wont do two crowns on opposite sides of the mouth at the same time, but if it was the same side they would? We are very concerned with this because that cannot be good for kids to have gas twice in one month instead of just knocking it out, not to mention we are being charged twice for the gas, also sounds like a money grab. Upon further investigation, I called 3 pediatric dentist and they ALL said they actually recommend AGAINST using gas twice for the exact reasons I stated and they always do all dental work at one time. I then sent their "recommendations" to my dentist who has done my kids cleanings but does not do the dental work, and he believes they were giving MORE work than he recommends. Numerous dentists told me to not use this place after stating where I took them. Very upset for not listening to my intuition to begin with. They are profiting off parents who do not know better, and the kids are at the hands of. Disgusting practice, rude staff, and unsettling form of dental practice. UPDATE: they called me and told me the reason they want to give my son gas is because he didn't cooperate. So if your kid doesn't act like a perfect hands crossed kid, they just want to use drugs to sedate them and are nasty towards them. Take your kid somewhere else.

Negative experience: Only the dental assistants and hygienists are nice. Dr. Kathy is very arrogant and isn’t friendly at all. Doesn’t make you feel like asking any questions, you’re literally just trying to be in and out so you don’t have to deal with her attitude. Leads to misunderstandings and a lack of info being shared because she’s trying to get what she needs to get done and move to the next patient.

Negative experience: I give this dentist office zero Stars. My daughter came in twice and she was supposed to have work done and she never did. I just went in today, signed a bunch of consent forms and went back into the office thinking that she was going to have her tooth extracted when the dentist told me he couldn't do it and then referred me somewhere else. He said due to last time with her not cooperating he didn't want to move forward with today's appointment .He wasted my time when I could have just had a phone call telling me not to come in. I took off work for no reason and took my daughter out of school thinking that she was going to have her tooth extracted today. Now we have to start all over again Thanks to wild smiles. Our pediatric dentist should have never referred us there. He didn't even give me a good reason as to why he couldn't do the surgery And he didn't even give me any good names of oral surgeons . I wouldn't recommend anyone taking their kids there And I sincerely mean that.

Negative experience: I really hate writing negative reviews but I wanted to share how upset I was with our last visit. We used to Love them and my last visit with my daughter (in January) was great! My 4 year old daughter had her teeth cleaning/ X-rays due at this last visit. The way the staff assisted my child today was down right upsetting. They basically made her feel sad and myself as well! The one hygienist was parenting over me and that is NEVER okay. She told my daughter she had to stop crying and be a big girl and that it wasn’t fair for her because my daughter didn’t “try” to get her teeth properly cleaned with the electric tools. She’s 4…..t They tech that took my daughters X-rays got upset because she could not get the pictures of my daughters back teeth..she scuffed and eye rolled and said “okay, we are not getting those” Im sorry but you are a pediatric dentist office, you work with CHILDREN. Im a preschool teacher and I know children have their moments but you SHOULD NEVER make a child feel less of themselves! I am so upset with how my child was treated and we will not be returning.

Negative experience: I wish I could give 0 or minus review. Dr. CATHY is very rude and impatient with the child. she refused my 6 years old complimentary gift saying she was not cooperative. My two daughters (6 and 7 years old) went for some protection layer treatment for teeth.  They don't let parents goes in with the children. My little one was coughing, and she has done the work half - that why she didn't give her the complimentary gift as a punishment. The assistant told this line "Dr Cathy said, she was not cooperative that why she will not get gift today". Thank that what happening inside my 6 years old mind that time. I have to give back my other daughter's gift to them, as can't tolerate one will get and one will not. She may be a good doctor, but she needs some child psychology training and some patient training. I just went through some comments in the Google review -- found that this was not the first time parents compline about Dr. Cathe's impatient behaviors. It's not that I can't buy toys, but this complimentary gift toy made children's go back to the dentist. Very poor judgement of her. Planning to change the Dentist now. Enough is enough.

When my children come out, they continuously report the techs are not friendly and impatient and that Dr. Harris (wife) is quick and dismissive; unconcerned with child’s comfort level. In looking at some of Dr. Harris’ responses to reviews, it’s clear to see just how dismissive she is to both the children and parents.

But First off if you have a toddler your not allowed in the back ..I already didn’t trust that because toddlers can’t tell you if someone was mean or nice I always got a bad vibe and finally one day my child had to go to the back while I was talking to someone one of the girls grabbed my child up out the seat from the back for X-ray didn’t say hi to my child or let my child know what was going on didn’t even say hi to me after that I left and decided to find a dentist where I can sit with my toddler you can’t trust people with your child when your not in the room..People in it for the money these days..No longer have care for people..

Fantastic experience: My child is 14 years old and we have been coming to Wild Smile for several years now. Our appointments are easily scheduled, the hygienists run very close to schedule and are quick and efficient in their care of my child’s teeth!

Negative experience: It’s been said before, but please heed the one star reviews! So, like many others, I was referred to Wild Smiles from our family dentist. My kiddo is nervous around the dental tools and has been to three or so check-ups with varying levels of success. We brush teeth daily at home, watch YTKids videos on dentist visits and have multiple teeth/dental toys for pretend play/exposure. She has some staining and ridges on her back molars and our traditional dentist couldn’t get a great look because she got restless in the chair, so they referred us to WS because they’re specialize in pediatric dentistry. We were excited (even though they’re out of network and at greater cost to us) because we believed they’d have more of a calming routine and strategies to acclimate her to what was happening, maybe fun games to play, maybe a little extra time and care for her to not be nervous. WRONG. We were made to wait almost 20 minutes past our appointment in the lobby, our screening was done at a standing desk in an alcove where there was almost no interaction with my kid, then in for XRays where they say “normally, with kids this small they don’t turn out well, but we’ll try” (because of course they will, so they can charge you). But it further affected her because the bite plate stabs into your hard palate, and she was not a fan. They didn’t do much to calm her about it other than calling the bite plate a lollipop and shoving it in. No time to explain. No practice runs. No demonstrations with a model. Nothing. Then they gave up after 1.5 tries and moved into a neighboring room. In a flash the doctor was in, he didn’t introduce himself to her, didn't really take the time to get to know us, just asked what the issue was. Told him. He tried to look into her mouth on the chair, but she got nervous after leaning back and there was another stranger back there so she sat up. Then he asked me to hold her in my lap facing away from him to she could lay back with her head in his lap while I held her wrists. Further trauma. She screamed and cried. He was able to count the molars that needed to be looked at, but at what cost It was wildly uncomfortable. That kind of process just reinforces fear at the dentist. They don’t feel in charge of their bodies and don’t trust. When he was done I asked about specifics and he basically rattled off a bunch of medical terms and said “we’ll need to do anesthesia because OBVIOUSLY” and well, of course you’ll recommend that. It’s thousands of dollars when we could have just gone about all this slowly and by gaining her trust, demonstrating, turning the tv on with the volume to distract her, singing a song, ANYTHING. Any kid of child centered strategy you’d think a pediatric dentist themed like a jungle would do. But nope. Let’s just dive into the traumatic physically man-handling strategy first. Then he gave me a spiel about how typically, they wouldn’t pull in a patient that “wasn’t theirs” for anesthesia, but he’d “make an exception” which is so transparently a sales manipulation tactic to make the buyer feel grateful or indebted to the offer and take it up with urgency. Hard pass. Then when he practically shooed me out of the office to sign a bunch of things quickly (which upon further review say “you acknowledge you were given enough time to process information and ask questions” - laughable) and handed a sheet that details almost $2k in potential fees even before anesthesia. All in all. It’s a money grab. They’re not here to eliminate dental fear for children. They’re here to push parents into costly procedures with minimal bedside manner or just general customer service. We won’t be returning.

Thank-you for your feedback. We are disappointed that you felt that you and your daughter did not have a good experience at our office. Our office prides itself on providing high quality, individualized care. Although rare, there are occasions when a child or family requires a little more time than we had anticipated, which sets us back a few minutes. We are sorry that you had to wait a few extra minutes.

When a 3- or 4-year-old presents to our office for a first visit and has had no previous dental experiences or only negative dental experiences, it is very challenging for us to earn their trust and comfort immediately. If it were as simple as singing a song or blaring a TV, our job would be very easy. Unfortunately, it is a process. The most successful approach involves a first visit at our office at around age 1, then recall visits every 6 months thereafter. By the time that child is 3 or 4 years old, they will accept typically any treatment that is necessary, including x-rays. Keep in mind, as a pediatric office, we have equipment that is specifically designed for smaller mouths. Nothing we use “stabs into your hard palate”. In an otherwise cooperative 3- or 4-year-old, we are typically able to obtain diagnostic x-rays. There are times when we are not successful, but it is still important to try. Repetition is key to earning that trust. X-rays also provide valuable information needed to develop an accurate treatment plan.

You expressed concerns about the cost of general anesthesia (GA) for dental treatment. We recommend GA when a patient’s age, level of cooperation and volume of dental treatment needs precludes the ability to provide routine dental care in a safe and comfortable manner. In these cases, our office does not provide the anesthesia services; we simply provide the dental treatment. The fees you mention are those of the office that we use to provide the anesthesia services for us, which are fair and consistent with other anesthesia groups. In fact, they are only a fraction of the cost for general anesthesia care in a hospital setting. Our office does not charge any additional fees to offer this service. We certainly understand your frustration at the cost of treating dental decay, especially since it is almost 100% preventable. This is primarily the reason we are hesitant to offer this service to those who are not already established patients at our office. It is not a “sales manipulation tactic” as you describe. We feel it is important to educate our parents on oral hygiene and prevention of tooth decay on an on-going basis as we develop a relationship with them. There is only so much information we can review in a single consultation visit without making the parent feel overwhelmed.

We truly hope that you find an office that is a better fit for you and that your daughter receives the care she needs.

Positive experience: I have 2 daughters that are patients at this office. They are 10 and 18. My oldest has been a patient of theirs for about 13 years. Initially we were taken back when we found out that parents are not allowed in the back. Especially when it was her first appt. However she did great and we had no concerns. Actually not too long ago, I was allowed to go back with my youngest, so they will allow you if you ask. I never have had concerns until recently. My oldest has complained that the dental hygienist is not very gentle when cleaning her teeth and when she squirms or reacts to the discomfort, the hygienist makes her feel like she did something wrong. Both of my children expressed that she was not the friendliest. I am not sure who she was but per my children, she was “older”. Of note, we always request the 4:30 appt due to our work schedules. The last few times my children went, my oldest commented that she felt as though they were rushing and were not very careful when cleaning her teeth causing some discomfort. She even said that one of them commented about this being the last appt and they were ready to get out of there. The comments that have been made recently make me not want my children to have the late appts if it’s going to be obvious that the staff don’t want to be there. I get it, everyone is tired at the end of the day and can’t wait to get home. However, as a health care professional myself, I know that no matter how tired I am or how bad my day is, my patients will never know it. The front staff are very professional and the lady that takes my children back are very nice as well. The back staff, I’m starting to have concerns about.

Negative experience: I use to take my kids to this dentist office until one morning I took my daughter there to get some work done on her tooth. Dr. J asked me to give my daughter the pain medicine to relax her, which I thought was very odd. Working in healthcare I know that the only person administering the medicine should be the one giving it, not me. The dosage given did not seem like enough but I figured he’s the dentist, i would hope he wouldn’t do anything illegal. So I said to myself, let me give my daughter this medicine so she can get back to school and I could get back to work. I gave it to her and after only a few minutes, he started the procedure. My daughter was not calm at all from the medicine. She started To cry right after he hit started, she kept saying it hurts. So while I’m sitting in the corner, I’m talking to her, trying to calm her down. She started to calm down a little bit but as he proceeded, she started to cry more. Now I was worried because I know my child, like any other mother, and this I knew was not just a cry because she didn’t want to be here, this was a cry that she was really in pain, she was kicking her feet, she was holding her hands together, and she had a lot of tears running down her face. I couldn’t watch my child suffer anymore, I asked him to stop because he was not going to stop even with her that upset. He blew his breath, saying that she needed to have it done, i asked could we wait a few minutes to let the medicine kick in. He said no we would have to reschedule. I explained to him that I couldn’t keep taking off of work and I didn’t want her to keep missing school. This man had a nerve to get smart, we exchanged words and I told him I’m not going to watch my child suffer bc of something you want to rush through so it’s either we wait, give her more medicine to relax her or we’ll go somewhere else. He stormed out the room, blowing his breathe. I consoled my daughter and asked the assistant to give my paperwork bc we would never come back again. And we never did!!! This happened to us some time ago but that experience has left my daughter with a fear of going to the dentist which is why I’m writing this review. To prevent another parent or child from going through this. Don’t let the nice office decor fool you, this man is not polite or good with kids at all. I don’t know if he has short man syndrome, unhappy or not but his attitude is nasty.

Thank-you for your feedback. Feedback is certainly most useful to both parties when it occurs soon after an event. After an extended period of time, it is likely that one's recollections are no longer accurate. We do appreciate your feedback and we truly aspire to meet every child's needs with safety and comfort as our primary goals. We are certain that, by now, you have found another office that better suits your needs.

Negative experience: The atmosphere was great, which is why I gave this place 2 stars, the doctor not so much. This was my sons first dental visit (he’s 2) and I felt very rushed through the whole process. I don’t even know what the doctors name was, she failed to introduce herself. the staff at the front and the dental assistant were all very nice. It’s ashame because I Immediately made an appointment elsewhere to get a second opinion when I left. I will not be going back.

Negative experience: Tried to talk us into a very expensive and involved procedure for my three year old (which included putting her to sleep). Contacted another office for a second opinion and our new dentist told us that not only the suggested procedure what unnecessary, ANY procedure s was unnecessary. Our daughter’s teeth are “perfectly fine” per our new dentist while wild smiles wanted to operate on EIGHT teeth. Be wary of this place!

Mrs. James,
We appreciate that you expressed your concerns with our office, but, frankly, we are concerned that you found a dentist that told you what you wanted to hear instead of what you know is the truth. We showed you, and subsequently your husband, the extent of your daughter’s decay, both directly in her mouth and on the x-rays that we took. It does not take a trained eye to see the decay. We understand how difficult it is to accept that your child has tooth decay. We see it all the time and despite our reassurance, parents often feel guilty and feel like it is a poor reflection on them as parents. And it is not. Parenting is not easy. We understand because we are parents, too. A lot of parents simply don’t understand everything that contributes to tooth decay. And it’s understandable because there are a lot of factors involved. That’s why we feel it’s important to spend a lot of time discussing diet, dietary habits and oral hygiene with our patient’s parents. If you recall, we had that discussion with you and helped you identify a major contributing factor to your daughter’s tooth decay. In addition, we discussed multiple treatment options to address her decay. We discussed silver diamine fluoride (SDF) as a more conservative approach, as well as restoring the teeth under general anesthesia. It is very common to have to use general anesthesia when the treatment needs are extensive and/or the patient’s behavior precludes routine dentistry. It is quite likely that your new dentist suggested that the teeth not be treated at all because he or she does not have the expertise or the armamentarium to treat your child effectively. A lot of general dentists don’t even have SDF in their offices, and some don’t even have x-rays small enough for a 3-year-old. But, to say that your daughter’s teeth are “perfectly fine” is doing both you, as parents, and especially your daughter, a grave disservice. We truly hope that you find a dental office where you feel comfortable enough to trust their recommendations and get your daughter the treatment she needs.
