Fantastic experience: My first appointment with Northborough Dental. Everything went smoothly. Dr Donohue and staff were great!

Positive experience: My first visit the assistant took me in the room she was quite, didn’t say hello or say her name just right in on doing the X-rays. The dentist came in and again didn’t say hello introduce herself just checked my teeth told me my next steps and left the room. I felt a bit uncomfortable. I don’t know their names because they never greeted me. I went back the very next day and my hygienist was very pleasurable and comforting. The dentist came in and this time she was pleasant, introduced herself, asked if I had any questions. This time I felt much more comfortable. Samantha and Dr. Donahue were perfect! Made me feel comfortable, they were personable and continued to check in on me. The office was friendly, personable and explained the insurance process as well as out-of-pocket payment that I would owe. Scheduling with Leah was smooth, fast, and easy. The office was very punctual. They took me in at the exact appointment time and I was out of the office in the exact time I was told. Seamless, fast and on schedule. Overall, I am happy with my visits at Northborough Dental and I’m hoping to continue to have positive dental experiences going forward. Thank you! Kerry C

Negative experience: I wonder if the owner realizes that your front desk and manager can make you loss patients? We are very disappointed with the front desk and the manager Leah. They are not responsible, not reliable!! In addition, your office (likely it’s from the manager Leah) had changed our long-term dental hygienists at times without noticing us, even though our regular dental hygienists were working on those days when we came. I can’t recommend this place and definitely don’t want to work with its front desk and manager!

Negative experience: I went back to Northborough Dental Associates after moving back to the area. The care level is fine, the people are friendly, but there have definitely been a few surprises that are significant. When I came back as a “new” patient, my first appointment was just a check up and a cleaning had to be scheduled separately. Not the end of the world, but meant find more time to go back just a few weeks later. My bigger issue came over a filling. I needed an old filling replaced. They used a composite filling without any discussion of the options or cost. Problem was, my insurance doesn’t cover composite fillings on posterior teeth. When I talking to billing about this there was definitely no empathy. The explanation was that they always use composite unless they are instructed otherwise and they only do an estimate is requested in advance. I’ve been to dentists all over the country (and world) and I had always had them initiate the cost conversation is there were options in care. So, if you go to Northborough Dental Associates make sure you know your insurance coverage inside and out and makes sure you ask about options and the costs (because you can’t count on them the initiate the conversation m). The net-net for me is a filling that cost 4x my expected amount.

Fantastic experience: This is an excellent dental practice that truly prioritizes patient comfort and high-quality care. The dentist explains everything clearly, offers thoughtful treatment options, and never makes you feel rushed or pressured. The team is friendly, gentle, and attentive (especially Heidi, my favorite hygienist), and the office is clean, modern, and well-organized from check-in to checkout.

Fantastic experience: The Dental technician was very thorough and conducted a professional cleaning of my teeth. Additionally she informed me about areas in my mouth where calcium removal was critical to stop gum loss or damage. She also informed me of alternate flossing methods and tools to better remove calcium build up in the back of the mouth. Great experience!

Fantastic experience: I had a minor repair needed and they were able to get me in swiftly. I was a bit apprehensive since I had seen one of the former dentists for years, but I was super happy with Dr Donohue. She explained what was she was going to do and told me what to expect next, every step of the way. She is also very respectful and polite to all the assistants and office staff. Highly recommend Dr Donohue.

Positive experience: When I arrive for my Northboro Dental cleaning appointment. I was Surprisingly greeted by a new hygienist. It turned out my regular hygienist is there, but the office moved me to fill the new hygienist’s schedule without bothering to mention that in the multitude of text messages they have sent me before the appointment. The office manager denied knowing how the appointment was changed, But since my old hygienist did not change it, it must be the manager. they should notify their long-term patient who expects to see the same the hygienist they booked with six months ago. there seemed to be a lot of hygienist and Dentist turnovers in the last 2 years. I had a good experience with hygienist Sarah and dentist though.

Fantastic experience: I and my family have customers for 35 years. I enjoyed seeing Linda again after many years. She is a skilled hygienist. The dentist quickly diagnosed a problem with a partial plate and quickly fixed the problem.

Dr. Bridget makes every effort to address any questions or concerns you might have. Very skilled team to include the admin staff upon entry & exit of each visit!

Fantastic experience: I recently switched to Northboro Dental from another dental office, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the experience. The entire staff was very friendly and made me feel very comfortable from the moment I arrived. I especially appreciated the care provided by the hygienist, Janice. She was highly professional, cleaned my teeth thoroughly, and helped me feel at ease throughout the entire process.

Fantastic experience: After 22 years of never having a cavity i finally got a small one on the very back of my mouth and i was HORRIFIED. I scheduled my appointment with Dr. Pabaney and told him i was extremely anxious about this appointment as i have never had a cavity in my life. He was very understanding and told me everything was going to great, made me laugh as much as possible. What really highlights my procedure with him is that he talked me through the whole procedure, constantly reassuring me how amazing it was and always checking to see if i was ok. As someone who was really nervous, this really helped. His assistant Elisa was also very assuring and super gentle. She even let me hold her hand for the Novocain shot because i was such a wimp lol. At the end, Dr. P checked my bite and adjusted everything until i was comfortable and he showed me the beginning and end result. VERY professional and amazing at what he does. 100% recommend him for any procedure, he is so efficient and clearly has a passion for his job.

Negative experience: I was a patient at this office for over 20 years. I had the dentist that opened up the practice. After he retired, he left me in good hands with three very capable dentists as well as most of the office staff did not change. They are now owned by 42 North Dental Care, PLLC practice and this company is owned and operated by dentists Dr. Samuel Shames, DMD. and Dr. Ronald Weissman, DMD. Since they took over all the former dentists are gone and last I knew most of the staff had left. They put crowns on three implants I had done at an oral surgeon's office in December 2023. Last week, 18 months later, they sent me a huge bill. A week later I got an automated call asking for me to pay over $2500 right then. This is just one of the most absurd situations I have ever been in at a dental office. The doctor that did the crowns, Dr Pabaney, was the worst dentist I have ever had. I only went to them because I was with the practice when I first started the implant process. Not only was it a total nightmare just getting them to call me back to get an appointment but his chairside miner was rude, he had THE WORST BREATHE OF ANYONE I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED and he is supposedly a dentist. Even his dental assistant knew he smelled, the look on her face was a look of horror, even she couldn't take it. Since I've moved to the area there are so many other dentist's offices that you have to go anyplace else. Also, look for who the owners are, if they have anything to do with 42 North Dental Care, PLLC stay away. MY REPLY TO THEIR RESPONSE...I already called them and aired my grievances. They said unfortunately the billing calls are an automated system and it cannot be stopped. My only option is to use the finace company they recommend durring these robo -calls. It's either pays us in full or use our finance company. It was a 20 minute conversation with a person at their office, she was polite and did appoloize. Remember this procedure was a year and a half ago.

When I arrived, the staff at the front desk were friendly and welcoming. The appointment started on time and my hygienist, Janice, was excellent with the cleaning and x-rays. I moved into the exam with Dr. Donohue who was professional, really knowledgeable and welcoming. Finally, Lylan assisted Dr. Donohue with a couple of fillings - and they didn’t hurt even a little. A week later, the fillings are not sensitive at all…and they’re smooth. I have honestly struggled in years past to find the right dental office for me. This is a high quality operation. Will recommend to friends and family.

Negative experience: This is not a locally owned dentist office, they are run by the Private Equity firm 42 North Dental (same parent company as Gentle Dental). Was constantly getting “upsold” on extra services and treating cavities that didn’t exist. Gotta keep the private equity overlords happy. Transferred care to a real local practice and no more cavities, coincidence?

Negative experience: I recently visited Northborough Dental Associates for an initial exam, but unfortunately, it was not a good experience. The dentist insisted that I needed a deep cleaning, despite having had one less than a year and a half ago. When I requested to opt for a regular cleaning instead, the dentist refused, saying I needed to get records from my previous dentist before they could proceed. I felt uncomfortable and sensed that they were more focused on using my new insurance for costly procedures than on addressing my actual dental needs. Overall, I left feeling disappointed and would not recommend this practice based on my experience.

Fantastic experience: Each time I have an appointment, my expectations are blown away. I had the pleasure of seeing a new dental hygienist, Sarah, as my previous hygienist has retired. Sarah’s calming demeanor and gentle spirit put all of my nerves at ease. She explained everything right before she did the procedure in my mouth without me having to ask and throughout the cleaning she continued to ask if I needed to stop or sit up and rinse. I will only be seeing Sarah from now on. The check out process was a breeze, with the help of Leah explaining the billing process to me without any hesitation or judgement. Leah ensured that I understood the billing agreement that I entered into and answered all my questions thoroughly. Will definitely be continuing all my dental care at Northborough Dental Associates!

Fantastic experience: Northboro dental always manages to accommodate their patients, which is why I have been going there for years.

Negative experience: This place has gone down hill. Dr Howells would always check you out after your check up. Not no more sat in the chair for 20 minutes only to find out no one was coming to final check so now I need to come back a couple day’s later so the dentist can look at my teeth knowing I needed attention on a tooth I came back. At that point I made 2 more appointments 1 for measurement and 1 for crown installation. Got there yesterday at 5 PM sitting there at 5,25 Pm in the waiting room going really walk out of never going back there again if they cannot handle the work load then don’t schedule it

Fantastic experience: Need to update my previous comment. Dr Crowley is still an excellent Dentist and professional but no longer with the practice. I haven't had another dentist provide treatment to me yet but will update my comments once that happens My recent experience was with Beata, a hygienist. She is professional, friendly and thorough. I have no need to change the five star rating at this time.

Fantastic experience: My previous dentist of about 20 years was very good but very expensive, a little far to drive, and sometimes pushed procedures which were probably not yet necessary. When he retired, and the new guy he brought in told me I needed a crown replaced at a 11% increase from the similar crown I got the year before, I did some research and started seeing Northborough Dental Associates about two years ago. Very happy I did .... the staff and Dr. Donahue are great. That "bad" crown is still just fine. They just cleaned up and re-cemented an old gold crown that had come off while I was away in Maine for two weeks (I put it back on temporarily with dental cement from CVS) .... and they did not try to sell me a new crown or unnecessary repair work on the post.

Fantastic experience: I can’t say enough about Northboro Dental. My old hygienist retired but I still received Fantastic service, always takes the time to listen to any concerns or questions I have and is very detailed with their exams. Couldn’t be more pleased.

Negative experience: SCAM Dental Office. Local resident with small chip in front tooth. It needs a simple bond! My regular dentist is away for 2 weeks and I wanted to fix now. This office says I need a full exam first for $169, they wanted to take full xrays, and then I can make an appointment to come back to have the chip corrected. No need for full xrays for a small chip in my tooth. All the reviews are based upon the previous dentists/owners that are no longer there. New Owners obviously don't know how to grow a new business! I was looking for a closer dentist, I'll try some of the others in the neighborhood.

Recently I went to my cleaning appointment and found out that Dr. Crowley has left the practice. I met Sarah and Dr. Donohue for the first time. Sarah was super friendly, courteous, knowledgeable. I felt really at ease immediately upon meeting her. Dr. Donahue was friendly and explained everything in detail. I would highly recommend Northboro Dental Associates!!

Negative experience: I was not happy with my appointment on January 4th. I thought I was going to have a 6 monthly dental cleaning. When I arrived, I had a different hygienist and she took some X rays. After looking at them the dentist said I would need a deeper cleaning under anaesthetic. I would also need a root canal, crowns and leaky fillings replaced. The hygienist asked if I would like to make my next appointment. I asked for an estimate first, and this was for a total of over $6000! I was shocked by the huge amount. There were no discounts for seniors or for people paying their bill immediately like there were a few years ago. This is not fair for a retiree without insurance. Prices keep on going up. I wasn't given any cleaning during my appointment and was very disappointed. I will look elsewhere for my dental care.

Positive experience: Love the doctors and staff. Waited 1/2 hour for 10am appointment- seems way to long to get that far behind. Needed to come back for loose stitch and waited another 1/2 hour for that appointment made only an hour before it started!
