Their location next to downtown Lees Summit is convenient and the staff is very welcoming. I was impressed with how they explained procedures and cost. I have already told my close friends about how professional they have treated me. If you are new to the Lees Summit area or ready to change dentists I recommend giving them and call.

Fantastic experience: Im a nurse and even I get white coat syndrome. That being said everyone at this clinic, from the receptionists, hygienists and even the dentist went above and beyond in their care! They were unbelievably thorough, professional and friendly. The dentist was very personable and kind and did an excellent job teaching and explaining what was going on and how he came to his diagnoses. (Something that is very valuable.) My wife and I found this practice kind of on accident but will absolutely continue to use them!

Negative experience: I was a brand new patient and came in for what I thought would be a routine exam. They took images and had someone come in to perform what they called a “full deep clean check.” I was then told I had three cavities, needed an expensive deep cleaning under the gums due to gingivitis, and supposedly had an infection. The treatment plan and bill were absolutely outrageous. To be safe, I went to two other dentists for second opinions—both told me the same thing: none of that was true and this office was trying to scam me. I’m extremely disappointed and want others to be aware. Please be cautious before agreeing to anything here.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Dawdy extracted a wisdom tooth for me and did an awesome job. He took his time and removed my tooth as gently as possible. That resulted in quick healing and very little pain

Negative experience: I gave 2 stars bc the last that assisted me was very nice. I asked when I called to get my crown cemented. When I got there I needed a new patient appointment with an exam and X-rays. I was told one thing and it was another when I got there. Waste of my time.

Negative experience: EDITED! I absolutely adore every single person in this office minus the passive aggressive office manager, Michelle, who after I informed her I was leaving the practice (reasons below) just “happened” to fire the one person (Jackie) who I mentioned was absolutely stellar at her job. Seems like a risky move given her age and the fact her patients love her. She would have been the only reason to continue with the practice. I had never had an issue with Dr. Waugh, absolutely adored him, and then the new dentist showed up. He has questioned and contradicted quite literally everything Dr. Waugh said or diagnosed just 6 months ago for both myself and my son. Incredibly unprofessional and makes himself look awful doing it. But given I have zero faith in the new dentist, appointments cancelled and we will be searching for another practice.

Fantastic experience: Everyone was so kind and respectful from the moment I walked in all the way until I left. I was never left a lone for too long and a nurse or doctor alway checked on me, even gave me a warm blanket when I was cold☺️ I would definitely recommend this place to anyone without a doubt and can’t wait to come back for my next cleaning!

Negative experience: I rarely leave reviews and understand that businesses aren’t always on their A game every day. This is different. The Dental assistant is awful, lacks compassion, didn’t have a professional appearance and had no ability to adjust her technique based on circumstances. There are plenty of great dentists in the area. Don’t go to this one if you want a professional experience. I now know how they can get you on the schedule so quickly. It’s because they have probably treated other customers like this. If you do happen to go there and the assistant is an unkempt red head, I’d leave quickly.

Fantastic experience: Updated review: I am INCREDIBLY happy having seen Dr. Dawdy. It's a whole different experience having an honest, caring professional to interact with! He assessed my implant complications and was SO amazingly transparent about what he could do as well as encouraged me to continue my care with a periodontist for deeper treatment. I wish so very much I could have had his care from day one. Thank you immensely, Dr. Dawdy! Hands down the best dental experience I've ever had. He absolutely earned the other three starts I'm adding to my rating. Old review: I adore the staff there, but since it's been taken over, it's frustratingly corporatised. Dr. Akram is rarely there and if it's an emergency I'll have to drive all the way to Leavenworth to his other office (which is ran by an automated answering system that is beyond infuriating). It took him several days, 5 I believe, of calling as well as asking if I needed to physically come to the office to get my antibiotic prescription promised after a tooth extraction...a process I wasn't even close to fully numbed up for and was very painful. The gaslighting this man does will put any of your exes to shame. Again, the staff is beyond amazing and I appreciate everything they've done for me. It's just a shame to see how it's run, which is something those wonderful employees have no control over.

Positive experience: I have been here multiple times to have a crown, bridge work, and partials done. They have for the most part been excellent. Friendly, courteous, and explained everything that was going to happen. They make you feel real comfortable. I only had 1 problem which is why the 4 stars not five. I took off work for my appointment at 1pm at 230 I had to leave to pick up my kiddos. Had to make another appointment and miss work. That was only 1 time out if 6 or 7. All others were no greater than 15 min wait times. I know things happen, that is why I would definitely recommend East Ridge Family Dentists.

Fantastic experience: I called at 8 with a tooth a tooth that broke in half. They got me in at 9 and out by 10. They were so nice and friendly. Especially for me who has extreme dentist anxiety. I won't go anywhere else!

Fantastic experience: I saw Dr Waugh on 5/27/25. It was busy in there but he mentioned they were short one staff member so things were pretty hectic. Despite that they all worked hard to make sure I was seen in a timely manner. Dr. Waugh was pleasant and efficient as always. Dental hygienist was very good as well. Overall a good visit.

Positive experience: Everyone was very nice and helpful. However, they were very busy and seemed to be shorthanded. My appointment was for 10:30. But I didn't get seated until 10:50. After x-rays, periodontal measurements and cleaning, flossing and polishing, and a visit with the dentist, I finally left a little after noon. I will say the service was excellent. I will be back

Fantastic experience: On the recommendation of a friend, I went to Eastridge after about 5 years without going to the dentist. I needed a lot of work done, and everyone at Eastridge has been amazing to work with! They really care about patient comfort, and through the entire process over the last year of getting my dental health back in order, I have felt very well taken care of. Dr. Waugh, Dr. Akon, their assistants, the hygienist, and the office staff are kind, helpful, and made sure to thoroughly educate me about my options and how to care for my teeth. My case was pretty complex, and it was not always fun, but the staff at Eastridge made everything as easy as possible for me. And now, I have a clean bill of dental health thanks to them! See you all in six months!

They cleaned my child’s teeth for 2 minutes and then took X-rays and then decided after the appointment to tell me they don’t see children that need dental work. I waited for an hour in their lobby and they said nothing. Communication sucks too the front desk girl knows nothing either.

He and Jackie, his assistant, were awesome at keeping me informed of what was happening and what to expect. He did a great job in blending all the work so that one couldn’t actually tell what was done. I highly recommend him and his entire friendly staff, who couldn’t be more helpful.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Ristow is an amazing dentist. This office is very welcoming and everyone makes a point in talking to you. The dental hygienist do a great job cleaning your teeth. My insurance stopped paying for a pediatric dentist so, I switched my children over to my dentist. Dr. Ristow and the dental hygienist both did a good job working with my kids.

Negative experience: Confusing and awkward appointment today. I booked for a consultation about an issue, but upon arrival was pushed and pushed, even with 4 different sets of imaging i was told would be free, to have a full exam and cleaning. I was clear at the scheduling, onset of appointment, with confirmation from the scheduler, then 3 times during the appointment, and finally when I said I had to leave soon as this had exceeded the time I had available and I still had not had the issue I booked the appointment for addressed. I was informed that I needed to complete the requirements for a full exam as that's what I was booked for. Since I had just completed a full exam elsewhere 3 weeks prior, and absolutely could have those records transferred as needed, I communicated this again, the same as I had stated on the phone and at arrival. If for some reason the consult had been impossible without that transfer, communication as to that would have been welcomed by myself, as well as reasonable and professional. Agreement finally came to have me see the dentist. Even then, the dentist seemed to be selecting his words carefully, awkward about the appointment, did not address my questions fully, and was not committed to addressing my reason for visit or discussion. Totally confused as to how this was ever vague, off the mark, or complicated, I have no idea as to whether I should ever return. As staff did not follow any of the discussed or written requests, I cannot imagine this is the right place to bring my daughter who has special needs. As the receptionist clearly miscommunicated with me about the consult and options or limitations for the appointment, I have trepidation about the intentions or clarity of service. Thoroughly confused and feeling like my time was wasted unnecessarily. Truly would love to understand! I'm sure there must be some good business going on there. Wishing I could have seen that side.

What stands out the most with me is how friendly & caring the staff are while maintaining a very professional approach to dentistry.
