Fantastic experience: I had a root canal done with Dr. Farshey Yesterday. They warned me that I might have some discomfort, but amazingly I never did. I was able to go out the next day and ride 25 miles on my bicycle. The idea of having a root canal is usually the punchline of a joke, but I must say that he and his office staff made it an amazing experience. I hope I do not need another one, but if I do, I would hope that it would be just like this one

Fantastic experience: Over the 4th of July holiday weekend, away at the beach, a tooth I’d chipped some months ago suddenly started to hurt with a sensitivity that seemed to increase by the hour. Back in DC our marvelous family dentist (Dr. Ronan Freyne) agreed to see me straight away, diagnosing that that tooth needed a root canal and a crown. He suggested Dr. Farshey for the root canal effort. Speed was an important factor lest the situation deteriorate from bad to worse. With lightening speed the two offices coordinated my care and so I was able to walk from Dr. Freyne’s immediately to Dr. Farshey’s where they were waiting for me. Warm personalities working with cool efficiency, Dr. Farshey and his incredible staff addressed every concern and question of mine. After looking to my comfort, Dr. Farshey began the quickest root canal I’ve yet undergone. An hour after walking through his door I was walking out again, minus all pain and expertly prepped to begin crown work. Dr. Farshey also observed to me the possibility of problems I’d likely have with the same tooth on the other side, similarly fractured and with the nerve beginning to visibly show. Without complication or bother, I thus had a second root canal procedure yesterday morning as Dr. Forshay’s first patient of the day and week. Again the model of cool efficiency, I’m grateful for another problem quickly nipped in the bud. I recommend Dr. Farshey in the highest possible terms and with 6 decades of other dental work for comparison’s sake.

Fantastic experience: This clinic has incredible customer service from the smiles greeting you as you walk (nervously of course) through the front door, to the willingness of all staff up to Dr Farshey, to the speed and incredible competence of Dr Farshey (I could not even feel him injecting the anaesthetic). I could not recommend more highly.

I am not an easy patient with TMJ issues which keep me from being able to keep my mouth open wide for an extended period of time. Fantastic experience: I was unfortunate in needing some root canal operations. I was fortunate in having Dr. Farshey deal with them. Fantastic experience: A very pain free and pleasant experience for a traditionally dreaded procedure. I also feel no pain today and am only taking the ibuprofen Mete sent me home with because she said I should in order to manage any swelling. Also Dr. Farshey perfectly numbed the tooth. I felt no pain but I didn’t have numbness all day and drank from a glass very soon after my root canal. I would send my best friends and loved ones to Dr. Farshey and Mete.

Incredibly gracious and extended the visit to discuss my situation and what showed up on the 3D to insure I was okay. The entire staff is welcoming and professional and does everything they can to lower anxiety and pain. Fantastic experience: Although I would like to, I doubt that I can add much to the uniformly excellent reviews that Dr. Zia richly deserves in this posting. I am an actor in DC and, as fate would have it, I had an awful toothache one Recent Friday morning. That is never any fun, but I had to be on stage for a local performance that evening. My dentist took me in that day but quickly assessed that I needed a root canal. We’re now early afternoon . He called Dr.Zia who, unhesitatingly took me in! Despite working against the clock (mine and his!) he was the very picture of calm, competence …AND kindness. He understood my unique situation and worked with uncommon efficiency. I was done by mid-afternoon, able to talk and ready to knock ‘‘em dead! The show went on, but only because of Dr. Zia’s uncommon commitment to help his patient in any way he could. Fantastic experience: Root canals are not the best, but this experience was! Dr. Farshey explained the whole procedure and made sure I was comfortable with all the information (local vs general anesthetic, the pre- and post-op process, etc.). The rest of the staff are great and very friendly and conscientious. The noise cancelling headphones with classical music being piped in during the procedure was a plus, for sure. Very minor soreness that evening and now virtually none the day after.

Fantastic experience: Root canals are often so miserable that the term = misery. But Dr Zia and his team are so skilled and empathetic that getting a root canal is no more miserable than getting your teeth cleaned. First rate.

Fantastic experience: Patient Review, Part 1 of 2: If you need or are seeking the very best of the best for endodontic care, I highly recommend Dr. Reza Farshey and his team at Chevy Chase Endodontists. Dr. Farshey is not only brilliant in his field, but his bedside manner is absolutely unparalleled in how he cares for and communicates with his patients. Dr. Farshey took the time to explain all the endodontic options available and possible, their pros and cons, and their costs so that I could make the most informed decisions possible. Dr. Farshey took the time to not only answer, but also discuss each and every of my questions — even when I had three pages of them, with size 10 font and single spaced lines!! He sat beside me, read each question, and patiently discussed each one with me as if I were his colleague. Dr. Farshey so thoroughly impressed me with the quality and clarity of his explanations and answers. I felt like I was learning something valuable and new on each dialogue with him. I have not encountered another physician or medical professional with such skill in communicating with patients in more than a half century. Yes, he is that good. I was referred to Dr. Farshey by my dentist for a medical emergency. I had cracked a molar and it had become severely infected within a couple days. The infection spread across my lower jaw and began threatening my other teeth. I was in great pain. Dr. Farshey made an exception to his extremely busy schedule to see me with less than 24 hour notice as a new patient. Seriously, try that with ANY other physician or medical professional and see what happens. Without his immediate intervention, and with an entire summer weekend ahead with all other doctors away on vacation or with closed offices, the infection would surely have become sepsis and would have killed me. Dr. Farshey has an incredibly, high resolution, 3D X-ray technology in his office that is like a mini-MRI. It can see and find the smallest, hairline fissures and cracks in one’s teeth that absolutely cannot be detected or visualized by most other dental X-rays. Dr. Farshey not only found the crack in my molar, but was able to visualize it along multiple axes to understand exactly and how it had propagated throughout my tooth. Dr. Farshey uses the most advanced technology available that is proven. As he performed the root canal procedures on my tooth, it was amazing to see the triple monitors display precise calculations of the dimensions of my tooth as well as those for the chambers and canals inside my tooth. The artificial intelligence engine outlined various paths through my tooth, as well as the tool sizes. It also showed the progress made compared to the actions planned via 3D images of the teeth. Dr. Farshey used lasers to precisely clean and disinfect the interior chambers of my teeth, and remove necrotic pulp without removing or damaging any of the tooth itself. This helps maintain maximum integrity and strength of the tooth. Plus, there is no bacteria or pathogen in the world that is going to be able to resist and survive the intense, focussed, photonic energy from a laser! My root canal procedure, performed by Dr. Farshey, was one of the coolest “rides” I have ever experienced. I actually found it to be fun in a very cognitively stimulating way — which is something no one ever says about a root canal procedure (until now)! Dr. Farshey is an immaculate pro at administering the local anesthetic. He numbed exactly the area that needed to be free from pain, and was able to leave feeling in all other areas which provided very comforting sensory context to me. He has an 8-point diagnostic with your feedback to precisely and accurately confirm what what needs to be completely numb, is indeed so. I was so relaxed during both parts of the root canal procedure that I nearly fell asleep — and that’s without any anti-anxiety meds! Fantastic experience: I am repeatedly in awe of the phenomenal skill, transparency, and genuine caring of Dr. Zia and his team. Preserving bone due to an infection unfelt b/c it was in a previous root canal spot, and then preserving the cracked tooth under a crown (due to grinding my teeth at night) was so appreciated ( it prevented the need for an implant), and was nothing short of brilliant. Fantastic experience: Dr. Pirooz Zia (and that wonderful Sima with him!) are remarkable professionals and angels in my book, who took care of a challenging tooth, and a scared to death patient. I expected professionalism but all the things they do to calm frayed nerves made them total champions in my book! Need a root canal? Go here with them!!! I think I even fell asleep!

Dr. Zia was able to substantially reduce my stubborn gag reflex during the procedure. Positive experience: I felt there could have been more time showing me the expensive 3D scan that was done before root canal therapy. I thought it was a very short explanation, and didn’t understand why it seemed required that I make a separate trip out there if I wanted to learn more about it and the benefits. Not aware of any issues with the root canal therapy with Dr. Farshey—seems to have held up well for years now.

Fantastic experience: I had a root canal done and what anticipation anxiety about it because this was a first time experience with this type of work. However, after meeting dr. Farshey and Claudia, most of the fear disappeared. They are professional and kind, went over the imaging findings and explained to me what to expect. For comfort, they suggested an anxiolytic and I got a prescription for it, as well as for an antibiotic to take care of the local infection. The procedure itself went well under local anesthesia (as much as needed) and during the procedure, you can enjoy watching beautiful landscapes on a screen located above you. After the procedure, dr. Farshey and Claudia summarized the findings and discussed a follow-up plan. These people are wonderful, passionate about their work and very humane. You feel taken care of in all aspects. I highly recommend them if you need endodontal work. The ladies at the reception desk are also great, welcoming and helpful. No more fears and overall, a great experience!

Fantastic experience: The team at Chevy Chase Endodontics was fantastic. After I was referred to them by my regular dentist, they took care of me with exceptional expertise, technical skills, and compassion, taking care of two complex issues for me. Like most, I was nervous, but from the get go, the team made me feel comfortable and made it a priority to ensure I was as relaxed as possible throughout the procedures. Their use of the latest technology is impressive, with computer targeted novacaine to minimize pain, and microscopes and specialized cleaning equipment to ensure the most successful procedures. Dr. Zia's technical expertise and competence quickly built trust. He thoroughly reviewed the pros and cons before the procedures, enabling me to make well informed decisions and making me part of the decision process. His assistant and Patient Care Coordinator, Sima, was equally expert and had a knack at keeping me calm throughout the procedures. Their seamless collaboration throughout the procedures was impressive. They don't work with insurance, so you will have to file your own insurance claim though. But Jennifer in the front office made sure I had all the paperwork and went above and beyond to gather a few additional materials my insurance provider needed. In short, I highly recommend the team at Chevy Chase Endodontics if you have to address complex dental issues.
