Fantastic experience: Dr. Benitez and her team are wonderful, so efficient and kind. My daughters always have a great experience getting their cleanings done here.

Fantastic experience: Started going here recently a very good dentist for younger children. Run by kind dentist. Nice view of purple line construction.

Positive experience: We’ve been coming to the practice for years! My boys look forward to their visits. All the staff is wonderful with kids. Especially Karla and Nikki who helped us today. They were super patient and gentle while guiding my boys through cleanings and X-rays.

Negative experience: Dr. Karen herself is lovely, but the practice doesn't seem to be well run. At two separate appointments now, patients with later appointment times were taken by and seen before us. We were perfectly on time to both appointments, so it wasn't as if they were just fitting us in. The first time around, we were left waiting in the waiting room for forty-five minutes. I think they just completely skipped over our appointment, as multiple families who arrived half an hour after us were taken back first. I had to ask multiple times what was going on with no explanation. At our appointment today, a family with an appointment half an hour after us was seen before us. When I mentioned this as they were going back, the woman who calls families back rudely stated that our room would be ready shortly. No apology or further explanation. When it became apparent that that same individual sent the doctor to see that family first, I asked what was going on. I was told that Dr. Karen likes to see the younger children first. I understand that, but at this point, it was forty minutes past our appointment time and only ten minutes past the other family's appointment. My child is also only three. When I asked again why someone with a much later appointment was seen first, this same staff member wouldn't say anything other than rudely stating, "she'll be with you shortly." She was incredibly unpleasant, and frankly I suspect it was because she was the source of the incorrect appointment order. It's unfortunate that such a sweet practice is brought down by one staff member, as everyone else was lovely. I can't recommend a practice, though, where my kids are left waiting for forty-five minutes each time with no apology or explanation.

Negative experience: This is the second time I bring my 20m old here, and I’ve had the same issue as the first visit. First time it took 1h 40 min for doctor Karen to see us, I was told that this type of delay was unusual for the clinic when I questioned why it was taking so long. We were at the waiting room for 1h10 min and we had to wait another 30 min in the baby room area. The visit was extremely rushed, she didn’t stay even 10 min with us. This time same thing happened, we waited awhile in the waiting room then were moved to the baby area where we waited another 30+ min. What irritated me this time is that Dr Karen was taking care of 4 kids at once, and I feel like if you’re going to schedule these many visits at once, even if they are siblings do not schedule such delicate procedure, tongue tie, for the same time. She didn’t even know it was for his tongue at first, she asked if it was a lip tie because the system was not working properly. Can you imagine how I felt knowing the doctor didn’t even know what she was supposed to do?? Then she remembered him, she did the numbing cream and left the room. She was literally talking to the kids, hugging them, talking about them moving and going to a doctor she referred them to, in front of the baby room area, while my son was fussy and with his bottom part of the tongue numb. She was talking with the family for a long time mind you it was not related to their visit. I was there and could hear all.. my son got upset and while trying to leave the room he slammed his hands on the door (we were there for 50 min, when I saw that she went back to the the chair, and she was talking to the mom again, arms crossed I was like no I’m really sorry this is extremely unprofessional! My child is 20m! He’s still a baby! How can you leave a 20m waiting for 1 1/2h, then 1h?? I was like by the time she gets here this cream will have lost its effect. I walked to the front desk and told them I was not going to wait anymore. My voice was trembling of how anxious this whole situation made me feel. Almost 700 bucks to not be taken care properly. The front desk is wonderful and it’s not their fault for the lack of professionalism on Dr Karen’s part. I won’t get charged cuz I didn’t do the procedure. I had also to pay for parking cuz they only do free parking for 1h after that you have to pay 5 dollars. This has been the worst experience I’ve ever had taking my son to a dr. It’s disrespectful to ppl who work, have other things to do, and inhumane to leave a kid this young waiting for hours to get treated while the dr is chatting about life events with parents. I’m extremely disappointed. My son was exhausted.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Karen makes going to the dentist super fun! The kids left and said they felt like they attended a dentist themed birthday party. She's thorough, friendly and attentive. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: We love to go to Doctor Benitez practice the staff is very attentive and the place is simple beautifully decorated. We have been coming to her practice for many years. She is very attentive to detail and cordial.

Negative experience: This was our fourth visit to Chevy Chase Pediatric Dentistry, and I had to express my disappointment with our most recent appointment. While the practice has been adequate in the past, this visit raised some concerns about the quality of care. We waited 25 minutes past our appointment time, only to have the cleaning and check-up completed in approximately 10 minutes—a timeframe that seems insufficient for a thorough examination. For a pediatric visit, I would expect more time dedicated to careful assessment, especially at the price point of $250. The rushed nature of the appointment felt hurried, and I'm not confident that the level of attention my son needed was provided. Additionally, the delay caused us to miss his scheduled sports class, which disrupted his day. While the staff and office are pleasant, I believe quality dental care cannot be rushed. I would recommend this practice reconsider their scheduling to allow adequate time for each patient and to respect families' time.

Positive experience: Second time and mixed experience. First time was very attentive and on point. This second time very rushed visit and unclear/ inconclusive feedback from doctor.

The staff is warm and engaging, and the waiting room has lots of books and toys to keep the kids occupied while they wait. The in-chair experience is incredible! Fantastic experience: So perfect for children! My son loves to go to the dentist because of everything they offer to your child to be busy playing and distracted from whatever they have to do in your child mouth! He doesn’t want to go to any other dentist but this one! The ONLY annoying thing is paying parking after 1hr.. and they always delay at least 20/30min before your actual appointment time. Kind of annoying, but my son loves it there, so….. ‍♀️

They are always able to fit us last minute if an issue arises. The cheerful office and staff help kids feel comfortable! The games and toys in the waiting room are a great touch as well.

Negative experience: We’ve been going to Dr. Benitez for a couple of years and it has been fine. I find the office really overwhelming (the radio is always LOUD + tv on + dentist office sounds) but they’ve taken good care of my kids’ teeth. My son is super anxious about the dentist and he has finally gotten used to this office, so I wanted to continue to use Dr. Benitez. However, we had a really disappointing and frustrating experience today. I brought my son in for an extraction with oral sedation. The office had already rescheduled this appointment twice, which I understand—the oral sedation requires extra monitoring/time/hands. I received multiple texts and a voicemail confirming a 9:30 AM appointment. I responded to confirm the appointment, and thought all was well. Arrived at the office at 9:30, and proceeded to wait. At 10:10 I was called up to the desk and was told that my son’s appointment was at 9, and we showed up at 9:30 so they wouldn’t be able to see us today. I showed them my phone with the multiple text messages saying the appointment was for 9:30, and the person at the desk said she would talk to the dentist. They decided they would see my son today, but I don’t think anyone was happy about it. I think the procedure went well, and I’m sure my son will heal fine. But after pulling the tooth, Dr. Benitez just left the room without giving me any information about aftercare or the opportunity to ask questions. An assistant escorted us down to the parking garage since my son was sedated. After leaving I realized we hadn’t received any aftercare instructions, my son hadn’t been offered a prize, and we hadn’t been given an opportunity to schedule his next appointment. I know I should have realized this and asked before we left the office, but I have dental anxiety myself and was feeling flustered and rushed and wanted to get home. I called at 1 pm, and left a voicemail asking if I should have received aftercare instructions, and, if so, could they be emailed to me. It’s 9 PM and have yet to receive an email or return call. I don’t ever write reviews, but the office has so many QR codes to scan to leave a google review, and I received a text with a link to review immediately after leaving the office. Two stars because they did ultimately see and treat my son, and I’m sure Dr. Benitez did a good job with the work he needed done.

Fantastic experience: We love Dr. Karen and Chevy chase pediatrics! The office is so bright and cheerful and they have so many fun things (like tv’s on the ceilings that the kids can watch while getting treatment!) and fun sunglasses and Dr. Karen herself wears a goofy face mask sometimes that has lips drawn on it, that they actually LOOK FORWARD to going to the dentist. Imagine that! The office is professional and efficiently run, and I’m always able to get my kids’ dental forms for school and for camp on a timely basis. Our kids LOVE Chevy Chase Pediatric Dentistry, and they make it easy to go, take care of our kids well, and Dr. Karen is just awesome. They take dental insurance too! So happy to have found this practice and bonus, to be able to support a woman-owned business!

Fantastic experience: Such a beautiful and inviting space and lovely staff! This was my first trip to the dentist with my little one (she’s 2.5 years). I had been putting it off because she’s shy and has difficulty and fear at the pediatrician’s and so I was admittedly dreading the first visit to the dentist. The office made it so comfortable for us — they were easy to schedule with, and kind and inviting upon our arrival. The space is beautiful and filled with fun things for kids. The dentist was fast and efficient, moving quickly as she saw my daughter was nervous and fidgety. Our little one did great and was so excited to tell me all about the experience on our car ride home. Would highly recommend the practice to anyone who needs a little TLC for their little ones (and themselves ) for the early years of dental care!

Negative experience: This was a bad experience for my family. I’m fairly caretaking Dr Karen was having a hard day which is fine everyone does but how she handled it was extremely unprofessional. We had scheduled an emergency treatment for a filling of a cavity. Because she had a hard morning with other patients who seemed to be difficult to managed she was running late, didn’t greet me or my kids, looked over x-rays quickly and decided that she wasn’t going to do the scheduled treatment plan because she allowed he bad day to dictate her professionalism. We drive 45 mins to her, but her energy was so off and alarming, it was palpable in the office she was in a bad mood. She left us in a between a rock and hard place bc she was frustrated and overwhelmed. We were left to find another dentist office that would do the filling before we leave in 3 days out of the country. Unfortunately we will not be going back to her. Beware she may or may not do what is scheduled depending on her mood. Very unreliable

Fantastic experience: Fantastic experience. First dentist apt for my 21 month old. Dr Karen Benitez was so kind and friendly. She answered all of my questions and showed me how to safel brush my toddlers teeth. The office was any kids dream, decked out with toys, books, and distractions. We were in and out in a timely fashion and the staff were so helpful and sweet.

Negative experience: Really frustrating experience. We waited so long for this appointment and rearranged our whole day. As a teen, I skipped school, and my mom took off work. We even called ahead, but when we got there a bit late, they just turned us away. It wasted our time for nothing. Honestly, if people can’t help you out with a small issue, they can’t be good caregivers or reliable in a bigger problem either. So in short, we just wouldn’t trust them to be helpful in the future. I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone.

Negative experience: Very disappointed. My wife waited an entire week for this appointment and rearranged our whole day around it. She left work, the kids missed school, and we even called ahead to let them know we might be a little late. Despite all that, when we arrived, they just turned us away with no empathy at all. We wasted hours of our time, money, and the kids’ school day for absolutely nothing. The clinic might look fine, but the staff is completely uncaring. We definitely don’t recommend anyone go there.

Negative experience: ⭐☆☆☆☆ Extremely disappointing experience! We waited a whole week for this appointment and planned our entire day around it. I left work early and my kids missed school just to make it on time. I even called ahead to let them know we might be a little late. After all that, when we arrived, they refused to take us. No understanding, no care, no humanity. Totally wasted over 4 hours, money, gas, and my kids’ school time for a simple “we can’t accept you.” Maybe the clinic looks nice, but the staff is cold, unprofessional, and completely lacking compassion. Not a human way to treat people!

Negative experience: Dentist performed a filling on my son under nitrous oxide (laughing gas). At the same time, the dentist was also treating another patients in parallel. Concerns: Patient Safety Risk Nitrous oxide requires close monitoring for breathing, comfort, and sedation response. Dentist could not give full attention while working on more than one child. Quality of Care Fillings require precision and accuracy. Splitting focus between patients increases risk of mistakes. Ethical/Professional Standards Children deserve individualized care during sedation. This practice shows disregard for proper supervision and patient well-being. Potential Consequences: Increased risk of complications during sedation. Possible incomplete or incorrect dental treatment. Negative dental experience for my child, leading to future anxiety or fear of dental visits.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Karen and team care about making kids comfortable with dental procedures. My child actually looks forward to teeth cleanings and appointments -- and she is learning all about how best to care for her teeth.

The intense focus on a safe, reassuring, focused, and professional service surpasses my expectations every visit, for both of my kids (ages 2 and 6). The design of the waiting room, the comforting activities for nervous kids, and especially the kind and reassuring staff all lead to an easy and assured visit for our family every appointment.

Negative experience: Disappointed. I am very disappointed with my experience. Despite clearly indicating that I did not consent to the application of fluoride, it was applied to my infant's teeth. I believe it is a patient's right to be informed about treatment and procedures beforehand, to ask questions, raise concerns, and accept or refuse them. I brought my infant to her first dentist appointment and explicitly stated that I did not want fluoride applied while she is less than one year old. However, they instructed us to place the baby on our laps, open her mouth, and then they started brushing her teeth with fluoride. They attempted to remove it with gauze and tried to place the blame on us. I will not return to a place where treatments are not consulted, consent is not sought, or bypassed.

Fantastic experience: I have been bringing my children to Dr. Benitez for the past 3 years and we have been very happy with her. One of my children has extremely sensitive teeth which makes her extra uptight at the dentist and Dr. Benitez goes out of her way to make her feel comfortable and calm. I highly recommend Dr. Benitez.. She is lovely, personable and extremely knowledgeable. She has an incredible “bedside manner.”

Fantastic experience: We've been very pleased with Karen and her team at Chevy Chase Pediatric Dentistry since switching over there a year or two ago. It is a very welcoming and fun environment for our 10 year old daughter and 5 year old son. They are always extra excited for the tablets in the waiting area with fun games on them and choosing a toy after their cleanings as a "prize". We're pretty sure they are counting down the days until their next visit!

Fantastic experience: We Love Dr. Benitez! We started going to Chevy Chase Pediatric Dentistry when my son was 2 months old. He was born with a tooth but it wasn't doing well and we had to have it removed. He also had a severe lip and tongue tie that needed to be released. She did a great job with everything. The office is so fun and completely catered to kids. My daughter who was 3 at the time loved going to her brother's appointments just so she could play with all the toys! We ended up signing my daughter up too and she also had a tongue/lip tie release. Dr. Benitez caught her speech impediment early and recommended a speech therapist that we are still using now, 2 years later. I could go on forever raving about the office and all the staff, so kind, friendly and accommodating! Even with extra diapers, nice changing table and a place to nurse your baby with blankets and a rocking chair! They truly do think of everything you will need. Thank you Dr. Benitez!

Fantastic experience: We are blown away by the experience of Chevy Chase Pediatric Dentistry. Dr Karen, JuJu and Natalie are world class. Our daughter is 3 and we relocated from Chicago and needed a new dentist. We saw the great reviews for CCPD so gave it a try. They exceeded even our highest expectations. Making the appointment online was so easy which is so helpful for working parents. It was also very easy to verify our insurance was accepted. Natalie was very helpful in advance of the appointment in helping us confirm the time and also so gracious when we called to say we were running a few min late due to traffic. The office experience itself was so delightful. They have been so thoughtful about the overall experience for parents and kids. There are books and toys and beautiful art and furniture and pillows adorning the office that there was so much for our daughter to get interested in. Our daughter is generally very nervous and apprehensive seeing the dentist and they treated her with such care and warmth that it went better than we have ever experienced elsewhere. We are so grateful to JuJu and Dr Karen for the lovely visit and creating such a great experience that our daughter is already talking about when she gets to visit next. Truly next level care. Taking two kids to the dentist solo is usually a pretty stressful mission but the team and environment make it totally manageable and even enjoyable! The staff is fantastic with children and my kids are excited to come here and see Dr. Karen! You can tell they care about the patients by the way they speak to me and all of the children in there. Highly recommend! Wish they had dentist offices like this when I was a kid.

Fantastic experience: Outstanding Pediatric Dentist – A True Lifesaver! Dr. Benítez is an exceptional pediatric dentist who truly goes above and beyond for her patients. We recently found ourselves in a difficult situation while in Aberdeen for a baseball tournament. Our 11-year-old son lost a tooth after a collision with another player’s helmet. There were no dental offices open nearby on a Saturday and we were 4 hrs away from our home in NY. Thankfully, someone shared Dr. Benítez’s personal contact with us. Despite her office being closed, she responded quickly after we sent her photos of our son’s broken tooth. Without hesitation, in her day off she opened her office just to treat him. We drove an hour to get there, and she not only welcomed us warmly but also skillfully treated and repaired his tooth. My son was very happy to see his tooth repaired. Dr. Benítez’s dedication, compassion, and genuine care for her patients are truly admirable. In a moment of panic and stress, she was our angel. We are deeply grateful for the way she took care of our son during such a difficult time. Thank you, Dr. Benítez!
