Fantastic experience: The Dentists and staff at Awesome are extremely competent, professional and welcoming.

Negative experience: Tontra lied to me about my dental health in an attempt to charge me more. I go to the dentist regularly and just needed a new dentist in the area. Was a new patient with her and she told me that I have gum disease, needed braces, and have sleep apnea. All of which is completely false. She refused to listen to me and proceeded to try to gaslight me. Visited there once and then never again. SCAMMER!

Fantastic experience: I went to the Dentist for the first time in years yesterday and it was an amazing experience! All of the staff were soo kind, nice, patient, explained everything so I clearly understood everything if I could I would have gave it a 100/10. As someone who suffers with Anxiety and ADHD, it is a nerve racking experience. However from the moment I walked in the door I cannot explain how amazing the staff was and how comfortable they made me feel, so much so that my next appointment I am really not feeling anxious much at all about. Staff if you see this, thank you for this experience and thank you for being a safe place for families to go to take care of something so important for our health!

However, my experience at Awesome Smiles Dental Center has been absolutely wonderful! The front desk staff, dental hygienist, and dentist were all so kinds and put me completely at ease. I even had a cavity that needed a filling - something I haven’t had in years - and they took care of it without a hitch. That alone says so much about their gentle approach. If you are looking for a fantastic dental practice in Gainesville, Virginia, I highly recommend them.

Fantastic experience: I really want to thank this office tremendously. I had an emergency situation where my Maryland bridge detached from a whitening strip. I gave them a call this morning and they managed to fit me in their schedule right away. When I arrived to the office I was greeted by friendly staff and even offered a water. Everyone who I interacted with was very friendly and professional. I got my bridge cemented back into place and at the end of my appointment they gave me some extra temporary cement in case I was ever in that situation again. All and all I was very impressed for my first time visit and would absolutely recommend this office to anyone looking to get dental work in the Gainesville area. From the moment you walk into the office, the entire team is welcoming, kind, and professional. They go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and at ease, which means everything to someone like me. I recently had an appointment scheduled for a permanent crown and a filling, and due to an unexpected office emergency, it had to be rescheduled. Honestly, it was no big deal—but what really stood out was what happened next. Just a few days later, I received a thoughtful note along with a gift card from the office apologizing for the inconvenience and inviting me to have lunch on them. That level of care and attention is rare these days. It truly shows how much they value their patients. Fantastic experience: I had such a great experience with Dr Lowe. She is truly amazing. Her procedures are incredibly gentle and virtually painless. She recently completed three fillings on my left side, and even without assistance!!! The entire experience was seamless. It was about a two-hour procedure, and I was able to relax the entire time with my eyes closed. While I wasn’t fully asleep, it felt very calm, quiet, and surprisingly restful. She explained everything as she went, which made me feel comfortable and at ease throughout. Her patience, skill, and efficiency really stood out. I’m grateful for the care she provides and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a dentist who makes the experience as comfortable as possible.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been coming to Awesome Smiles Dental Center for over 8 years and I don’t plan on ever going anywhere else. The office is clean, cozy, and modern. However, don’t let that fool you into thinking it’s all about aesthetics; the professionalism of their team (dental hygienists and reception area) coupled with the QUALITY of their work speaks volumes. Dr. Tontra Lowe is amazing! She’s thorough and places emphasis on preventative care and making sure your oral hygiene is cared for from beginning to end. If there are any concerns, she will not hesitate to let you know and arm you with the necessary knowledge and solution. Their appointment system is well thought out and efficient. And their team members are always welcoming! Special mention to Dori, EJ and Ryan for a pleasant experience.

We were looking for a dental office up to date with new state of the art technology and medical treatment with a warm family feel. We have found that office at Awesome Smiles in Gainesville with Dr. Tontra Lowe and staff. The office lives up to their name. They made us and every patient they treat feel awesome. From the front desk scheduling coordinator Kathryn, Dori the front desk manager, EJ & Maria the Medical Assistants, Carisa the Hygienist, and most of all Dr. Tontra Lowe with her humor, knowledge, and professionalism. We are pleased to have found our new dental office.

I had a great experience with Dr. Lowe and her team. The friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere immediately made me feel at ease. Negative experience: I went here after reading all the amazing reviews (it was under my maiden last name if they try to give that “we don’t have you in our records” BS). The staff were very nice and so was Dr. Lowe. I appreciate the detail they put in to personalize the experience. Dr. Lowe ended up telling me I needed veneers on all my teeth (approx. $40k). I sat in my car and cried after the appointment. I went to three more dentists for other opinions and they completely disagreed. She did the same to my husband with his teeth (not with suggesting veneers but other types of costly and painful treatment). Maybe her style is overly preventative, but my husband and I both left this practice feeling like we have horrible teeth. Years later, I’m still triggered when I get a happy birthday email from them every year.

They are also welcoming and friendly right when you meet them. I think it is a really beneficial place to go if you need a dentist that is affordable, reliable, and just a great overall experience!

Dr. Lowe is very personal and walked me through every step of the way everything was carefully explained to me while also using state of the art equipment. Fantastic experience: What started as an emergency visit for a crown that popped off has turned into my new dentist! I have severe dental anxiety and ever since my dentist retired 3 years ago I've been on the hunt for a new permanent dental provider. Not only is the office absolutely stunning and state of the art, everyone I interacted with was fantastic. Nobody dismissed my fears, they explained everything they were doing and even went over step by step what was covered by insurance. No surprise billing! Looking forward to my full exam in a few days and getting my smile back in order.

Fantastic experience: Very nice Dental office with state of the art equipment. I was treated by Dr. Lowe for TMJ and got Botox in my jaw to relieve the pain. He was very knowledgeable and easy to talk with. The front desk staff was very helpful with working with my insurance. Highly recommend.

I've had the pleasure of being seen by both Dr. Lowe in the past and Dr. Basa currently and both exceed the example of professionalism and caring. Before seeing them, I was not diligent about keeping up with my dental care and was extremely nervous about going back. After my first visit, I felt reassured by the end of that appointment that I was in good hands and definitely would be coming back . Negative experience: I have always struggled with going to the dentist office after a traumatic experience as a child. When I moved to northern VA area this office had good reviews. I never had a single good experience here even though I used them for nearly 10 years. First experience was with Dr. Lowes son when he was still in high school. He kept slipping with the instruments and cutting up my gums. (Of note I had him a few years ago when he was on break from school and he was great then, but I didn't appreciate my first encounter). There are always new hygienists and Dr. Lowe is constantly "teaching" new people - she gets annoyed very easily at her hygienists which is why I assume they don't stay there long. They charge for "education" - which is a part of their daily job in my opinion. They tried to get away with massively overcharging me on a few occurrences (several thousand dollars) - I had exceeded my yearly allotment and so they charged me out of pocket and when I said they still needed to bill insurance then I got the agreed upon rate. Would not recommend to my worst enemy. I have moved out of the area and easily found a new great dentist.
