Negative experience: I am extremely upset and worried. I came to have my daughter get braces and she needed a palette expander first due to thumb sucking in the past. She is 13 so she was prescribed to turn twice a day for 10 days. I called on day two and stated my concern because I'm a nurse. I said my daughter is not getting out of bed and complaining of headache and I feel something is not right. After a day and a half I received a call back and was instructed to keep turning the device. I only proceeded with the urging of my daughter. She seemed to deteriorate and was missing school. I called again asking to speak with orthodontist, and once again told them my daughter is not getting out of bed. Covers are over her head, lights bother her she is not thriving. I felt that I wasn't taken seriously at all!! The headaches have still not gone away!!!! Since Jan!!! I've taken my daughter to urgent care and her pediatrician and now I have a referral to a neurologist for April 1. They placed the expander in her mouth end of Jan and I had it removed in Feb as my daughter complained every day of a headache. She has been in her bed every day. She was pulled out of school and in a homeschool now that she can barely accomplish work. This has completely altered our lives. Her bday is next week and this should have been a positive experience. Everyone has a different pain tolerance and when a mom is stating that something doesn't feel right then I urge you to take it serious and maybe alter the plan. Not everyone can tolerate the same treatment. I pray that my daughter is ok and the headaches go away. Otherwise I will be in touch after her neurologist appt. Even at this moment waking my daughter up she states, "Mom my head hurts so bad please just let me sleep!" I am beyond upset!!!! I also just found out the orthodontist is a recent resident graduate 2024 after the office staff lied to me and told me he has been practicing since early 2004. Ultimately, shame on me for not doing my due diligence and taking the recommendation from my insurance company vs my own resourceful self. ******* JUST AN UPDATE ***** IT IS NOW MAY. MY DAUGHTER IS STILL IN CONSTANT PAIN; AND IN BED BASICALLY 24-7; AND I FOUND OUT WHAT CAUSED. DR. ALEX LAYTON YOU SHOULD HAVE TAKEN ME SERIOUSLY AS A NURSE AND MOTHER.... WHEN A MOTHER IS INSISTING SOMETHING IS WRONG... YOU DON'T CONTINUE TO TIGHTEN PALETTE EXPANDER WITHOUT DOING EVERYTHING IN YOUR MEANS TO ASSESS THE CAUSE OF PAIN..... THE WOMAN DENTAL WORKER (BLONDE HAIR; MOTHER) WHO STATED TO YOU... SHOULD WE DO A CBCT SCAN AND YOUR REPLY WAS.... NO NOT NECESSARY.... YOU WERE WRONG... AS YOU TOLD ME.... MY HARVARD COLLEAGUES AND I JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY YOUR DAUGHTER WOULD BE HAVING A CONSTANT HEADACHE.... WELL AFTER SEEING DENTAL SPECIALIST. THE FIRST THING THEY DID WAS CBCT AND IT SHOWED EVERYTHING. NEXT TIME DO BETTER... BECAUSE IT DID CAUSE DAMAGE...WILL BE IN TOUCH!

Fantastic experience: Best dentist experiences I’ve had. Everyone really cares about you so if you’re uncomfortable they will adjust to make sure you feel ok, and they do have decent financial help as well with paying for procedures. All the staff is super nice and absolutely incredible!

Fantastic experience: First off I wanna start by saying I hate going to the dentist. I was greeted this morning by Maria, who is extremely friendly and very helpful. Then I got my x-rays and was seen by the dentist who went over my treatment plan with me, answered all of my questions and then Maria walked me through cost and scheduling all of my appointments. I felt very ease. Would absolutely recommend this office.

Negative experience: Strongly recommend getting a second opinion before agreeing to treatment here. I was pushed toward multiple expensive procedures that several other dentists later confirmed were unnecessary. The experience felt far more like upselling than patient care.

Fantastic experience: I had an absolutely fantastic experience at this dental office from start to finish! I called on a Saturday when my regular dentist was closed, and they got me scheduled for Wednesday. Then on Monday, they called to see if I could come in sooner—which I did—and I was so grateful for the flexibility. Maria at the front desk was amazing right from the phone call. She clearly explained all the pricing, payment plans, insurance options, and even their in-house plan, which ended up making the most sense for me. When I met her in person, she was just as warm and helpful—truly great! Dr. Gilbert greeted me personally with a friendly handshake the moment I arrived, which instantly put me at ease. The whole team felt welcoming and kind. Taylor did my x-rays and was excellent while training Cynthia, who also did a wonderful job. Everyone was professional yet super friendly. Dr. Gilbert took the time to thoroughly explain my treatment plan and what to expect moving forward. I usually just show up every 6 months without really understanding the details, but she made me feel truly invested in my own dental health—such a refreshing change! Ramon handled my deep cleaning and did an incredible job. My teeth look and feel transformed! He even took extra time to show me some great products online for maintaining good oral care at home. From the first phone call to walking out with a brighter smile, this place was professional, caring, and genuinely excellent. I might not remember every name (sorry!), but the level of service was top-notch across the board. Highly recommend—I’ll definitely be back!

Then Alex the best DA I have ever had at a dental office took my x-rays highly recommend him! Then lastly DR. Fantastic experience: I’ve been terrified to go to the dentist and have put it off for years, for which I’m not paying the price. This office got me in super last minute to treat the most immediate problems, then set me up with a realistic treatment plan for everything else I’ll need in a way that made everything less overwhelming. Amazing front office staff, 10/10 dental assistants (they were SO gentle and caring), and Dr. Van Styrk is incredible. It’s never a fun time when you need an emergency dental visit, but the whole office made this experience the best it could possibly be and I am SO grateful for it!

Negative experience: Seeing the review stars lets me know they have a company to fix their reviews because I know zero people who went here that were happy except people from LA that are used to poor service. They charged me thousands right before Xmas last year. (Yes I waited a year to let this play out to make an accurate review) They broke the crown on installation and sent me home(I heard the assistant ask if it was broken and they walked out of the office) finding the damage at home they fought me on a replacement. Then they said they wouldn’t warranty the new one that fell off in months. Go to Dr. Kosta. He charged me half what they did, his staff are local and nice, and he did it in half the time. First Street needs to go back to the city where their subsidiary is. I rarely make reviews. This case needed one

Fantastic experience: I've been going here since 2018 and as someone who is typically afraid of dentists (ahh!!) I always feel comfortable here. Everyone on the staff is very kind and accomodating and they take the time to answer all of your questions and really let you know what's going on with your oral health. They're also financially accomodating with payment plans or flexibility with procedures. I reccomend them to everyone I know and I'm grateful to have found them.

Fantastic experience: I've neglected the dentist for the past 2yrs due to my prior provider's poor service. I had my first appointment at First Street Dental today & had as great of an experience as I've ever had at the dentist I can remember. The staff were all extremely friendly & helpful. I felt comfortable & appreciated as a client. It sounds silly to say, but I'm elated to be back on track with my dental maintenance in an environment where I'm not dreading my next appointment. I give an full throated 5 star endorsement to FSD.

Negative experience: Bert and Christopher, I am so sorry that happen to you. I wonder if they use two separate systems to book appointments? First Street Dental has been my choice for dental work for years. I do think the dental crew are great and do their best to make you feel comfortable. Overall quality of work I personally have had no issues with. I also have some concerns with billing. The billing is not as transparent for me. First I was informed that we MUST be utilizing the “signing in process through the app/ipad”. I understand most medical practices are utilizing the digital file system for liability etc. If the company is asking us to utilize checking in digitally than the company should be able to respond through that same system (My Chart). I had reached out twice requesting information, No response. I believe I even remembered to reach out an email given from my dental company and no response. My requests were regarding a pretreatment plan quote (since I misplaced the first one given at the office) and if they accepted an additional dental program/plan. No response. I reached out to my dental plan who explained my benefits, when I shared what I could remember they had quoted me they informed me that amount does not sound correct. My dental plan called the office for me, the dental plan lady was placed on hold for about 20 minutes and eventually was not able to hold any longer. I wish the billing was more transparent and staff response were written. Just as they want us to use the system for checking in they also should be able to adapt to emailing and canceling appointments not just scheduling appointments. I am unsure of what my next steps will be but do know that I need my cleaning.

Fantastic experience: Amazing staff. Completely amazing. So welcoming and caring. Explained everything very thoroughly and were very understanding. I cannot say enough about how amazing they all were and especially Dr Jade. She is so gentle and kind and made me laugh. (Of course when she wasn’t working on my teeth) 100% recommend them.

Negative experience: Maria, the manager, needs to find a new job. Seriously. STORY TIME: I got an email June 2025 that I got a refund of $626 from them. When I checked the billing on my portal, it says the contrary: I OWED THEM $626. I called right away to clarify this but MARIA, was on a month long vacation and won’t be back first week of July. I waited for almost a month and finally got a hold of MARIA. She promised to look into it and get back to me ASAP (Spoiler Alert: She never did). I called again early August but once again, MARIA is on leave. Fast forward to my next cleaning appointment end of August, she had the nerve to confirm my appointment to which I said, “clear your my billing first because Im not coming back up until you do that”. Only then she stated the following: 1. Their billing made an “accidental” refund 2. They supposedly sent me a check that I never received 3. That I owe them $626 because of that Obviously I am not paying $626 for their error and for something I did not receive in the first place. I sent her my bank statements as proof of that. It was only then they cleared my “debt”. Take note that in the middle of all of this, DEBT COLLECTORS WERE CALLING ME day and night. The last straw for me was when MARIA supposedly rebooked my cleaning appointment for last Friday, only to find out that I wasn’t on their system and the hygienist already left for the day. I love the services here, my dentist, the front office, but MARIA, seriously, find a new job. You don’t belong in this office. You ruin a lot of good things here. I hope you see and read this.

Fantastic experience: Dr Gilbert and her team are very welcoming and supportive. The unknown is the worst thing to deal with. After I let go and let them do their job thats what they do best ,it all worked out in the end. I Was worried for no reason. Got the tooth pulled. No pain, very little pressure. Fantastic experience: I am currently unhoused and I found out about the 1st Street Dental Group free dental cleaning day through of the homeless organizations in the area. I hadn’t been to the dentist in over a year and I was really excited to get a cleaning done. From the first moment I walked in the staff were very friendly with me. Everyone was patient and kind. My dentist Ms. Sony (I pray I spelled it right) was very patient and kind with me and she answered all of my questions and I asked a lot of them. I felt welcome and safe. They also had an amazing playlist going while I was there. Words can’t express how appreciative I am of this dental group. I would most def come here again.
