Oak Park Dentistry For Children & Orthodontics

Negative experience: The medical staff is good. But EVERY TIME there is some issue with them not having our insurance info. We have to give it every time even though its the same insurance for years. Years. Same problem every time.

Fantastic experience: Our kids have been going here for years. We've had them perform dental and orthodontic work. The kids actually like going to the dentist because of the way the staff interacts with them and the way that the dental office is decorated like a fun, woodsy space. There is no other dentist I would want my children to use.

Positive experience: I am extremely disappointed and concerned by the way my daughter’s dental care has been handled by this practice. My daughter has an infected tooth as well as four additional cavities requiring treatment. It has taken more than two weeks to get her treatment scheduled, despite the fact that she has been experiencing significant dental pain. The situation became even more concerning when she developed a widespread rash after taking medication prescribed in connection with her dental treatment. I called approximately six times between two office locations trying to get guidance about the possible medication reaction and my daughter’s ongoing pain. I was unable to get an appropriate response or have her assessed, nor was I given clear guidance about whether her symptoms warranted emergency medical evaluation. Meanwhile, the practice collected a $250 deposit from me without providing a clear date for when the dental procedure I was paying toward would actually take place. When a child has an infected tooth, is in significant pain, and then develops a possible allergic reaction to medication, a parent should not have to repeatedly chase a healthcare provider for basic communication and guidance. I understand that scheduling challenges happen and that dental offices cannot necessarily diagnose every medical reaction over the phone. What I cannot understand is the lack of urgency, communication, and follow-through when a seven-year-old patient is experiencing these symptoms. After this experience, I no longer have confidence in this practice’s handling of my daughter’s care.

Negative experience: We have been coming here for years for both my kids. I have referred countless people over the years. Our experience today left me quite upset. We came in to fill a cavity. They had me sign an estimate for the treatment plan for $102. When we were tone & I checked out they told me I owed $169.i told them I was told $102 when checking in & her response was “that was just an estimate”. I asked if anything changed from the treatment plan I had signed & there wasn’t. If your “estimate” is off by more than 60% then you need to do better. That is unacceptable. I will bo longer refer anyone here & I will seriously reconsider returning. What a shame after all these years. So disappointed in the customer service when we checked out & lack of explanation or accountability about their incorrect estimates.

Fantastic experience: This dentist's office is great, as well as their ortho team. I had braces when I was younger and had a retainer, but yes, "My Puppy" chewed it up into a mess of colors, not a rainbow anymore. When we moved to CA, this place caught my eye as a great fun place to go. There are so many colors and designs to pick from, and there is gross taste from the models. They taste like bubble gum, and their timing is fast your in and out, and they answered all the questions that you have. You want to be with your kids, well, you can there is even a seat there for you. If you're not an adult who has a kid spirit with fun colors, well, this is not your place. But for the people that want color in there life with a retainer this is the place to go.!!!!!!!!!

Positive experience: We've been going here for years, I went to the original location as a child. I'm usually a proponent of Oak Park Dentistry but today's experience has me questioning that. The issues seemed to stem from the check in process. We were left waiting for over 45 mins until I asked how much longer it would be. Turns out they had forgotten about us and sent the doctor home! So unprofessional and truthfully, not what I expect from this office. Very disappointed in not only what happened but how they handled it.

Negative experience: We called ahead to confirm our new Aetna PPO insurance was in network and were told everything looked fine. We received no notice of any issue. After the visit, we were billed because the dentist our children saw was out of network — something we were never told. The office said there was nothing they could do and that a manager would call us back. No call back — just a bill. Very disappointing experience, especially since we tried to verify coverage in advance.

Positive experience: Phone number #1 doesnt work. In the automated voicemail they tell you to use phone number #2. Phone number #2 also doesnt work and they tell you in an automated voicemail to use the same #2 number that you called and doesnt work. This is one example of a larger issue. It has been difficult to schedule appointments for our 2 young kids, with diffferent things done at different locations. The staff has added to the confusion instead of assisting to help us pay them for services. We had an appt scheduled 10/29/25 for our son and my wife received a voicemail stating the OP office does not do this service actually and that day and time and location will not work. Why was the appointment scheduled in the first place by them then? When I called back, see above. This is not the first time or the 2nd. Organizationally, this place needs an overhaul. The staff itself are fine and have been great with our kids. Trying to set an appt time, date, location for a specific service has been an ongoing battle for months and well I'm quite sick of it. 3 stars. Average.

Negative experience: We are very pleased with the professionalism of the orthodontics side but agree with other reviewers that the dentistry side is only interested in money and some of the workers are lacking customer service. My son needed an oral surgery procedure and orthodontics recommended the in-house surgeon. The front desk threw a flat payment of $3000 and said my insurance would max out at $1500 and I need to pay the rest ($1500). No explanation, itemization, or rationalization of the cost was given. I shopped around for other surgeons and was recommended to five others, all of whom happily provided their price ranges and fees for the procedure, anesthesia, and aftercare. We ultimately chose a highly regarded practice near Woodland Hills, which clearly itemized all costs and was $571 out-of-pocket. Nearly $1000 cheaper than Oak Park Dentistry. This other office's customer service, genuine care, empathy, honesty, and professionalism are outstanding. Feel free to contact me if you'd like further information or recommendations.

Positive experience: Beautiful facility. Fantastic, informative caring doctors.My 3 year old had a cavity filled early enough to not have numbing and I didn't want the laughing gas. They did the work with a video on and were done in 20 minutes. Dr. Barry and assistant were wonderful. (Front desk is unpleasant and aggressive though)

Fantastic experience: I visited Oak Park Dentistry for the first time and was extremely pleased. The waiting room is inviting with a tree slide great for kids. The dental assistant was a wealth of knowledge and very personable. The dentist, Dr. Alami, was also easy to talk to, informative, and caring. My son was very engaged with them and overall it was a great first experience!

Fantastic experience: Cutest pediatric dentistry waiting room EVER! Kind, wonderful staff and amazing doctors/dentists! Both nurses and doctors are extremely thorough and caring, they make sure parent understands every procedure, and they address every question or concern the parent or child has. Highly recommend!!

Negative experience: Front office is horrible. No customer service. Brought kids in twice this year for a cleaning & u don’t see a welcome face anymore. Totally ignoring me & went on talking amongst themselves. Then, it was like go ahead have a seat ur checked in. Well that didn’t take long but you were chit chatting away. Bad vibe from the beginning. Paid my bills & told wait 2 wks r so for reimb from my ins. Well it’s been a month. Called in & they said they didn’t submit to ins yet & will do it now. 2 wks later I called in to say I didn’t see any claims when I sign into my ins website. We already submitted call your ins. I asked them to verify the info. Well guess what, no claim cause they sent in wrong info. Reimb came but was only for 1 child. Where’s the other. We did send in u need to call your ins. God dammit, I believe u should check r call to see what u did. I didn’t get my reimb b/c of your delay & error. Gonna take my kids to another place. I would give -star if That was an option, don’t deserve even a star.

Fantastic experience: This was my first time here, and I thought this dentist place was an absolute fairytale dream come true for my son and for me the doctor was magnificent. She understood my son speech delay, his current fear of teeth and brushing his teeth, and she was very empathetic and got the job done. She gave me an opportunity to help her by helping hug my child so she can review his cavities and he’s only 2 1/2 not only that but they walk me through every single thing in a instant Right before and following the appointment they really are spectacular

Fantastic experience: We have been going to OPCD since my son was 18 months old and he’s now almost 19. We always have a great experience and my kids get so happy when they know they’re going g to the dentist.

Fantastic experience: This place is wonderful. We just switched over because my son needed a root canal. They referred us out but asked us to come back after so we did. Dr. Amali and his assistant were sooo good with my kiddo. He was nervous and they did everything to make his experience great. We are definitely switching to this establishment permanently.

Negative experience: They accidentally charged me more than 1k saying that my insurance is not active. I proved to them that it is and I am waiting for my refund for months. They claim they “sent the request” still they are holding the money and unless I constantly call them no one is calling me back or giving me any information.

Negative experience: The oral surgery portion of this office only cares about money and not their patients. My daughter had very high anxiety about her wisdom teeth removal and had to reschedule her appt. They charged a cancellation fee, even though the surgery was actually performed. I have continually tried to speak to someone about my bill only to be told I would get a call back. NO ONE EVER DID. I regret referring a patient to them because they had trouble with their bill as well.

We have had nothing but great experiences there and now that one of my kids is in college, they have been wonderful about squeezing her in according to her tight college schedule. We have always had fantastic service and their teeth are amazing! One thing I’m always nervous about with Dentists is that they recommend services that you don’t really need. At Oak Park Dentistry For Children, Everything they’ve ever suggested sounds completely rational, and I have agreed to all of it. I recommend them highly!

Fantastic experience: I cannot recommend Dr Barry and Oak Park dentistry enough. Dr Barry is so patient and kind with my very nervous kids and after having a not so great appt with another dentist we are so happy we have found Dr Barry!

Negative experience: The hygienists and dentist my kids have seen at this office are so kind and professional. On the other hand, the front desk staff at the office is horrendous. They are unfriendly, curt, and unprofessional. Upon arrival for your kid’s appointment you will barely be greeted and have an iPad shoved at you to complete forms. I had a question regarding my insurance coverage and after being put on hold multiple times and my call mysteriously disconnected, the best explanation I could get was “we are somewhere between in and out of network.” What?? You’re either in network or not. I was also offered a call back by the office manager, but I was never called.

Fantastic experience: Everyone is professional, polite and accommodating. The dentists, orthodontists and technicians on both sides are lovely. My daughters visits are pleasant and they do their best to get you in and out. So happy to have found this place.

Negative experience: BEWARE! I was so excited when I found this dental office. I have an autistic son and he needed teeth removed. I had just moved to the area. My son has a lot of anxiety and is not easy to handle for appointments like this. The dentists were great and made him feel comfortable. My reason for 1 star was upon leaving the front desk was pretty firm about scheduling his followup appointment for 4 cavities in molars that he needed filled. My son was 11 year old and never had a cavity in his life (we had seen his previous dentist every 6 months since he had teeth). Something felt wrong when they told me about the cavities and I voiced how it was pretty hard to believe but they assured me he had cavities. I took him to a different dentist and had them do X-rays. It is now 2 years later and he still has never had a cavity. I am so grateful I trusted my intuition and got a second opinion. I do not ever like writing bad reviews but this has bothered me for a long time and I feel like other parents should be aware.

Fantastic experience: The best place to take young kids for a visit to the dentist! The doctors are incredible, all the staff really… our kids loved it because the office is kid friendly and set up like a tree house. Overall highly recommend.

The front desk, hygienists, assistants and dentists make it so fun while teaching and conservatively fixing. My daughter had to have procedure under sedation a year ago when she was four years old. Dr. Alami is world class and did an incredible job!!! Mina and Dalyse were so sweet and skilled too! What a great team!! My sensitive daughter did not flinch once and can't wait to go back. My son had his first appointment today and loved it too! Thank you all! Everyone is so nice at the office, and we are so glad the treehouse and slide is open again :-D

Fantastic experience: Stop looking, this is the place to take your little ones and it’s extremely affordable. I took my four year old and they treated her so well and explained everything to her perfectly. She’s four years old and felt very comfortable during the filling. They put on special glasses with a movie. It was quick and more affordable then western dental. The staff, the office and doctors are the best.

Fantastic experience: My baby’s 2 year old appointment went great because the team at op children’s dentistry is excellent! They showed him all of the tools and made it fun, they sang to him while cleaning and counting his teeth, and they had him sit on my lap which all helped so much! Can’t recommend them enough. Negative experience: Do not take your child here. Definitely do not let your child see Dr. Yu she has no idea how to deal with kids. My 4 year old said he doesn't want his tooth fixed and she told him then why did you come today ?! Crazy person. They over book kids and never have them see the same Dr every time. They didn't treat me son's tooth for over 6 months and just let the cavity get worse. They are new graduate Drs that do not have the experience to work with young kids. They traumatized my son and I will never go back. Thankfully Ocean Adventures dentistry fixed everything and took all my sons fears away ! Do not go here.
