Fantastic experience: I went to Dr. Subka‘s office today to have my teeth cleaned. As always, it was a great experience. All of the staff members are courteous and comfortable to be around. The hygienist was thorough, gentle and explained what she was doing throughout the process. Probably the most important thing to me is the honesty and integrity of Dr. Subka’s diagnoses. Besides being delightful to be around , I have complete confidence in her expertise - that is she will assess accurately and not do anything that is not completely necessary. In today’s world, that’s a rare find!

Fantastic experience: So far, very positive. I’ve had my share of dental work, so I consider myself well versed enough to leave a review. Let’s get one thing out of the way. This is NOT one of those chain offices run like a skincare spa, where a commissioned “coordinator” signs you up and sells you on various services including upsells. I’m used to, and prefer Dr. Subka’s kind of practice, as opposed to a mercenary commercial enterprise, run by bean counters. This doctor was recommended to me by decades-long friends, as well as newer friends with whom I play pickleball. I needed a new dentist because all of my “old” dentists, well… grew old. I.e., they retired. I prefer dentists who were trained at USC, and Dr. Subka fits that criterion. From what I saw, the office has one relaxed and personable receptionist / admin, a hygienist, one or two dental assistants, the dentist, and what appears to be an office manager. I recall there were about three rooms for dental procedures, plus one for hygiene, and one for X-rays. At the end of the hallway is a panoramic X-ray machine. I've actually only had panoramics done by an oral surgeon, so that was impressive. In addition to the panoramic X-ray, they did numerous digital single-frame X-rays. I had made my first appointment as an introductory visit for a cleaning, X-rays, and exam. The cleaning was one of the most thorough I've ever had. It started with a visual exam, followed by pocket measurements, next ultrasonic cleaning, then manual scaling, and finally polish. It took well over an hour, but won’t next time, since the measurements don't happen every visit. The exam by the dentist started with a warm introduction, lots of sincere eye contact, a discussion of my concerns, then a lot of poking around. I had asked for a fluoride treatment, which she did as we discussed the restorations that would need replacement, since I had ground through some of mine over the years. She referred me to a periodontist, sadly, because I had a place that would need a gum graft. Argh! I was thrilled to learn that she is willing and able to work with gold. Even though it costs more, my mechanics and chemistry work better with the inert malleable material. That put my mind at ease. I’m not afraid of the dentist, but I know many people are. It is hard for me to project how a fearful patient would feel. I can say, though, I felt cared-for and relaxed. I am confident this practice would handle fear with aplomb. This practice is up with technology, sends appointment reminder text messages, has online “paperwork”, so a clipboard is not the first thing I saw when I entered the office. They gave me a cute introductory goody bag with various flair. And how cool it wasn’t the ubiquitous toothbrush and floss lol. I won’t be a spoiler, you’ll need to go and see for yourself. At first I was not very impressed with the office’s stance on private insurance. It turns out, though, they efficiently submitted claims which were paid to me directly. I did pay as I went, but that’s fine. I think that’s how most dental practices work, especially given how lame most dental policies actually are. So far Dr Subka has replaced five gold crowns / onlays for me and done a stellar job. One thing I must mention is that I’ve never had a dentist leave no evidence of the numbing shot. Not only did I not feel the shot when it was happening, but I wasn’t sore the next day. I referred my husband to Dr. Subka and he likes her as much as I do.

Fantastic experience: Having been with Dr. Subka for just over a year now, I am grateful to feel the competence that she and the rest of her practice exude. That was sorely missing in our previous six years of experience living in Morro Bay. I had the need for two implants while my partner needed two crowns, and in both cases she was not completely satisfied with the color of what the lab provided, so had them redone while we were spared any extra expense.

Negative experience: I booked a cleaning based on the complimentary new patient consultation and x-ray advertised on the website. After the appointment, I was billed $277, in addition to the cleaning, for a new patient exam and x-rays. When I contacted billing about the discrepancy, I was told the advertised offer only applies to patients with "something like a toothache," which is not stated anywhere in the ad. I was also told that because multiple x-rays were taken rather than a single x-ray, the promotion no longer applied. I asked whether these distinctions were documented anywhere in writing, and I was told they were not. During the exam, I was not informed that a set of x-rays would be taken that would void the advertised offer. When I questioned the charge afterward, I was told it was my responsibility as the patient to ask whether the promotion applied at the time the x-rays were taken, despite clear advertising with no disclosed exclusions. I was also told I was being aggressive for raising the question. Overall, the experience, particularly with the advertising and billing process, made me feel uncomfortable and taken advantage of. If you come here, get written confirmation of all costs and what any advertised promotions actually include before agreeing to treatment. Attached is from their website where you can clearly see the complimentary services they claim, but at the end of the day billed me for.

The waiting room is a beautiful, calm experience and they run on time. The “crown in a day” service is fabulous and I am so happy with all the restoration of my smile! Negative experience: I had a 10:am appointment for a teeth cleaning. I was advised serveral times and reminded about my 10 a.m. appointment and to sign, as usual, that I would be financial responsible, all good - right. The actuality of this appointment was to arrive at 10 so they could provide services- like xrays before the cleaning. I was not advised on that or how much that would cost. As we determined the cost we went ahead and did xrays. My appointment was 10 a.m., but after I had waited 45 minutes in this chair, they came to get me to bring me to a different room, and the hygienist noticed my appoint with the doctor was not until 11:30. That was intentional to have me wait 45 minutes for their schedule...really!!!! I felt incredibly sick...first without asking, assuming I could pay for xrays and secondly, they absolutely knew I would be sitting there for 45 minutes. You not only lost me as a customer - but 3 others - and counting. Do not assume anything, very very unprofessional!

Fantastic experience: What an amazing experience! I was welcomed, given a gift, & immediately shown to my first evaluation-a cutting edge scan of my oral cavity that no other dentist has provided. Then I received the most thorough dental cleaning with lots of education & explanation by Carla. But wait! There's more! Dr. Subka evaluated my scan & x-rays, did a thorough oral & tooth exam & gave me great education about my dental health & what I needed. The entire visit was seamless, comfortable, & informational. Fantastic experience: I experienced trauma to my front teeth due to orthodontic work 3 times then my dog charging me because he was happy to see me….. that finally lead to me needing to get my front teeth pulled and implants placed. I was extremely scared that my front teeth were going to look fake but I’m super happy with the results! I got my front teeth placed and they look so natural you can’t even tell they are implants. Fantastic experience: I stupidly broke a tooth chewing on a vitamin gummy (getting old ain't for sissies). I called my dentist but couldn't get in, but fortunately I got Kim at Dr. Subka's office on the phone and she said it was my lucky day due to a cancellation. Truer words were never spoken as my visit to Dr. Subka was fantastic! Gift bags! Laughter! Painless X-rays! Beautiful color 4K photos of my broken tooth! Dr. Subka and her funny hygienist were wonderful and took the time to calm me down. The only bummer was that she does not take my insurance so we decided that I was stable enough to wait to see my dentist the next day. I highly recommend this dental office (even though the good Doctor is a USC Trojan!) and look forward to visiting again in the future.

Fantastic experience: I had an amazing experience at Dr. Subka's office! I'm getting married this Friday and had a filling (a filling done at a different dentist's office) fall out of one of my front teeth recently. I called Dr. Subka's office on Monday, explained my situation, and I was in the office the very next day getting my filling replaced. Dr. Subka and her entire team were all very friendly and welcoming. Everyone made me feel relaxed and comfortable. My filling was fixed before I knew it and I didn't feel a thing, when normally I'm quite sensitive at the dentist. Also, everyone wished me well for my wedding which made me feel great.

Fantastic experience: My dental hygienist always does a great job cleaning my teeth and I love her. Dr. Subka is the best dentist I have ever had. She takes great care of my teeth and only do things for the best of me not her.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Subka is an excellent dentist. I trust her so much that when I lived in Vancouver, Canada, I flew down for a day to see her and have some dental work done. Yesterday, Dr. Subka implanted a post for a new tooth. The procedure was painless and took half an hour from beginning to end. I'd been told by two other oral surgeons that I would need a sinus lift. Dr. Subka was able to implant the post without a sinus lift. She is my hero!
