Fantastic experience: The staff & the dentist are very personable and courteous. Very pleasant atmosphere

Negative experience: I am extremely disappointed with the customer service at Peekskill Dental Associates, specifically the receptionist who answers the phones and schedules appointments. This is now my third negative experience with her. Every time I call, she comes across as rude, impatient, and as though she doesn’t want to be there. She offers no solutions and speaks to patients with a dismissive attitude. Today, my appointment had to be rescheduled because the hygienist wasn’t available. I called more than 20 times trying to reschedule and even left a voicemail. When someone finally answered, the call was disconnected. After that, I called from a different phone because I genuinely felt like my calls were being ignored. When I tried to reschedule, I simply asked her to tell me the available day first so I could decide what time worked for me. Instead of helping, she told me, “You can call back on Monday since you’re being nasty,” even though I was only trying to schedule my appointment. When I asked for her name, she sarcastically responded, “My name is ‘Call back on Monday,’” instead of identifying herself. I then attempted to ask for her manager’s name, but she abruptly hung up before I could finish speaking. That level of unprofessionalism is unacceptable. There was no reason for the way I was treated. Patients deserve to be spoken to with courtesy and respect, especially when they are trying to reschedule an appointment that the office itself had to change. The dentists and hygienists may provide excellent care, but the first impression of any practice is the person answering the phone. Unfortunately, this receptionist’s behavior has been consistently rude, dismissive, and unprofessional. Because of these repeated experiences, I will not be returning to this office. I hope the practice addresses this issue by providing customer service training or reevaluating whether this person is the right fit for a patient-facing role. No patient should have to deal with this kind of treatment simply for trying to reschedule an appointment.

Negative experience: TERRIBLE , FRAUDULENT BILLING , NO EMPATHY , I went to this dentist with extreme pain in my gums , I was told I needed anti biotic injections that insurance would not cover . The pain was so intense I almost was beside myself and I asked can i please at least have oral antibiotics and was told "it doesmt worl that way , they dont work the same and will not work for your situation " She gave me a cleaning and prescribed NOTHING. I immediately made a virtual urgent care appointment afterwards , the doctor IMMEDIATELY gave me oral antibiotics , a special mouthwash and oral lidocaine rinse . The infection was GONE in less than a week. The peekskill dentist LIED to get thousands out of pocket from me . ****IT GETS BETTER**** My wife went to the same location , she had very bad pain and needed teeth pulled. The dentist told her she needed 8 teeth pulled and NEEDED 4 BONE GRAFTS in her gums. After my experience I told her to just go somewhere else. The new dentist (in buchanan , hes fantastic !) Told her she DID NOT NEED ANY BONE GRAFTS AND THAT HER BONE IN HER GUMS WAS PERFECTLY HEALTHY !!! THIS. DENTIST IS A SCAM ARTIST AND FRAUDULENT BILLER. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THESE DEGENERATES she could have easily prescribed me oral antibiotics as I was visibly in terrible pain , i guess she enjoys seeing people distraught and helpless and my wife did not need half the work they said she did !!

The nurse was awesome, very helpful and thorough, guided us thru our insurance plan and assisted with the process for better coverage and the most economical routes. The oral surgeon had excellent bedside manners, was very communicative and thorough. He did an awesome job with my son’s surgery. My son couldn’t even believe he was done when the procedure ended. 1000 out of 10. Definitely recommend.

Negative experience: From the very beginning I got a bad vibe from this dental office. I arrived 15 min early to my appt. There were four men, ahead of me, one of them complaining that he’s been waiting too long , the other three just nodded their heads. I knew that I would’ve experiencing the same but I thought to myself, no big deal as long as they are clean and the dentist is thorough I’m good. While I’m in the waiting room I kept hearing people having Conversations right next to me., it almost seemed like they were sitting right next to me in the waiting room . When I took a closer look I realized that one of the exam rooms is there and you can literally hear everything!!!!! I could not believe when I heard the Dr tell a patient that he thinks he has cancer and wants him to get a biopsy. Whaaaat ?! HIPPA !!!!! I told the receptionist and of course she was surprised and proceeded to play the radio so we can’t hear what was being said inside that room, but at that point it was too late for me. Needless to say I was out. Very unprofessional and I hope that man doesn’t have cancer.

Negative experience: My husband went in for tooth pain that also had an abscess. The office quoted him an extra price of $450. They refused to call the insurance, they refused to answer if he would get the money back after insurance paid them. We have now received a detailed letter from the insurance stating the procedure is covered. This place should be completely reviewed by the state and their records should be audited. This office is double charging everyone.

Negative experience: Consultation wait was 2 hours and then had me come back to tell me they couldn’t pull my tooth out worst place ever I wouldn’t send my family to this place

Negative experience: Beware of this place. They told me false information that I had gum disease, and sent it to my insurance company. My insurance contacted me and told me that the x-ray show that I do not have it. They also said I had a cleaning done at the office, but I did not have that cleaning done. Also, the office is dirty and dusty. Disgusted with this place.

Negative experience: whoever answers the phone is very nasty with a horrible attitude and she should be happy i kept my cool. i was only trying to figure out my situation with an appointment and the lady kept saying “ill get back to you”. never got back to me and when id call for answers she’d give attitude. i had to call 11 times for an answer because she might’ve recognized my number and didn’t want to answer on purpose. when she finally answered INSTANT attitude. i’m a young guy with a fear of calling to make appointments because i don’t know what to do or say and she did not help that at all. you’d think she has neck veins popping out with how upset she was to do her job.

Positive experience: So far my experience(s) at Peekskill Dental Associates (PDA) have been very positive and pain free, Dr. Schecter has a gentle hand and I’m glad to have found a good dentist; the staff has been polite and attentive. I’m very pleased, and also they don’t overbook so you’re seen on time and treated without the sense of being on an assembly line. I give 4 stars because no place is perfect.

Negative experience: I had a very bad experience at this dental office. I went in December because I had severe tooth pain, and they told me I needed a root canal. However, they said they did not have a doctor available at that time and that they were not sure if my insurance would cover the treatment. A few days later, my insurance confirmed that it would cover the entire treatment and told me to schedule an appointment. When I called the office, they said they would call me back — but they never did. I called again and was told the same thing, and once again, no one ever called me back. They showed no concern for my pain or my situation. I do not recommend this dentist to anyone.

Negative experience: Dont come here for wisdom tooth removal. They will only do the service if they are able to add a bone graft whether you need one or not, which is a scam, just an extra way for them to make money when everything else is covered by your insurance. They said they would do all 4 and charge me for 2 bone grafts, but still gave me 2 prices of 1600 or 2800. Which makes no sense.

Fantastic experience: I wish I knew about Peekskill Dental Associates when I chipped two teeth on the bottom eating butter pecan ice cream & like a domino effect my other teeth next to them started breaking to the point where I need dentures now… I could've saved my teeth! Everyone that worked there Very Professional, extremely helpful and understanding to my hearing loss which I had to make people repeat & many people get sigh and get irritated/aggravated because I make them repeat… And because people have treated me like this I don't like being in public…stores, doctors appointment and yes the dentist or I wouldn't be in the position I am now so I thank them very much meant more to me than I can truly explain…and I thank them all of my heart for helping me with my dental problem they're the BEST I recommend to ALL Peekskill Dental Associates 100%

Fantastic experience: I personally had a pleasant experience at Peekskill Dental Associates. Went in for a chipped tooth, Dr. Khaloo was upfront about the cost of a cosmetic repair and brought my smile back — they also squeezed me in for a cleaning, and Pam the hygienist was excellent. “Wow that’s crazy never would have thought you chipped it” - my friends when i sent them a pic of my fixed smile. Small office that takes a lot of insurance so be prepared to wait some time, but overall they seemed pretty fast and efficient.

Fantastic experience: Peekskill Dental Associates is the first time I’ve felt at ease and taken care of at a dentist. Dr. Khaloo really takes the time to explain what and why he’s doing. He puts extreme care into the procedure and makes your dental health his priority. The front desk staff has been wonderful, as well. After having to cancel an appointment, they fit me in two days later. Other offices I’ve waited weeks for appointments. I’m glad I found this place.

I have bad anxiety when going to the dentist my blood pressure shoots up as soon as I will go into the dentist office. Dr. Joseph Khaloo was very patient he explained everything that he was going to do. He took his time and made sure I was comfortable and did not feel pain.He kept asking if I was OK as he worked on me he made me feel comfortable. His assistant was very nice and she made me comfortable as well. The receptionist was very helpful. She helped me with the paperwork that I needed. My first experience there was great and I do plan on going back.

He takes his time with you to explain what's going on. The dental assistant Levi is wonderful. A really nice girl. Very professional and knowledgeable. Now I finally found a great dentist.

Negative experience: Steer away from Dr. Cameron Lewis. He will refuse to go through your insurance, so you're forced to pay out of pocket !!! After he claimed my insurance denied my claim. I called them. They did in fact approve the surgery completely. And Mr. Lewis refused to use them. So, since I wouldn't pay him the $5000 out of pocket. He dropped me as a patient. This is a very, very shady office. Do your own research when dealing with them. Call your insurance company and confirm your claim is covered. DONT TRUST THEM.

Fantastic experience: After months of waiting and calling around and being blown off and cancelled and put on waiting lists then cancelation lists trying to get an appointment with just about any dental office, I finally came across one that was able to get me in within less than a month. I would recommend Peekskill Dental associates to anyone and everyone due to their great and more than kind services from the professionals at the front desk- Nelly and Tamara to the X-ray tech Levi and the surgical assistant, my new friend Russel who were all more than helpful and polite while helping me in a professional courteous manner up until the end.!!! Thank you to all of the staff at Peekskill Dental associates.

Negative experience: Nice people but they canceled three appointments on me just within the last 4 months, so their staffing schedules seem a bit unpredictable. Also, when it comes to expensive treatment recommendations they could do a better job explaining the rationale for their recommendations. For example, they suggested that I needed four teeth restored at a cost of $5400 but said it matter of factly without any real explanation the first time and on a subsequent visit they provided a cursory explanation after I pressed them for one. The hygienist tends to do the work for the routine polishing and scaling and the dentist then typically steps in for a couple of minutes to share any additional information typically in a rushed and somewhat dismissive manner that seems to suggest that you should just listen to whatever they say since they’re the authority figure and not ask too many questions or any questions but rather just do what they say. And of course they are more than happy to collect your money, but that’s to be expected.

Fantastic experience: Hi there, my name is Johann, I live a few minutes drive from Peekskil Dental, and I consider myself fortunate to have Dr. Allison Schecter as my dentist since 2001. Dr. Schecter has a steady, gentle touch, and I feel she takes her time without rushing. The assistants are all very professional, and the front desk (Tamara) is very quick when I need another appointment or an email or help with my insurance. I am very much thankful for these ladies’ help!

Negative experience: Not a great dental office at all. Walls are very thin and seem to be more like just dividers so in the waiting room you can hear the conversations of patients being treated in the exam rooms. Also, scheduling is weird as they have definitely change appointment times without notifying us and then when we show up at our original time they tell you you are late and they can't see you.

Negative experience: I’ve been waiting over an hour and a half to be seen. Unreal! I had a Telehealth appointment the same day which I had to cancel and pay a fee. So frustrating.

Fantastic experience: I have to say, I have trauma from going to the dentist. For my first appointment here, I can say, they put me at ease and gave me a treatment plan. I have to say, I’m ready to take my teeth to another level and gain back my smile!

Negative experience: It was a terrible experience. My appointment was at 1:30 on a tuesday and I didn’t receive service until 2:35. One of the z-ray techs didn’t know how to proper place the guard in my mouth and the guard was pointing into my eye. By 3:10, I had still not seen the dentist. So unprofessional.

Fantastic experience: I am a new patient a Peekskill Dental. My first appointment was on November 26 the day beforeThanksgiving. I was truly impressed with the exceptional welcome I received from Diana at the front desk, she is truly a jem. Her personality was a breath of fresh air. She radiate kindness and went above and beyond to make me feel that I truly belong there. The Hygienic is the best I have ever had. When she got done cleaning my teeth all I could day was WOW, WOW. WOW. MY OVERALL EXPERIENCE WAS VERY POSITIVE. EVERYONE WAS SUPER NICE. I WILL BE RECOMMENDING NEW PATIENTS.

Positive experience: My teeth have truly never been better. I haven’t had cavities since coming here. Prior to coming here, I used to have cavities at every checkup without fail. The staff are wonderful. Extremely attentive, personable, and good spirited. I have no complaints. I don’t even live in the area anymore and I still drive an hour to go back to make sure I am well taken care of. Hidden gem.

Negative experience: Horrible experience... Lying about a lot of things. Only cleaned half my mouth stating insurance covers only half per visit and I had to make a second appt for the other side. Lied saying I had 2 cavities. Lied stating I could not change the dentist. Went to another dentist and they found 1 cavity and got my mouth cleaned completely in one visit.

Positive experience: First time being at the office and the wait time was not bad at all. The hygienist there which is a temp was amazing. The dentist was kind and thorough and explaining the treatments needed. I only gave it a four star Because I only observed the clean in the room that I was in which was decent. Look forward to going back.

Negative experience: One of the worst places to have as your dental group every time I set up an appointment it always gets canceled last minute. This has been the fourth time this has happened and they don't ever accommodate when they cancel your appointment. Never again will I or my family be using this office ever again due to there subpar planning and customer service.

This was great for me, because I was putting off an appointment because I don't really care for the dentist. The office really changed my opinion of the dentist. I would recommend this dentist office to everyone. The dentist is a young guy, he seems very on the ball.

Positive experience: I took my girl all the way there to get a bone shaving in the lower front of her mouth..now the mistake came cause the referral was 2 years old because the doctor didn't give her the update referral with the update photos.. the staff tried to charge her anyway out of her pocket... I will not go back there with the new referral she got for the work needed.. only a bone shaving so she can get fitted for dentures..

Fantastic experience: I had a great experience with Dr Allison and her staff. I recommend her office to anyone who is looking for or needs Dental care.

Negative experience: The front desk staff is rude and inappropriate. I was supposed to be scheduled for an appointment to have a crown placed. However, the office didn't verify my insurance information and kept insisting I needed prior authorization, even though my insurance company confirmed that I didn't need one. I finally persuaded them to review my insurance policy, and then they agreed. When I tried to discuss this issue with them, they became defensive and rude, and did not attempt to accommodate me or apologize for making me show up without doing any work, even though they could have initiated the process.

Fantastic experience: I was in a great deal of pain and unable to enjoy food. Dr. Khaloo along with his wonderful staff took very good care of me. The good Dr. was able to save my badly cracked teeth and made me a guard stop further damage. I have no pain and can enjoy food again. Thank you Dr. Khaloo, Levi, and the entire staff.

Negative experience: Insisted I pay for my entire procedure out of pocket before I left the office promising they would submit a claim. 5 months later, insurance still has not received a claim. When I attempted to process the visit myself, it took days to return the Claims form with the doctor's signature and it was missing key information about billing codes. I sent requests to multiple @NYCDENT.com emails to ask for the missing info with no response. They just want to get paid. Don't expect them to help you with insurance for your visit, even if you have one.

Fantastic experience: Cared about my discomfort and pain. Brought me in right away. Always friendly. Having a drop dead beautiful dentist who is really good is nice! Very professional!
