Fantastic experience: I have been a patient of Nova Dental Partners (Old Town) for several years, and I can attest that they have consistently provided the highest quality dental care to me in every possible way. In the process of receiving regular cleanings and x-rays at the Old Town office, and also a dental implant through Dr. Maur at the King Street office, I have been listened to carefully and my health issues impacting dental care have always been taken into consideration thoroughly. There was a minor complication in healing from my implant procedure (caused by my body's abnormal rate of healing, as usual, and not from anything done by Dr. Maur), and Dr. Maur went out of her way to quickly fit me in to her office schedule at the last minute to make sure everything was OK. That is the kind of attention and effort I have not received at several other dental practices. I am very impressed by the level of care and service I have received from Nova Dental Partners, and I recommend the practice to you.

Negative experience: They conduct procedures without telling you that it’s an additional charge to the check-up then bill you for it knowing that it’s a procedure that isn’t covered by insurance. Additionally, they send invoices by mail only and the invoices look like they could be scam invoices. There’s no email, no confirmation. They just send an invoice by mail saying you’re 60 days late on payment that asks for your credit card info but doesn’t include a return envelope. Also the invoice doesn’t provide a due date. For the appt they conducted this procedure during, they confirmed me for the appointment at a different time than discussed on the phone when booking. Then they called me while I was on the way to the office to tell me I was late and made it sound like they were doing me a favor by seeing me. Only to sneak a procedure insurance doesn’t cover in. Never coming back here. Super predatory! And honestly, my mouth barely feels cleaner after a cleaning here.

Fantastic experience: I came here after a filling I had done at another dentist office popped out, and NoVa was able to fit me in same day. The dentist who replaced my filling was excellent - took great care to let me know exactly what she was doing before she did it (not my experience at the first place I went) and was as gentle as possible. I felt like the cleaning and explanation was very thorough and allowed me to understand what was happening with my teeth and best steps to take to prevent and care for my teeth. She was very attentive to answering any questions and I didn’t feel like I was being forced or pushed into buying things that are unnecessary as I felt from my last dental office. Fantastic experience: Needed an appointment asap for chipped tooth- staff was helpful, friendly, and the dentist did the best repair on my tooth! Insurance wouldn’t cover the “re- repair” of the bonding and they kept cost at minimum same cost as insurance. Lots of locations that are convenient. I am transferring my dental care here and also will be having them see my special needs adult daughter.

I am a patient with Dr.Leah Coutts and she is always very patient with my dental anxiety around shots, but Juan went above and beyond to help encourage me to get work I had been putting off completed while helping to manage my anxiety. He listened to me and took into account my medical history then gave me the best shot I'd ever received, basically painless! A million stars!

I was referred by a major dental surgeon to NOVA Dental for a partner procedure and was pleasantly surprised how extensive the practice is for surgery procedures and healthy dental after care. I am very happy with my quarterly cleanings and attention to detail regarding my teeth as I age for long term care, keeping my own teeth and maintaining a beautiful smile.

Fantastic experience: Upon retirement of my previous dentist (30+ years), I never imagined he could be replaced. Was I ever wrong! After being under Dr. Tavakkoli's care for complex issues for half a year now, I can confidently say that he is among my most caring, forthright, personable, and sure-handed doctors I've ever had. The practice is a large one, easily a place one could get lost in the shuffle, but not here. Despite the large staff buzzing all around, Dr. Tavakkoli and his partners have managed to assemble and maintain a highly professional team that operates with the same high ideals as himself. Negative experience: UPDATE: Dr. Kamran called me personally to discuss this issue. He subsequently had his team resolve the matter and they issued our refund immediately. We receive excellent dental services from this practice so I look forward to also having the same level of service from the office / billing staff going forward. I do not recommend this practice. The dentists and the hygienists are great but the front desk and billing department lack proper communication and transparency. My husband and I are on the same insurance plan. He recently went for a routine cleaning and a follow up visit for a couple of fillings. During the second visit, they charged him $435 as copay for the fillings. I called the insurance to verify the required copay and learned that his copay should have been only $90. After crunching the numbers with the insurance company, we learned that Nova Dental Partners charged my husband $177 for the routine cleaning, which is covered at 100% by the insurance. They also charged him $168 more than his $90 copay. Basically, they didn’t want to wait for the insurance payment, which only took a couple of weeks to process. The insurance confirmed that they sent full payment to Nova Dental for the cleaning and fillings, and confirmed that Nova Dental cashed the checks. I called Nova Dental partners and asked the double payment and inquired about our refund. They said that their billing department is still processing and they would call us if there is a refund to be issued. Weeks later, we received no such call. We called again, still no eta on when we would receive a refund check. We then went to office and they told us they are holding our money as credit for future visits. We expressed that we would prefer a mailed check, as previously requested. We spoke to the office manager - she wasn’t helpful. Now we’re stuck with no refund. This business has taken the liberty to hold our money as credit and refuse to refund us for the excessive charges. It seems we can’t get through to anyone. I’ve been coming here for over 10 years and it seems things are not the way they used to be.

I was really prone to cavities and haven’t had a cavity going on 10 years now. You can tell Dr. Kamran Tavakkoli really cares about his patients and loves what he does. He has put together a great dental plan for me. The front staff is excellent as well. Regina helped my understanding of my bill and health insurance coverage with patience and attention to detail before I made a decision to move forward with Invisalign this fall. She went the extra mile by calling my insurance company to help me. She exudes kindness and grace.

Fantastic experience: Became a patient at Nova Dental Partners by sheer accident over 10 years ago when a colleague intended to refer me to his dentist at a different "Nova Dental" practice in northern VA (apparently, there was a slight variant on the practice name). This was somewhat of a dilemma as my colleague really wanted me to become a patient at his dental office. Nevertheless, I was off to an excellent start with my dental treatment plan under Dr. Kambiz, so I decided to stay! When I moved, a staff member suggested that I see Dr. Kamran at their Old Town location as the location was more convenient. Admittedly, I avoided changing offices for some time because I wanted to continue my dental care with Dr. Kambiz—I was very reluctant to change dentist. It has been several years now, and I’ve had great experiences with Dr. Kamran—from general cleanings, to Invisalign, and onlays. I also appreciate that Drs. Tavakkoli's staff upholds ethical billing practices and appropriately resolves any fee concerns. Highly recommend Drs. Tavakkoli at Nova Dental Partners!!

Fantastic experience: I have been coming to this dentist since second grade (I am now 35) and have to date received spectacular service. Every need that I have is addressed and promptly taken care of. No service is rushed. I recently decided to go through with chairside veneers and Dr. Tavakkoli was very thorough and patient when explaining the procedure and answering all of the questions. I will always recommend this dentistry as I have and will continue to trust them with my dental health and needs!
