Fantastic experience: I had a first appointment because they take Medicare Advantage. The hygienist was very thorough and gave excellent suggestions for my care. I also briefly met the Dentist, Dr. Painter and he was very warm and engaging and very professional. I am glad that I can continue to receive the individualized care that I need.

Fantastic experience: The family friendly atmosphere of the office is a breath of fresh air in the frenzy of dollar driven life today. Each member of the staff makes a point of engaging me as a person not just a number which is important in a people centered business. Fear of the dentist office dissipates from the moment of the first welcoming smile. I can’t say enough about Dr Brian’s chair side manner which sets me at ease from the moment he invites me to sit in the chair. He, like all the staff, pays special attention to facts unique to me : my morning drive, my travel experiences and most importantly, my grandchildren. This practice is quite the contrast to any previous dental experiences. My highest recommendation. Thank you.

Fantastic experience: We just moved into the area and changed dentists. The technology here is far superior to where we came from. The biggest difference was that instead of going to the dentist, it felt like visiting friends that happened to be in the dental field. They took the time to talk and interact and made sure their goals aligned with mine. I didn’t feel rushed at all. I actually enjoyed going to the dentist!!

Fantastic experience: I love your customer service from start to finish. I had my teeth cleaned and I told them about something that was bothering me with one of my teeth. There was some leftover glue that got missed from a previous filling on my tooth. When I mentioned it the Dentist he took a look at it and said yes I will fix that immediately and so he ground it down and now it doesn’t bother me any more. Thanks to customer service like that I will continue to go there. I have been going there for 5 years now and I would never think about going to someone else. Both are welcome—but only one knows where to find the best shrimp and grits blindfolded. The characters in this show? They’re either one or the other. Now let’s be real. Dental visits are basically a polite invasion. You sit back while a team of professionals sticks tools in your mouth, sprays water, vacuums it back out, drills, grinds, and then grinds some more. Then they swipe your card and schedule your next appointment like you just signed up for a spa day. I always walk out thinking, “Wait… I paid them to do this?” Let’s not pretend this is anyone’s idea of a good time. But hold onto your hat and pour yourself a bourbon, because our first “Comeyah,” Dr. Ruiz, and his crew at Point Hope Dental flip the script. After 24 years of military dental clinics and a decade of post-retirement provider roulette, I finally found my dentist. Dr. Ruiz is approachable, calm, and sneaks in just enough humor to make you forget someone’s elbow is halfway down your throat. The man rocks. Hopefully he likes us as much as we like him—because we’re not letting him go without a fight. Now let’s talk about our next two “Benyahs,” Kessa and Nia—his assistants and certified dental dynamos. Don’t let their sweet Southern charm fool you. These ladies are sharp, serious about their craft, and make the whole experience feel like you’re in good hands… even if those hands are holding a drill. I’m almost certain their collards and gizzards charmed love right into their lives. From the moment you walk in—whether it’s for a cleaning, a procedure, or just to ask if flossing really matters (spoiler: it does)—you’re greeted by our next two “Comeyahs,” Katie’s warm welcome and Yaya’s witty banter. It’s like walking into a championship locker room—everyone’s got a role, and they play it like pros. And then there’s our final “Comeyah,” Elizabeth, the hygienist who deserves her own medal. She single-handedly got me to quit Mtn Dew. That’s right—after years of 2–3 cans a day, she looked me dead in the eye and said, “This stuff is wrecking your teeth. We’re bumping your cleanings to every four months.” I quit cold turkey. Six months later, she pokes around, pauses, and says, “What are you doing different?” I told her I stopped doing the Dew. She was floored. Said it was one of the easiest cleanings she’s ever done. Elizabeth, you’re a legend. This team doesn’t just clean teeth—they build trust, treat you like family, and somehow make dentistry feel like a downtown Charleston summer soire with gin infused lemonade and trendy Charleston attire with better lighting and scrubs. Fantastic experience: If I could give a rating of more than five stars, I absolutely would (and I tend to be a tough critic.) Case-in-Point: Dr. Brian Ruiz and his amazing dental assistant, Kessa, have rescued me in TWO separate dental emergencies over the past year- no questions asked! In fact, one of the emergencies happened during a gum graft surgery that I had with a completely different doctor and practice, who later told me they could not fix the mistake they made . I drove straight to Point Hope Dental, praying the entire ride that they may be able to help me. Although heavily booked that day, Dr. Brian and the team worked me in and fixed the issue in less than an hour! Another well-deserved recognition goes to YeYe, who is an incredible business manager and has always been a warm, personable, kind, and highly knowledgeable support to me and my family ever since our first visit over 3 years ago. Before moving to CHS, the dental practice I used had all the “bells and whistles”… it was very “shiny” (for lack of a better term), but I can tell you with 100% confidence that I never experienced the level of genuine care and compassion that I experience with every appointment (and emergency alike) that I do with the Point Hope Dental Team. You have my business and trust for as long as you’ll have me !

Fantastic experience: I’m an adult who hates going to the dentist and always dreads it. I didn’t have the best dental experiences as a child and that combined with anxiety makes it hard for me. Patricia, my dental hygienist was so kind and so very, very patient. She made me very comfortable and took her time. Thankful to have found a great place that’s so close to home as well!

Fantastic experience: I had not been to the dentist since before Covid and I honestly was terrified before my first visit but the staff made me feel so welcomed and did not shame me for any of the dental issues that I had due to my years without cleanings. Every visit since I have felt more and more friendly with the staff. They remember the little things and really take care of their patients so I will continue to come back to point hope!!

Positive experience: My first visit went well- easy online booking with lots of availability, friendly staff and a thorough hygienist. However, my 6 month check-in was disappointing. I had to reschedule and the earliest they could get me in was 2.5 months later, despite many new patient slots showing online. The day of the appt they called to say the dentist I was scheduled with was unavailable but I could still be seen if I came in earlier- after the cleaning I was told I wouldn't be seen by a dentist and I'd be checked at my next appointment. It's my fault for assuming they still had more than one dentist (I saw someone different last time) but I think they should have clarified this when they called asking me to come in earlier. Feels like returning patients aren't prioritized.

Fantastic experience: Friendly, prompt, plus no fluff answers to any questions. Appt time 10 am and I go back at 10am not 10:15 - 10:30 like most places. Just a good experience despite my tooth pain…but that was solved quickly.

I usually have a lot of anxiety about going to the dentist, but they made the entire experience so much easier. I had to get a filling, and they were both incredibly kind, patient, and reassuring throughout the whole process. Dr. Fullenkamp explained everything clearly and made sure I was comfortable the entire time, and Jasmine was so friendly and supportive as well. They truly went above and beyond to make me feel at ease. If you have any dental anxiety, I highly recommend them, they were such an amazing team!

She identified a problem I had with a tooth and got Dr. Ruiz to confirm and take care of it for me the very next day. Negative experience: Understand that they were understaffed at my appointment, but would’ve rather have just been cancelled all together before having to go back for a cleaning after already spending an hour…. Just felt like poor planning and like I wasted my time would’ve been better to just cancel my appointment before I showed up.

Fantastic experience: I very rarely leave reviews for care or medical , however, this is one business that is most deserving of one! ☝️ I saw Rhiannon she is who take care of me and his team for dental work this week before thanksgiving , well I saw her before cause I am doing my Invisalign braces and this was by far the best experience | have had at a dentist despite how much work was needed to be done. very personable and professional. My doctor explains everything clearly, She is also very compassionate. You can tell she really cares for her patients and how they are feeling during the entire procedure. I am stock with her for a year so , so far is good as I expect. Right from the moment I walked into the clinic, everyone that I interacted with was amazing I will definitely enjoy every appt , and referring everyone I know to this place!

Fantastic experience: I have never taken very good care of my teeth and gums, and I've always hated going to the dentist because of that. Not anymore. The dentist and staff at Point Hope are amazing. They take the time to explain what's good and bad about your teeth and what you need to maintain healthy habits. My teeth and gums have never been better. I now look forward to my dentist appointments. I will never go to another dentist. I drive nearly 2 hours to get here. That's how good this place is.

Negative experience: The insurance processor mislead me telling me they took tricare dental and they are in network when they are in fact not. Will not come back. Hygienist was great but shady business practices for military members.

Fantastic experience: EDIT 4/30/24: Just wanted to add that I have probably learned more about dental hygiene from hygienist Patricia in the last couple years than I did in years of visits elsewhere. This has likely saved me pain and $. --- Good attention to detail. I had some mild pain in a tooth that persisted for a couple months, so I finally decided to get it checked out. Dr. Painter and staff ran some tests and took x-rays but the results weren't conclusive. But after I spoke with them some more they decided to try one more x-ray, which showed an infection at the root of my tooth. Dr. Painter referred me to an endodontist and I was able to get a root canal there the next day.

Elizabeth was a great hygienist who took time to go over my dental health and come up for a great plan to keep me on track. I unfortunately had a cavity and they were able to get it fixed the same day!! Dr Painter is awesome & was great at explaining all procedures and reasoning behind the work. I highly recommend!!!
