Negative experience: The prices they quoted turned out to be different when it came time to pay after everything was done. They got me insurance and said the price would be cut in half, but it didn't work at all. I don't trust them anymore.

Negative experience: I went to Preston because my Dentist didn’t take my insurance anymore, All I could say is unexperienced hygienist. I came As a new patient. I never heard of a Dentist buffing your teeth before they’re clean and then tell me I need deep cleaning in 40 years never needed that done it’s a money maker. I told him I just wanted my teeth cleaned. The unexperienced hygienist that was poking and measuring. My teeth were the worst ever I walked out and will never return.!! Beware that’s all I could say!! I have TMJ The hygienist had no clue how to work with patient with TMJ. They didn’t even clean my teeth, and my gums are sore from unexperienced hygienist

Fantastic experience: Friendly and very professional. In 20 plus years I have never had a problem after an appointment. My last appoint was great. I thought I may have had a major problem with an abscess but Dr. GREG looked and just grinded some high spots off of my bite and I feel good again and no pain. 2/8/22- just finished my last invisalign appointment and am finished with teeth straightening. Dr Greg and team did a great job. My bottom teeth came out way better than I thought possible. Dr Greg also had me continue my top teeth to correct one stubborn tooth from straightening out. It also looks great now. I am always pleased after the work done and have never had a problem in over 25 years or so. 1/27/26.. due to the snow and ice my appt was canceled. But within seconds they had another one a little later in the day which worked out great. Lorna did my cleaning quickly and efficiently and this got me on my way again wo having to go to a day later in the week. They did a great job!

Fantastic experience: Lara did an amazing job as my dental hygienist. She was kind, patient, and extremely careful during the cleaning, which made me feel at ease. Dr. Isaac took the time to explain my treatment and handled everything with great care and professionalism. I’m very grateful for their excellent and compassionate care.

Negative experience: Please don’t rush through someone’s appointment. I came in and at first wasn’t able to get a cleaning so planned to reschedule (no big issue with that). But then they told me that they do have some time for me. Unfortunately, I didn’t know they were only trying to squeeze me in between appointments. The sweet hygienist lady FLEW through the cleaning so fast and was working so aggressively that the nerves in my teeth were ringing and my gums were throbbing well after the appointment. I hear this is a great place to go for your dental needs, but please just don’t rush through the cleanings !! Disclaimer: the doctor & the hygienist both said that my teeth were very healthy and I was doing a great job brushing, so my teeth pain was not a result of bad tooth care.

He is honest, compassionate, has extensive knowledge, and educates you on your treatment and preventative care. He goes above and beyond in his treatment of his patients. I remember my daughter having a dental issue on a Sunday. Dr. Greg and Dr. Lisa didn't hesitate to come and meet us at the office. My daughters wherever they move and whatever state they live in still rely on Dr. Greg for a dental referral. Last, but not least my hygienist, Lorna, words cant express how grateful I am to her for the quality care she gives me each and every visit. Negative experience: The staff and dentist I think were great. I made appointments for the rest of my family. However I did not know until after my appointment that they were not in network and I needed to pay in full for the services and be reimbursed by my insurance. They filed the insurance and they got the insurance reimbursement and never said anything. On a follow up appointment I asked about it and they said the insurance would send the check to me but then said oh no we got the check. They could not give me the money apparently because it has to go through billing. So several calls, several hours of time, several people passing the buck onto a different department they never reimbursed me. I had appointments for other family members I had to cancel because I’m not going through that repeatedly and who can afford hundreds of dollars for a cleaning for several family members knowing you’ll never be reimbursed. I also feel they should have informed me that the free cleaning my insurance provides would be over 600 dollars the day of and immediately contacted me to let me know they got the check in error and would be sending me one right away.

Fantastic experience: Had my first appointment at Preston Dental Center and the whole experience was great. The entire staff was super friendly, attentive, and made me feel comfortable from the moment I walked in. Logan at the front desk was warm and welcoming, Lorna (my hygienist) was incredibly kind, patient, and really cared about how I was doing throughout, and Desiree at checkout was awesome to work with. Dr. Edwards was amazing—super knowledgeable, easy to talk to, and took his time answering all my questions. He made sure I fully understood the treatment plan and didn’t make me feel rushed at all, which you don’t always get with dentists. I’m glad I chose this place for my care!

Negative experience: I scheduled a new patient appointment because after reviewing the website I was excited about the possibility of same day crowns. The experience was less than great. Giving one star for the receptionist who when I was leaving used my name when saying "have a good day", she was very friendly. The lobby only had one other patient, seemed slow for a Monday afternoon. I did wait in the lobby for about 30 minutes though. Kylie the dental hygienist was also nice and did the best she could with the circumstance. Without giving all the detail the whole process took almost 2.5 hours, with a lot of waiting and maybe 5 minutes with Dr. Edwards. I was told same day crowns were not an option for me, which is fine I just wanted to make sure. The estimate for exorbitant amount of work that "needed" to be done was $27k. I ended up making up an excuse saying I had to leave for another appointment because if I didn't I feared I would be there at least another hour. They told me they would email me the estimate of work, and call to schedule a follow up appointment. It is now four days later and I have not heard from them. Really disappointing experience.

Fantastic experience: I have been a patient with Preston Dental Center for many years and they are wonderful to work with! I have dental anxiety and I have always been met with kindness and understanding. They have a mix of new technology but great customer service as well. Dr. Ike, Dr. Greg, and the whole dental staff make sure you're comfortable and also well taken care of. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a new dentist in the area!

Fantastic experience: I have always been a nervous dental patient. Dr. Ike and his team have been patient, kind, efficient and overall wonderful since I switched to their practice. I make the extra drive from Raleigh because they are worth it!

Negative experience: Update 4: Further reviewing past records - it appears this office may have been coding some periodic dental cleanings (D1110) as major gingival work (D4346) (among others) and improperly charging accordingly, besides incorrectly estimating costs and insurance coverage before procedures. Do not trust them. Previous patients - strongly recommend looking into your bills and charges here. To the office: you have my contact info, you are free to reach out directly. My last visit for a cleaning I called in beforehand for an estimate due to change in my insurance. The morning of the appointment the representative I reached said periodic cleaning would be fully covered under my new insurance (with manual reimbursement due to being out of network). I am now once again stuck with a bill for $289 due to your false estimate (yes they shook me down for $498 *after* the appointment they had informed me would be covered, insurance finally sending a check for $209). You already know about your previous billing issues we had to resolve from last year. —- Update 3: The doctor is great. Billing cannot be trusted. Does not quote or estimate prices (or says visit is fully covered by insurance) before appointment and then requires full payment (over what is authorized by insurance) after visits. —- Update 2, after my insurance has updated me: I called prior to my last regular/6-month cleaning appointment, and was told by Preston Dental it would be fully covered by Delta Dental. After the appointment I was then told by Preston in-office I now owed $500 immediately before leaving (though they would submit the claim to my insurance). Insurance only covers $209. This is ridiculous, and has continued a pattern where they have consistently quoted hundred possibly thousands less than I've actually paid over the last two years for treatment. There is no excuse - they claim issues with their billing systems or answering service, but it is a consistent pattern that has not changed. Update: I have discussed this issue many times over the course of 2 years of treatment from Preston Dental. I do not write this review lightly. If the office has comment, they can call me directly and update their response to this review. The review is factual and stands after 2 years of billing and insurance issues, and no/inaccurate quotes leaving me with the bill afterwards. Constant billing and insurance issues - claiming things will be reimbursed by insurance but aren't, billing both at the appointment and balance billing, and making duplicate accounts telling me balances are paid off when calling in/emailing while simultaneously sending past due notices. Do not trust anything they say over the phone - my insurance recently changed and they lied about coverage. They claim issues with their "answering service" but this has been a repeated issue and they have not changed who they use, they also blamed the issues on now being owned/run by Heartland Dental. Their work is good, but don't trust their billing, payment, or insurance. They will give you wrong quotes, double charge, and charge excessively compared to other dentists in the area.

Fantastic experience: I am afraid of going to the dentist. This started when I had poor dental care as a child. The dentists at Preston are kind and calm. Now, I can get through a dental procedure with minor anxiety.

Fantastic experience: New patient here! My first visit went absolutely amazing. The office is very nice and comfortable. State of the art equipment including being the #1 provider of Invisalign. My treatment was explained in a way that made sense. Needless to say, I have found MY dentist.

Fantastic experience: My first visit was this week and I had a really good experience. I was confirmed for the appointment within a week and had a couple procedures including a x-rays, cleaning a very thorough exam, a crown and a filling. Not one second of pain and made it to work less than 2 hours late. Only painful part was the payment but that was a fair rate for the services. Wanted to use that insurance before year end. DSS Ike was terrific as was Miss B. Thank you Preston Dental!

The culture there is amazing, from receptionist to hygienist to accounting, so courteous and helpful and to be consistent for so many years says something about the culture they have. Negative experience: Horrible treatment of black people. It's 2024.. The owner and his pregnant assistant didn't treat me well at all. The frist desk people are gossip girls except for the office manager that left. This dentist yells at his assistants about instruments, in front of patients. Disgusting. The owners wife is wonderful. I will be filling a report with HR at heartland about how me and my husband was treated.

One would be hard-pressed to find any better dental practice than this one.  I have had the very good fortune to have used the services of both Drs. Greg and Lisa Mayes for over 25 years - and I could not be more pleased.  In addition to their own significant talents and abilities, they seem to have an uncanny knack for gathering and maintaining an excellent support staff and technicians.  Their office is always a pleasure to visit.  Like most, I can't say that I ever truly look forward to a visit to any dentist, but with the Mayes' practice I can always count that it will be as pleasurable experience as possible and the results will be impeccable.

Fantastic experience: My family of 5 has been seeing Dr's Lisa and Greg for 25+ years. Yes they are a little pricier than others as you are responsible for charges above the U&P rates, but we've had such good care we kept with them all of this time. Also great they can mill crowns on-the-fly so that kind of work can be a single visit. Insurance handling can get dicey so you really have to really check on things, but that would be true I think anywhere. I highly recommended this office.

Their entire staff is friendly and professional. I no longer live in Cary but still make the drive to see them. Their facility is kept immaculately clean and their state of the art equipment and technology provide you with the best possible dental care. If you require the services of an Oral Surgeon, Endodontist or Periodontist they are ready with excellent referrals. Emergency care is also available if needed. I hope they never retire because I can’t imagine going anywhere else!

I have been coming to this dentist office for over 20 years and I can’t say anything negative about the work that has been done by Dr. Mayes & Mayes. They have been a blessing to my wife and I. Fantastic experience: Drs Greg and Lisa are the nicest, most caring dentists. I’ve been having routine and specialty dental work done by Preston Dental for 3 years. This most recent visit was for an emergency repair to a chipped tooth. They not only fit me in during their busy COVID slow reopening, but they took the utmost care to ensure I felt Safe about coming in. I cannot recommend Preston Dental highly enough. Fabulous, professional staff and a gorgeous office with state of the art equipment to boot!

Fantastic experience: Dr. Ike and his team are amazing! My new smile is a dream come true! Dr. Ike has recommended me Invisalign, the alternative teeth straightening treatment to braces, and four dental veneers to correct my upper teeth. Fantastic experience: I am so grateful to Dr. Lisa and her team at Preston Dental. I needed emergency treatment after a fall; we called from the car and they had a chair waiting for me when we arrived 15 minutes later. After a few quick X-rays, Dr. Lisa was able to numb the area, reset my tooth and wire it in place. I am so grateful for her skill and expertise, her caring and composure, and the high quality of their equipment. And I'm thankful that my regular hygienist, Lara, came back to check on me several times during the procedure - it meant the world to me. The fall and resulting injury was quite traumatic, but everyone at Preston Dental made me feel safe and cared for. I know that I will get my old smile back with Preston Dental at my side.

Fantastic experience: I have been going to Preston Dental Center for over 3 years now. Dr Greg and my hygienist, Lorna, are fantastic. Friendly, thorough, very knowledgeable and professional. Their front desk staff is equally excellent. There are certainly less expensive offices out there, but the expertise and care here are top notch. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: I went to Preston Dental Center for over a decade and then allowed my hubby to convince me to switch to his (less expensive) dentist. After a year- and some disappointments- I followed my gut (and gums) back to Preston. Smartest thing I've done and so happy to be back in their compassionate and competent hands. While I usually dodge addled adages, like "you get what you pay for", the happy exception in this case is that, at Preston, you get MORE ( 8 ) Many many thanks to Dr.s Lisa& Greg, and their remarkable team.

Fantastic experience: I think I have been going to Dr. Greg and Dr. Lisa since I was in high school, about 24/25 years. I will never stop using them. They are so patient and kind! They remember everything I tell them from appointment to appointment. I hate going to the dentist and Dr. Greg gives so much care and tender touches on my teeth and gums. Yesterday I went to Dr. Greg and they did a phenomenal job on my periodontal cleaning. They actually numbed my entire mouth and thus I had very little pain. Since my mouth was already numb, Dr. Greg found two cavities and he fit me in so that I wouldn’t have to get numb again or pay for more numbing shots. Lastly, I had an accident in 2019. My first four front teeth were damaged beyond repair. Dr. Greg is such a perfectionist! We replaced my teeth with two implants and a bridge. It’s very difficult to fit a mouth with 4 missing teeth…especially in the front. You cannot tell at all the difference between my fake and real teeth. I love Dr. Greg and he changed my life. If you switch to Preston Dental Center, you will not be disappointed!

Fantastic experience: Excellent staff and service. I’ve been coming here since 2005. To be honest, it’s hard to find a dentist, where you feel like you’re a person, not a number. Very personalized care from the time you walk in the door. Wouldn’t trust my anyone else with my smile!

Fantastic experience: I went to Preston Dental Center for braces and I was so relieved with how easy the process was. I am an older woman so I was afraid it was too late for me to get braces, but the staff was so professional and reassuring that it wasn’t too late for me. I also go to Preston for cleaning and they give the best advice for how to maintain teeth and gum health. Preston Dental Center is the best! The staff really cares about you and your teeth. I highly recommend.
