Fantastic experience: Went in for a teeth cleaning with Julie today, she did an outstanding cleaning as she always does. She really is very interesting to talk to, her knowledge about history and National parks are awesome. Dr. Grube performed his exam, and he really takes the time to explain everything to you about the exam. He tells you exactly the way it is holds nothing back which I like. Charisse at the front office is always there to greet you with a warm smile, she is really helpful with any issues that may arise with insurance coverages. The entire office staff are truly very professional, don't just take my word for it go in and experience what you would expect from a staff that really care and not just out to take your money. I don't give out Attaboys if they are not justified, I like to tell sea stories & Lynnhaven Mall stories when I was the Security Director for 15 years. They take the time to listen, and I feel I'm holding them up but they never make me feel like they are not interested. So if you are looking for a dentist office, that will honestly treat you like a family member! I recommend Dr. Grube & staff. Don't believe me a total stranger, drop in and give them a try you won't be sorry.

Fantastic experience: I called kinda short notice for a filling on my front tooth. I was scheduled for 3 days later. Took about 15 min to fix my tooth. Looks exactly like it’s suppose to! Beautiful. Update: after a strictly followed comprehensive plan; I’m still more than happy with the level of care I’ve received. All of teeth are fixed and feel like a brand new mouth. And they have done stellar job with routine maintenance. They’ve managed to change my entire disposition of dentists. Highly recommended. Very few needles and less than a check pinch of pain. Always really pleasant, clean staff with great bed side manner.

Fantastic experience: I was a patient of Gentle Family Dentistry under Dr. Denbar for over 20 years because of his personal attention to my concerns, his down-to-earth manner and professionalism. Since assuming the practice 2 years ago, Dr. Grube has demonstrated those same characteristics I have come to expect. Most of the office staff has been with the practice long term and my interactions usually feel more like a family meeting than a business encounter. Highly recommended. June 2023 update - I was able to get a next day appointment for an out-of-the-blue painful tooth. Fortunately, the issue was less concering that I thought, and was resolved during the appointment. My concerns were met with friendly and professional service. January 2025 - A routine Checkup & Cleaning, found 2 cavities. Dr. Grube answered all my questions and estimated a 45 min appointment to repair. I was able to get same week appointment and was sitting in the chair for only 20 minutes with minimal discomfort. Very efficient professional services by Dr. Grube and staff. July 2025 - 6 month checkup found 1 cavity. I was able to schedule Next day and the procedure only took 15 min. Dr. Grube & all the staff continue to show friendliness is compatible with professional services.

Fantastic experience: I have extreme anxiety when it comes to visiting the dentist. I’ve been to Gentle family dentistry a couple times now and both times have been heaven. The staff is absolutely amazing and makes me feel so comfortable.

Positive experience: So far, so good. I needed to see a dentist quick and so I used Opencare on the internet and answered a few questions. It lead me to Dr. Grube in Chesapeake. The next day Kristen, the Receptionist, called to schedule me in. I quickly called her back and spoke to the Treatment Coordinator/Office Manager Challice. Between the two of them they were able to schedule me in for a consultation in two hours! Both were very helpful and worked well together as I would later see that morning. As I arrived I was greeted warmly and filled out their paperwork. As soon as I was done, they took me back with the technician that does the x-rays. I wish I could remember her name but I am hard of hearing and partially deaf. I also was extremely nervous in which, we will call her Gwen, the technician did a wonderful job moving around inside my painful mouth taking the x-rays. After completing the x-rays and Dr. Grube evaluating me, I was given my diagnosis. Although I was not happy with the results of my x-rays, in no way a reflection on them; I really felt heard by Dr. Grube’s prognosis. He was extremely gentle, attentive, and knowledgeable about what was going on in my mouth.The technician, Gwen, I suppose a dental assistant, made sure I heard every word! Finally, I was taken back up to the front of the office aside in a private nook to talk with Challice about my treatment plan. I appreciated the privacy and the complete sincerity in their wanting to help me start scheduling the work to be done. She was extremely responsive to my questions and helpful in prioritizing the work to be done. She also was efficient in scheduling the work I needed to be done by the specialists they were referring me to as well. I would definitely recommend this practice. It was clean, well organized, and all of the staff were very friendly. I am looking forward to going back and starting to address the issues that need to be resolved. I feel comfortable with Dr. Grube and his staff and have put my trust in them after having had very bad previous dental experiences at other practices.

Fantastic experience: Last minute emergency visit to check out a bridge where the front tooth was hurting intermittently. Dr Grube quickly discerned the front portion of the bridge was making contact prior yo the rest of the bridge. He made a quick adjustment to that portion of the crown and a day later I’m better. I appreciate him fitting me in on a day he had a full schedule.

Fantastic experience: My Wife choose this new dentist after growing tired of the rude service we received at hanbury dental. The receptionist was friendly and the hygienist was professional and personable. The entire time I was in the chair the staff engaged with my 4 year old son who was waiting patiently for me to finish. The dentist didn't make me feel rushed and he explained his recommendations without being pushy or attempting to sell me on cosmetic options that were unnecessary. His willingness to take time to answer questions and ensure I was aware of all of my options was refreshing considering the service we'd received elsewhere. It's nice to know that we found our new family dentist and I couldnt be happier with out choice. It's nice to think that I'm actually looking forward to my next visit. I will not hesitate to recommend this location to anyone looking for a superior dental experience.

Fantastic experience: Just started coming here after leaving Konikoff. Everyone here is super friendly! They’re all great with kids. We have two boys (2yrs and 4yrs) and the first thing they did was to get them comfortable with the environment of being at the dentist so they won’t get scared. They showed their tools, what they’re used for and explained why dental hygiene is important. They even gave them a couple of little toys in their “gift bag”. Their receptionist gets back to you quickly and sends plenty of reminders so you don’t forget. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: At age 60, I was apprehensive about finding a new dentist. My first encounter was with Shannon and her customer service skills are impeccable. Once I arrived, Gwen was my assistant and she had such a warm friendly disposition. We laughed and talked about spoiling our grandkids. Then for the BIG finale, Dr. Gruber- his presence is so calming and welcoming. He was gentle and compassionate and very thorough in the treatment plan going forward. His bedside manner was phenomenal! I have a fear of dentist but Dr. Gruber has taken that away. I’m going to spread the word throughout my church, family & community! He’s the MAN!!!

Fantastic experience: I was referred to Dr. Grube by a coworker. She boasted on what a great Dentist he is. I had my initial routine visit a couple days ago. My coworker was correct. The office is clean and modern, my wait was very short. Julie did my xrays, cleaning etc., she was great, thorough, informative, friendly and professional. Dr. Grube came in and was very personable, and explained things nicely and answered all of my questions and he took his time and wasn’t rushing to get me out. On my way out I saw Chalice, she gave me a very easy to understand invoice with my cost share after insurance and explained it to me clearly. My total experience was great. I left feeling 100% satisfied with my visit. I will go back this month to get an old filling replaced. It’s a wonderful thing when you enjoy visiting your Dentist office.

Just had a dental cleaning yesterday ( very thorough Julie, thanks!). Again, I cannot say enough to express how satisfied my husband and I are with Dr. Grube and his staff. Fantastic experience: It feels like a family. Dr Grube (and his staff) are compassionate and considerate and he's an excellent dentist. I followed Dr Grube to his new Chesapeake location from his first practice in Virginia Beach. It's a much longer drive, but worth the time (and the toll) to be treated as a friend instead of just an income source. No extraneous up charges or unnecessary treatments. Dr Grube clearly and patiently defines the options for any procedures and I am part of the decision. He's an attentive congenial listener and very easy to talk to about any of my dental concerns. I have a muscular disease that makes it impossible to rise from a chair. Dr Grube even ordered a bolster for his waiting room chairs so that I can wait without standing. And staff always makes sure that I have a pillow for my neck during procedures to accommodate my lack of neck flexibility. Every visit is thoroughly pleasant and comfortable.

Fantastic experience: I had an excellent experience at gentle family dentistry. I had had severe tooth pain. I called them on a Monday.they brought me in on a Tuesday the next day and the team took care of everything above and beyond my expectations. I think them at least 50 times while I was there everyone was wonderful. I was truly happy and have recommend them to everyone I know as soon as I got home from my dentist appointment. Thank you, gentle family dentistry team you guys are awesome.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Grube and his team are wonderful! His practice focuses on the individual patient unlike many dental practices today that make patients feel like they are on an "assembly line." It reminded me of the type of dental practice I grew up with. They explained my procedures well and answered all of my questions. I'm glad I found them!

Fantastic experience: I am extremely happy with the care I receive at Gentle Family Dentistry. Dr. Grube and all of his staff are very kind, caring, friendly and so good with anxious patients! While I don’t know if my anxiety will ever completely go away, I do feel very safe and well cared for here.

Fantastic experience: My wife has been going here since she was a kid (and it was Dr Denbar), our kids have gone here since they've had teeth, and after years of neglecting my own teeth I am also a patient here, and Dr Grube and his staff (the newer ones as well as those that remained after Dr. Denbar retired) are top-notch. I live in Currituck, but we drive past several other dental offices to get to Gentle Family Dentistry, and we see no reason to change that. July 2024, still happy.
