Fantastic experience: PERFECT FOR AUTISTIC CHILDREN!! ABSOLUTELY BLOWN AWAY I really want to share this incredible experience we had at Tidal Smiles. My son is Autistic and does NOT allow anyone but me or his father near his mouth and it's very common for Autistic children to require sedation for dental exams/cleanings. This dentistry prioritizes calm and connection over exams. The staff spent time with my son for about 15 min...just playing with him and showing him everything before we even got started. They also scheduled "Happy Visits" for him. These are free visits for children with special needs so they can be more familiar with the office and they literally just come and play with the staff for a little bit. How amazing is that?! Their support and understanding for Autistic children helps prevent the need for sedation by making the experience fun and relaxed. Beyond grateful to find this place

Fantastic experience: They were super professional and friendly. We came to them for a second opinion on my son getting caps on his teeth. They did his with no anesthesia while the other place told us he would have to be under sedation for it. I’ve never seen my son sit so well for the dentist. Definitely recommending this practice to everyone who has kids.

My son has ASD and can be very shy along with sensory issues and they always help ensure he’s as comfortable as possible - the Chesapeake location even has a quieter room to help reduce the sensory input for those that need it. Highly recommend. I couldn’t imagine going anywhere else for my son

Positive experience: The staff here are very professional and truly kid friendly. I love this place for my child. I dont like their grace period. Most medical centers give you a 15 minute grace period I was 4 minutes away from the office and was told that I would have to reschedule, even though ive seen on more than 1 occasion a parent walks in late for their appointment without issue. 10 minutes seems unfair especially when you've NEVER been late for an appointment before

Fantastic experience: Hands down the best pediatric dentist we’ve been to! My child is autistic and often experiences sensory issues at the dentist. I notified the staff ahead of time of things that help, and they worked well with him, making reasonable accommodations (eg separate room without background music, less bright light for exam, letting him have extra spit breaks, letting him touch/feel equipment, explaining everything so no surprises, etc.). It went so well that my child is excited about his next appointment in six months and has made his siblings excited for their upcoming first appointments!

I brought my daughter for a second opinion for possible cavities needing treatment, and I’m so glad we did! My daughter was much more comfortable and calm with Dr. Pam. She is very conservative and thoroughly explained everything and answered all our questions. Also have to add that the office is beautiful! I grew up coming to this practice as a kid, and it was so fun to see it so nicely renovated - Especially love that they kept the classic boat in the lobby! Highly recommend! We are lucky to have them in Great Bridge!

Negative experience: My wife didn't have the best experience at your dental practice. She prides her wonderful meeting with the receptionist and dental assistants. However, she felt the doctor was not as welcoming to our son and seemed to not feel comfortable around our child. She felt like he was not fully understanding of his situation and hopes that in the future they have proper training with kids with special needs.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Luke Winter is always great! He has taken care of my 3 boys for many years. Parents are welcomed and made to feel at home. Very knowledgeable and highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: My little one had to have a few teeth extracted and I’m beyond impressed how everyone made her extremely comfortable. We had to switch insurance due to a job change which we were then out of network. Kara went above and beyond to reach out to the new insurance to make it possible for my little one to have her final appointment. I cannot recommend them enough and I’m beyond sad we had to switch insurance. Thank you Kara and everyone for everything!!

Fantastic experience: Had an emergency and they were able to see my son right away even though he had never been there before. Everyone was incredibly nice and helped us through a tough time. We will be using them for care from now on.

Fantastic experience: I've been bringing my 5 year old here for a few years and my child is very anxious about anything medically related. The staff here take the utmost care to make her comfortable. Every staff member is fantastic, but today we had Anna as our hygienist and my daughter was calmed by her funny and. Aring presence so quickly. She really took time and attention to not only complete my daughter's cleaning but to soothe her anxiety and make her feel at ease. The doctors are wonderful and I highly recommend this dental practice.

I especially love that I can go back with my kids while they get their treatments. They really know how to make the kids and parents feel comfortable which can be hard at a dentist office. Fantastic experience: We had to go here due to insurance issues with our current dentist and the treatment they wanted to do on her cavities. I also was looking for another dentist that would make my daughter feel more comforter. Shes an anxious girl when it comes to the dentist and Tidal Smiles didnt disappoint. They made my daughter feel so comfortable even when taking xrays. They even gave us a few different opptions for fixing her cavities that was way less invasive than the other dentists recommendation. Needless to say i decided right then and there to switch to them as my daughter's primary dentist.

I mean from the front desk to the drs they all carry the same care for not only the children but the parents too, which makes me feel at peace and confident my baby is being taken care of. Fantastic experience: Dr. Pam is so kind and she explained each process step by step beforehand. Her demeanor is very pleasant and she provides great service. My daughter left excited and she said she cannot wait to go back to the dentist.

Positive experience: When I called I asked if they accepted our insurance. I was told that a week before the appointment someone in billing pulls the insurance information and would let me know if I was not in network. They got me to confirm the appointment twice and then one business day before the appointment told me that I was not in network. This ended up coming up at his next pediatric checkup and the nurse seemed like she had heard something similar before. Actual visit was fine, everyone was nice, but I thought that was a little sketchy.

Fantastic experience: Tidal Smiles is by far the best in the area! We had literally went around in circles with multiple other dental practices trying to get our son who had an abscess tooth the care he so desperately needed and they went straight to helping us and getting him the care he needs and deserves. They truly care, are punctual, and respond quickly. This weekend the abscess flared while waiting for his upcoming procedure and they immediately got antibiotics on board, as well as multiple check ins between yesterday and first thing this morning from their staff. So appreciative of the care and concern this office has shown in such a short period of time. The prior practices basically brushed us off but not them. That’s why I know we are in good hands with Tidal Smiles! Thank you so very much Tidal Smiles, yall are our super heroes!

Fantastic experience: Absolutely amazing! Dr.Stephanie was so kind and great with my son who has autism and ADHD. I was blown away by the staff. Was referred there for my sons dental procedure so he could have anesthesia.

Positive experience: I’ve had a fairly pleasant experience with tidal smile till now, my dad recently passed away during the time I had an appointment due to the circumstance I cancelled appointments like any normal person would! Fast forward to today’s appointment my youngest got a belly bug and then my middle child woke up with one they expect you to bring your sick kid into the office I guess and then want to inconvenience you for being a responsible parent and not bring your contagious child around healthy children!!! When explaining why they want to be passive aggressive, if you have multiple children I would look somewhere else that is more understanding of life Circumstances! You would expect someone that spent 1,000’s of dollars and been using them for years to be a bit more understanding!

Fantastic experience: My 6yo som literally loves coming to that office! The staff and providers are super friendly, know how to make a child feel comfortable and relaxed. I was amazed by how quickly and efficiently they conducted exam, took X-rays and inserted a spacer. Dr Stephanie offered us a treatment option for small cavity that I did not even know existed - a cap that doesn’t involve any drilling or anesthesia. Staff takes their time to explain things about billing and answer any questions. All around great office and I highly recommend them to any family!

Fantastic experience: TLDR; 10/10! Our family is very grateful for the team at Tidal Smiles! From the front desk, to the hygienists & Dr. Winter, everyone was very friendly & welcoming. I had some car trouble RIGHT as we were leaving & they were quick & happy to work with us to reschedule our appointment for the very same day! We brought our 2 month old daughter in for a tongue tie release after meetings with our lactation consultant (shout out to Tidewater Lactation Group!) and felt very relieved & assured after a consultation with Dr. Winter. Even though we had already been going to an IBCLC & they recommended the procedure, Dr. Winter made it very clear that he was not going to pressure us to move forward, answered our questions & provided guidance on what exercises to do for her healing. It was a very quick procedure & I got to nurse her in a private room before we left. Dr. Winter even texted a few hours later to check in on how our daughter was doing & wished us luck on our EBF journey! The office is also very kid friendly & clean. I’m not sure it’s possible to find a more genuine, kind & happy team at any dentist/doctors office!

Fantastic experience: I wish I had found this place sooner. I've never been in a medical facility more child centered in my whole life. After seeing the hygienist there was a secondary waiting area with puzzles and fish tank where my toddlers got to wait for the doctor. No trying to force 2 toddlers to sit on a table or in chairs to wait. The staff was amazing and so incredibly helpful. My family had a few special circumstances that were accommodated. My expectations were not met, they were exceeded. I absolutely recommend Tidal Smiles for your peds needs!

Fantastic experience: My son and I love this dental practice! They're great with him. His former pediatric dentist would give him a cleaning and an exam, but if he needed any work done, we had to schedule ANOTHER appointment. I work, and he goes to school. That's not conducive to keeping good attendance. I recommend Tidal Smiles to everybody who asks about a good dentist for their children!

Tidal smiles has up to date technology where they used a laser to “numb the tooth nerve” and did not have to use injections for numbing. Made this a quick and painless process! She was quick and efficient & reached out at end of day to check on him. Couldn’t recommend her enough! Thank you again!

My kids LOVE going to the dentist! My son just had some cavities fixed and a few seals. They were amazing and he was never alarmed, stressed or in any real pain. They made him comfortable and use kid friendly language. Again, I cannot express enough how thankful I am for this practice. It’s been such a peaceful experience having my kids as patients here.

And help ease nervous parents minds too. The upfront billing is very nice to have so you can prepare for your upcoming visit. They communicate reminders for upcoming appointments which is very nice.

Fantastic experience: The best pediatric dentist in the area. Dr.Pam is our absolute favorite. Shes so great with my four kids, and their office had all four kids in and out in under an hour! I appreciate their more gentle approach to treatments and don’t get drill happy. Dr.Pam and her whole team is amazing!

Fantastic experience: Amazing!! Had a dental emergency for my 3 year old and my regular dentist referred us here. They got us in within 30 minutes of our primary dentist calling. Can’t say enough good things about them. Ease of scheduling, office design, and the people were everything you would hope for and more in a pediatric practice. Everyone was so patient and went over all of our options with us. My son ended up needing a tooth pulled and he walked out of there like nothing happened! They are not in network with our insurance but still helped file - absolutely worth every penny! If I could give more stars I would!!
