Fantastic experience: I went to Harwood Smiles for my first appointment Friday, February 27th (a coworker told me she goes there). I had a wonderful experience - everyone was professional and personable, knowledgeable, and very helpful!! While I was there, my general anxiety about going to the dentist left me - they helped me feel relaxed (I unfortunately had a bad experience at my previous dentist office). I have found my new dentist! I highly recommend Harwood Smiles!!

Negative experience: I was disappointed with my experience regarding transparency and patient education. I was quoted $35 for a prescription mouthwash and was told it was not covered by insurance. I specifically asked if that price included insurance, and the answer was no. The office continued to push me to purchase it directly from them. I asked for a written prescription so I could check pricing at my pharmacy using my health insurance prescription benefits. At the pharmacy, the exact same mouthwash cost me 8 cents. What was most frustrating is that I had to ask the insurance-related questions and advocate for myself. At no point was I educated on my options or informed that filling the prescription through a pharmacy could be significantly cheaper. It felt more like a sales push than patient-first care. I’m sharing this so others know to ask questions and explore their options before purchasing prescriptions directly from the office. Transparency and patient education should be part of quality care.

Negative experience: Update: the entire staff and dentist have been either let go or quit from my prior post. Not the same place. I went back to get a cleaning and won’t be coming back after rude comments from the dentist. Went for my first appointment and Harwood Smiles was awesome from the receptionist Vanessa, the assistant V, and Dr. Hills! They were extremely nice and explained everything going on. Also, they were upfront on pricing and very thorough. Look forward to going back for all of my dental needs!

Negative experience: I do not recommend this dentist. Came in for a simple deep cleaning and ended up having one of the worst dentist experiences i’ve ever had. During my cleaning she forced my mouth open when i have already stated that it was sore and in pain from the shots earlier, Mounika Akula did not care and continued to pry my mouth open which caused excruciating pain. Very unprofessional would not come back again!!!

Fantastic experience: I have been a patient at Harwood Smiles for over 2 years now. Dr. Lala is so knowledgeable, the assistants are patient and kind, and the ladies handling reception are warm and accommodating. I wouldn’t think of going anywhere else for my dental care. Thank you!!!

Negative experience: Edit: After a few treatments the doctor just disappeared and I had to go to their sister office. One of the treatments that the disappearing Dr did failed in less than a year and caused me to need a root canal. I’ve never had a treatment fail prior to this. The sister office was fine but not as kind and the wait times were atrocious. The staff is friendly and everyone takes their time to ensure that you know what is going on and what you are paying for. It's a pleasant environment in a pretty convenient location.

Negative experience: I came to this dental office for a cleaning and root canal and was scheduled to return for cavity fillings. I informed them early on that I work for the federal government and my insurance would be ending soon, so I needed to complete treatment before the end of May. After sharing this, I started to feel like I was being treated with suspicion. When the root canal was done, my insurance issued the reimbursement check to me directly. At the time of speaking with the office two days ago, I hadn’t received the check yet—but once I did, I called to inform them that I would deposit it and pay the remaining balance the next day. Despite this, and the fact that I have already paid over 2k in the last month, I felt like I was being treated as though I was going to withhold payment or commit fraud. They insisted on up-front payments or that I pay and wait for insurance reimbursement, even though I had communicated openly and intended to settle everything. It left me feeling like I was being treated like a criminal, not a patient. ultimately decided not to return and will continue my dental care elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: The entire staff are always very nice, helpful, friendly, funny and professional! They always make sure that you are doing well, concerned about your health, answer all questions, your happy, safe and treat you like family.

Negative experience: Edit 10/28/23: the entire office staff and dentists that work there have changed since my initial five-star review over a year ago (the changes occured over the Fall of 2023). I can no longer support Harwood Smiles and will not return to this practice. This is the most friendly, thorough, and professional dentist office I have ever been to. The small but mighty staff is fantastic and gets to know you and your needs before making recommendations for treatment. Dr. Hills took the time to explain things to me that I had not been told over my 40 years of dental treatments and made sure I understood everything, including purpose and level of importance. I cannot recommend this dental practice enough and this is coming from a person quite fearful of dental treatment after some bad experiences. Don't hesitate to make that first appointment....I promise you won't be disappointed.

Fantastic experience: if you have dental anxiety, this is the place to go! everyone here has been nothing but kind and gentle with me and my situation and made my experience so comfortable when i was very nervous. dr. hill and the dental hygienist (i think her name is vanessa) are so so so sweet and you can tell they love what they do and want you to be comfortable. also the girl who’s usually at the front (not sure her name but she is blonde lol) is so so nice too and helpful as well! can not say enough great things about them!

Fantastic experience: Edit : wanted to add in that this dentist office does clear correct (Invisalign alternative) consultation. It’s been one week with my first trays and although feeling sore I’m excited that they’re helping me get my straighten teeth I’ve been wanting I used to be extremely afraid of the dentist but being Dr. Hill’s patient has helped me over come that fear. I now actively make appointments when I am experiencing any pain and know that I will be well taken care of. Billing is very open and I know exactly when and how much I’ll be paying. Making appointments is easy. They also work with my phobia of needles by being patient when I’m scared. Most of all I leave with clean and healthy teeth! They have taken care of my numerous cavities and cleanings with no problems.

Fantastic experience: Harwood smiles was extremely accommodating and so patient with my special needs daughter. All the way from booking the initial appointment, Dr. Hill listened to all my concerns and took the extra time to listen about all my daughters challenges. My daughter is autistic and teeth cleaning is hard for her. Dr. Hill really made a connection with her and did an amazing job getting her to focus on her and explain everything she was doing. Positive experience: Staff was very kind and respectful. They really cared about my well being and answered all my questions. They work well as a team and took time with my cleaning. They also explained all of my expenses and what was covered by my insurance and how much. No hidden fees. This was a wonderful experience. Would highly recommend. Edit: three years later i am sad to say this dental office has gone down hill. The receptionist Vanessa is horrible. I called her two weeks ago to find out about some charges i had and she said she would talk to the doctor and get back to me. I called her back last week thursday and again she said she will talk to the doctor and get back to me. Made me feel like she forgot i even called her last week. I waited for her call and she never called me back. I called back on friday and no answer. I called multiple times and there was no answer. They never called me back. I called again saturday and they still did not answer my calls or call me back. I called again today tuesday and i finally got thru to vanessa who again said i will get back to you after i talk with the doctor. Seems like she is not taking her job seriously. She never calls her patients back!! Doctor Lala finally called back and said she never received information about me calling and my conversation with Vanessa until last friday. She apologized for the inconvenience. I will be giving 3 stars at this time. Because Dr. Lala is amazing but Vanessa needs to go.

Fantastic experience: I absolutely LOVE this office and I'll never go anywhere else I have or should I say had a HUGE fear of dentist and Dr Hill made that fear go away my appt wasn't rushed through she and the staff took their time to make sure I was okay and informed through my whole visit (wisdom tooth extraction) I even received a call later in the day to check on how I was doing which made me even more happy ❤️❤️

So had no choice but to look for alternative care We happened to notice Harwood Smiles as we were driving by Stopped in to enquire. To our amazement we were so warmly welcomed by Gabby. Then Dr Hills personally came to the reception area and spoke to us. Another level of amazement My husband was seen right away. Third level of amazement This is something that is missing - attentive listening to understand without judgement and compassion. We received such professional service on a very human level. The office also has a peaceful relaxed energy - yes - this is a medical facility. A dentist’s office is one of the most feared places for most people - not Harwood Smiles. Another level of amazement - the follow up after the dental work. Such a personal touch Fast forward one year plus to yesterday My turn for dental work for a deep cleaning After having the memory of the 2 weeks of pain from the previous dentist following a deep cleaning. I no doubt had concerns. Calmed myself by saying to myself “this is dr hills” all will be well Taking into consideration my very sensitive gums the deep cleaning with the numbing shots and cleaning dr hill was absolutely amazing and intuitive to my body My appointment was at 10am I was able to have a late lunch at 3pm. No pain nor discomfort nor bleeding Again. Amazing. Anyone out there who needs dental care - consider this office. You will be taken care of no matter your situation We love you Dr hills

Fantastic experience: So glad this was the dentist I chose today! Dr Hill and her girls all made me feel extremely comfortable as I unfortunately went in to deal with pain from a broken tooth. Everyone was super sweet but also super helpful, taking the time to make sure I understood all my options as well as the costs and pros/cons of each. As a side note I’m uninsured and there happened to be a deal going on so I ended up spending less for my visit (w/x-rays) than I thought!

Fantastic experience: This was my first appointment to the dentist office since the pandemic and I was very nervous but I looked at other reviews about Hardwood Smiles and I decided to take a chance and I am so glad I did. From the moment I called to make my appointment Gaby who is the receptionist at the front desk she is so kind and is the same way in person. Once I arrived at office it is very clean and the entire staff still wears a face mask which made me very comfortable especially since my household is high risk and haven't really been out unless necessary and we still wear a mask. Once I went into the room to await the dentist I was asked what tv show I wanted to watch while I waited for the dentist which helped the time pass which wasn't longer than five minutes and then the dental assistant Vinesys asked if I wanted to have a lavender scented towel to help me stay relaxed for my tooth extraction and deep cleaning which I recommend if you too are nervous when getting dental work done.Vinesys she is wonderful she also asked what type of music I would like to listen to which I chose smooth jazz first appointment and then 2nd appointment motown music. Now when it came time to meet Dr. Hill she was so patient when answering all of my questions and explained everything about my X-rays in a way that I could understand and she has a awesome sense of humor and was even singing to the music which made me stay calm as I sung along in my head. After my extraction I was numb for few hours and then took some OTC medicine as recommended by Dr. Hill. Then to my surprise Dr. Hill personally called me at home to see how my pain level was. I really appreciate her because she is really busy and could have just had one of her staff do that but she didn't that showed me the she really and truly cares about her patients. On my 3rd appt I had to go back and have my temp tooth adjusted it wasn't a problem I called and had appt same day to make the adjustment which Stephanie the other dental assistant did and also was so great it only took a few minutes. So all together I have had the pleasure of interacting with all of Dr. Hill's staff and I want to thank everyone for the care that they showed me! So please book your next appointment with Hardwood Smiles they are the best and again a very clean office for us OCD people.

It's a busy practice, but she made me feel like I was her only concern when I was in her chair. I have a healthier and tidier smile now, thanks to Dr. Hills' attentive work. My highest compliment, however, goes to Dr. Hills' flawless needle work. Many people dread going to the dentist because they dislike needle sticks in their gums, but Dr. Hills has a steady and gentle hand. Combined with her assistants' thorough pre-stick numbing gel, I barely felt the needle or the subsequent surgery. She's a real talent! The care team: From start to finish, the support staff at Harwood Smiles are friendly and skilled. The billing and appointment-setting was automated and simple, and the assistants/hygienists did a great job preparing me for procedures and assisting the dentist. I felt as comfortable in their care as I did with Dr. Hills. As a bonus, they are all as fun and good-natured as she was, which helps to ease the tension of dental surgery. The practice: The dental suites are clean, colorful, and relaxing. They have top-notch equipment, including massage chairs, and also provide Netflix for patients to watch before and during dental procedures. This is a practice that puts its patients at ease from start to finish, with friendly and skilled professionals and a vibrant atmosphere. You're in good hands at Harwood Smiles!

Dr. Hills and the complete staff make you feel so comfortable. They took my fear seriously and have done everything to make me relaxed during my visits. Fantastic experience: I had a great experience at Harwood Smiles. Dr. Hill thoroughly explained what she saw in my x-rays and what my treatment plan would be in a way I could understand. The facilities are clean and welcoming; everyone also made an effort to make my visit as painless as possible. A first for me was the hygienist using a camera to check on my teeth with the video output being displayed on the screen in front of me. The only issue during my visit was that I wasn't sure of how much of it was covered by my insurance before my x-rays were taken. I was glad that we discussed costs of my treatment plan before the final cleaning and luckily my insurance covered nearly all of it. I highly recommend Harwood Smiles for being a well-run local practice that isn't looking to speed people through.

Fantastic experience: Had an emergency where my temporary front teeth fell out and I lost them, the staff was able to get me in the same day! When I walked in I was greeted by my name and a smile. Gabby got me checked in super fast and before I knew it I was in the back! Stephanie sat down face to face and started asking me questions about what happened. Very professional I might add! After it was all said and done she had only spent two hours with me and was able to completely remake my 3 front teeth by hand with no molds to go off of! They turned out amazing!!! Definitely would recommend this dentist office! I’ll be back for sure!

Fantastic experience: The ladies here did a fantastic job on my teeth. I had waited way to long to fix them. It's taking 3 months of work. They were very patient with me. They kept me laughing. No laughing gas. I would recommend them for everyone that needs dental care. Now I have a long term dentist. Thanks ladies.

Fantastic experience: I received excellent service and left fully satisfied today with a new crown and a reset/reattachment for a loose crown.
