Phyllis is my regular hygienist and she meticulous cleans my teeth. She provides great advice on how to keep your teeth clean between appointments. Dr Smith has provided comprehensive dental care including fillings, crowns and implants—all work done quickly.

Fantastic experience: My third attempt at finding a dentist in Sarasota and I believe this is the one! From the front desk staff, to the hygienist Phyllis who was amazing, to Dr. Smith who was friendly and professional, I give this practice an A+ My cleaning was thorough and painless and I knew I needed two crowns and Dr. Smith not only explained why, but showed me the teeth on the monitor so that I could see why I needed the crowns. All in all I recommend them highly

Fantastic experience: I became a patient at Sterling Dental earlier this year, after my husband had a (very) bad experience with a local dentist we'd been using since moving to the area a few years ago.  I couldn't be more pleased with the switch.  Dr. Smith is extremely professional and did a great job replacing an old crown, taking the time to answer my questions and explaining, in terms I understood, the need for the procedure.  The staff is very friendly and efficient (Nita has been particularly helpful with insurance issues & questions), the hygienist worked swiftly and skillfully, parking is ample and the office has a pleasant atmosphere.  In short, is a great dental practice that I'd highly recommend to anyone looking for a new dentist.

Fantastic experience: I moved to FLorida 3 years ago. Finding a good dentist in a new state isn’t fun. I went a to couple of them one time and never went back. They were awful and rude. My neighbor referred me to Sterling Dental and said Dr. Smith was really good so I made an appointment. My experience was everything I hoped for; convenient location, easy parking, fantastic friendly staff and had they have an excellent plan for someone without dental insurance. I was nervous initially but the two hygienists I met made me feel at ease right away with their warm personalities. Dr. Smith was friendly, with a happy disposition. You can tell he loves his career. He educated me on the things I needed done without making me feel badly that I hadn’t seen a dentist in a while. I’ve been back twice now with 2 more appointments on the calendar. My search has stopped. I truly found the best of everything at Sterling Dental. They are the BEST!! :)

Fantastic experience: Today, June 6, 2025, Phyllis took X-rays and performed her usual complete and professional cleaning. She makes her informative recommendations, and then Dr. Smith checks me out. This is very important for me because of my tonsillar cancer in 2015 and aortic valve replacement in 2022. I highly recommend this team of dental care professionals, who also have a skilled administrative staff to handle all your billing, insurance, and appointment queries. A five-star team serving you!

Fantastic experience: I always come out feeling fresh and plaque free after a cleaning at Sterling Dental! The hygienests and dentist are all amazing.

Negative experience: I had just one experience with this office and the best thing I can say is that Jordan was very sweet and respectful. Dr. Smith not so much! When he first walked into the room first of all he didn’t even introduce himself. But his. Aura thought he was pretty special. He quickly got to business on cementing my crown on that had fallen off a week before. I did not find him pleasant or professional at all. I’ve read the reviews and seen his ratings but unfortunately there’s no way to know exactly who is writing them. My tooth came off a week later and I had to call him and ask him to put it back on the next day. He was not at all empathic to my situation and my tooth had come off in the very front and it happened to be on a Friday. He told me he had no doctors on call for the weekend which I find appalling!! I cancelled my dinner plans for the weekend with my in laws. I’m sure if he was in my shoes you can be sure he would get it taken care of pronto! I will never go back to this dentist. And I’m very perceptive and a very honest person. I would rather go to a doctor, dentist etc. Who is sincere and caring then how pleased the surroundings are. Overall I see him as cocky, inexperienced and one that has much to learn about humans as beings!

Everyone on staff is so very friendly and kind and Dr. Smith is very patient and honest about what’s necessary to keep your teeth happy and healthy. I love the hygienist Georgette And there’s a younger dental assistant who has curly hair and tattoos that is very sweet. I’m so lucky to have found a great doctor!

Fantastic experience: Dr Smith is the best ! I am an unfortunate person with facial nerve damage and routine novocaine does not work for me. Needing a crown was frightening for me but Dr Smith through the use of a couple of numbing drugs was able to do my crown with no pain restoring my faith in dentists! Fantastic experience: I’ve been going to Dr. Smith for a couple years now. I first went to him for veneer’s as my teeth were kinda bad (pictures attached). Him and his team did a fantastic job in getting everything done for me before I had to leave and go back home, and throughout the entire process made sure I was comfortable. The veneers turned out perfect, I like to smile now and don’t have to feel self conscious or hide my teeth anymore. Three years later and I still get compliments on my teeth and how pretty they are. I only trust Dr. Smith and his team to look at my teeth. Im thankful for all their hard work.

Fantastic experience: Excellent dentist and hygienist; very thorough. My NY dentist commented on the great quality of a crown they did. Here's a second review: I broke a veneer and Dr. Smith took my call on a Sunday (yeah, a Sunday!) and set me up with a temp first thing Monday AM. And he made time to install the permanent veneer ahead of schedule, without a previous appointment, when I had to catch a plane unexpectedly the next morning. The new veneer is superb...a perfect fit. I highly recommend this practice for their responsiveness and quality!

Positive experience: I really like this dentist, and the hyjenist who cleaned my teeth. My only critisism is that she did not polish my teeth after cleaning. I am used to that being done with cleaning.

Fantastic experience: Best dental experience in a long time. Sofia assisted Dr. Smith in putting on my permanent crown and it was a seamless and painless experience. Additionally, this crown was a replacement for a failed crown that came off the Tuesday before the tropical storm and Dr. Smith's office got me in at 330 that day to put a proper temporary crown on. Outstanding!

Fantastic experience: I had an emergency dental situation last week. I woke up in severe pain, and had called many dentists to see if they could fit me in. Most of them said no, and one said it was a 50/50 chance that they would be able to fit me in. I called Dr. Smiths office, and they were empathetic to my situation, and squeezed me in. Dr. Smith diagnosed my problem and thoroughly explained all of my options. He was forthcoming, and told me with honesty what he felt was the best decision for my treatment. He then sent in staff with paperwork to show me my treatment plan, length of time to complete, and payments. While he was working on my mouth, I had minimal pain with minimal drugs. I have never had such a knowledgeable, gentle dentist, who actually fixed a problem. I have been to many dentist over the years in Sarasota, some of the “best” so to speak. I have always been left disappointed. Dr. Smith, in my opinion, has surpassed them all. The staff are also wonderful, competent and helpful. From explaining billing, procedures, and good old fashion kindness! Thank you Dr. Smith and wonderful staff! I have now finally found a dentist. Cheryl Lee

Fantastic experience: I love this office! I’ve followed Phyllis (hygienist) over from another office because she’s just that awesome at what she does! Every time I leave, my teeth look and feel amazing! Dr. Smith is very thorough and has great bed side manner (not something you always see in a dental office). I’ve been lucky enough to not need any dental work done, but he has done fillings for my husband and my husband said it’s the quickest and least painful procedures he’s ever had! I’m so happy to have switched offices!
