Fantastic experience: Nice doctor and hygienist! Very clean place and easy scheduling.

Negative experience: I expect professionalism and cultural awareness from healthcare providers. During my appointment, the hygienist described Mississippi as “ghetto” in a casual conversation. Whether intended as a joke or not, the comment was inappropriate and made me uncomfortable. Patient-facing staff should communicate respectfully and avoid stereotypical or disparaging remarks. The dentist otherwise appeared to be gracious, professional, and very analytical.

Negative experience: Dishonest and all a money grab. Was pitched to buy products from them directly to boost their sales. Was told I needed two crowns. They botched the first one and had pain for over 6 months even after going back twice to have them fix it and still can’t chew normally on the one side after over two years. Got a second opinion on the other tooth I “needed” a crown on and the dentist so no, it was just a minor filling that had dislodged. Yet the Smilist acted like it was a medical emergency to push me to get another crown and make more money. I’m sure I never even needed the one they did.

Fantastic experience: Female receptionist was courteous and informed me that my medical sign in were updated. Then she escorted me to the room, updated my records with my new medication and blood pressure records. Then she introduced me to male dental assistant Dionne. dental assistant was very professional and caring by making sure I was comfortable, wiped the excess water on my face , explained the procedure. Dr Shamar was very professional, explained what procedure she had to do, cleaned the excess cement in my silver crown and molar, cement the crown in place and told my don’t eat within 24 hours so crown could bond to tooth. Dionne took X-ray to update my records. Upon completion, doc thanked me and Dionne escorted me to front desk to pay my copayment and thanked me for visiting. the hygienist for the dental care gift package as she thank me for visiting. Then she escorted me to the receptionist who completed my $31.00 payment and wished me a wonderful summer and they’ll see me in October for my next cleaning.

My hygienist, Tiffany, took good care of me and did a thorough, noticeable job for this initial visit. Thank you so much, Tiffany. My daughter's hygienist treated my daughter well and with care, given that she was very scared and embarrassed that she had a cavity. Dr. Gross is just fantastic. He answered all of my daughter's questions, put her at ease, explained preventive care and the process for her treatment, as well as mine, and was overall just kind and non-judgmental. Everyone in the office is professional and sensitive to your needs. I commend and recommend Dr. Gross. He is thorough and makes sure you understand what and why something is happening with your mouth/teeth. I appreciate his style of dentistry. The entire experience is peaceful and professional. Fantastic experience: I’ve used this practice before but today I had an emergency from last week that they took care of today. They were very caring understanding and helpful. I happen to take a medication that can cause you to bleed so they thought ahead and schedule me for a later date, even though I had a toothache, they gave me what I needed to stay out of pain until it was time to have it done a few days later The dentist did really well, and he was very patient and caring with his services. He explained all through the procedure What was going on and I have to say I had to ask if the tooth were pulled when he was done because I didn’t feel a thing now it’s the evening and all the Novacaine has worn off and I’ve just taken two Tylenol on GP general principal because I wanna make sure I’m not feeling pain later but I’m doing well. My jaw is just a little sore this is to be expected and I’m rinsing with light salt water Behind each meal like soup or jello. Painless having a tooth pulled impossible, but it happened for me today. Fantastic experience: I had an emergency over the weekend with my brace wire coming loose on the inside of my lower teeth. I left a message asking if I could be seen on Monday to reattach the wire. I got a call first thing on Monday morning and had an appointment for noon the same day. My wire was fixed and Dr. Fishkin was gracious as always. I love his office and his team. Can’t recommend the Smilist enough.

Fantastic experience: First time having work done at the Smilist with Dr Gross as they are in network with my insurance. Had a root canal done today on a top molar tooth. I honestly didn’t feel ANYTHING, not even the “pinch” of the Novocain needle. Very impressed and highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: Staff were wonderful - so welcoming - it was my first visit. Great introductory deal! Michelle, the hygienist, was thorough and extremely helpful- it didn’t hurt a bit. Dr. Gross was terrific- also thorough and really went out of his way to “fix” a problem that I had been dealing with. He was so patient and sensitive.

I was in need of a root canal however my last dental office from UMDNJ not only was a bad experience but they did not address the issue properly however one visit Dr. Gross did my root canal which normally takes 2 visits and last office was pushing my appointment out to October. I am thankful and grateful for the experience at Smilist Dental.

Fantastic experience: The entire staff at the Mountainside Smilist are amazing! I went there for an emergency check as I was having tooth sensitivity. Not only is the office convenient for me but they took me the same day! Turns out I needed some work done. I was super nervous as I've never had much work done on my teeth. The hygienist Liz and the Dr were so patient with me, answered all my questions and took their time so i was relaxed and comfortable. I'm extremely happy with this office/staff!!!! Highly recommend!!!!

Fantastic experience: My kids started going before me. They love going to the Smilist. They did make some recommendations for wisdom teeth pulled from recommendations to an oral surgeon. They did a great job on my cleaning and noticed a tooth need some attention. Today I became a king when they put on my new crown. Very professional explaining everything step by step and what to expect. Definitely a perfectionist.

Fantastic experience: I really appreciate my most recent experience at the Smilist. Dr. Fishkin who I have seen for a number a years, sought to tend to and care for my filling that was broken. I'm not sure how different it was from past experiences but this was experience stood out due to the manner in which he approach the routine procedure, the questions asked before and during the procedure. It left me we a feeling and sense that I was being care for which is what people want and expect from your medical provider. Greatly appreciate the staff as well, Katrina, and Courtney. Fantastic experience: Top Notch Dentist Office from top to bottom, whether is the front end staff who go above and beyond in appointment scheduling, finding providing that accept your coverage or just general billing questions they go above and beyond what is generally asked at an office. On top of that the staff is always friend ly to be around and understanding when it comes to scheduling. Doctor's Fishkin, Asiata and their whole staff are too notch. They were the one discover that both my mom and myself have a teeth grinding problem at night. And since getting my mouth guard two years ago it has been life changing for myself both for my teeth and my sleep. Highly recommend and would consider keeping them as dentists even if I didn't live in the area because I know going back I would only receive the best care. People can often be skeptical of going to the Dentist but in all honesty I look forward to my appointments because I know I will only be receiving the best care.

Fantastic experience: I am a patient of Dr. Fishkin for more than 26 years . I completely trust his professional opinion, expertise and work. I recommended his service to all my family and friends(my mother, husband and two kids are his patients for many years as well). The office staff Is professional, caring and friendly.

Fantastic experience: While it is easy to pass this place, and their parking lot can be a bit complicated if people don't know how to stay between the lines. Once you get inside, things can't be better. I've been coming for a few years now and I absolutely adore my hygienist since she is not only excellent at doing her job, but explaining things and even giving comical stories and conversations. The doctor is cool, usually in and out but I thankfully don't have any major issues that require long conversations with him. Billing has never been an issue, they use a software system to remind you of appointments, which is nice, and if you ever need any kind of dental product, a WaterPik, or whatever, they usually have one to purchase.

Negative experience: Had a great experience earlier this year but most recently felt like I was being pushed/sold a ton of things I didn't even need without even a solid explanation. (went elsewhere since and they agreed and didn't understand why such extra accessories/procedures would get pushed upon me) So whoever that gray haired used car salesman who calls themselves a dentist was a huge turn-off for otherwise what seemed like a solid dentist location previously.

Fantastic experience: I was pleasantly impressed by the thoroughness of care and security for your patients. My impression from the front steps of your office exterior, to the waiting room, to the examination room was extremely calm and pleasant with the soft blue and white decor to the playful animals on the TV screen. And lastly, the courtesy, the friendliness, and the professionalism of the staff especially Dr Fishkin. I must say 'one cool dude'. Thanks for the experience.
