They were compassionate, helpful, and overall amazing with my boys. One thing I especially appreciated was how thorough they were explaining everything for me and making me feel comfortable during the entire process. For a first visit, I would give them a 11/10!

Fantastic experience: The team at BAKD is absolutely wonderful. Every provider we’ve interacted with has been so kind, patient, and gentle with the little ones. My 4 year old is terrified of the dentist, but they took the time to make him feel safe and comfortable. Because of their care and encouragement, we were actually able to get his X-rays done, a huge milestone for our family! We’re incredibly grateful for the compassion and professionalism of the entire team. I can’t recommend BAKD highly enough for anyone looking for a pediatric dental office that truly cares about their patients.

Fantastic experience: If you have a 14month toddler and need to go and find an emergency dentist, plz choose this one. Dr. Metwally is very experienced. Highly recommended. He took out the metal object from my son's teeth in less than a minute. Plz go to him, and they are super friendly if you don't have insurance. Highly Highly Recommended!!!!

Negative experience: AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! Stopped taking our insurance and then sent us a bill for $48 after about a year since our last visit when we payed at the of care. Tried to force us to continue with a provider at a futher location and limited hours. Pushy and expensive, and they need to cancel this bill since we don't even go there. Called the number printed on my bill to discuss and it isn't even a working phone number. We had already left their dental office but this is outrageous. Avoid this place at all costs unless you like to be charged and arm and a leg and followed after you leave with extra charges for no services.

BAKD came highly recommended from my family’s usual dental practice, and we are so glad they referred us. Negative experience: I don’t usually leave such reviews, but this experience was disappointing. I was initially told they accepted my insurance, only to later receive a bill for hundreds of dollars stating they are out of network. While the staff is friendly, there seems to be a lack of clear and accurate communication around important matters like billing. I also had an unsatisfactory experience with one of the doctors, though I am willing to give the benefit of the doubt that it may have been an off day. That said, I won’t be bringing my kids here again. It’s simply not worth it.

Negative experience: I feel sad updating this after being a long time BAKD family. When we joined in 2019, we had an amazing experience. Staff was warm and kind and our kids always looked forward to going. Over the past two years, we have noticed significant change in how the BAKD Santa Clara office was run. On more than one occasion, the dental staff were reprimanded by the lead dentist (Dr. Radwan) in front of us, making us feel super uncomfortable, even when our hygienists had done a good job. We also had Dr. Radwan suggest a cavity filling and sealant for one of our kids. We took the day off of work and our daughter missed school to get to the appointment, only to be told that day that actually she didn't have a cavity that needed to be filled, and that they needed to look at the X rays again. On top of everything else, BAKD no longer accepted Delta Dental, and it became the patients responsibility to pay upfront and then get reimbursed and manage the go betweens of insurance and the dental office. We have since left BAKD and continue to get automated appointment reminders and billing requests, even when we have not been enrolled in over a year. When we call, it goes to voicemail and no one returns our call.

Fantastic experience: This dental office is awesome! We've been going to Bay Area Kids Dentist since our child was 2, she's now 9. We initially went in as an emergency consultation because our daughter fell with something in her mouth that caused some trauma. From the first visit we knew this was a wonderful place with great Dentists and staff that know how to work with children. The office has a kid friendly waiting room as well as TV for kids to watch while being looked at. Everyone that has helped us has been great, from the front office people to the dental assistants and dentists. Today we were helped by Dr. Metwally & Haley. We've seen other dentists & assistants here like Dr. Amanda Tsoi & Jennifer, they are all wonderful. My child is not at all scared of going to the dentist because she's always had such a positive experience with everyone at Bay Area Kids Dentist. I would recommend this dental office to anyone with children. They know how to communicate well with children and help them feel comfortable.

My kids have been going there (and their orthodontics location for braces) since the beginning and never developed any fear of dental maintenance or procedures...lol. It is a bit hard to make appointments outside of school hours and it is a bit on the expensive side though.

Negative experience: Doctors are costly. We have good insurance, and for basic checkup it exceeded the allowed cap.

We had a scary dental accident with our baby when traveling, and Bay Area Kids Dentist was our first call. Dr Radwan was so compassionate from the moment we contacted him in the evening after regular office hours. The doctor saw us immediately when we got back the next day. The team stayed calm, moved quickly, and had the issue resolved when we were in panic. The level of care and urgency they showed was incredible. Truly a lifesaver for our family!

Negative experience: We chose this practice for our children, but the administrative and billing experience has been profoundly frustrating and costly. We were explicitly told by a staff member/insurance agent that our insurance coverage had been successfully changed in their system. Based on this direct misinformation, we proceeded with the service, paying the full out-of-network cost upfront. It later became clear the change was never correctly registered in their system, leading to the incorrect out-of-network charge. The core issue here is not the policy itself, but the staff error that caused us to incur a significant payment. We have attempted to resolve this issue and receive our full reimbursement multiple times (four times, as of today's date). During these conversations, staff have consistently deflected the conversation by focusing on irrelevant policy details they didn't cover, instead of addressing the core problem: the error that caused our upfront payment and the timeline for our reimbursement. We are still waiting for our money back. This lack of accountability, refusal to confirm a concrete reimbursement date, and the effort to continually deflect responsibility for their internal mistake is unacceptable customer service. We cannot recommend a practice that handles billing and patient resolution this poorly.

This lack of transparency led to significantly higher out-of-pocket costs compared to other dental offices. Clear communication about network status would have been appreciated.

Fantastic experience: We had a fantastic experience at Bay Area Kids Dentist! My son had a wonderful time during his visit. Miki was incredibly patient and kind, making sure Max felt comfortable throughout the entire process. Doctor is super duper professional and kind. The office is equipped with toys and movies to watch while getting teeth cleaned, which kept Max entertained and happy. The whole visit went smoothly, and I'm thrilled to report that Max didn't cry at all. His teeth are clean, and he left with toys and a big smile on his face. We absolutely love this place and highly recommend it! We also met Jennifer over the weekend, and she was amazing. She spent time listening and talking to Max while he was waiting for the dentist. Every one in the office so patient and kind. I can definitely feel that they truly care about kids at this place. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: My three kids (ages 10, 14, and 16) have been going here for a quite a few years now. We always have florist experiences with the doctors, hygienists, and entire staff. They do a great job being gentle with the kids, while also educating them on proper oral hygiene at home. We have had some pretty negative and traumatic experiences with other dental clinics in the past, but I have nothing but good things to say about Dr. Christine. A couple of my kids are on the spectrum and she is just really great with them. The office is a little far from my home, but it’s worth the drive.

Fantastic experience: My 3 years old daughter hurt her incisor teeth last weekend. As she is too little to cooperate to take a clear X-ray espeically in Dr. office. I just got a very misleading X-ray with noise which show that there is suspect crack on the root of incisor teeth. Dr. Radwan is a very professional and experienced pediatric dentist. After he listened to my description about my daught he checked my daughter teeth and said he don't think it is a real crack because there is no movement for my daughter teeth. If there is a such crack on incisor teeth the incisor teeth should move. Dr. Radwan said there is no need to take a X-ray. Before Dr. Radwan checked my daughter's teeth, three experienced dentists confirm it is a crack based on the same noisy X-ray and my descript. After I insist to taking a X-ray to confirm whether it is a real crack, he agree to take a X-ray. After getting a clear X-ray we finally confirm it is not a real crack on teeth just as Dr. Radwan judgement based on his experience and check before taking a clear X-ray. Miss Leticia helped to relax my daughter during check and it is the first time my daughter fully cooperate to go through all Dr. Radwan check and take X-ray. My daughter use to refuse and cry to cooperate with any Dr. check or treatment which always make the check fail. It is really a wonderful experience with Dr. Radwan and Miss Leticia in Bay Area Kids Dentist.

Positive experience: Came in for a double appointment as I have 2 kids. When I arrived, I discovered my appts were moved, but was told we can still be seen today. Ended up waiting almost an hour and had time for only 1 child which. Staff was nice and apologetic and suggested a system/admin issue. I’ve been bringing my kids here for 2.5 yrs and it’s always been a smooth process, so I hope this was just a fluke.

Negative experience: If I could give it a zero I would first they told me and my wife that thier would be no problem for reimbursement as soon as our medical is approved for our autistic son we would get our money back. Which they lied about they dont take medical at all on top of that they said they work well with special needs children they were horrible handling my autistic children and instead said we have to put them to sleep we can handle it so thats 1500 starting. Them saying don't worry you get your money back from medical is all lies we already paid them 3000 for our son. I wish we would have researched more cuz they lied and it makes me wonder how many other people did they lie too. If you have autistic children dont bring them here thier solution is putting them to sleep. Zero all the way

Negative experience: If I could give this practice negative stars. They recently went out of network with Delta Dental and will not mention it to you on the time of booking your appointment. They charge you the full fee ( which is unreasonably higher than other practices). They say they will submit a claim for it, which they didn't in my case until I called them after a month to check on it and they made up some excuse about it not going through!! They will not call you back or respond to your text messages when you have an insurance question or you ask them about the reimbursement check. I have called them more than 5-6 times this week to get my money back which delta dental paid them on top of the money that they charged me, only to be listening to different excuses!!! I suggest anyone looking for a kids dental pediatrician to avoid going there. I have spoken to my insurance company about this whole matter and they are going to run an investigation against this practice. They used to be good, but the front staff is horrible at communicating and disclosing all important payment related information. They are out there only to make money out of their patients!

Fantastic experience: We’ve been visiting Bay Area Kids Dentist in Santa Clara for the past 10 years and have had nothing but great experiences! The staff is always friendly, professional, and caring. A special shoutout to Nurse Anjum—she was amazing during our recent visit. She explained the importance of flossing in such a thoughtful and engaging way that it really made an impact. Both my kids love this place! Truly grateful for the consistent care and support over the years. Highly recommend this place to all parents!

Negative experience: First, let me say that our experience on the medical/dental side of things with Bay Area Kids Dentist has always been good. If that was the only aspect of our experience, we'd happily give a 5-star rating, like many other reviewers. Unfortunately, this hasn't been the whole picture. After switching to a new insurance provider in September 2023, we routinely asked over a number of visits whether our insurance was accepted. And each time we received assurance that "yes", it was. We received preventative services only (which our insurance covered at 100%) yet would receive a bill for roughly $100 per visit/per child. When we inquired about this, we were directed to their billing department. I personally made an effort for over a month to contact them, then started working with our insurance broker, who continued trying for another 6 months. Finally, we wrote a somewhat frustrated email to the front office about our experience, which finally got them to connect with our insurance broker to get our questions answered. According to our insurance broker, what seemed to be happening is that, while they did have a contract rate with our insurance provider, the actually amount they charged us was much higher. Our insurance broker also clarified that the dental office is well aware of contract rates before services are provided. So, when we asked whether they took our insurance, they should have been able to tell us estimated out of pocket cost before receiving services. But that didn't happen. And this happened multiple times, not just once. After finally having a clear picture of what was happening, I sent them another email, explaining my understanding about the situation and my frustration about not getting an accurate answer about out-of-pocket expenses. I was also clear that I was open to listening to their perspective if what I described was not accurate. I sent that email on March 17, 2025 and never heard back. I'm going to choose to believe this was all a training issue. But at this point we've received such poor customer service over such a long period of time, that we've decided to take our business elsewhere. If you decide to do business with Bay Area Kids Dentist, my advice is to very clearly ask about how much your insurance covers and what your out-of-pocket expenses will be. Fantastic experience: I highly recommend Bay Area Kids Dentist in Santa Clara for anyone with young children. They have a super kid friendly office from the unique play area in the lobby and kid sized door going back to the dentist office to the compassion team members like Anjum L. who are so knowledgeable and patient with little ones. My 4 year old is excited to go back because the whole experience was so positive for him. I’m also very grateful with the through education on age appropriate dental hygiene we were taught.

Fantastic experience: I never write reviews, but I must write one for today’s experience. Today, February 25, 2025 I had an appointment for my son with Dr, Julie Kim at the Santa Clara location. First of all, I would like to address that booking the appointment was super easy and it felt very caring and welcoming. During our appointment today, the staff were very sweet, attentive and helpful. Answered every question I had. They made my 2 year old son and I feel welcomed. Dr. Julie Kim was very nice and careful while examining my son’s mouth. She was very clear explaining treatment, process and procedures that my son needed. She gave options for me to choose and made sure I felt comfortable in choosing what option I wanted for my son’s procedure. Being our very first time visit at Bay Area Kids Dentist, I can say I’m very pleased with how fast, caring and welcoming staff and Dr. Julie Kim were. One last thing, office is very clean and loved how treatment rooms and exam room are organized. Thank you Bay Area Kids Dentist!

Negative experience: This place used to be very good. But now they don't have in network dentists and the costs more. They have only 1 in network doctor, and when scheduling the appointment we requested for that dentist. But I noticed that close to the appointment date, they will say the in network doctor is not available. And at that point if we ask for reschedule ot will be 3 months later. Also they are not on time for appointments. Had to wait 30 minutes or more for the dentist to call us.

Fantastic experience: Four thumbs up!! Every time I take my child to the dentist, he leaves smiling. The staff and doctors are always so courteous and kind. They take the time to explain everything and ensure that all out questions are answered. Thank you BAKD for getting my son to love going to the dentist!!

Fantastic experience: We've been going to Bay Area kid's dentist for 8 years now and we couldn't be happier. It is so hard to find honest, skilled, reliable and generally high quality dentists in the bay area. And finding this place that gives us all that and more is a unique experience in this area. I know I can trust any of the dentists there with my child's dental health. I know that they'll give the best advice and best service without overselling anything. I only wish they'd start taking adults too, because honestly I would love to be their patient too.

My son used to have a hard time at the dentist but at Bay Area Kids Dentist everything is so smooth. Ansun did a great job with my son’s cleaning and Dr. Chang was gentle and positive with my son. Fantastic experience: My two kids have been visiting Bay Area Kids Dentist over 13 years. All staff are happy there and my kids also feel happy, so do I. They always care about our feelings and concerns, and are very patient to answer all our questions, and provide very helpful advices. The appointment scheduling and rescheduling is easy and the front desk takes great patient to help me find good slots so my kids won't miss too many classes.

Fantastic experience: Excellent practice. My kids are patients of Dr. Mullen and they both love going to the dentist. Kid-centric designed practice and they made my son feel totally at ease during his first visit, especially Leticia, the dental hygienist who is a child whisperer. Right after we leave our kids ask when we can go again, and that’s the ultimate endorsement.

Fantastic experience: Needed a cavity filled and a crown placed from my 7 year old daughter. Dr. Ching was very patient. Assistant Yusuf was very accommodating and comforting. Highly recommended place. Super friendly staff and a wonderful office infrastructure.

Fantastic experience: From the receptionist to the dentist, everyone was SO kind and patient. I took my 22 month old for his first dentist appointment and it could not have gone better. The hygienist, Leticia explained each of the tools to him and let him explore them so that he was comfortable with the new tools and noises. She was patient and encouraging. From start to finish it was an amazing experience. So glad I found them and would definitely recommend them to others!
