Fantastic experience: Diana is an excellent dental hygienist who performs cleanings with great care and attention. She clearly explains what she is doing, shares what she finds, and gives helpful advice on how to take better care of your teeth. Overall, this is a very nice dental office. One thing to keep in mind is that the initial onboarding may involve a number of fillings, which seems consistent with many larger dental practices. While some smaller offices may recommend monitoring certain cavities over time, this office leans toward treating everything upfront. It really comes down to a personal preference for treatment approach. All of the staff are friendly, and the office hours are very convenient. They are open late on weekdays and on Saturdays, which makes scheduling much easier and less stressful. My appointments have always started on time, without any unexpected extra waiting.

Fantastic experience: I recently had an excellent experience at Perfect Smile Dental and honestly, it’s one of those places that manages to get both the clinical side and the patient experience right without feeling forced or overly polished. From the moment I walked in, the front desk team set a calm, organized tone. Check-in was quick, but not rushed, and they were very clear about what the appointment would involve. The waiting area was clean and comfortable, with a surprisingly relaxed vibe for a dental office—no stress-inducing atmosphere, just straightforward professionalism. The dental staff stood out the most. Everything was explained in plain language before anything was done, which made a big difference in easing any anxiety. The dentist was thorough without being heavy-handed, and you could tell they actually cared about long-term oral health rather than just pushing procedures. Negative experience: This was by far the worst dental experience I’ve ever had. They scheduled a cleaning appointment for me without my consent and sent a confirmation text as if I had booked it. When I called to ask what it was about, they avoided answering clearly and instead tried to change the appointment time. Later, when I decided to cancel an appointment I never even made, they told me I had to pay a $75 cancellation fee. On top of that, they previously pushed unnecessary deep cleaning treatments and told my husband he had 9 cavities that needed treatment. We went to another dentist for a second opinion, and were told none of those cavities required treatment. This place feels dishonest and extremely unprofessional. I would absolutely not recommend this dental office to anyone.

Very thankful to everyone who is part of this team and special thanks to Doctor Toy! 4/11/2026 In the process of residual Invisalign button removal by Dr. Lei(?), it seemed like polishing was unevenly done and too deep… left a deep and uneven mark on tooth… I checked online and there is no woman doctor named Dr. Lei… I am going to have to find out. And a lady assistant wearing glasses didn’t seem to know what she was doing and kept trying suction without its power on and seemed out of it. She slobbered some fluoride ointment all of my lips as well as teeth in a matter of seconds without taking any time and really dried out my mouth. Looked like she was just trying to get rid of me and move on…

Positive experience: Overall it was good as usual. However, I was little surprised that my hygienist didn't do flossing thoroughly after the cleaning treatment using wire under my bridge and implant solutions area. My previous hygienist always did those areas using the wire underneath those bridges.

Fantastic experience: Dr Chou takes her time to do a good job. She also stands by her work. I had an old crown fall off the other day. She glued it back on the next day. For free. Anh, the dental hygienist works carefully to make the job comfortable yet cleans my teeth efficiently. Update Nov 2025. Again, an old filling fell off. Dr Chou again fixed me up the next day. A Saturday afternoon. She looks after me. Update Jan 2026. I was quite picky about my bite today. She doesn’t stop adjusting the crown until it’s perfect.

Fantastic experience: Excellent dental services, especially for nervous patients

Negative experience: I’ve been here a couple of times and had no issues until recently. I never received a confirmation message for my scheduled appointment, even though I was told the appointment would only proceed if I confirmed it. Instead, I only received a reminder on the morning of the appointment. When I responded saying I never confirmed, I was told I had “requested a cancellation” and would be charged a $75 no-show fee. The staff member who contacted me spoke to me very disrespectfully and refused to let me speak with the person who originally handled the scheduling. Because of this experience, I cancelled my future appointments. This was very disappointing, as my previous visits were positive.

The dental treatment we have received there has always been perfect. The dentist-doctors and the dental hygienists have all been extremely efficient and gentle in their treatment in both our cases. Their advice has also been extremely helpful. As a result, my wife and I have teeth that are in excellent condition today, considering our age. We are very grateful for this dental clinic. Fantastic experience: Update: I saw Dr.Le yesterday after a great cleaning with Mina. He found an area of concern and did a thorough examination and provided me options for treatment. He explained everything clearly and answered all of my questions. The office staff was wonderful, too. Shannon was great and explained everything to me about a referral and expedited it so that I could contact the provider quickly. Also, Ramona was very personable and went over my charges, insurance and payment information. All in all, another excellent experience at Perfect Smile. Previous review: I am so grateful to have discovered Perfect Smile Dental! The office on First Street is beautiful, everything is incredibly clean and the reception staff is always friendly and efficient. The office staff is knowledgeable and is great about following up with appointments and other details. The Hygienists and other staff have been very professional in all my experiences. I have received great care from Dr.Chou who is wonderful at explaining and providing expert dental care. I have also been seen by Dr.Pham who is so knowledgeable and helpful. She explains everything so well using photos, X-rays and models so that I feel fully informed. Negative experience: I have been visiting since 2022 and now I have to complain about the management office. My dentist is the best, and the service was great back in 2022-2024. Starting this year, the service became so random. It’s been 3 TIMES that they informed me that my appointment is no longer available AT THE LAST MINUTE. Especially on GOOD FRIDAY, they informed me only HALF DAY BEFORE my appointment that they are off! I DONT BELIEVE THAT THEY DONT KNOW THEIR HOLIDAY CALENDAR WHEN RESERVING MY APPOINTMENT 3 MONTHS EARLIER. But still they decided to tell me at the last minute. WHILE THEY REQUEST THE PATIENT TO INFORM THEM ANY CHANGE TO THE APPOINTMENT 48 HOURS AHEAD OR PAY $75 NO SHOW FEE! What a double standard. How ridiculous the management is, and how disrespectful to my time.

My hygienist, Jazmin, was exceptional to say the least. She was thorough yet gentle, and she walked me through the entire cleaning area by area, addressing all of my concerns. What stood out most was how she took the time to take photos of anything that needed closer attention and explained everything in clear, easy-to-understand terms (no confusing dental jargon!). I could tell she genuinely cared and paid close attention, which made me feel very comfortable and confident in her care. I also want to thank Shannon and Rowena at the front desk for being so prompt and helpful in prioritizing my appointments. Overall, I am very pleased with the patient care I’ve received here. Negative experience: I invested a significant amount of money at Perfect Smile from 2020 until now, completing every procedure they recommended and paying fully out of pocket. When I was going through expensive treatments, appointments were easy to schedule and the office was very responsive. Now that I only need routine maintenance cleanings every 4 to 6 months, the level of care has noticeably declined. I booked a cleaning six months in advance. One week before the appointment, I received a text saying it had to be rescheduled. The next available date was three months later. That kind of delay makes it clear that once you are no longer spending thousands, you are no longer a priority. I was not planning to leave a review, but now that I am looking for a new dentist after years of loyalty and financial investment, I am extremely disappointed. If you are looking for a dental office that is happy to take your money but not support your long-term care, Perfect Smile may be the place for you. If you want a provider who values you even when you are coming in for basic cleanings, I would strongly suggest looking elsewhere.

During my most recent visit, I had the pleasure of meeting Jazmin for my yearly teeth cleaning, and I was blown away by how quick and efficient she was. She got me in and out within 30 minutes, and every minute was spent focused on cleaning my teeth. Not only did she work quickly, but she kept the conversation engaging throughout the process. I could tell she was doing a thorough job, and even the rinsing was done neatly! While I’ve never had a bad cleaning, this was by far the fastest and most well-done cleaning I’ve had. The nurse was also very patient. Because my English is not very good. Dr. Chou also went to the front desk to help us communicate with the front desk staff. Because dentists are very busy. Thank you Dr. Chou. The front desk staff also patiently explained to us the current status of our insurance. How much does the insurance pay? How much does it cost if you pay out of pocket. It was very clear. Thanks again to all the staff of San Jose Dental Clinic.

Negative experience: Do yourself (and your bank account) a favor by avoiding this place at all costs. I highly suggest doing adequate research if you're thinking about becoming a patient here, and to take all their 5 star reviews without any further comment or explanation on Yelp/Google with a grain of salt. I had been going to the same dentist for 15+ years, and unfortunately had to switch dentists when I got a new job, as they did not accept my new employer's insurance. After my first appointment here, they claimed that I needed NINE procedures done. Nine fillings, including a potential crown. I've had 3-4 minor cavities before, but overall no major dental issues. I do my bi-yearly cleanings, floss daily, brush twice a day, etc. I was beside myself. Perfect Smile has all this updated technology and spends a lot of time showing you 3D scans of your teeth trying to sell you on why you need all these procedures done, but please do not fall for this trap. I naively thought that I had all these issues, but after further thought decided it would be best to get a second opinion before blowing $1,300+ on dental procedures. I recently got my second opinion, and it turns out I have none of the issues that Perfect Smile presented me. I'm actually glad that I had this awful experience at Perfect Smile, because they led me to a new dentist office that reminds me of the dentist I had previously been going to for 15+ years. I cancelled my follow-up appointments with Perfect Smile and thankfully they won't be taking advantage of me financially and charging me for unnecessary procedures. Please please do your due diligence before scheduling an appointment here. I highly suggest finding yourself a private practice that accepts your insurance instead of going the corporate route.

Negative experience: Over-treatment, please avoid. Been in pain after treatment for 10 months now, going to a different specialist for a root canel soon. Initially, I liked this place because how gentle the doctors seem to be so I recommended a couple of my friends to go as well, but all of them share the same suspicion with what I had. After getting charged with many treatments that other dentists didn’t really suggest. One of my molar has a little bit part chipped off but no pain at all, the doctor here did a filling saying this teeth filling is emergent (rating 2) The doctors were actually nice to take a picture of the teeth before feeling and I do understand that different doctors have different philosophy of how much treatment should be done. However, cross checking with different dentists had me confirm that his teeth actually should not be treated with filling because the treatment actually make the teeth weaker and I have to see a endodontist to check my fracture in the teeth. TLDR: I have to pay another 1400$ for the “temporarily crown -> check if my teeth still hurts then permanent crown treatment”, looks like I’m paying more for a root canal now. I have been in pain since last year. They also want to overcharge you as much as they do. It is evidence in other comments that they suggest other products to clean your mouth after work, which cost over $60 and they always ask you to do deep cleaning. It is reasonable that I was able to get a follow up appointment regarding that teeth. The doctor initially suggests that it was due to the thinning of my enamel, despite a clear signal of fracture by lighting a light on my teeth, (what my endodentist did). And I have to ask them for a referral. Then, I know I have to write a negative review because the final straw is when the front desk lady told me to not go to endodontist for root canal because they can do the root canal for me (my root canel doctor asked me why they would say that since they are the experts) and the front desk lady also hesitated to refer me to a place for CT scan because they are afraid of losing me as a customer And what’s amazing is that the lady directly said “ well, we don’t want you to go to other places to get treated” in a firm tone in front of my face. What? There are a lot more that I didn’t share but were red flags. Don’t go there. Please find good family dentist who don’t overtreat.

The receptionist canceled my appointment without any prior consent and requested that I either reschedule or pay a cancellation fee. This experience has led me to question the reliability of this clinic. As a result, I am considering changing dental clinics next year.

Negative experience: My appointment was 2-3pm but my appointment was hugely delayed and I saw the doctor at 3pm, which means I waited on the chair for 1 HOUR. Everyone in the world is busy and I feel my time is NOT RESPECTED. I take one hour off work to see my dentist, but I ended up needing to postpone my work meeting because of the delay. I feel this is a disproval of your clinic’s “catered to the fast paced Bay Area living vibe” slogan on your propagation video on the Google Maps. After I got my teeth cleaned, the dental hygienist who helped me polish my teeth is incompetent. She seemed to mess up something when setting up the polishing machine. She had to ask two other hygienists for help and I waited there for 10 more minutes while she was trying to fix it. When she was polishing my teeth, she splashed the polisher powder everywhere on my face, even after I told her she got it on my face. Never got this experience before at any dentistry when I got my teeth cleaned elsewhere. The front desk lady explained this as “there were some system update, that’s why it took her long to set up the machine,” while the hygienist obviously just messed up setting up the machine.

Fantastic experience: I love coming to this office. Everyone is pleasant and kind. And then there's Dr Le, I loooove him. Everything he touches is perfection. Thank you to each one of you for always taking good care of me

Positive experience: Been a loyal customer for 6 years now. Fantastic service from Diana the hygienist, dentists Annie Chou and Allen Le. Addressed multiple cavities without any issues. Had an unexpected rude experience with front desk person when I was leaving the office this evening after a cleaning appointment. The person was helping set up Zoom consultation appointment for Invisalign. I mentioned that I was on personal travel next couple of weeks and would prefer a time slot after I return. Instead of listening to my input, the front desk person kept pushing and insisting on appointment in the next few days (tomorrow/ September 10) asking personal questions like "Are you going out of the country?", "It would be good if you can take your laptop". I made it very clear I don't want a dentist appointment (this is not an emergency by any stretch of the imagination). Having second thoughts of continuing with this clinic if the front desk cannot respect my time and privacy as a customer.

Fantastic experience: My recent experience with Dr. Toy was nothing short of outstanding. She examined me with an impressive level of thoroughness and discovered something no other dentist had ever noticed: a foreign body, likely a metal wire, embedded in the bone underneath my gum. This must have been there since childhood, as I had no recollection of it. While it's likely harmless, it underscored her incredible attention to detail. Beyond this remarkable find, Dr. Toy expertly fixed multiple cavities and ensured that my bite was perfect. Her caring and warm demeanor made me feel at ease throughout the entire process. She has a knack for providing clear and reassuring explanations to my questions while respecting my time, starting and ending procedures as scheduled. What really stood out was her follow-up--she took the time to reach out to me after hours to make sure everything was going well. Dr. Toy is a true professional who blends technical expertise with a personal touch. If you need a dentist who genuinely cares and goes above and beyond, she is the one to see.

Negative experience: Please avoid. A year ago I went this place for routine cleaning and was told I need deep cleaning (painful). And I was told it could be covered by insurance. But turns out according to my insurance company and my former dentists I did not need deep cleaning at all! They reviewed the x ray and every other reports this clinic provides but still say deep cleaning was an OVER treatment. Still they wanna bill me nearly 1000 dollars. i wish to get this waived and move on. They should’ve made sure with insurance company in the first place. See the attached photo for evidence

Negative experience: My first piece of advice is to avoid this dental practice at all costs. If you do happen to end up as a patient of this practice, I would advise you to seek a second opinion from a dentist that you trust. I had a horrible experience with Dr. Le in particular. I came in after experiencing pain and bleeding in my gums. I booked an emergency appointment online for the following morning. Rather than addressing the issues that I presented with, Dr. Le went on to diagnose me with other issues that he could treat (charge) me for. I take good care of my teeth; I regularly attend my bi-yearly cleanings; and I’m only 24 years old. Other than the issues I presented with, I had no pain or discomfort. As such, I was shocked when Dr. Le informed me that I would need two root canals, two crowns, and a deep cleaning. I had a strong feeling that I was being deceived in some way, so I immediately booked an appointment to see my family dentist. After a thorough check-up and routine cleaning, my family dentist informed me that I was (thankfully) not in need of any dental procedures besides a filling for a small cavity. I felt a strong sense of relief from this news, and then thought that I need to warn any patients of Perfect Smile to be wary and skeptical of the unnecessary, painful, and invasive dental procedures that your dentist might recommend. Furthermore, instead of giving me a prescription oral rinse that would directly address my painful gums, Perfect Smile strongly advised me to go with a much more expensive (and not covered by insurance) product called “OraCare”. This OraCare oral rinse had no effect on my problem. I had to go back to the practice and more-or-less beg for them to give me a prescription that they continued to advise me against, although it would go on to be an effective treatment for the issues I was facing. (Thank you to the receptionist that I spoke to on the second day that I came in for helping me get the prescription that I needed!) Again, please seek a second opinion! Do not waste your money like I did.

Fantastic experience: The most comfortable deep cleaning I have had. Thank you. Past deep cleanings in other dental practices have been remarkably unpleasant when compared to what I experienced here.

Negative experience: Excellent dental care! They are very kind, patient, informative, and they put up a screen with Netflix for me during a long procedure! Update: they failed to remove the entirety of a cavity. Despite growing pain and multiple check ups, they failed to see the cavity grow down the nerve root and kept insisting that my tooth was just sensitive. It eventually infected my jaw and I had to get an emergency root canal at another office.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been a patient here for a long time and seeing Diana every 3 months for cleaning and examinations. All along data has been collected and suggestions made to help me improve my gum and tooth health. We have a good baseline to judge how changes in daily care affect my results. By implementing several of the recommendations from Diana, I am seeing 50% reduction in gum softness and plaque build up. We both recognize that changes in my routine directly resulted in changes in the metrics they collect to measure gums and the more qualitative conclusion of plaque build up. We couldn’t make these conclusions unless we had a solid baseline, and I implemented changes one at a time. Specific changes were: daily use of a water pik; switching to oral b circular motion electric toothbrush, and daily use of a 2 part mouthwash called oral care which costs 60 bucks but helped stop gum bleeding. Any way thanks to her I have a much better feeling about my long term teeth and gum health. Thank you Diana and perfect smile

Fantastic experience: I am one of Dr Pham's original patients, I have been seeing her since 2006/2007 when she opened her first office. I couldn't imagine a more kind and professional person. I am scared to death of the dentist since childhood and she put me right at ease. She stays up to date on technology and advancements in her space and her staff is top notch. If you are scared or are in a bad way with your dental health, I promise this is a safe space where you will never be judged or looked or spoken down to, everyone is happy you are there to get healthy.

The front office side called/emailed before our visit, they had all our information when we showed up. We felt the welcoming spirit as soon as we entered the office.
