Negative experience: They were nice & my appointment was on time but there is a disconnect between the location & the head office. I called about a price quote & extraction but I had to make an intake appointment 1st. Learned the orthodontist was not available for 2 weeks. I only realized after that it was pretty much a waste of time. I spoke to their call center AND receptionist on site. They couldve said the soonest for an extraction would be 2 weeks out over the phone. Also its about $1000+ OOP per wisdom tooth if anyone needs to know.

Negative experience: At first I really liked this place but since my kids got braces 3 years ago it's been a pain. They have canceled numerous braces appointments which ended up adding extra time to their treatment plans. For the longest time they said cleaning needed to be on the same day as ortho so I would schedule both only to have them both canceled because ortho wasn't even in that day. I chalked it all up to some turnover but just recently we were scheduled for a deband appointment to remove braces. We made this appointment 2 months ago for the morning. A few weeks later they call and reschedule for the afternoon. I had booked everything perfectly, remove braces in the morning and get cleaning in the afternoon when we go back to get the retainer. Now they called and rescheduled the braces removal for 2 months from now.. because they "want to keep the schedule of no removal in the afternoon". We were scheduled for the morning and got moved around. Now we have 2 months of no adjustments just to wait to have them removed.

Fantastic experience: The Dr. and his staff are really nice and professional. I definitely recommend this facility. I drive 650 miles one way to come to my dentist because of the caring and professional treatment I get

Negative experience: AVOID THIS PLACE!!!! This has got to be the worst run orthodontics office. I paid out of pocket for retainers on May 2nd and they said I would get a call back in one month, I never heard back and got the run around whenever I called. Two months later they told me that they could only schedule me on August 18th. I asked them to expedite this and all they said was there was no one on the ortho team available. I asked for a refund so I could find some other place and I am still getting the run around on that. They were so quick to take me on as a new patient and take payment but unfortunately they have the worst service, or lack of it. If I could give them zero stars, I honestly could.

Negative experience: I got 3 extra bills after been told I was done paying . Sent me to collections and got 10 phone calls from them . Took 5 months to get it straight . They are liars and thieves. !!!!

Negative experience: I don’t usually leave reviews, but I feel like I need to share my experience. In May 2024, I came in for what I believed was a single cavity. After my new patient exam, I was told I had 14 cavities and over the course of two months paid over $8,000 for composite resin fillings. I was under the impression that everything had been fully treated and would last several years. After the procedures, I experienced ongoing pain that lasted well beyond the normal recovery period for what was expected of my fillings. I returned multiple times for follow-ups and X-rays but was consistently told it was just sensitivity and that it would go away though it never really did. Fast forward to the past year, I began having worsening pain in one oral area and headaches. After seeing another provider since I’ve moved, I’ve now learned that there were still cavities present under some of the fillings. I’ve already had to spend nearly $2,000 addressing issues on one crown last year, and I’m now facing approximately $8,000 more in crowns and root canals on teeth that were previously treated. While the staff was always polite and scheduling was easy for me, I’m extremely disappointed in the quality of care I received. It’s difficult to understand how this outcome occurred after such significant treatment. I hope this review encourages others to seek second opinions and helps the office reflect on patient care as I am left feeling very confused, hurt, and frustrated by the care I did-and didn’t receive by Castle Dental.

Negative experience: Dr. Mathis is a very skilled dentist. However Castle is a corporate dentist office and it seems the only cure is a crown. And then the need for the 1,000 dollar root canal that takes their "specialist" less than fifteen minutes before every crown. Call in with a tooth abscess, they give you and appointment exactly 2 weeks out. It hurts like hell so Dr. Mathis prescribes two days of pain medication. Then after calling and a long wait he renewed it for two days more. Then I was told I may want to visit an emergency room after that runs out. So, I'll never be back. I don't have a pain med addiction but waiting for two weeks for an appointment in pain is not an option again. Oh yeah, if you compare Castle prices to private clinics, the private clinics are cheaper. Corporate will bend you over. Root canal and a crown 5K recently quoted to me. Just the facts.

Negative experience: They NEVER call to let you know when your denture is in and they never answer the phone directly. Voicemail is introduced as AI and three separate messages on various days have been left and still no one has called back and there is no way to reach them directly!!! Physically it is hard to drive to the location to check on status or if they are even still open. Terrible customer experience from the administrative side. Review done based on experience of patient.

Fantastic experience: I have finally finished my treatment. A total of 28 months. I am a chronic cancer patient and went to several other orthodontists who said they couldn’t correct my smile. Castle Dental was the only one to take me on. The team was extremely professional and took excellent care of me. I truly thank Dr. Rabi, Dr. Lancaster and of course Mary and Evette. I am so thankful for their expert treatment. Well done. Castle Dental.

Negative experience: I had a very frustrating experience with this dental office. I received a deep cleaning on October 1st, and only the right side of my teeth was treated. I was charged a total of $935, which was already surprising given that it was not a full-mouth treatment. Later, I discovered that I had been overcharged by $53. When I pointed this out, I was told that the refund would be sent to me by check. However, more than three months have passed and I still have not received it. Since then, I have visited the dental office more than four times and called once. Every time, I was told that the insurance coordinator was not available and that they would check and call me back — but I have never received any follow-up. Even today, I was given the exact same response. After multiple visits and a phone call for the same issue, nothing has been resolved. This is no longer just about the $53. It’s about the complete lack of communication, accountability, and respect for the patient’s time. I would not recommend this dental office based on this experience.

Negative experience: I liked dr. Mathis and his work but recently, i am very disheartened at the treatment I received from Dr. Mathis and manager this past week was when I went in for a crown. Let me start from the beginning. I had gotten an X-ray at castle dental on a tooth that had been given me grief for quite awhile. A tooth that already had a root canal done on it. Dr. Mathis took another X-ray two teeth, wrote down the tooth number of tooth on paperwork for MCity endodontist for me to go to m city orthodontist to have them do another root canal. It cost me $,2000 out of my pocket. The pain continued in my tooth and I let them know. It would come & go the pain. They said it couldn't be that tooth because there's no nerve left. Recently the pain was so bad I went to see dr. Mathis, and they took ANOTHER x ray and told me that I would need to go to the endonodst again , and probably have a root canal. Between appointments the tooth in front of the tooth in question had broken. I immediately felt some relief and realized they had done a root canal on a tooth that had already had a root canal and was NOT in fact the correct tooth. TWO offices & professionals and I'm dealing with this. Fast forward I got the correct tooth done with the root canal and proceeded to have a crown put on. I respectfully asked Doctor Mathis for a discount because I believe that someone dropped the ball and did not correctly diagnose which tooth was bad. So the endodontist and Doctor Mathis office both worked on this tooth and a tooth that didn't need the work.So I wanted a discount. I felt that was fair considering this is really a serious thing that has has occured here. Mathis wanted me to see the endodontist because he said it was their issue and the endodontist said i needed to go back to mathis as that was his office who wrote down which tooth needed the work. Both pointed the finger at each other. FYI the endodontus recommended by dr. Mathis has recently closed down. He wouldn't consider a discount or take part ownership for the error made and thousands it cost me plus my time & missing work. He told me he was uncomfortable working on me and asked me to leave and he doesn't want me as a patient. I wish Dr. Mathis was a little more compassionate & considerate about ppl and feelings. It's not all about how much money, it's about ppl and relationships and caring. I literally asked you for a discount of a couple hundred dollars and you didn't even take a moment to think about your answer. You simply said, "we cant do that." I dont believe you considered my situation compassionately or honorably. Now you have left me with a tooth that is shaved down ready for a crown exposed to bacteria and other issues until my new plan begins in january. I dont normally write reviews unless they are good, but ive been so stressed over this and experienced such anxiety that day. This is inhumane and disrespectful for all the years that i've been your client. I don't think the request I was making was unfair, especially under the circumstances of what I went through. I want you to read and understand someone else's feelings. It was such a simple request and could have made the difference in this the future of this relationship and how we view others.

Fantastic experience: I always have a good experience at Castle Dental in Franklin TN. I’ve been going there for more than 20 years. The retention of the technician staff is very good, I usually have the same technician clean my teeth every time and they are usually there more than 5 years. My current dental technician is Fatima and she is the best, always careful and thorough with my cleaning. Dr Mathis is also good though I haven’t had any major procedures done with him because I haven’t needed anything. I would recommend.

Positive experience: Let me start by saying 5 stars are 100% for Dr. John & his RDA Rayvin. Then hands down 5 stars go to Carolina Meza. I believe she is the manager. They are why I go & will continue to go. When it comes to Melissa I couldn’t be more upset & thoroughly disgusted with how she handled me from the second I walked in. I’m in pain management already & had explained this to the office manager prior to going in. I also had whatever they wrote me approved with my pain management doctor ahead of time. I’m the type to always come prepared. The protocol they have is to only write 2 days worth (which is plenty) but half the milligram of what I’m already on with pain management. Melissa called that in after sending it to the wrong place initially but it was corrected and I was beyond thankful. Then Kroger tells me yet again (3rd go around at this point) That by law they can’t write less than what I’m already on. At first it was to just make sure it was all noted which I did. So while in massive amounts of pain, I’m having to deal with all of this. I waited for a call from her like I was told would happen & it never came. I touched base with Kroger to see what on earth happened & they told me that it was completely canceled. I’ve never been more disappointed in the way someone conducts business. Not even a call back? I’ll never go to Franklin again because of this. I drove an hour because the pain was so bad. I will follow Dr, John anywhere but never Franklin again. The lady is flat out rude. They don’t know that I’ve never been an issue with pain management or ever had a short count or failed drug test. That lady 100% labeled me. I was waiting to write this because I hate leaving bad reviews. I had high hopes that she would get back to me. You would think they would understand federal laws as well. I listened to what I was told days prior and now am taking Ibuprofen as well Which is a huge no-no for me. I have a history of bleeding ulcers & Actually had my stomach perforate in 2020. They don’t care because most people take over-the-counter. I physically can’t So that explains right there how much pain I’ve been in. I truly thought getting through today would be the worst part But now have to also taken tomorrow off work. I’ve never been treated so poorly with such an awesome surgeon & staff. Law is Law & they knew this. I did everything I was supposed to and everything I was told to. None of it mattered. My pain management directed me not to take anymore than what I was originally prescribed from them and to let the dentist take over. They failed me miserably. Thank God, I normally see Dr. John in Antioch

Fantastic experience: It's always a great visit with Dr Mathis! He is a very caring and compassionate man, very calm natured. You'll never find another dentist like him, I promise! However, his lil assistant on 8/28/25 was either having a bad day, hates his job, or maybe going through some personal issues. I could not tell, but I even tried friendly conversation with him and got real short answers & not even a smile. I realize we all go through things & we never know what another is going thru, but I was always taught to never bring personal problems to my job. Just my thoughts

Negative experience: I wish I could give 0 stars. I had an appointment for my wife last week. There was a prescribed medication for home use. Before making the payment I confirmed with the front desk if I could get this medicine outside but the lady over there clearly said you cannot. The prescribed medicine was a Colgate mouthwash. I was wondering how is that feasible that such a branded mouthwash is not available anywhere outside. I purchased the mouthwash from them and then inquired immediately at a pharmacy. What I learned was a shock for me. They sold a medicine for $38 which is available outside for just $7. I went to the clinic the same day but they closed early that day. Reached out today again and asked why did you guys lied, they simply said we did not lie and hung up the phone. They CHEAT people. Don't go to this place.

Negative experience: My experience with this dental office started off well, but everything changed after I paid the full amount for invisalign treatment. We initially scheduled the placement appointment but the aligners hadn't received on the day so it had to be rescheduled. Then they changed orthodontist which caused another delay. With the new orthodontist I am still waiting my invisalign. I received a call from the office saying they hadn't received the aligners yet, I asked for a refund but since then the staff member I spoke with has snot processed my refund . Yes the pricing here is lower than at other offices but unfortunately, the service reflects that even deeper. If you choose this clinic be prepared for poor communication and ongoing delays.

Negative experience: I had called and scheduled an appointment. I received a confirmation email as well as a text message. When I visited, the girl at the front desk refused that I had any appointment. She didn't want to listen to me and not even see my confirmation text message. Bad attitude. Finally, when I showed her the confirmation message, she said, "Sorry, we are short-staffed today." I will not go back again.

Negative experience: Booked my appointment in person for six month check up. Was never told anything about the giveaway policy at that time. Showed up at my appointment time on my appointment date. They gave my appointment away because I did not reply to the day before text. What if I was in court proceedings all day? Desk girl was exceedingly rude and unhelpful. Wasted my time and I lost money for this today. She didn’t give me a reasonable appointment time to make up was clearly was just worried about getting the next person in line scheduled. No consideration for my lost time or money. Healthcare greed at its finest.

Negative experience: Worse experience ever. They gave me an appt Saturday, 4/5/25, at 8:00 AM just for no one to be here. Nothing was ever communicated about a cancelation if anything we received confirmation text. Not to mention they send me a bill after my cleaning was completed, after the front desk lady and manager stated I didn’t have a pending payments, called to see why I was being billed and front desk could not explain to me why and said they would speak to the manager. A couple days later I receive a text stating nothing was due.

Negative experience: Absolute worst experience ever. Was told at time of appointment that my insurance was accepted. After my visit they told me that my insurance is no longer accepted and I needed to pay. This place is a total scam! 100% bait and switch business model. Stay away from this location.

Fantastic experience: The hygienist is thorough and gentle, and she makes the cleaning and checkup a pleasurable experience.

Fantastic experience: A veneer popped off Thursday evening and I called Castle Dental on Friday to schedule an appointment. They sat me up with Dr Mathis that afternoon. He was friendly and did an excellent job repairing my veneer. Highly recommend Dr Mathis.

Fantastic experience: In the lobby you have ten chairs and all occupied which made me uneasy; but after sitting for a few minutes I realize how fast people were being called and more kept coming. Once I stepped in where the rubber meets the road, I saw ten cubicles all infront of each other, it was love at first sight.The staff was the icing on the cake.

Negative experience: As a doctor, I strongly urge you to reconsider going to this dental office. If I could give 0 stars, I would. 1. Unethical Practices: The dental hygienist told me I had bone loss and gum pockets of 4mm–5mm (which would indicate disease), recommending an expensive and invasive deep cleaning before I could get a standard cleaning. I requested my X-rays and got multiple second opinions—none found bone loss, and my gum pockets were no deeper than 3mm (which is normal). 2. Difficult Communication: It is extremely hard to get in touch with them. The phone system puts you on hold indefinitely, and their website for scheduling appointments wasn’t working. I had to pretend to be a new patient just to speak to someone. 3. Unusual Appointment Process: Unlike most offices, their new patient exam is separate from their cleaning exam, adding unnecessary time and inconvenience. 4. A Note on the Dentist: My interactions with Dr. Mathis were positive, but the hygienist’s dishonesty ruined the experience. If Dr. Mathis cares about patient trust, he should not allow these practices to continue. Final Thoughts: As a doctor, I take “do no harm” seriously. Unnecessary deep cleanings cause both financial and physical harm. I cannot recommend this office unless they make serious changes.

After the titanium implant was put into my jaw I was told it would be 4 months until someone would be in touch regarding next steps. Positive experience: The Castle Dental staff was excellent. The Doctor and his assistant were very professional. They both did a superb exam and explained the review in complete detail. The Dental hygienist was also very professional and performed an excellent cleaning. The only reason I reviewed my visit as a 4 was due to the inadequate neck support of the dental chair. It didn't cradle my neck or have any cushion. As far as I could see it could not be adjusted. The staff offered a neck pillow but the strain in one position during the exam caused a great deal of discomfort due to my neck sensitivity. Thanks

Fantastic experience: My very first visit with this dentist office. It was full of polite and sweet individuals. Took X-rays and examined me in a very caring passion. I felt fine leaving and felt that they were very knowledgeable and trustworthy. My new regular dental place from now on!

Negative experience: Never had service. Was told 10 minutes grace period was not met. Appointment on text had 2:10 pm, got there at 2:20 (traffic). Got there receptionist says appointment was at 2pm. Showed text ,I guess it didn't matter. Family been going there for years , may change dental.

Fantastic experience: These folks got me in fast and out fast. Just needed a quick fix on one front tooth. Did a perfect job filling my tooth. It had to be fixed before attending a wedding. Much appreciated for a great experience. I’ll be back.

Negative experience: Absolutely horrible. 5 year client and have driven to 3 separate appointments to be told “we don’t even have you in our system!” Unbelievable! Walked back and the dentist refused to even work me in. Just a small cavity. I’m calling Humana today to file a complaint. I’m sick of the constant turnover and excuses why they can’t honor appointments. Pathetic really. Maybe it’s all of the Medicaid stuff but I’m not sure. I spent $980 there maybe 2 months ago.

Negative experience: The dentist may be wonderful (I don't know) but i waited an hour and fifteen minutes with no communication/information, to find out that there were technology problems with the x-ray machine. Unfortunately, I didn't stick around to find out if the dentist is wonderful or not :)

Positive experience: Work done 10/10 Now when the appointment was issues as a last minute on my part changing my dental plan due to tooth pain. But it was not disclosed to me that they scheduled a specialist and not a general for my root canal ... that jumped my out of pocket cost quite a bit and I was already there off work and laying down so I had to pay or suffer longer for something that wasn't disclosed till I was off work and laying on a bed. Disclosing information like that should be a priority. But the work done 10/10

Positive experience: Actual dentistry is great, but lots of moving the appointment around (one time it was moved while I was in the car on my way to the appointment) and miscommunications.

Fantastic experience: Fatima is the best dental hygienist I have ever experienced. She educates as she cleans, and takes time to be thorough in her explanation of my dental needs. Dr. Mathis is also extremely skilled And honest. He will not upcharge you for treatments you don’t need. Although I have good health insurance, I don’t have dental insurance, and I was happy to learn that they had a great program for cash payers that is deeply discounted for affordability. You can also get in for an appointment quite quickly, not needing to wait months 6-7 months like most dental offices. I highly recommend Castle Dental

Positive experience: The actual service there is fine. The dentist is nice and they always handle things well. The major concern with this location is they are ALWAYS behind. Sometimes hours behind regardless of how early your appointment is. I have had to reschedule more than not due to the schedule being so far behind.

Negative experience: Well, where to begin here… I was originally scheduled in June of 2023. The receptionist asked me if one person could go in front of me as it “would be a quick procedure”. That procedure ended up having a medical emergency and I waited in the waiting room for over 2 hours with no word on my appointment. When I asked, they told me it would probably be another 1-2 hours due to the medical emergency. I rescheduled for August. I get a call in August that they overbooked appointments and needed to reschedule me. Various other reschedulings later, I went in for my Dec 2023 appointment. There were about 7-8 patients in front of me due to another “medical emergency”. Three people got up and left as they had been waiting multiple hours and there was no end in site for when the only surgeon they have available for exactly ONE DAY A MONTH would be able to get to them. They told me I would have to wait roughly 3 hours for my appointment. An appointment I had scheduled at 1pm and had been fasting for already. Due to the one surgeon available, they overbook for the days that the surgeon is available, and any time a person maybe experiences a dental emergency it becomes a complete disaster with people waiting. I absolutely do not recommend this place, both times I went it was a complete disaster.

I've had some not so good experiences at other dentist offices, I'm So Happy to say, This is the Best dentist office I've ever been to in all my 50+ years! Fantastic experience: Beginning with the front desk staff, the dental assistant and most importantly the doctor made me feel welcome. The entire staff was wonderful! I had a family emergency and needed to get things done before I left. The Dentist and Lab were kindly able to work me into their schedule. Even though I was worked in, the services were of the highest quality. I would recommend the doctor, in house lab and all their staff to anyone looking for their services.

Negative experience: I always had a great experience , however for my last appointment I was rescheduled 5 times. I have been trying to get an appointment since May (it’s September) they call me one day before almost end of the day to tell me they have to reschedule me again. I don’t know if it’s short staffed or what but it’s a shame

Fantastic experience: I've been a regular patient of Dr. Mathis and his staff for more than twenty years. They've been outstanding.

Negative experience: I’ve never booked a dentist appointment about a month out and then gotten there and been told that they don’t have time to do a cleaning and only had time to do a check up. I think it’s super creepy that a dentist wouldn’t have you do a routine cleaning before they check on your teeth especially if your first time patient. But somehow the hygienist note, only one single hygienist, there didn’t have time for me. Made the easy decision to switch dentists. This place is creepy and the receptionist paid no attention to me when I got there and then when I checked at the desk 25 minutes after I came in and asked if there was a delay because it was a workday and I was taking time out of my work day. She was busy talking about throwing parties on a new patio with the others. save yourself the time and don’t even bother with this place

Fantastic experience: Staff was very friendly. Had some fillings and the doctor was very effecient. Quickest I've ever had fillings put in.

Fantastic experience: This was my first visit to a dentist in good while. Dr Mathis was very thorough and helpful. He explained my problems and offered different options. Ms. Fatima not only was professional in what she does, she was very nice and friendly. The staff were also friendly and nice. RECOMMEND

Fantastic experience: My former dentist unfortunately passed away. He was a very kind and caring man. I didn't think I would ever find another dentist like him until a friend recommended Dr. Tim Mathis at Castle Dental in Franklin. Very polite and friendly staff. Dr. Mathis took time to sit and listen to my concerns. I will definitely keep him as my dentist.

Negative experience: They just take all your money and don't even fix the problem. My mom went in to get a few cavities filled and the dentist ended up damaging the nerve in her tooth and for like a week now she's had to deal with tooth pain so excruciating she's unable to sleep from it. We now have an appointment for somewhere else. For the sake of your dental health and money don't go here.

Negative experience: My first experience was great my second not so much I was scheduled for a tooth extraction and 6pm the day before I get a call saying he doesn’t have the strength to pull it I would have to go to an oral surgeon even though he told me multiple times he could get the tooth out also an oral surgeon is probably triple the price would not be so bad with advance warning since I wasted a vacation day

Negative experience: Have always had good experience with Castle and Dr. Mathis. But yesterday had to see the doctor that handles implants for a consultation. Doctor was nice. my appointment was at 8 am, finally got in the back at 8:30, i had to be at work at 9, so i only had 10 minutes which was fine because the Consult was less than 5 minutes, and i had to pay $165.00. So no, I'm not happy with the visit

Fantastic experience: Absolutely love this place! I’ve never been excited to go to the dentist before I needed a deep cleaning and called for an appointment, I got an appointment the next day and an amazing hygienist to clean my teeth! Shout out to Kelsey!! She was GREAT and VERY thorough!! My teeth feel great and look better than ever!! Highly recommend this place and ask for Kelsey!! ☺️

Negative experience: Absolutely terrible experience. Everyone in this establishment is a joke. The lack of care for patients is concerning and is a wonder they are still open. I gave them so many tries it's not even funny. My last visit was the cherry on top. I had a pain so excruciating I couldn't sleep or eat. I called to make an appointment and see if I could get medication to hold me over til I was seen. I waited 2 hrs and still no meds being processed. I called back and I was told Dr. Mathis was busy he would call it in when he got done with a patient. 2 more hrs went by, no meds. I call back tell them how much pain I was in and the smart girl at the front desk told me I'd receive a phone call from the pharmacy when it was ready. I reminded her my pharmacy had changed for the SECOND time. 2 more hours pass by its an hour before they close, I call and they won't answer the phone. I never received my antibiotics because they supposedly called the wrong pharmacy which was a lie because I never got a phone call from them either that it was ready. Finally appointment day and he won't see me until the assistant comes in fashionably late. I had an abscess. So I'm told to take antibiotics for a week and come back. I had a 930 appt to not be seen until 1030 for literally 3 minutes. No xray was done to see if the infection had got better, he just asked if I was in pain, I said no and told me he was going to prescribe me another round of antibiotics and not to come back until I finished it in 2 weeks. This visit costed me 30 dollars and the one before where i got an xray done was 20...are they making prices up??

Fantastic experience: Had some work done and from start to finish I have this to share. The staff were professional, very attentive, very engaged with me, fitting me into a tight schedule. I appreciate their efforts very much. My dentists and her staff clearly have clearly worked together as a team for some time and were outstanding. Going to the dentist isn't my idea of a fun afternoon, however, this was a good experience.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Mathis is phenomenal!! I was nervous & embarrassed about how my teeth looked. He told me my options without passing judgment and helped me get my smile back. I recommend him to anyone!! He also has 30 years of experience!! If you are interested in dentures or implants he is the doctor for you!!

Negative experience: Biggest waste of my time... I showed up early to fill out paperwork then sat in the waiting room for 45 minutes!!! They weren't even that busy. They just kept telling me to wait. Time is money people!
