First Impressions Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics

Fantastic experience: My daughter has gone to First Impressions in Suamico 4 times now (since she was 18 months old). This last appointment was her first time in the “big chair” and her first time going back without me since she recently turned 3. She was nervous going in but came out with the biggest smile on her face and told me she loves the dentist now and is excited to go back. They are SO wonderful with kids and I highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: I brought my kids here for their first dentist appointments and they were absolutely phenomenal. They made my kids feel so comfortable and at ease and the whole experience went very smoothly. They were very professional, provided excellent care, and were extremely helpful.

They always try to make the appointments for both of my kids at the same time because they know we are traveling far and I appreciate that so much. The staff is always informative, receptionists are always very helpful and most importantly my children feel comfortable there. I highly recommend First Impressions Pediatric Dentistry.

Fantastic experience: We just moved to the area and needed a new dentist. My oldest she’s always done so well at the dentist and said she loved it here. My youngest is 4 and has never loved doctors or dentist appointments but he absolutely went back by himself and came back out with a smile. He talks so positive now. Everyone in that building is so respectful and amazing with the kids. Thank you for the great experience!

Negative experience: Update--They did send me to collections. I was contacted by them after writing my initial review to remedy the situation. They sent me an updated statement, which I paid immediately. Yet I am still getting notices that I have a balance in collections. My youngest son was seen here for his 6 month exams and cleanings. When I was there, I requested--before he was brought back for treatment--that he NOT have a fluoride varnish treatment applied, not because I am against this, but because my insurance does not cover the full amount (at the price of $87) and he is able to get fluoride treatments in school 3 times a year FOR FREE. I didn't even know he had it applied until I received the bill. I gave them the benefit of the doubt, that it may have been a mistake and called to question them about it. They did not return my call as stated, and now they are threatening to send me to collections for my "continued silence" on the matter. If they would have made this right, my feelings would be much different. I intend to pay the bill and move on, but I do not intend to return as I do not feel like my wishes were respected.

Fantastic experience: First Impressions is a wonderful place for children! My daughter went in terrified and came out with a smile on her face. All staff were kind, gentle and nurturing! We are so thankful. Highly recommend the Suamico dental office

Negative experience: I gave consent for my child to have sealants done on a few molars. The process was taking a while and after it was finished, I was informed that they also sealed several more teeth because "insurance covered it." They should have gotten my parental permission first before doing more treatment than what was initially agreed upon. I highly recommend looking elsewhere for a dentist because of the lack of transparency/communication involving my child's care.

Fantastic experience: They do such a great job making sure the kids have a great experience! My daughter had two teeth pulled and was very scared. The hygienist and dentist were great with her and made sure she understood what was happening and made her comfortable!

Fantastic experience: My 2 year old has been to First Impressions 3 times now for routine cleanings and she looks forward to it each time. The staff is incredibly kind and patient. The office does a great job at making kids feel comfortable and happy to be there. There is a nice slide in the waiting room to keep your kids busy and not anticipating the appointment if nervous. Once they’re taken back, they get a goody bag after cleanings (a huge bonus for my daughter as she gets very excited for her next appt to get a goody bag haha). At the age of 3, the children go back without parents to the “big kid” treatment room which is open concept vs separate rooms for each kid. I know this is controversial, but I love it because I know my daughter will feel more comfortable being treated in a room with other kids. They have tvs with popular kids favorites over each chair so your kid can kick back and enjoy a treat/distraction while getting their teeth taken care of. I just wish I had a dentist office like this as a kid! Highly recommend

Fantastic experience: This place is amazing. My son was scared and Heather the dental hygienist did such a. Wonderful job. So did the Dentist.

Positive experience: It is good but once time, we were late 15 minutes due to road close. They refued to see my daughter even I called them and informed them ahead. If we had late often then I was not mind. But We usually be there 30 minutes before the appt since we started seen them.

Fantastic experience: Could not reccomend them more! The waiting room is amazing, a great way for kids to combat the anxiety of waiting for their appt! The staff is also incredible. My son has ASD and I let them know before his appt, they remembered me mentioning it and tailored his experience to suit his needs. Overall appointment was fun, the staff so kind and able to work with my 18 month old and 3 year old smoothly.

Negative experience: Go anywhere else if you want proper and professional care for your children. My daughter had tried gas to get cavities filled 4 times and when I switched to this dentist I told them she would need to be put under as we have tried many times. They agreed and her dad took her in and afterwards I was told they tried gas again and it didnt work. They then said her tooth would probably get worse and have to be pulled because they wouldn't be able to get her in again for a couple months. Unacceptable. I told them so and also that they could not charge for that appointment as we did not ask for the services they chose to proceed with against our wishes. We weren't even allowed to go back to the room so we had no idea they were doing gas again until they said it didn't work. After waiting a month for them to get insurance approvals for putting her under completely instead of gas, they say they can't get her in until next year. I expressed that this was just crazy how they handled the entire situation and that I would sue if they charged for that appointment. Fast forward to a week later after that conversation and my son has a separate appointment with them and his dad arrives and they tell him they canceled it because they don't like that we are upset about how they handled our daughter's case. They didn't call to cancel his appointment and in fact sent the text appointment reminder. Completely wasting our time and my son and daughter now have to wait to see a dentist somewhere else. They couldn't hold themselves accountable for their mistakes. Zero integrity or professionalism. Update: Dental Associates was able to get my daughter in and complete the dental work from start to finish in 3 weeks. We started with First Impressions in July and they said they could do the work needed in January after taking a month to even call us back to schedule...almost 6 months in total compared to 3 weeks.

Fantastic experience: We switched to First Impressions from another pediatric dental clinic a few months back due to a major lack of patience on their part with my son. I am so glad we made the switch, what a night and day difference. My son is nine and needed to have three crowns done, everyone at First Impressions was so good with him and made him feel completely comfortable. Their staff is very friendly and welcoming from the moment you walk through the door, top notch!

Fantastic experience: Never would think my kid would try to fake a cavity and tooth pain just to go to the dentist.

Fantastic experience: The staff is very accommodating for my ASD toddler. Very thorough and kind.

Negative experience: I have had nothing but great experiences at this dental office until today. I specifically said no fluoride for one of my kids due to some issues my child has. When my child came to the car, I was told that the hygienist was persuading my child to get the fluoride and to think about it being done next time. I would appreciate my decision to be respected or I will take my business elsewhere.

Negative experience: I took my child here when he was 5. The dentist said he had 4 cavities in his back 4 teeth, needed crowns and general anesthesia for the procedure and that the procedure would be done at St. Mary’s hospital. I said heck no. I’m an RN and massive decay (to the extent they were saying) would be able to be seen to the naked eye. He had no pain, no complaints, no holes in his teeth. I waited 6 months and took him to my general dentist. My dentist said he had 0 cavities. After another 6 months, I took him to Kids Dental Experts and again 0 cavities. He is now almost 12 and has had regular dental cleanings every 6 months, and 0 cavities. This place is a fraud. I would highly recommend Kids Dental Experts for pediatric dentistry, not First Impressions. Could you imagine if I would have just blindly trusted them? The unnecessary procedure they would have put my child through! Still makes me sick to this day. Run fast and far from this place!

Fantastic experience: Stress free experience. Highly recommend the practice! The entire atmosphere put my daughter at ease. Amanda reassured us before the visit started while explaining the cleaning process. Amanda was professional, caring and so helpful throughout! There is a clear treatment plan and pricing transparency. Willow is looking forward to a healthier smile soon and excited to tell everyone about her extra tooth!

Fantastic experience: I drive 45 extra minutes each way to take my kids to the Suamico location. They are the most pleasant, organized, kind, and efficient dental experience I’ve ever had especially for my kids. The way they handle our children is with the upmost tenderness and care and are committed to making their dental experience positive for life. I recommend them to everyone.

Fantastic experience: My son had his first visit there today. The front office staff greeted us by name and were very friendly. Dr. Jennifer was amazing and Amanda, his hygienist took her time to make sure our experience went well. Our son has Autism and has sensory issues so visiting the dentist has always been a big struggle. This was a great experience all the way around.

Fantastic experience: My son just turned 3 so it was his first visit that he went back without us and got X-rays and such. They explained everything very thoroughly for us and made the whole process so easy and stress free. He did an amazing job!

Fantastic experience: My son has been going here for 7 years. He likes the hygienists and the environment. I really like that the hygienist that will be working with my son that day, comes out to introduce themself, and let me know what they will be doing. They also come out with my son, and let me know how things went. Pam at the desk is always so nice and helpful. So glad we chose first impressions!!

Cannot say enough good things about this place!! One of my kids had apt and was seen but I had a concern about my 2nd child who wasn't scheduled but she still offered to take him back to have a look! Fantastic experience: My 9 year old with severe dental anxiety had his first visit with this clinic today. Amanda M. And Dr. Jennifer were both amazing! I came to the clinic feeling ashamed of the dental work that my son needed. We had brought him to a local dentist who was unable to do any work on him even with laughing gas. I felt defeated. We left the appointment feeling confident and with a treatment plan in place. Nether Amanda if Dr. Jennifer made me feel like a bad parent like my sons previous dentist did. They also completely resolved his dental fears. It was absolutely with the drive to have a positive experience.

Fantastic experience: Amazing! I am so happy we made the switch to this dentist. My 9 year old and my 3 year old had an appointment a few weeks before my 6 year old. It was my 3 year olds first dental visit. The hygienist and dentist were incredibly gentle and patient. My two kids came home telling the 6 year old how much he was going to love this dentist and how much fun they had. When we arrived to my 6 year olds appointment a few weeks later, I was happy to see he was working with the same hygienist, Amanda. After his appointment he told her, “I see why my sisters like it here so much; it’s because you are so nice.” I am blown away that kids can have such a positive dental experience. Even if my insurance changes, I will not be switching dentists. They are that good.

Positive experience: Cons: I really do not like how the dentist doesn’t come out themselves and talk to me. I’d like to know who’s working on my child. I had some bad experiences with Jennifer when my children were young. A lot of other parents also asked why I would have them cap my child’s teeth since they were baby teeth, which had me thinking also. Pros: the kids love the things to do before and after seeing the dentist. (Playground, games). The techs are super nice and the kids love them. The office ladies are super informative and nice as well.

They try their best to make it a fun experience and never push her too much! They meet her where she is at to try to help make each next appointment a step better than the last! Positive experience: It’s time to stop forcing masks. Seriously. You are working in mouths. Doesn’t make much sense. Actually none of it does. Make us leave the waiting room to wait outside because we don’t mask. Probably should have closed the whole place down at that point since we already walked in mask free and breathed and exhaled the air. Majority aren’t wearing masks correctly anyway. How does putting a thin gator or bandanna over my mouth make you feel safe? ‍♀️

Positive experience: I like our locations first impressions and my son seems to enjoy it as well. The ladies were very nice and my son luckily had a great report!! My son’s father and I are UPSET though to see after being told no fluoride, they have checked they did the fluoride anyway. They’ve done this every time. Even more annoying is we were asked if he could have fluoride or not and I said NO thank you. They did it anyway.

Fantastic experience: Great experience here. Staff are kind and friendly and really focused on the kids. Headphones and TVs on the ceiling are the kids favorite Dr. Stevens is great!

Fantastic experience: Best place for your children!! I have a 1 year old and he will be going here along with his sister who does for the past 3 year! I wouldn't take my kids anywhere else!! AMAZING, NICE staff who make you feel comfortable! Plus the play area is a huge bonus!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Negative experience: I am medically exempt and unable to wear a mask. I did not walk in sick with a cold nor a fever, yet I was informed by dental assistant per Dentist Jennifer wanted for me to exit the building and wait in my car while my children are examined. This is the last time I come here for any dental services. Taking my children's needs elsewhere. If I could give this a 0, I would. This is not a place that will accommodate anyone with medical exemptions, so stay away they will not honor medical exemptions. People are not even wearing their masks properly and they are sitting in the waiting area...Medical Exemptions do exist and not everyone can wear a mask. Also a parent cannot go with their child as they are taken to get examined or get treatment. This is not normal.

Negative experience: Horrible experience. The procedure was so poorly explained to me that I thought my 3 year old was just getting a cavity filled when she was actually getting a pulpotomy and a silver crown. Of course I wasn’t allowed back with her even though I could hear her crying and after the appointment she was inconsolable and traumatized. She says she never wants to go to back to the dentist again and that it hurt horribly and when she asked for me she was told no. She also says she was not given anything to breathe in when I paid for nitrous oxide. $300 out of pocket for a silver crown that you can see when she smiles and a traumatic experience that I was not able to witness so I have no idea what actually happened. We will be seeing a new dentist that will allow parents to accompany their young children.

Fantastic experience: Excellent experience for my kids. The best take away is that my kids love brushing their teeth now.

Negative experience: I find it difficult to understand why I cannot accompany my child to the office and have to wait in the car. Health clinics and hospitals are allowing 1 parent to accompany children to appointments. The receptionist was also very rude.

Negative experience: I would give negative 10 stars if I could. I have NEVER been treated so badly by a company/practice in my life. I was told that a staff member would come take my 3 year old from me while I waited in the car for the duration of her dental cleaning appointment. When and where is this EVER ok? I understand this is during covid pandemic but to protect us all, face masks are required and oddly enough, I can walk into a Walmart with my family as long as we are complying to the mandate. Don't ever tell a parent they are not allowed to be present at their child's appointment! This is 100% WRONG. I have checked with more than a dozen people for their input on this ludicrous demand and they were ALL in agreement with me. I also checked with 6 other dental offices so far and each one has shared they would never demand this of a parent/patient!! ENOUGH SAID!!

Fantastic experience: The boys came out of the dentist saying “That was awesome!” Amanda, the hygienist was so nice and friendly. She did a great job explaining everything to me about the kids’ teeth.
