Experiencia fantástica: This office is the best! My 5 year old actually LOVES going to the dentist. The entire staff and doctors from Jessica the Assistant to Maddie at the front desk to Drs. Donna and Alexandria Thomas are the best in the business!

Experiencia fantástica: Having FOUR sons, we frequent the dentist. Most of the time for happy visits and cleanings, but even when a cavity arises, I trust this group whole heartedly. Dr. Hawkinson is a great dentist & so patient with the kids. The hygienists are all well experienced, explain things in “kid terms” as they go & reward the kids for their behavior. Below someone was outraged by the slushies (yes I laughed at your outrage) they are sugar free & for a child, like my son, who had an extraction today, a frozen treat was earned. Billing answers all my insurance questions, scheduling is friendly, we all around love this office!

Experiencia fantástica: We love pediatric dental specialists!!! We have been going to the Lee's Summit location for 11yrs and before that the Overland Park location! From the front desk staff, to the hygienists and doctors we've never had a bad experience. With two through braces and a third in braces currently its nice to have everything in one location.

Experiencia negativa: We certainly will not be coming back. The procedure my daughter received was okay and I looked past some of the bedside mannerism and lack of education for post procedure. My issues are mainly with the billing department or lack thereof. Being told information and I assumed that my benefits were checked prior to, and then receiving a surprise $100 bill is a little frustrating. I am very aware of my dental benefits, had I known that things weren’t checked accordingly I would not have agreed to some imaging. I also called to speak with someone in the billing department, however often no one answers the phone live and it took about 1-2 months for someone to check with their manager before calling me back. So I’ve received two statements and now an added fee for being “late” when in actuality it’s due to lack of communication on the offices end.

Zero complaints, and I appreciate there is never any pressure to decide on a treatment plan on the spot. My son can barely fit in that chair but still likes going to his appointments!

Experiencia fantástica: I have 4 kids who are patients here and they all LOVE not only the atmosphere, but the incredible staff too! I never hear any whining when I say “it’s time to see the dentist!” They look forward to seeing familiar faces each time who treat them with slushies and a coin for the toy tower. My son had an emergency late one Saturday night and I was able to easily get ahold of one of the orthodontists immediately. She met us out in Leawood so quickly and saved his permanent teeth. They’re simply amazing!

Experiencia fantástica: We have been seeing Dr. Lopez for a few years and I love the standard of care she provides for regular dental checks and a emergency situation we recently had. She followed up to make sure my child is doing ok and that means a lot to my mom heart. My kiddo also looks forward to the toy towers at the end of each visit and overall loves going to the dentist!

Experiencia fantástica: The office was very friendly and welcoming, and the decor was absolutely adorable, so fun and inviting for kids. My son especially loved the cookie dough flavor to clean his teeth and getting a coin to pick out a toy after his appointment, which made the whole experience exciting for him. They even offered special iced drinks, which was such a thoughtful touch. Highly recommend for families!

Experiencia fantástica: My son had a sports related injury that knocked a couple of teeth out of place and Dr. Thomas and a team of others stayed late for us to get him in and get it fixed so we could save him from losing the teeth. They were all wonderful and helped ease our nerves and took the time to fix him up. I am forever grateful for all of them. They were the calm during our storm!

Experiencia negativa: Our experience here was terrible with the dentist. She was rude, impatient with me and my child. We need a tooth pulled and my child has Autism- high functioning. She talked all over me - not answering my questions. The assistant had to talk me through everything when the dentist left. The dentist refused to consider treatment options for my son- insisted he needed anesthesia and to do multiple corrections at once. Citing “malpractice” as the reason. She also under dosed the antibiotics my son needed - below even standard dosing per out pharmacist and the new dentist we went to instead. My son had his tooth pulled at a different dentist today- without anesthesia. He did very very well on the gas. We are also doing multiple visits for corrections at the new dentist- seems it is in fact possible. Maybe just not as expensive. Will never go back. Of note- the desk staff and assistants were great.

While he doesn’t enjoy going, he doesn’t fight to go see “the dinosaur dentist.” The staff is very friendly, and great about explaining everything to my son, as well as to me. I’ve already recommended them to friends, and will continue to do so.

Experiencia fantástica: I took my 2 year old here for his first dental visit. The waiting area was clean, and I had no worries as he enjoyed the various activities in the waiting area. The dinosaur theme is immersive, and kept him engaged enough to tolerate short waits after being taken back. The hygienist who cleaned his teeth was quick, efficient, engaging, and taught me how to floss his teeth. The dentist was kind and respectful, but also clear about what I could do better to support his dental health. Upon check-out they had already checked my insurance so I knew the cost of elective additional dental care should I choose to pursue it. I highly recommend Pediatric Dental Specialists!

Experiencia negativa: I came in to verify insurance coverage thinking you all would be helpful. I'm not sure why you have an insurance specialist if they aren't willing to verify coverage!?!?!? Your office owns the plan, not the other way around so telling me to call them is useless because they are going to say to call your office. Let me be clear, I inquired about being a new patient and had my insurance information in front of your staff for verification. You clearly didn't want to extend any help to a potential new client. I'm so happy to take my business elsewhere.

Experiencia negativa: The dentist is very nice and gentle with the kids. Her English is not great, but she does well to make them comfortable. The support staff, such as hygienists are slightly less than professional. They have fun games in the waiting room, and also offer a slushy (not a great example for a dentist), and a game token for a prize after the visit. The experience is overall decent. We had a visit that had to be cancelled by the dentist, due to illness. We rescheduled, which took some time to get in. We had a conflict arise, and needed to reschedule our daughter's appointment. They have a 48 hour cancellation policy. We left a voicemail, just after office hours 2 days prior to her appointment requesting to reschedule the appointment. It was rescheduled and they assessed a $75 cancellation fee. We understand that cancelling appointments can equal lost revenue. We called to see if we could discuss the circumstances and the amount of the fee. We were transferred to the office manager's voicemail. We left 3 or more messages, asking to simply discuss the fee. We never received a return call. We have since talked with some friends and all of whom have had similar issues with this dentist office. A little customer service could go a long way. We recommend you consider another dentist.

The quality of their dental work is terrible, resulting in breaking lees than a month later. The billing department is also extremely rude and misleading. They need to work on training the staff and communication with all the money that they take from their patients for terrible procedures. There are definitely better quality and more affordable dentist options. DO NOT VISIT ANY OF THE LOCATIONS

Experiencia fantástica: My wife had an amazing experience at this dental office, during an incredibly scary time. Our two year old had a dental emergency and had never been to the dentist before. She was so upset, but Dr. Hawkinson handled the situation in a proactive, compassionate, and calm manner. She was so kind and gentle towards our daughter. She did an incredible job and continued to follow up and check in with us to see how are daughter was recovering. All of the Dental Hygentists were so helpful, empathetic, and caring. I appreciate the incredible care and compassion that was shown to my wife and daughter.

Experiencia fantástica: Staff is able to work very well with children that have a fear of dental work including just cleanings. Busy offices but the Doctors will take all the time you need for things to be explained.

Experiencia negativa: We gave them a $1,000 down-payment for anesthetics. 5 days later no communication. They proceeded to get an attitude because we were calling and emailing "too often" in hopes to get this set up. Our children have been treated there for close to 8 and 4 years. We will take our business elsewhere.

Experiencia fantástica: My 4 year old had to come in for some dental work (1 crown & several fillings) and the nurses and staff of MAC were wonderful. I got updates on his progress every 15 minutes and they helped put me at ease. It was a huge relief that everyone was so helpful and kind.

Experiencia negativa: Dentist is great. Billing office is not. Guesstimating my benefits/coverage is not good. Assumed I had no coverage for NOS for my son and minimum coverages when in fact I have very good, above-par benefits. Still waiting over 10 months now for a refund even after providing them the EOBs several times. Doesn’t this hinge on unjust enrichment? So sad and unprofessional.

Experiencia fantástica: I've taken my two kids since 2007. My daughter once needed a filling and they were so gentle with her that she was totally unaware of even receiving a numbing shot. They have terms they use for procedures as to not alarm little ones. My children absolutely love it there! Very glad to know they can still go even when they are in high school and college since that's the only place they've known. I will have to look hard to find another place to match the kindness, professionalism and care they give. Best comments dentist in Kansas City imho.

Experiencia negativa: PLEASE READ: VERY HONEST REVIEW I have been bringing my kids here for last couple of years. I will say it is VERY kid friendly and my kids never mind going because of the toys and the video games and the slushies. HOWEVER they take you through at least an hour of paperwork every time you go even if nothing has changed-the most I have ever had to repeat in any office setting. Even though they make you do that, they do not update their system based on what you take your sweet time to fill out. They will bill the wrong insurance over and over and over again until you die. I have called I have emailed and they finally corrected it-but did not let me know. I had to hear it from my insurance. Secondly-We have been customers since my kids have had teeth. We used to go the location up North, but now live in Lee's Summit so we take them there. Since you make Dentist appointments 6 months in advance (again that's typical not complaining), there isn't really a way to know if you actually be free that day or not. When I called this morning to try and move my kids appointment, they told me I have to come or they won't get my kids in for another 5 months. That was kind of the last straw. I don't even mind pushing it out a month if they are busy, but this was the last straw. In summation: no problem with the actual dental care or kid friendly environment. Administrative staff will not do their job; will not communicate, will not update your insurance even after scanning it in 12 times, and will be very rude and refuse your kids service for half a year if you need to move appointments. I sincerely hope this place gets back to how it used to be.

Experiencia fantástica: We love Pediatric Dental Specialists in Lee's Summit, MO! The hygienists are great, the atmosphere is fun and comfortable and both of my kids have had great experiences here. I will say that my kids are not the greatest patients (i.e. loud, criers, afraid of pain). They do a great job of helping to calm them down, stay focused on the work and get the job done. We also used them for their ortho work and it was a great experience with great results! Highly recommend!
