Experiencia negativa: I had an appointment a week out for Friday they didnt have my appontment for friday scheduled due to changing systems lost my app rescheduled that for Monday asked Monday when I left with my Wednesday still good called me Tuesday the next day told me there's no hygienist wensday just like Friday they told me there was no doctor 3 times in less than a week. I can't afford to keep missing work do not recommend.

Dr. Worsham is fantastic and if you had the absurdly tall and kind dentist he is at his own practice Celebrate Dental & Braces right off Euclid and they are fantastic

Experiencia negativa: First the don't return your call when you have extrem tooth pain. Second they play music that is not kid friendly with profanity !! Lastly they will drill on a tooth without numbing them, is this normal or ok ?!?! NO !!!

Experiencia fantástica: My daughter had a such a wonderful experience at this dental office! Everyone was so kind and welcoming. Her hygienist was absolutely amazing, patient, and very gentle, which made her feel so comfortable! The doctor was also so wonderful-so caring, gentle and truly the best. I really appreciate how great they were with my daughter and how comfortable they made her feel. And being open on a Saturday is such a huge plus for busy families! We had an amazing experience and would definitely recommend this office to anybody!

Experiencia negativa: Ankeny Smiles is no longer the dental office it was a few years ago. For a couple months last spring, they stopped answering their phones and returning calls. They would leave me messages that they wanted to reschedule an appointment last minute but would never pick up the phone when I tried to get ahold of them. There was a complete turn over of staff. The new staff didn't seem to care about patients. When I called about a crown that fell off, the office manager scolded me saying that this was the third time they had to put the crown on. It seemed cheap so I'm not surprised it kept falling off. They decided to remove my tooth instead of taking further action. There were a couple of times I felt like I was being manhandled while in the chair. Especially when I had the first impressions taken for my new partial. The person who was tasked with that did not ask how I was doing and ignored my questions. When I received the new partial, it fit so badly that it cut into my gums and cheeks. It also slid back and forth. I was told that was normal. Really? They didn't offer to have the cheap partial remade or customized to fit my mouth. I was in severe pain for months. I came in later reminding them that it still didn't fit. At that time, I had a severe tooth ache. When I came in, no xrays were taken. They put a raised crown like dental material over the tooth. I told them that I no longer had an even bite and the pain was only getting worse. I finally had enough. I switched dentists. The new dental office told me that the material put over my tooth wouldn't help because my tooth was cracked right down the middle. How did Ankeny Smiles miss that? I hope that things are getting better at Ankeny Smiles but I will never go back there. I do not recommend Ankeny Smiles to anyone. There are great dental offices out there I finally found one now.

Experiencia negativa: Absolutely terrible, terrible care and customer service. I would give no stars if I could. They failed to provide the proper care and services. Failed to communicate with their patient, and provide the needed information for after care after a in-office procedure. Made the patient “hold” their own head down on how much force they were using to extract a tooth. The provider did not provide the patient with an interpreter after they requested one. Stated “he knew a little Spanish” but not sufficient enough to hold a conversation with their patient. No business specifically in healthcare should ever justify themselves to know a language, without the proper certification. The provider arrived 30 minutes late to see patient, after a few minutes and minimal communication, dentist left and said nothing to patient. Such a horrible experience, and will never return again.

Experiencia negativa: Went in for a tooth extraction. Waited an hour to be seen. Upfront they told me the prescription mouthwash would be $25 out of pocket because my insurance wouldn't cover it. I declined. Finally taken back to a room where they took my blood pressure with an small wrist machine you can buy at the drugstore. Was left unattended while the machine read each time. The cuff about popped off my wrist both times and I was told they wouldn't be able to pull my tooth if they couldn't get a reading. Finally, got a reading because I held the cuff together with my other hand. Dentist had a very brisk demeanor and was unsettlingly eager to pull my tooth. A couple of days later, I thought I had a dry socket and felt something sharp poking out of the gums in that spot. I had to call several times throughout the day before anyone picked up. They couldn't get me in for 2 weeks. I finally got in with my regular dentist who was confused about them trying to charge me for the mouthwash. My dentist prescribed it and it went through my insurance without an issue. Did not have a dry socket, but the sharp piece sticking out of the gum was a shard of tooth. 0/10 will not go back.

Experiencia negativa: Worst experience ever at a dentist. I traveled from grimes to ankeny for a teeth cleaning. I was seated and took about 30 xrays. They had a dentist look at my teeth and was told that my pregnant wife whom also was there for a teeth cleaning deserved the attention that day and that my teeth were great and to schedule a second visit for a teeth cleaning so they could focus on her. Upon leaving my fiance and i were talking and they basically did the same thing to her. This place is a scam and assume they are taking advantage of medicaid and committing insurance fraud. I would go elsewhere.

Experiencia negativa: I do not recommend this place. I have been coming to this dentist office religiously for over a year and still don’t have all my teeth. They don’t answer their phones and lie to you and my top denture isn’t straight

Experiencia negativa: This place is very hit or miss. I debated giving one star, but in fairness, there were two dental hygienists I consistently had positive experiences with. That said, an older male dentist was incredibly rude to me on multiple occasions and often talked down to me. Communication was also a constant issue. Sometimes they would answer the phone or return calls, and other times they wouldn't. Most recently, they canceled an appointment without offering a new date. I called three separate times to get rescheduled, left messages each time, and never received a call back. Unfortunately, that wasn't the first time something like that happened. The overall experience often felt rushed, like they were trying to push as many patients through as possible. You never really knew what kind of experience you were going to get when you walked in. I recently got new insurance and was finally able to go elsewhere. The difference in how I was treated was night and day. It honestly made me realize just how poor the service at Ankeny Smiles had been.

Experiencia negativa: UPDATE as of 04/28/26 — the surgeon completely left a chunk of tooth in my gums that is now infected and I have to get another extraction. My dentist was genuinely confused as to why he never removed it and left it there. I was told it was a piece of bone when I left but now my dentist has confirmed it was a root of a tooth. I had to get 14 teeth extracted for partial dentures. I was so nervous of judgement and the pain but the dentist was so sweet and reassuring. He did work REALLY fast which I liked because it gave me less time to panick or chicken out but if this is something you don’t like, it may be a problem. He was numbing me up within 30 seconds of being in the room without much notice. But I work better that way. I got to keep my teeth but has to wait an extra hour for sterilization. The only complaint I had is that i started to feel pain with one extraction and alerted the dentist immediately. He said “I see your hand but just one more tug and it’s out, okay?” And just ripped it out without more numbing. It hurt so bad for a split second and I felt it but after that, it was immediate relief and I felt nothing. They also gave me the tiniest pack of gauze for the drive home and I bled all over my clothes and car. Definitely bring your own gauze.

Experiencia fantástica: It went great! Front office girls were sweet and polite. I showed up a little early and was able to get in sooner! I had the worst anxiety. I didn’t catch the dentist name but he was very attentive was so nice, wanted me to be comfortable and know I was in good hands! His kinds words truly made it easier for me. Went very fast. Wisdom teeth taken out! They are extremely busy but they are moving through great from what I seen.

Experiencia negativa: If I could give zero stars, I would. DO NOT GO HERE, it is the most unprofessional dentist's office I have ever been to. I waited 30 minutes past my scheduled appointment time and when she finally took me back for x-rays, she pulled down her lip for me to see her "huge bump" from biting it so much. Disgusting. Next, she put in a room and left. The dentist comes in and before he even introduces himself, a tech comes in to tell him some other orthodontist is there and "wants to shake his hand". The guy just leaves the room without even explaining himself and is gone for almost 10 minutes! He finally comes back in and without even looking in my mouth said, "I'm the guy that pulls teeth. Do you want to pull it?" I came in for GUM pain. He goes on to tell me my x-rays are not diagnostic and THEN decides to look in my mouth for about 10 seconds before he says, "There's no hole in your tooth. You have a little periodontal disease. We can pull the tooth. Do you want me to pull the tooth?" I pressed him for more options (I was already freaked out by the whole thing). He then says, "If the hygienist is available we can have her come do some scraping, but I don't know if she can." I tell him I'd like to ask her. He says, "I'm going to numb you for her then" and the tech asks, "Should I see if she's available before you numb her?" The guy said no! He just sticks a giant needle in my gums- twice- without even knowing if the hygienist can help me!!! Finally she comes in, does the scraping, etc then the dentist comes back and starts telling me how indigenous people would have put salt on a wound, how the trees in FL rely on salt- he was just there visiting his brother- so I should gargle with salt water. Then he gets up and leaves. I could not get out of there fast enough! It was the fricken twighlight zone!

Experiencia negativa: I don’t even want to give them stars I’ve called this place for a week straight left voicemails and everything and even if I get someone on the phone they say give me a moment puts me on hold then hangs up I’ve called this place more than 30 times with no answer goes straight to voicemail I highly don’t recommend going to this place at all very unprofessional and disrespectful

Experiencia negativa: I have been looking for a new dental provider since I had to leave my previous dentist of 10 years due to insurance conflicts. I reached out to Dental Smiles 2 weeks ago and left a message to speak with the dental office manager just to get some information about their dental office and their providers. It has been 2 weeks now and I have not received a call back. If this is any indication of what I could expect should I ever become a patient at Dental Smiles, I don't think that this office would be the perfect fit for me. First impressions mean a lot and if this office can't seem to find the time to provide a courtesy call back, this is definitely not the dental office I would trust my dental care to.

The level of customer service was poor from start to finish—communication was unclear, follow-ups were lacking, and concerns were not handled professionally. In addition to that, their business practices were questionable. Billing was confusing, policies were not transparent, and there was little accountability when issues were brought to their attention. A business in healthcare should operate with integrity, clarity, and respect for patients, and unfortunately, this establishment fell short in all of those areas. I would not recommend this practice to anyone looking for reliable, ethical, and professional dental care.

Experiencia fantástica: I walk in with my daughter and felt very comfortable and welcoming once I saw the African American history book on display check in was ok and everyone was busy moving and saying thank you and I got it the doctor was great explaining to my child what he was about to do and made sure we both understood..I hope I can return with my child I like it great job everyone at Ankeny smiles

I found Ankeny Smiles after that experience, and I’ve been very impressed. Everyone has been amazing and extremely attentive. The front desk staff and hygienist were beyond helpful, and the owner was there and took the time to explain everything in detail, which truly helped me feel comfortable and at ease.

Experiencia fantástica: I’ve been bringing my kids to Ankeny Smiles for quite a few years. It’s become such a welcoming place that the kids have no gripe when it’s time to visit. The people who work there are what makes it so special. Each human you get to see brings their own kindness and warmth. I can’t recommend this dentist office enough. 10/10

I don’t think it took 10 minutes!! They girls in the back were all smiles. The explained everything very well and were also very understanding all the while their smiles never faded. The doctor that worked on me was also very nice and he was efficient and knowledgeable and what he does. Explained what he was doing each time. I think the owner is doing an awesome job!! I left the office very grateful and I appreciate all the smiles and all their hard work.. By far the friendliest atmosphere in a dental establishment I’ve ever been!! I’ve just decided,…. I’m keeping them

I called the number that was left in my voicemail box and it’s still going to voicemail. The number the voicemail reads back to me isn’t even the number I called. I even left you guys a voicemail asking for a call back…

Experiencia negativa: Honestly, I immediately didn’t think I was going to like this place as soon as I walked in for my first appointment. The floors were extremely dirty (I had an early morning appointment and there hadn’t been any bad weather that would justify the floors being that bad) and the lobby smelled weird, but I decided to still give them a chance. The floors were also noticeably dirty in the exam room. The staff was very nice and friendly but I have never been more sore from a dental cleaning than after the one I got here. In fact, I’ve never been sore from a dental cleaning at all prior to my experience here. Despite all that, I scheduled a follow up for a filling. When I show up for the filling I am informed that they rescheduled my appointment without notifying me. When I told them the date they rescheduled me for didn’t work they offered me a new appointment over a month away. I canceled and ended up going back to my old dentist who is not only 1 hour away but doesn’t even take my insurance because that’s how bad of an experience I had at Ankeny Smiles

Experiencia negativa: I had 2 teeth pulled here a couple years ago and had a terrible experience. When I was getting xrays done the nurse told me I was acting like a child because my jaw doesn't open very far for the plastic things to fit. Completely out of my control. When we walked back my dentist (whos name i can't remember unfortunately) was sitting on a chair with his feet up watching videos on his phone in the middle of the office which was insanely unprofessional. He numbed my gums, I was mid panic attack from the epinephrine and he grabbed my face and shoved it on the chair into his crotch and pulled my teeth out and i felt him do it but he wouldn't listen when I tried to say it wasn't all the way numb. The front desk ladies were great though‍♀️

My sister got some work done there and they took good care of her. If you ever had a bad experience with dental offices just go to Ankeny Smiles and they will be sure to take good care of you and you won’t have to worry about those bad experiences anymore.

I HAD MY FOUR BACK TEETH PULLED THE DOCTOR WAS SO ROUGH WITH ME MY LEFT SIDE IS SWOLLEN LIKE I HAVE A BIG BASEBALL BAT IN MY CHEEK. THANK GOD FOR HITS DENTAL DENTISTRY THEY HAD TO PUT STITCHES IN MY MOUTH AND FIX ME UP. EVERYBODY AND ANKENY SMILES WAS NOT COMFORTING. THEY DID NOT GIVE ME ANYTHING FOR PAIN AND I'VE CALLED THE EMERGENCY PHONE AND NOBODY ANSWERED. AND HAVE THAT DACITY TO SAY I SHOULD HAVE LEFT THE VOICEMAIL IF IT'S AN EMERGENCY PHONE YOU SHOULD HAVE ANSWERED IT THAT'S WHAT THE EMERGENCY PHONE IS FOR IT'S FOR YOU TO ANSWER.

Experiencia negativa: DON'T go here unless you need a tooth pulled. They are great at pulling teeth. However, I wanted to pay on my way out and they said they didn't know how much it would be and stressed that I needed to buy medicated wash to help with healing, the dentist wanted me to use it. Well, I was stupid, I bought it. By the time I got home, I was scared to use it, thinking about how it might sting and the weird taste it would probably be. I used warm water with baking soda in it (Mom used to have us use this when one was pulled as kids, I wish I remembered it before I bought the rinse)to rinse my mouth out until it was healed. I had tried to get them to take the stuff back (unopened) they refused.

Experiencia negativa: Have called probably 20 different times in the last week and left voicemails and haven't gotten a call back. Extremely disappointing considering they have my records and transferring will be a hassle I dont really want to go through when dealing with mouth pain.

Experiencia negativa: i been going here for years i have told them multiple times over the years that i have a disability and cant see like everyone else. i have VSS and i cant read text but they still send them to me completely ignoring my condition. they refuse to make accommodations. I had another doctor's appointment today at the same time when they called telling me I confirm an appointment. I was confused. i must have some how confirmed it thinking it was for my other appointment cause I cant read what the messages say. the lady who got on tge phone with me was so rude and condescending that the nurse at the appointment i was at . even mention how rude she was being. so apparently now I going to be fined a no show fee because I couldn't make out a text dispite telling them multiple time of my disability. i just want to warn others. if you have a medical condition doesnt matter how many times you tell them dont expect them to accommodate it.

Experiencia fantástica: I still can’t believe the difference in how I look with the dentures I got here at Ankeny Smiles. It’s amazing how much better I feel, both emotionally as well as physically! How much healthier I feel is so hard to explain it’s just incredible! Also, the best part of my experience was how nice and caring the entire staff is. I will admit I’m not the best patient and I had some difficulties getting to my appointments on time or at all and they were so understanding and did more than they should have to help get me through the process!!! Experiencia fantástica: Recently I awoke with a terrible toothache it had bothered me for a couple of days but it was really bad on that day so I called Ankeny smiles. The receptionist said they were really busy but that they would squeeze me in somehow and to come as soon as possible. So I got a ride from a friend and we got there about 1:30 and the receptionist then said let me check and see what we can do and they told me to wait and they would get me in as soon as possible. I waited in the car with my friend and it wasn't long before they called me in and said come on back. Everyone there was so nice and treated me with respect. They also have a great doctor there and he pulled my tooth and before long I was on my way back home . I was so impressed with all the staff if you have tooth problems I recommend them 100%. They all are genuine people who truly care about your care. Thank you Ankeny smiles you're doing a great job!

I had 15 teeth pulled all at once and as odd as it sounds it was a wonderful experience from the minute I stepped in the door. Everyone there was so kind and caring!! I highly recommend this dentist and am thoroughly looking forward to my continued care with them. Will NEVER go anywhere else!!

Experiencia negativa: My daughter has had her teeth pulled ready for dentures, trying to get appt's is a hassle, don't answer the phones, in the slight chance that they do, always want to call us back, hardly ever do and it may be a week later. Drove 1 1/2 hours twice to be turned away saying Dr had left early. The unfriendly rude person said they don't issue card appt's, then why do we have one? Jackie is the only friendly person in that office. Impressions finally made, no calls, no info passed on to us, now they are saying all info was deleted and we need to start over!!! Since the first of January this circus has been happening. Who do they think will pay for these 'do over's"? And I find they aren't accredited through the BBBureau. We will contact the insurance carrier and see what our next step should be, anyplace but Ankeny Smiles!

The one time they did answer, they never sent the refferral. So here we are at the refferring office w no information. Will be finding a new dentist. Not proffessional at all!!

Experiencia fantástica: Update: Just finishing up after my third or fourth time here. I just wanted to say, they’re still awesome!! lol. Mason helped me first and she was so wonderful!! Gentle, thorough, efficient, and personable- and so positive!! It’s obvious she loves being a part of the Ankeny Smiles family and they are lucky to have her too! Every experience I have with this business is just so great, every step of the way! 10/10 recommend!! I’ve heard rave reviews from locals so decided to give them a try. There was a long wait list when I called but because of cancellations, I got in within a couple weeks! The office is clean and cheerful, the people were efficient, professional, and friendly. I got there early to fill out paperwork and finished right at my appt time. I was called back almost immediately. Everything was so quick, but I didn’t feel rushed- they just have a well oiled machine, clearly they all work together very well! The dentist was quick but effective and took plenty of time to examine my X-rays and answer my questions. The hygienist was kind and personable and clearly passionate about helping people. By the time I was finished, the front desk team had already scheduled all my follow ups, including some specialists I need to see (for an issue I suspected when I came in), and made sure all of it is covered by my insurance (they even did a required pre-authorization)!!! This is literally the best experience I’ve ever had with a dentist’s office!! Thank you, Ankeny Smiles!! And thanks to everyone that has spread the word, I thought I’d do the same :)

Experiencia fantástica: When i was 16 I went to a dentist that made fun of the way my teeth were shaped. It stuck with me for years so I avoided dentists for a really long time. I had a really bad tooth that needed extraction.. The staff at ankeny smiles made me feel important, like I mattered! The extraction itself took about between 10 and 20 minutes. The dentist made sure I didn't feel any pain before he started. If I could give this place 100 stars I would. Definitely recommend to anyone. Thank you guys for making me feel good in more ways then 1! ❤️

Experiencia negativa: Have been coming here for years due to it being the only place that takes my insurance nearby. I’ve had multiple instances of fillings falling out, needing to pay $3k out of pocket for a root canal somewhere else because they couldn’t take an emergency appointment and just as of today, I got a filling done that was needed since October. They had no availability until July this year and got a call for an earlier appointment this month. Only to find out that I probably need to go pay for another out of pocket root canal somewhere else. I understand being understaffed, but as a patient you are supposed to trust the experience of your drs. Feel like I was put on a back burner. Front desk older lady was rude when I was asking for my transfers and made me feel very uncomfortable. She made snide comments about the place I was transferring too and talked to me like I was a child. The actual dental staff is very nice, personally would not come back again.

Experiencia fantástica: I came in today to get a tooth extraction. I was beyond nervous and sobbing. A complete wreck. I asked for Becky since I’ve seen all the great reviews on her. She held my hand, wiped my tears, and gave me a little pep talk. She was an absolute peach. Make sure to make it clear you wanna keep your tooth after. If not they could accidentally throw it out. No biggie for me though. I’m glad I went to ankeny smiles. From someone who has Generalized anxiety disorder and panic disorder they really accommodate you. I’m editing this: I recently had another tooth removed yesterday by a dentist in Mason city. This extraction had zero pain or discomfort and my anxiety was made too priority. I was not belittled. The dentist took everything slow and gently removed the tooth. This was not my experience at ankeny smiles. The dentist jammed an elevator into mouth, and when I began to cry out in pain he stopped and said “we aren’t doing that, there are kids here.” I should not have felt any pain, and I should not have been talked to like that.

Experiencia fantástica: Dr.Z is awesome! I'm always nervous and get some anxiety about going to dentist. This was my second time with her, Dr. Z. She made me feel so comfortable even the receptionist. It was 100% better than my last experience with them about 6-8mos ago. Dr.Z is why I came back today. It's was my second time seeing her. I owe Dr.Z, her assistants, and the ladies up front for making yesterday and today very comfortable and understanding. Even at my older age, I still get worked up over needles.She made it so I had nothing to worry about. Thank you Dr Z.

SOME of the staff is great .. some good and bad experiences here One of the dentist doesn’t numb your mouth correctly & is like he is playing in your mouth in a sense … Last straw appointment got canceled on their end , rescheduled and I end up canceling my appt . It is -1 outside … the owner rudely “call back when you’re ready to pay the fee” to sum it up because it’s way more … I called back because how rude she was . She proceeded on … theirs 4 people who want to be here right now and doesn’t care that it’s cold … 1. Didn’t tell me how much the fee was (150$) 2. Her tone 3. Your not always right just because you own a business learn how to talk to people 4.I COULD HAVE PAID THE FEE RIGHT THAN !! I am the one who called and asked and knew there would be a fee 5. I will not be going back

Experiencia negativa: So I drove an hour and a half to my 2 o’clock appointment mind you I got there 15 minutes early checked in with some black lady. Everything was fine then all of a sudden we’re waiting 30 minutes to get back there then they say your seats ready so I go back there I have my daughter stuff in my hand and she said that the doctor says you can put your stuff right there so I’m waiting for my daughter to come back from the bathroom she said what and I repeated myself and then as my daughter walked into the room she said I’m not gonna see you and I was like for what reason and she was like I’m not gonna be talk to you like that I said talk to you like what then I said you’re gonna have to remove me so then she goes and gets the owner apparently who comes into the room and says we’re not gonna treat you today I can’t force the doctor to see you she said ever since you came in here you’ve rolled your eyes when she wasn’t even up there when I came in, so how would she know anything and what would I be rolling my eyes for when I got there 15 minutes early that would be no reason for me to roll my eyes at them and what does me rolling. My eyes have to do with me getting crowns in my mouth so heads up I would not go there if I was you or anybody else because that place is a joke. The waiting room is freezing cold and then their coffee machine is broke but they want to charge everybody all these hundreds and thousands of dollars for treatments, but can’t even afford a coffee machine

Experiencia negativa: Do not get your wisdom teeth done here. Having to have a special operation now because dentist left a root in my gums when he pulled it out and I haven't been able to eat or open my mouth much since October 4th . They didn't give me anything other than ibuprofen and gave me a horribly spaced out medication schedule. Ended up in the ER with infection, swelling, dehydration, and malnourishment. I waited so long to get my wisdom teeth removed and heard this was the place to go if I couldn't go out to Iowa city. Will probably not be coming back here.

Experiencia negativa: If I could give zero stars, I would. DON'T CALL THIS PLACE If you're looking for a new dentist. I called end of June 2024 to make appointments for myself, my adult daughter and my 17-year old son. I was told they were not taking new adult patients and the wait list for pediatric patients was 4 months. Fair. I figured 4 months wasn't too long to wait to get my son in for a cleaning, so I made an appointment for him the 3rd week of Oct. First week in Oct. I get a VM asking if I wanted to move the appt. up a week and if so to call back. I didn't want to move it because it was on a non-school day (new attendance law) so I didn't return their call. Following week I get a reminder call for his appt. I told the gal that his appt. was the 3rd week in Oct. and I had not agreed to it being moved up. They told me that since my son would be a new patient, he needed to see a Dr. and that the Dr. he was scheduled with for that day had gone on vacation, out of the country for 2 weeks. (If you know you're booking patients 4 months out, shouldn't the Drs book their vacations that far in advance?) We ended up rescheduling for what I was told was the 4th Mon. in Oct. at 9 am, and told me they'd see if they could find an 8am or 4pm slot for him, but wouldn't know until the week before. Meanwhile I get a new job, and take that Mon off to accommodate his appointment. I decided to leave it at the 9am slot and call to let them know they don't need to move it. Come to find out they scheduled him for that Wed at 9am, not Mon. I confirmed with the gal on the phone (2 calls ago) twice that it was for Mon. Super frustrated and upset by now. I had them cancel the Wed. appt. because I'd be at my new job that day. Meanwhile, no calls about a different appt. for Monday. I have to start all over to find a dentist. The last call with this place said they were now 8 months out for pediatric patients. My son turns 18 in March, so it's pointless with this place. We've wasted 4 months and now I have to start all over again and find another dentist that takes his insurance. VERY FRUSTRATING EXPERIENCE, DO BETTER!

Experiencia negativa: Cant help but feel like they are just a bunch of criminals. They drilled a whole in my teeth TWICE and left it. Leaving me in pain till my next appointment where I then had to get the first one replaced with a crown. The second instance made me seriously worried given that I went in and told them it hurt. They then proceeded to not say or do anything about it at all and I am still in pain. That's not all of it either.

I have called for over a month, left voicemails and even texted the automated message that says to leave a message and theyll get back to you and never hear back. My family specifically my husband is desperately looking for a dentist that accepts state insurance and was referred by multiple dentistry offices and people to check here as they have state and have been approved here, this was the last option for us as others aren't accepting new patients, don't accept state, or other reasons and nope.. never hear back. Definitely not a dentist I want my family at, desperate or not, if they can't even answer their phones, thank God it's not an emergency tooth problem.

Experiencia fantástica: Doctor Pollard is very nice, I love that they do a mouth and throat exam with the cleaning. There's a no-show fee, and it's a total positive. This is the one dental office I've been to that when your appointment is scheduled for 11a.m. that's what time you actually have your appointment! They've got a great system for that. Becky is my regular dental hygienist. She is so kind, but most importantly, she cleans my teeth really well, with care.

Experiencia fantástica: First time visiting this dentist for my daughter (14). Our previous dentist no longer accepted MCNA dental. My daughter was nervous about seeing a new dentist. We were greeted with smiles. Coffee available in the waiting room. We were seen quickly. The doctor walked through the process and preformed the procedure as outlined. He communicated with me each step and made sure my daughter was comfortable. I was very satisfied with the service we received and the knowledge passed along.

Most importantly, they care and are so kind and comforting. We have one child that has extreme difficulty at the Dentist and they go the extra mile to make sure she is loved through it.

Experiencia fantástica: My son is 20 and lives away from home in Ames. Sunday he complained about a severe pain in one of his wisdom teeth. As most parents, I was "on it" the next day. He did not have a dentist at the time since most do not take Medicaid (Americore) any more so I had a lot of trouble finding one until I found Ankeny Smiles!!! I was thrilled he was able to be seen THE NEXT DAY!. They were super nice and seemed to really care that my son was experiencing pain and wanted to help ASAP. He got it taken care of and they even had time to take out the other three that needed to come out. They took care of my son with kindness and professionalism we both appreciated so much. I cannot thank them enough for helping my son. They are amazing and we need for of them!!!

Experiencia negativa: The receptionist here is so rude and unprofessional that I’m sitting with 2 broken molars looking for a new dentist. I skipped my appointment because of how condescending she is. The techs were all pleasant enough, but the dentist didn’t seem to know what she was doing. She felt my front teeth needed to be thinner and proceeded to grind them down without my permission leaving shadows on both. Even that wasn’t as bad as having to deal with the receptionist though, she needs to find a different line of work instead of hating her job and taking it out on patients. Seriously. She’s terrible.

Experiencia positiva: My experience with Ankeny Smiles has been overall quite positive: friendly and caring staff, and my questions have been answered to my satisfaction. The only reason it's 4 stars instead of 5 is that getting an appointment has been difficult at times in the past, and sometimes the receptionist doesn't seem to be as helpful as she could be. Again, overall my experience has been very positive.

My room was very clean and had a cute bench that my kids could sit on while waiting. The staff is super easy to work with and makes going to the dentist very easy. Highly recommend!
