Experiencia fantástica: I’ve personally followed this family dental office from Manalapan, NJ, to Jersey City, NJ. Dr. Milman and his wife, Masha, are two of the most genuine people I’ve come across in all my years. The personal touch and willingness to spend time with me as a patient are incredibly rare in the medical field, and their staff is a complete reflection of this attitude. I’ve never once felt rushed or uneducated about a procedure I needed to have. The trust and respect I’ve developed over the past 12 years are a big part of the reason I happily travel over an hour to Lotus Smiles. After a cleaning last week, a tooth revealed its need for a crown. Dr. Watts took the time to explain that the images they had taken, compared to years past, indicated it was a medium-level priority. I scheduled the procedure for the following Friday and can confidently say it was a success. I was in no pain and treated with the highest level of professionalism. I’m now about 72 hours out and can’t even tell which tooth had the replacement crown installed! To the stranger reading this note, just know that you are in incredibly caring hands. I can’t speak for everyone at the office, but I can say this: Pros: • The facility is state-of-the-art, with large screens in each room showing previous images (X-rays) and allowing the doctor to take photos from within your mouth to show exactly what’s going on. • The reception staff is friendly, and the office is very proactive with text reminders about appointments. • The hygienists I’ve had are all gentle, respectful, and professional, often making you feel like part of a family. • The doctors are incredible—very patient and willing to walk you through any questions you may have. I can confidently say this for Dr. Milman and Dr. Watts. Although I’m sure the other doctors are great, I just can’t personally speak for them. Cons: • Parking can be tough! Leave some extra time before your appointment to find a spot. • You may never want to find another dentist, regardless of how far away you move! It’s clear that Dr. Milman and his wife, Masha, have a passion for dentistry and a talent for finding great people, which they have refined into a fantastic establishment nestled in Jersey City. I’d recommend them to anyone with dental needs. Can’t wait to see them for my cleaning in May!

Experiencia fantástica: I’ve been going to Dr. Milman for 6 years, and even after moving to Brooklyn over a year ago, I still travel back to Jersey City for my dental cleanings and any dental work. The location is convenient—a short walk from Grove Street Station. The office is spotless and equipped with new, modern technology. Luis, the dental hygienist, is thorough yet gentle. He makes cleanings comfortable. Dr. Milman is personable, professional, and exceptional at what he does. His “no pain” injections and dental work almost seem impossible—but he actually does them! They’re also very prompt and responsive over text, whether it’s for scheduling routine appointments or handling emergency requests. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a reliable dental office in Jersey City!

Experiencia negativa: My experience at Lotus Smiles started off great but deteriorated pretty materially. The initial cleaning was nice - staff were friendly, the cleaning was quick. Then I was told by a doctor that I needed several fillings on both sides. Terrified, I scheduled two appointments for fillings immediately, one for each side. After the first appointment for the right side, I got a headache and nausea for almost two days, which the doctor explained was likely caused by the drilling and maybe some reactions to the numbing. Sure. I went in for the second appointment for the left side, and started to experience sensitivity pretty immediately whenever I chew on that side. I tolerated it for two weeks, since the dentist told me it was normal. When it persisted, I went in to check the alignment. She fixed it a bit more, and told me I should be fine. I asked why my tooth still looked a bit black. She said it's normal and I shouldn't worry about it. It wasn't. In six months, I returned for my next cleaning, and told them that the sensitivity persisted. This time, a different doctor treated me. He told me that the tooth is fine. There's nothing he could do. It might be in my head. But, there are SEVEN more cavities he sees ON THE SAME SCAN FROM SIX MONTHS AGO BEFORE ANY FILLINGS, and told me I needed to get those done asap. This didn't feel right. If there are all these cavities he's seeing on the exact same scan, how come the previous doctor said nothing about it? Confused and alarmed, I never returned, and went to a different dentist. The new dentist took new scans and looked at the old scans as well, and told me I certainly do not need any more fillings done. The big surprise was regarding the tooth that's been sensitive for a year. The new dentist took out the previous filling by Lotus Smiles, and guess what? THERE WERE CAVITIES UNDERNEATH THE FILLING. That's what's been irritating me for a year. That's why it looked black. That's why it was never comfortable. That pain was not in my head. And no amount of flossing or brushing my teeth (which I do religiously) would have helped because nothing can get to it when it was trapped under the hard filling. If I didn't switch dentists, I might have to wait until this leftover cavity eats up the tooth before I realize something was wrong. This is absolutely not acceptable. I would certainly recommend all my friends to stay away.

Experiencia fantástica: After seeing (3) dentists in Jersey City, my sister recommended Dr. Milman at Lotus Smiles. I highly recommend this place. The staff was so courteous and Dr. Milman was so good. I needed a crown and he prepped me with ZERO pain. Plus, it was ready that day! I waited for about 1+1/2 hours watching Netflix on their TV in my “suite”, until my permanent tooth was ready. Dr. Milman attached it and I was on my way. Unbelievable…btw, the price was on the national average for this procedure.

Experiencia negativa: Not worth it - they seemed like a good choice from the reviews & the place is clean etc but the work they did on my teeth didn’t last - I had to have fillings redone elsewhere afterwards. They also chipped my wife’s front tooth by shaving it down for some reason & so we were left with more work needed for her as well. Needless to say we never went back after all their follow-up calls

Lotus Smiles and Dr. Watts specifically have really changed the game, between their communication around scheduling and checking in on how you are feeling after the procedure to the crystal clear communication of treatment plans and ensuring no procedure is ever too painful it’s clear they care. Look going to the dentist is never fun, but trust me this is the best way to go through that experience, just hope you don’t need the laser. I’ll never forget the laser, you don’t want the laser.

Experiencia fantástica: Went for cleaning with my 2 kids. Edward and Luis were amazing. Luis was very attentive to my 2 children. He engaged in conversation with my then 8 year old son and my 6 year old daughter. I felt comfortable leaving them with him while Edward did one of the best cleaning i have ever had in 20 years. He said "i clean with my whole heart" and i never lied. He took his time cleaning my teeth. When he was done i felt like a bought a set of teeth We shared some laughs. The facility is very clean and advanced as well. Parking is awful But the light rail is adjacent to their store so not an issue for next time.

The dentist is very professional and not pushy on his recommendation he allows you to make the final decision on your teeth.

The appt was given at 11:50am. I get there at 12:15 but could not find parking. Walked in at 12:38 to meet up with a rude receptionist. So as not to waste time spent coming to jc I ask if doc could just check inner mouth and I would forego cleansing. Price quoted was $12 less than total price of seeing the dr. And getting teeth cleaned. Ridiculous! No need to go there anymore. This doctor needs to find more intelligent and congenial receptionists!!!

Experiencia negativa: I decided to go a cheaper option that was adding a tooth to an existing bridge. The billing person, in May, said she would send for an approval to my insurance company. I never got a call back. The last time I heard from them was when they sent an email to get a cleaning. It was followed up by a phone call. When I told the receptionist that i never received a call back she said her records showed that they resubmitted in July. It was August 9 and had not received a call. They may do good work but they do not follow up and did not update me in months. Ill go somewhere else

The hygienists are very good and take their time doing your cleaning ( especially Luis!) and asking you about your home care routines. The dentists are very skilled and make sure you are comfortable and in no pain during any procedure. I’ve had two root canals there and they were the easiest ones I’ve ever had ( obviously not my first!). The office is clean and treatment rooms are private. Their prices are very reasonable - I do have dental insurance , but as you know coverage is not ideal. They are centrally located for the area ( right next to a Light Rail Station) and there are parking lots in the neighborhood as well. I’ve never had to wait long when I arrive for my appointment either ( most times I don’t even get the chair warm!). I’m so glad I found this practice and I will continue to use them for my dental care.

Every procedure (from the most simple to the most complex) has been basically pain free. The staff is friendly, efficient, knowledgeable. Dr Milman does an excellent job!!! Experiencia negativa: My wife and I have been patients at Lotus Smiles for several years but can no longer visit this office due to being misled by and lied to by their staff. I came in for a routine cleaning and have insurance. I asked the hygenist, as well as the front desk, if everything in my routine cleaning visit would be covered. I was assured that there would be no out of pcoket cost and that x-rays were included. Several weeks later, a bill arrived in the mail. When I confronted Lotus Smiles, they informed me, in writing, that "there is no way to spend 30 minutes on hold with each insurance to check all of the details of each plan". I'm actually ok with that. What I'm not ok with is Lotus Smiles lying to me in person that there won't be any charges when in fact they really had no idea. Just be honest and say "insurance might not cover all of this" or "please give us a moment so that we can get a definitive answer for you." Don't reassure me that everything is covered when you in fact don't know if it will be. How can anyone trust this office if they bill you after reassuring you there will be no bill? Furthermore, when given the chance to make it right, Lotus Smiles excused themselves of any fault by blaming a loyal customer rather than admitting fault. What a shame.

Experiencia fantástica: Where do I really begin when speaking of the great experience at Lotus Smiles at first glance it has the look of a spa and the professionalism of a top-rate dental facility To me they are the industry standard in dental care. Marsha gave me a tour like I was an owner of the place and then the staff from billing to the gentle amazing care I got with my cleaning all the way up to my whitening with personal care from Dr Millman himself!! Really awesome experience!! the before care with reminders and then the aftercare to check on me to make sure everything was okay was really amazing!! Just the education I received alone on being able to really see my teeth in 3D like I've never seen before and then as the procedures went forward I was able to watch on a large screen what was going on with my care it was really eye-opening and led me to really begin to think of my teeth as a gateway for the beginning of good health for my body! While I don't have any anxiety about going to the dentist they still made me feel really comfortable with step by step explanations of what was about to happen regarding my care. The office was clean and warm friendly and inviting ,with beautiful music playing in the background and the really professional staff at the front just took the experience to the next level!! When you walk in you are greeted by the Manager who gives you a brief tour of the office staff is friendly and courteous. Then the equipment that was used was state of the art they looked at my every corner to recommend the right treatment. Then Ed took over and made me comfortable when he was done I was really really pleased with the services. If you are afraid of a dentist DONT BE. Lotus Smiles Renee Ed and the entire staff would change your mind 5Stars across the board.

Experiencia fantástica: This review is about 5 years late but it just occurred to me that my mouth/teeth have been pain free that entire time due to my visit here years ago. During COVID most offices closed or severely limited hours/days that they were open right after March 2020. Around a month later, I had the worst nerve pain I’ve probably ever experienced which made my head feel like it was splitting in two, and I couldn’t find an office open to see what was wrong. Turns out I needed a root canal surgery. This was one of the only offices to pick up the phone and take me in for an emergency appointment. Dr Milman scheduled me right away, within 24 hours for the surgery to be completed. I am beyond thankful for this office and Dr. Milman for helping me. Highly recommend this place if you have a similar issue or for any dental needs!

Experiencia fantástica: Lotus Smiles and staff are unmatched. I have been coming here since 2021 and even though I have since moved, I still come here because it is a great experience every single time. The staff are all extremely friendly and nice, they greet you first thing at the door and have chilled water bottles and beverages if you want to have anything while you wait next to a cozy fireplace in their waiting room. Another thing - they have their schedules down perfectly; I am never waiting long on any occasion, even when they are very busy. The doctors take time to actually listen to you and guide you to find the best solution. The cleanings are great, I also got Invisalign with them and they have answered right away whenever I had any questions, and even made time for me when I had to come in for something last minute. I've had some work done and never had any issues/pain, the doctors are precise and mindful. They go the extra mile and they are the epitome of a great business that makes something like going to the dentist a good experience when it can normally be the opposite in the wrong setting. I also love the layout for the place... comfy chairs, big tvs, nice music - no boring all-white rooms and "your typically outdated dentist office" set up here. I'd recommend to anybody considering a change with their dentist. 5/5 Every time.

Experiencia fantástica: I was usually fearful to go to the dentist until I came to Lotus Smiles and I have been going for the last 3-4 years now. Most of the staff are very kind and the dentists are very informative showing details of your teeth from the X-Rays. Dr. Kim in particular is very nice and I didn't feel any pain when she worked on my fillings! I did have one bad experience with a different dentist, but the staff was very approachable and acceptable of feedback.

I visited them multiple times , for the root canal once and then the general cleaning, the entire process was smooth. Very friendly and caring, they take time to answer all your questions. Even when we moved 20 miles away we chose to keep going to Lotus not only because Dr. Milmans expertise w/ treatment & care but because Reneé the office manager takes her time to explain the treatment plan & work with insurance benefits & payments. Also, knowing I have a fear of dental procedures she has always been so caring & accommodating with follow ups & missed appointments to get me back on track!

Experiencia negativa: Extremely disappointing experience. I chose this clinic solely for its convenient location, and I deeply regret not doing more research. I had to return three times for them to fix their work on a core buildup and crown, and I’m still dealing with the consequences. While the office itself was clean and well-maintained, the dentist was clearly inexperienced. She initially sent me home with an ill-fitting temporary fixed crown, assuring me I would “get used to it.” When I returned, they remade the crown but burned my gums with a laser to “prevent bleeding.” After placing the new crown, despite the assistant noting leftover cement, the dentist dismissed it, saying it would fall off and that I’d adjust to the crown. Unsurprisingly, I went home with another poorly fitted crown, which caused gum bleeding and an infection. I had to go back again, and this time a different dentist worked on the fit and cement removal. Yet, I still experience bleeding when brushing in that area.

Experiencia fantástica: Made an urgent appointment for a possible cavity, Lotus Smiles made me feel very accommodated. I got a tour of the facility with a nice questionnaire about my comfort zones before the procedure. My doctor constantly asked whether I felt any pain, and I definitely will be visiting again! Front desk lady was very kind too.

Experiencia negativa: Stay away from here. My husband and I went here twice and did not have a great experience. My cleaning turned into crown removal, to requiring a root canal because they messed up on the procedure. From the cleaning, it was recommended to redo my crowns. They had to remove it and made a mistake in the procedure, which was an unnecessary procedure. Then I went to another dentist and discovered this was a mistake done by Lotus Smiles. This place is all about business, marketing and lying about your dental status to get more services in when you don’t need it. They do not have professional dentists. Please, even if it requires to travel a bit further, find a better dentist.

Experiencia negativa: this is tough, because every procedure I've had has been painless. something they excel at is injections and listening to patients when they express that they're in pain. however, the dental work itself is not particularly skillful (though I can only speak to my experience with my dentist). I have to come back many times to get crowns filed down, even when I am vocal about them not fitting right. they convince me to leave and come back, which is all well and good, except I know my mouth and the way it should feel. I've also never been so aware of the fillings I've received before, and speaking of fillings, within an hour of being home from my most recent appointment, my filling fell out completely. I've had cement stuck in my gums that required intense, painful work to get out, burns on my lips and tongue from the machinery, and a tooth covered in a crown that is shaped entirely differently than it was pre-work (a fact they admitted to me themselves). finally, I have wanted invisalign for years due to my crooked and overcrowded mouth, but to be continuously told I need it, for it to be assumed that I will take that step, etc, has made me feel very poorly about myself. their office is nice, clean, with great technology and mostly great nurses, but the work they do leaves a lot to be desired for me.

Experiencia fantástica: I would recommend anyone 100% this place. I usually take 2-3 visits before I leave reviews. This is my second or 3rd visits with them, I am absolutely amaze how the all staff are so welcoming and caring. Mrs Renee, she’s amazing, understanding and caring, great Manager. The front Desk team also went above and beyond for helping me out, with any questions I had. Also during my cleaning inside, everyone’s was so helpful. If I can give six stars ⭐️ I would. ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Lastly! I would recommend this place, because the place is so clean, and I love a cleaning atmosphere’s. Thank you!

Experiencia negativa: Billing process is very concerning. I have similar experience with Alvin’s review: I received a pre-authorization claim(denied) from my insurance company and the procedure that they listed were wrong. It would end up charging me a lot more money if my insurance company approved it. Plus, they claim to be in-network with delta dental. They submit my claim under the name of the provider who is in network, but the person who did my procedure was a different person. It was caught on the three-way call

Experiencia negativa: I’ve been going to Lotus Smile for the past 3 years, always went with Dr Jamil and have been happy with her. However, Dr Jamil is no longer with them so I went with Dr Milman this time. I had an extremely bad experience and I will NEVER go back. He only cares about selling you Invisalign and doesn’t even look at your teeth. After the dental hygienist was done with his work, Dr Milman came in. He DIDN’T even look at my teeth, and immediately declared that I needed Invisalign. “Your bottom incisors are half gone” - I was in shock when he told me that (I always had a teeth grinding problem and every other dentist I went to recommended a night guard, but it has always been about my top incisors and no one said anything about bottom ones or recommended Invisalign). I asked him whether this is something developed over the past 6 months since my last visit and why his recommendation is different from other dentists’ (including the ones previously in his own clinic). His response was that he had a different education and experience and that’s why. After I told him I need to think about it, he took maybe 10 seconds to look at my teeth and said he’s done. On his way out, he said:”I hope you will come back sooner than 6 months if you still want to have teeth”. I have never had such a horrible and unprofessional experience with any medical provider. I will NEVER go back!

Experiencia positiva: This is an update to my original review: Lotus Smiles is a well kept office with friendly staff. I shopped around for dentists and they ended up being the best for me. I don't have to wait long for my appointment. There was, however, an issue with my insurance where my benefits were not confirmed and I received an incorrect bill. *but* I reached out and they were very responsive in helping me to get it resolved.

During my recent cleaning, Dr. Edward made sure I was following along with the needs of procedure, it really made me feel calm and relaxed throughout. He was also very kind and thoughtful. Experiencia negativa: Staff does not know the difference between PPO and DHMO. Told me they accepted both, waited 2 months for an appointment then got a text a 5 days before saying they don’t accept DHMO. Wasted my time with their complete incompetence. Im not the only one this has happened too either. Reply to Lotus Smiles’ comment: First, that is not me. Now you are assuming I am calling your staff names, the only name I called your staff was incompetent and I stand by that because of the way you just handled this. Also, because your staff said on the phone that both PPO and DHMO was accepted and because of our plans our first visit would cost nothing out of pocket. So you guys waited practically 2 months to say otherwise and wasted our time when we could have been happy at a more reputable office. Then you decided to falsely accuse me of insulting you. Putting a person’s telephone number and private messages out there is disgraceful, disrespectful and dangerous, your reply should be taken down immediately. Wow, after all this, I agree with those messages you guys are a bunch of see you next tuesdays.

I used to feel so self-conscious about it, avoiding photos and always covering my mouth when I laughed. But those days are behind me! After finally getting the dental work I needed, that insecurity is now gone. I feel so much more confident and happy, and I love showing off my new smile! Experiencia negativa: Don’t go here. They practice the ancient art of “Bait and Switch”, where they quoted me a price of $200 for a cleaning which I paid when I arrived and was told by my “hygienist” that I had to get a “deep cleaning” which would require two visits at a cost of $1200! I was told that the money I paid was now just for the examination and that they “couldn’t” do a regular cleaning, only the more expensive “deep cleaning” Now I’m out $200 and my teeth haven’t been touched. I explained I was paying git everything out of pocket and the best they could do it off 5% off the “deep cleaning” price. Looking for a place now with more honest practices.

Hands down Dr.Milman is the best dentist I have ever had! The staff there is also amazing, they always make me feel welcome. Experiencia negativa: This place is known for putting extra effort into marketing and customer care, but unfortunately, not in hiring and retaining great and professional dentists. My family and I went there for several appointments, as we live nearby. We hoped to find a great provider in the area and save time commuting to Manhattan, where our current provider is located. I had two appointments, and my husband had two appointments, and, unfortunately, the quality and professionalism were not there.

Experiencia fantástica: Dr Milman is the best painless dentist I’ve ever had. We used to go to his office near our house, but when he moved, we now willingly drive an hour just to go to him. He and his staff are just great. I highly recommend!!
