Experiencia negativa: I would like to give this place a 5 star review but because of the rude receptionist I can do that. I called today to reschedule my appointment because I have a flat tire and was rudely told that i have pay $75 before I can reschedule (which btw I had to call several times before someone answered ). I was also told because I am a new patient which I am not that she couldn't waive this fee. This is my second time speaking with this receptionist and she was rude last week when I called to get a prescription for an antibiotic. Also, the receptionist doesn't even know the patients her Debtist sees, I am not a "new patient" I was seen in December. Beth Minthorn

Experiencia fantástica: I have never had such a pleasant experience at a medical appointment, as I did here for my first visit. They were able to squeeze me in on a Friday before close to find what my throbbing toothache was caused by, just two hours after calling. The assistant named Ashley was very comforting and thorough in her explanations. I’d explained that I had a lot of health anxiety and she gave a lot of reassurance! The dentist was quick and thorough as well! Michelle at the front desk is incredibly kind and very helpful! They were able to get me an appointment the next week for a cleaning and for my tooth repair. They are an incredible practice and I highly recommend them.

Experiencia negativa: Me and some of my friends saw the office while walking on Hertel street , during the Italian fest. I wanted to see if the dentist office was a place where I would have liked to go for all of my future dentistry work ,and to see if they took my insurance. I walked in a few days ago after work and I saw that the inside was absolutely stunning and modern. I didn’t know which side to go to and was told to go to the right and they would help me. No one was at the desk but I heard loud laughter from the back. I waited patiently and saw an older woman wearing scrubs start to walk to the desk, but then she stopped, started laughing at something on her phone and she went into the back again!!! It was around 2:30 so I knew they were open , I waited and then sat down. The phones were ringing but no one answered them. A patient walked out with the bag you get after getting your teeth cleaned so now I was getting mad. The woman with the phone then walked back up to the desk with another woman in scrubs and they kept talking and laughing. I have dental anxiety and I don’t think a dental office should be loud like that!! When I stood up to leave, she looked directly at me, almost a glare, but didn’t say anything !! She ignored me and I watched her walk away from the desk AGAIN but this time she walked into a room across from the desk. I heard more laughter and whispering. Im not saying you can’t have fun at work but the woman’s laugh was obnoxious and sounded like a Beavis and Butthead episode! It’s like she was too busy having fun that she didn’t care about me standing there. As I was leaving she finally answered the ringing phones but put the person on hold so she could finish showing the other person something on her phone ! As I was leaving another lady came into the office and I waited to see if she would be treated better or helped. She walked into the office and I realized she was another staff person. The woman in scrubs then acted all busy! I was asked if I needed help or if I waiting for someone. I was mad and even though she was nice, I had already seen enough and found it very annoying and unprofessional with how I was treated!!! I told her I was all set and left. I will no longer return to Hertel Family Dentistry office because of being ignored. After asking a friend of mine about the facility, she told me great things about the doctor, but the receptionist ruined it for me. Worst experience ever and I’m not even a patient!!!

Experiencia fantástica: Best dental experience I've ever had. They were able to squeeze me in just a few days after I made my appointment and I was seen promptly at my appointment time. The check in process was seamless and it's nice seeing employees in a good mood/enjoying the place that they work. My interactions with Dr. Samad and the assistant who cleaned my teeth were very pleasant. A very well run, organized and clean dentistry.

Experiencia negativa: The primary concern was poor management, which led to what I perceived to be a lack of adequate patient care involving a potential root canal. The blame at the time was placed on their office manager. Following a couple of appointments over a period of a year and trying to rectify the root canal situation, I was informed of their decision that they would no longer accept my insurance and therefore would not be serving me in the future. The issue of the root canal was never resolved through them. This was a disappointing experience overall, especially considering the positive reputation I had read online.

Experiencia negativa: I was excited at the prospect of an appointment here, and called a few times to attempt to schedule an appointment. When I had to call back, my request for a new patient appointment was clearly an annoyance to the receptionist who was huffing and puffing on the phone about the fact that my work hours make it inconvenient for her to find an appointment. Not only that - but I was expecting a call back from the office and never received one. That would not have bothered me however the receptionist then lied to me and said they called me but I did not answer. If this is how they treat potential clients who have not even confirmed their service yet I can only imagine how poorly they treat their existing clients. I will be finding another dentistry and warning others to stay away from the rudeness.

Experiencia negativa: My experience here from about 8-9 months ago has made me nervous to go to another dentist. I was very self conscious about my teeth and both the assistant and doctor made me feel even worse. They also were supposed to follow up with me about getting root canals and my wisdom teeth out and I never heard back. I would go there if your teeth are in ok condition and not a major issue. Just went to a new dentist and was told that my condition was definitely not as terrible as they made it seem when I went here.

Experiencia fantástica: I enjoy my time going to the dentist Val at the front desk has such a great personality it’s very important that the first person you interact with has good energy. My dentist is polite and gentle and does a good job communicating with me about what she is doing. The staff seems to get along well and that’s important. Best thing is they call you To remind you of appointments and when you get there the waiting room is never full and I never had to wait longer than 5 minutes past my scheduled appointment time to be called back and I am a very impatient person so I appreciate how efficient they are.

Experiencia negativa: I had a new patient appointment, booked months in advance. I had a work emergency come up, and called in advance to see if I could come late or reschedule. They said they do not reschedule patients who come late and don’t want such patients because it’s presumed to be a recurring problem. Mind you, I’m in healthcare and this is the first I’m hearing of it. I then tried to find coverage for my shift so I could make it to the same appointment at the same time, and called to let them know that I’m coming. They said they scheduled someone (within 15 mins) and won’t reschedule. I’m better off at a place that understands that life happens or have emergencies at their schedule.

My hygienist was very thorough, yet gentile, and the dentist was very helpful and made sure I was in perfect health. My teeth thank you, and I can’t wait to come back in 6 months.

Val welcomed me with a smile and had already validated my insurance coverage. Hygienist Char (Shar?) was thorough and friendly, and Doctor Samad was as professional and courteous as ever. She took the time to show me how flossing and dental habits could affect mouth bone structure using my x-ray as an example. My appointment was thorough and only had me away from my job for a brief time. If ever they added Saturday hours my girlfriend would go here too.

Experiencia fantástica: I just started going to Hertel Dentistry and I’m someone who hates the dentist, hence why I haven’t gone in years even with having insurance. They are nothing short of FABULOUS. I didn’t have the best outcome but they did not guilt me like many dentists do, they were extremely kind, everyone is so friendly, and they even took the time to explain and show me what the issues were. On each visit I’ve had they have kept with this same pattern. I cannot rave enough! Consider me a changed patient! I no longer hate the dentist.

Experiencia negativa: Worst experience ever . Last time a new guy clean my teeth, it was the worst cleaning experience ever for me. His work showed that he might have no previous experience. And this time I got no reminder for appointment and missed it somehow , though I called them, but they canceled my son for not showing up on the appointment. But they did the same with me 2times. They didn’t called me 24 hours before cancellation “as their so called policy”. I was middle of the way to the office and they called and canceled my appointment. What action should I have taken then? NOT RECOMMENDED. Though I did personally recommend many people before but not anymore.

Shar is excellent with cleanings - she made sure to get every surface on every tooth & if it wasn’t right she went back until it was! Experiencia fantástica: PLEASE! Please believe me. I have always been afraid of the dentist, and I never even had a cavity until I had 40 years. I was terrified! Today was the best experience I have ever had at a dentist. To start, the Dentist cleaned my teeth. That has never happened to me before. I do not believe all dentists I have had would have been this great. They usually just checked my teeth, avoiding the miserable full cleaning, scaping with metal on my teeth. It was always a miserable experience. NOT TODAY. How did she do that? Is Dr. Sabiha magic? Today was by far, BY FAR the best experience, least obtrusive dental experience I have ever had. She cared for my teeth and gums from start to finish. So delicate, so soft. I was so excited I called my mother! I found out I have my second cavity ever, but I am not afraid. I am actually very confident to have my cavity taken care of by Dr. Sabiha Samad. I thank my dear wife for breaking her crown, us recently moving to the area, her not knowing where to go, and her choosing the closest dentist office to our dwelling. AMAZING! It is Dr. Sabiha's gentle approach- unobtrusive and unfrightening. Maybe they are teaching dentists different now days, with new technology and new methods. Maybe it is just Dr. Samad. Could be a combo of both. Either way, 10 star review. Do yourself a favor and check this place out! EDIT: Ok, I am reading the reviews for the first time. And yes I see. It is not new technology or methods. It is Dr. Sabiha that is the difference. WOW!

I felt as though I was in my living room and the staff was very friendly and sincere and Dr. Samad was down to earth and really treated me with kindness and respect. Experiencia fantástica: As soon as I walked in. I was greeted with a cheerful and friendly welcome by manager Val. The clinic was beautifully organized and had a very modern minimalist look. The dental hygienist who worked on cleaning my teeth, Shar, did an incredible job, I didn't feel any sensitivity during the process. At first, I was nervous (from primed childhood experiences), but she was very calming and thorough. She went over the xrays results showing the areas of previous fillings, explaining areas indicative of cavity. It was a lovely learning experience for me. You can tell she's quite passionate about her profession . The assistant who stopped by to offer help, Ashely, was also friendly and welcoming. I would just like to mention that I learned so much more about proper hygiene and flossing techniques in this dental appointment than I ever have in my entire life going to the dentist. Her technique is impeccable for flossing, I was quite impressed. Overall, my experience was wonderful. Meeting the dentist of the practice Dr.Samad, she was very helpful and offered suggestions for my next visit. Definitely recommend joining this dental clinic. They are incredibly smart and hard-working females!

Experiencia fantástica: I’ve always had difficult/nerve-wracking experiences at the dentist in the past, but Hertel Family Dentistry does a great job of making you feel comfortable. I moved to Buffalo from NJ last year and I’ve gotten lots of help from this dentist since then. My doctor is very knowledgeable and reassuring about the health of my teeth which is a great relief. The hygienists are very kind as well. They are also very willing to come up with a plan for you financially if you need something like a payment plan for any services. I got a night guard from them recently and it’s definitely helped my sensitivity and even sleep tremendously. Best dentist I have been to and I highly recommend! Feels like a nice little family for sure

Experiencia fantástica: After my first experience here, it didn’t take me long to realize that this is the best dentist office I have been to. The flow of the office is very efficient and smooth. From patient intake, to getting dental cleaning/services/consultation done, I cannot say enough good things about all the staff. They are not only welcoming but treat you with respect and put a smile on your face. The office is high in technology and you get to be a part in all decision making. In fact, Dr. Samad took the time to advise me on things that no dentist has ever done. Again, cannot say enough good things. This office is truly amazing filled with great people. Experiencia fantástica: I love my steaks & kabobs, but lately had not been feeling all that great biting down on those delish meats due to my wisdom teeth. The pain and discomfort in my teeth had been overwhelming for quite sometime (several years). I never allowed any of the dentists, I knew, to remove them as I felt the harshness in their methods at deep cleaning and filling cavities. I always found a way to get out of my wisdom teeth being extracted. On a recent trip to Buffalo to visit some friends, I was in excruciating pain (you guessed it a kabob caused it). I was randomly looking up Dentists in the area and found Dr. Samad’s practice and looked up the reviews and was amazed to see she has 5 stars “across the board” & more than 500+ reviews! Somehow I felt I couldn’t go wrong. Arriving at Hertzel Dentist, I noticed that the staff was warm & welcoming, and it was very clean as well. The tech took my x-rays and then I was introduced to Dr. Samad who went into great detail explaining what she found and the need for extraction. At this point as anyone can imagine - I was out of state and not at my regular dentists, so felt super scared and very apprehensive. Anyways, after much reluctance, I decided to get them removed. I was amazed at her gentleness and care. In literally what seemed a few moments - Dr. Samad extracted both upper wisdom teeth without any issues. I was completely in “happy” shock - it not only didn’t hurt, but she did it so gently! i wish Dr. Samad lived in my state so she could be my dentist, she is truly amazing with her skillful-ness, caring, and gentle ways! Thank you Dr. Samad!

I had an excellent experience today during my quarterly teeth cleanings and annual X-rays. After my appointment the office manager Val gave me a demonstration of all the new Phillip toothbrushes and heads being recommended and carried by the office. I was appreciative because I use Phillips products now, but I wasn’t aware of the new cleaning heads. _________ Update: I am still a patient and have a 5-star experience each and every appointment, I go for quarterly teeth cleanings as I prefer the deep professional cleaning 4x a yr. Instead of just 2x. I also got molded for whitening trays which keep my teeth sparkly white _____________ 1st experience: I was in need of a new dentist, and I am glad that I decided to become a patient @ Hertel Family Dentistry. Initially, I called in and spoke with a gentleman by the name Amir, who serves as the medical billing rep./receptionist, and he informed me that they were accepting new patients. He also gave me a brief history behind the desire for his sisters to start the family practice, while taking my insurance information. He also was willing to come in on a day they weren't traditionally open to give me a tour of the facility to ease my mind about transitioning to their office. I received a few reminders(not an absurd or annoying amount) about the appointment, which is good because it is so easy to forget when leaving from work for an appointment. Upon entering the facility, I was blown away at how modern and clean the facility was and the efficiency and ease of check-in. Additionally, everyone greeted me with smiles on their faces. The dental assistant guided me through the x-ray process, and she was personable. Dr. Sabiha came in minutes later, and she asked me about any concerns. She also mentioned not seeing any irregularities on my x-rays, and then I was given goggles before she began my cleaning.She also tested my gums for pockets, although she stated she doubted I had any issues, she wanted to be sure. Wow, never had that happen before at any dentist/hygienist I had ever seen for a teeth cleaning/exam! She also guided me through the process of checking my gums and my cleaning. She is so knowledgeable and generally personable. By the way,When I was leaving the exam room, I noticed their immaculate stock room. Everything was organized and in its wrapping. Overall, I am impressed and would recommend the practice to anyone looking for a new dentist, or someone who needs an honest dentist who will not quote risky or insane procedures for the sake of billing dollars.

Experiencia fantástica: This is by far the best experience I've ever had at a dental office. Dr. Samad is extremely skilled (artistically speaking as well, which is so important when you're dealing with your teeth), professional, patient and meticulous about her work. The facility is sparkling clean (something I'm extremely sensitive about given my Islamic faith) and the staff is super friendly and welcoming. This place is really a gem for Buffalo and WNY - if you're from the suburbs just take the drive to Hertel. I greatly appreciate the care I was given by Dr. Samad and her staff. I can't say enough good things about this place.

Dr. Samad was above and beyond, not to mention the hygienist cleaned my teeth very well and took her time and performed a very careful cleaning, differently from other places where they just rush through it. Experiencia negativa: As a new patient, new to the area, I’m disappointed that this wasn’t a good fit. The hygienist was amazing! Gentle, respectful and made me feel confident about my teeth. However, the office has since cancelled two different appointments due to the doctor being out of town. Upon rescheduling a third time and text confirmation, with more time taken off of work, I arrived and they didn’t have me scheduled. I was hopeful for a great experience given the reviews but the search continues.

I've had the experience of working with other doctors, and have seen first hand poor patient treatment being provided, but you won't get that with her. She is very thorough, patient, and honest about the treatment you will need. She's the only Dr. I trust to do my work!

Experiencia fantástica: I had a few root canals done around 12 years ago in a different country that were not done properly. I visited multiple dentists since then, had an abscess that I had to go to ER for, I had multiple headaches resonating into one of the root canals and no one ever could figure out this issue until Dr. Sabiha Samad pointed out that they had to be redone. Now they are fixed and all my symptoms are gone! Great doctor, very thorough, smart and professional. I would give a million stars if I could.

Experiencia fantástica: I had no wait for my appointment at all, and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. The dental hygienist took his time to explain my X-rays to me, and did a flawless job with my cleaning (especially since I hadn't been to a dentist in years!). Very clean and relaxed facility, and I was at ease the whole time, which is a pleasant change from other dentists I've seen in the area. Also, their two-cleanings special is an unbeatable value, and by itself is cheaper than my insurance premiums.

Experiencia fantástica: Very impressed with the professional atmosphere. The woman at the front desk was very nice and the check in process was quick and easy. The X-ray tech was nice and once we got them taken I was promptly taken care of by the hygienist who was probably the most up beat and happy hygenist I have ever met. After that the dentist stopped by to double check everything and review my x-rays. I don't think I have ever had such a streamlined experience and will be coming back if I can.

Experiencia fantástica: My dentist took such great care of my teeth today. I went to get a cleaning after not have being seen for almost 2 years. My mouth/ teeth feel so much better. He took his time and even rescheduled me just to make sure there was enough time when I originally set up my initial visit. You don't run by this type of service very often and for that I'm grateful.

Second a warm friendly greeting when I entered the building. lastly very professional service. The demtist took the time to talk to me and explain what was going on with my teeth. O yea they have a hand held xray machine. It looks like a gun.

I was only in for a routine cleaning with no issues that would require another visit so I can only write about my experience with this particular routine procedure. They were able to go through all the x-rays and exams I needed after time away due to the pandemic and put my mind at ease. The hygienist was excellent and have me insight I had not heard before regarding my dental care. Dr. Samad is personable and very knowledgeable, she was able to resolve a cavity I had in 20 minutes where other places would take an hour. I would recommend them to anyone who wants a dentist who not only cares but who values your time and knows what's they're doing at a very high level. 5/5 experience and 5/5 for actually wanting to go back in 6 months

Experiencia negativa: ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE. Absolutely unacceptable level of customer service. I was called at 10:30AM on a work day to confirm my appointment. Because I did not call back by 2:00PM that same day (on a work day), my appointment was canceled. I did not receive any "system text messages" to confirm that Val assured me I received, and was not able to confirm via email as I could at previous appointments. When I was able to call barely more than 24 hours later, my appointment was refused and the office manager was extremely rude and inconsiderate. I rearranged my schedule and took time off of work to attend this appointment which I scheduled months ago and appropriately planned for. I will never be going back. Despite multiple excellent visits with Dr. Samad, this is horrible customer service. My inability to call back during a four hour window DURING A WORK DAY should not result in an appointment cancellation. Ridiculous.

Experiencia fantástica: This team is amazing! Super friendly, thorough and educates you with exactly what is going on. They always offer up more information without me having to pry. Their tech/ tools are all very updated, everything is extremely clean, and their process (check in/ waiting time) is efficient. They are extremely transparent with pricing and what insurance covers and doesn’t and will do the backend work of reaching out to your insurance provider to ensure coverage before committing to products and procedures. I can’t say enough good things about this team!

However, the Dr and assistant made me feel super comfortable and kept me distracted the whole time with their good jokes…when it was over I didn’t even know they already pulled my tooth, I had to ask! Highly recommend this place!
