Experiencia fantástica: Update July 15, 2026 During my visit earlier this week I experienced the same high-quality care at Ballston Dental Care. Registered Dental Hygienist Danielle and Dr. Matney were courteous, helpful, and careful during my exam and cleaning. Scheduling has been easy, and the office is close to the Ballston Metro station for bus and train access. These are pretty good signs that the practice is being operated under very high standards of dental hygiene and patient care. Earlier post: I came to Dr Matney’s office in search of a restorative dentist whose office was relatively easy to get to from my home using public transportation. The experience has been very good. His staff have been helpful and supportive, his hygienists have been especially effective, and Dr. Matney himself has been a very positive and helpful provider. I regret not remembering the name of the hygienist who treated me earlier this week; she was amazing . . . such an improvement over the hygienists I recently saw. For instance, during the process of cleaning my teeth, she made a point of making sure that suction was doing its job, so that I never thought I was about to drown or gag. This was so unlike my experience with the dental hygienist at the practice I went to earlier this year. Also, over the past decade or so I’ve sensed a trend where hygienists want to tell me what I’m doing wrong with the care of my teeth and gums. That didn’t happen this time, and I greatly appreciate it. I learned how to focus on my dental care, and left the office knowing more about how to better manage my dental health. My takeaway is that I’ve found a skilled dentist who operates a high quality dental practice. Works for me, thank you.

I was your classic case of someone who never really liked going to the dentist and let it fall through the cracks over the pandemic and onward. A dental emergency led me to Ballston dental care in 2024. From the beginning they recognized my nervousness and embarrassment over my teeth, took great and careful care of me and never once made me feel shamed. They helped guide me in the right direction for wisdom teeth removal (which was surprisingly easy, even in my late 30s!), painless fixed my cavities, and helped me make the decision to get Invisalign. First, their price for Invisalign couldn’t be beat (trust me - it was thousands less than anywhere else) and their care in that process was excellent. Now I have a gorgeous, cavity free mouth, straight white teeth and I’m no longer someone scared to go to the dentist. Instead, it’s become a standard part of my health care and I’m BEYOND glad I chose Ballston dental care. Would recommend them to absolutely anyone.

They are always helpful and encouraging, and each time I have an appointment, they show me the progress and explain the process. I appreciate the close examination Dr. Matney gives me each time I come in -- not just "youre good, carry on." It's more like, "let's polish this side of this tooth to allow it to turn better" or "these teeth are moving, but still have a way to go." His assistant always gives me good insights into Invisalign because she went through it and understands the process first-hand. This is a super clean, super professional, super welcoming practice.

Although I wasn’t his patient ( yet) he called me back right away and put me at ease. When I visited the next day I learned I needed a crown. My first! I have always dreaded going to the dentist due to bad childhood experiences, but Dr Matney really eased my anxiety. He was so gentle and kind, very thorough, and took the time to go over what was needed. He offered me laughing gas which i had never had, and it made a world of difference. Because of his knowledge, expertise and demeanor, I will keep coming back. He eased my fears and anxiety, and I feel confident in his skilled hands. A shout out to his assistant as well, who was absolutely amazing too.

Experiencia fantástica: Yesterday (August 2025), I was scheduled to get some work done with Ballston Dental Care and Dr. Matney. After getting ready for the procedures, Dr. Matney recommended that we wait because the outcome would not have been ideal for me. This included me needed to go to another oral care provider. It is uncommon (in my view) for a health care provider to forego revenue for their practice and recommend waiting or even sending a patient to another place for health care. This says a lot of great things about Dr. Matney and his practice. I can't recommend them strongly enough. Thank you Dr. Matney!

It still feels like the same wonderful practice: everyone is warm, the space is gorgeously styled (often according to the season) - but now in a beautiful new office space with tons of natural light. Parking is easy to find nearby (or a garage). I have some anxiety associated with dentistry, and they truly make me feel comfortable and cared for. Their professionalism, kindness, and expertise shine through in every interaction. Five stars isn't enough - I'd give them ten stars if I could!

The doctor and his staff explained each step of the process and answered clarification questions I had. Appointments were scheduled to work around my schedule and at the earliest dates possible for me. The process was pain free due to the competence of the doctor and his staff. My new teeth look and function so much better — they look like natural teeth in terms of shape, color, and positioning — fixing some six decades of wear and tear on my natural teeth.
