Experiencia negativa: So-called doctor Ruth Adkins is a maniac And so is her hygienist. I was greeted with an attitude by the hygienist, and I left soaking wet due to the incompetence of Ruth Adkins and her hygienist who has 30 years of So-called experience. I told the hygienist that she was hurting my mouth during the x-ray and that pissed her off. The rest of the appointment was terrible. She went next-door and spoke to another hygienist who was with a patient, that I was complaining that she was hurting me. I was quiet. I was calm and I just told her ouch that’s painful. She did not like that. Then she comes back into the room and puts the bib on me (I just wanted to be finished, I should have left then)and went to do the water tool in my mouth. She Is not paying attention to what she’s doing because she’s so angry that I told her that she’s hurting me so she wet the entire back of my shirt into my underwear and then told me it was my fault. At that point I finally got up and left. I said I’m going get up and I’m going leave so I got up and I left and as I was leaving the receptionist asked me what happened and I told her what happened. Dr. Ruth Atkins came out of her office or wherever she was. Ruth did not hear anything of my side of what happened and came out and started yelling at me. I’m an adult. This grown woman came out and started berating me. I called the police. I wanted to file a complaint against them for wetting my property. (Can’t do that, by the way) Ruth kept a condescending tone telling me it’s just water and she has 30 years of experience, but my shirt is wet so where is her experience? I’ve been to the dentist tons of times in the last how many decades and I have never left with a wet shirt. I have never had a hygienist getting mad at me because she was hurting me. I would not go there if I were you, I would never ever set foot in this place. And then the police trespass me as if they were doing me a disservice! Yes, by the way being trespassed can be a mutual thing. I don’t want go there and they don’t want me to come back there and I agree because why would I ever want to come back here. This is my only day off. I have a ton of errands to run and now I am soaking wet. I recorded the entire incident. Dr. Ruth Atkins came out into the lobby and involved other patients that were sitting there waiting for a service that heard the entire situation. She accused me of creating a disturbance in her practice but the only people that were screaming and being rude was Dr. Atkins in her hygienist that’s it I asked them if they were treating me so badly because of the color of my skin because I cannot figure out why they were being so rude. Some people are just bad people I came to the dentist expecting humanity and decency. No one should be treated the way that I was treated just now. I live with morals, when you’re wrong. You should say you’re wrong. Take responsibility. This is your business. Speak to your staff. You do not take your staff’s incompetence out on a patient. So, if you want decency, I would recommend that you don’t go to mediocre Ruth. They are horrible people. Not the receptionist she’s a sweetheart, and she should find another job. She knows that what they did was wrong. She is the only one with any humanity and decency at this practice and And so-called Dr. Ruth Adkins does not deserve her. I cannot believe how incompetent and the irresponsible Ruth really is. They should be ashamed of themselves and embarrassed. People trust you to provide a Service. I filled a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Oh and by the way they have Better Business Bureau on their wall, but when you search on the website, they are not in accredited business and they already have a complaint against them in the system. Just FYI.

Every person I had an interaction with treated me as if I were the only patient in the facility. Plus, Dr Young was amazing. If you need dental work, Aspen is the only Practice you need to visit!!! Experiencia negativa: Absolutely horrible. Just chipped a front tooth and needed it filled back in. They did the last one and it fell out so after a diagnoses they asked me $2,839.00 because they said I should get a cleaning first after telling me everything looked good and no cavities. Ridiculous

This was my first visit to Aspen Dental, Lexington, Ky, and I highly recommend them. I went to have a broken molar fixed and they worked me right in and took care of the problem. Experiencia negativa: I had an emergency, my crown broke off. I went to see them. They were able to get me in. They took me back did x rays, a dental exam, and then the Dr came in to see me. Told me what needed to be done, got a dental plan together, then I went up front to schedule what I needed and get the cost of it all. I was then informed, after already being there for almost 2 hours, that they were out of my network, could not use my insurance, but they would give me a discount. It was 29.00 it of pocket for them to do nothing(I had even asked the dentist if he could do something with the sharp part of the tooth that broke, he said yes, he could file it down, but ended up not even doing that. ) went on to the next patient. After paying the 29.00 i was told to get any thing else done that it would cost 6,500.00 And that does bout include the cost of the endodontist that they were going to send me to, before they even started on their end. Who sees a patient out of network without telling them, beforehand, and discuss pricing, beforehand? Then to add insult to injury they just threw my 1800.00 crown in the trash, right before my eyes. In my opinion that is poor service and inconsiderate.

Experiencia negativa: No offense but how is this an emergency dentist if you're operating with the stated hours? M-Friday 9-5 (even ending at 1 PM instead of 5 PM on Friday?) is less than a regular dentist. I wasn't able to get through the phone line on Friday at 3:30 PM. Note this seems to be true for all Aspens right now not just this location. Maybe I've made a mistake, or maybe caught you all on a holiday week I didn't know about, in which case I apologize and that's my mistake. But otherwise if I haven't made a mistake, this does not deserve to be branded as an "emergency dentist" and people should honestly not refer to it as such. The only thing that made it an emergency dentist was the expanded hours I had 30 minutes to find a dentist open today on Friday to avoid having to wait until Monday, and unfortunately wasted my time calling Aspen. Like I said this is not a complaint about this specific location but the entire business.

Experiencia negativa: Went to have a cavity filled, after 3 times coming back for it to be repaired and adjusted due to mass amount of pain the staff tried to charge me for another exam and refused to remove the damaged filling. The staff is just extremely rude and unprofessional. You are not suppose to go to the dentist and walk out with pain you never had before. A business that intentionally causes pain and further issues so they can continue to charge you and ruin your dental health.

Experiencia positiva: I when there to get a tooth extracted, as I was in pain, and they just pushed it off to the next day! As I was already there for 2 hours, they still had 30 minutes before they were about to closed. They could take 20 minutes and help me! Knowing I had 2 hour drive back and forth. But over all everyone was really nice for the most part! And I really like that they go into details with you and give you the bigger picture of what’s going on with your teeth.

Second time coming to this dentist, I withheld my review after my initial visit for a broken tooth where the oral surgeon was so rough I was bleeding DAYS later and they just wouldn't call me back, and leaving that the military prescribed stronger ibuprofen than I got, well that was awesome. This time, I called to make an appointment, I am currently almost an hour past my appointment time, which whatever, but no call to warn me? Whats the point of an appointment if I have to just sit and wait? Zero care from the team, just annoyed looks and responses to questions

Experiencia fantástica: As a practicing orthodontist for over 30 years, I have come to know a lot of colleagues. Dr. Addison Young is highly professional with a deft touch that was easy to take. This is a gift that not all dentists can claim. But the reason I was at Aspen Dental - Lexington, was to have my son, Dr. Worth Baker care for my teeth as I have cared for his over the years. It was a pleasure and an honor. As for the staff, they are so sweet and accommodating they make the whole experience fun and efficient. Experiencia fantástica: Please read all the way to the end I swear I'll get to my point! I went to this Aspen dental after initially seeing another one. I wanted to start going to one closer to home. The first office was incredibly rude at the get go as soon as I walked in the door said "idk if we will even be able to see you today because we don't take (insurance name)" I told them "I told the lady I'd already called my insurance and verified prior to arriving and confirming with staff in your office the day prior the doctors here were covered under my insurance" and I was responded with a scoff and she continued to walk around saying "well we just cancelled someone elses appointment and they had (same insurance as I did but with another state) so I really doubt you will be covered here but I guess we can try and see if your visit is covered" It was an awful experience my first time going there which was also my first dental visit in over a decade so I was really discouraged and didn't even want to go back in fact I almost left prior to them telling me I was in fact covered solely just on the interaction with that particular staff member. During consultation we didn't truly go over all my options and pricing very well and left out information I later learned was crucial for me to know. Not informing me of pros and cons of each option I had and leaving out some options entirely. I scheduled here at the Lexington location because I wanted to be closer to home and my first visit with them was amazing. The staff was friendly and kind at the desk, the doctor and staff doing my cavity fillings were kind, patient, and willing to take the time to go over my options for the other dental procedure I would need later on next week. Financial took the time to be patient with my fiance and I as we sorted what would be the best option for my teeth as well as our budget. And I really appreciated that as a very anxious individual with dental anxiety. I feel very comfortable about coming back and being treated kindly and respectfully.
Experiencia negativa: I went in for a dental emergency to have two teeth fixed, one with a severe infection. After they took every X-ray and digital picture possible to drain my insurance benefits, they referred me somewhere else for another procedure. Then continue to tell me that to fix my (not so bad) teeth would be a minimum of 3,000 and up to 10,000 for all that was needed!!! I will be getting a second consultation elsewhere because I greatly feel that this place just wants my money. I gave them two stars because scheduling was easy and the staff was friendly.

Experiencia negativa: My fiancé was in serious pain with a bad tooth. The lady at the front desk was very unkind. When a person is in pain, you don't speak down to them. This needs to be addressed immediately. Before this happened I would have sung praises for the way they took care of his mother, they took really good care of her. This woman at the desk, not the one in front but the woman behind her, she needs a lesson in empathy and respect!!

Experiencia positiva: Front desk staff rude and abrasive. X ray tech dental hygienist and dental assistant AMAZING. I have so much anxiety about all things dentistry and they were kind and supportive. The actual dentist damaged tooth next to the one extracted and was very passive aggressive repeatedly expressing his annoyance with how hard tooth was to extract.
Experiencia fantástica: I had a tooth that needed to be extracted. Got me in, did the exam, consultation, and extracted it in 2-2/12 hrs. The entire staff was professional and courteous. Out of pocket cost was cheap. Couldn't ask for more.

Experiencia positiva: Staff were pleasant. What I absolutely did not like was the open space environment between “exam rooms”. While I was in the chair, I could clearly hear the patients conversations in the next room, which I did not appreciate. There should be more privacy between the rooms. Update - July 16, 2025 - My previous review was from my initial visit to this location last year. I have had several other visits since then and I am happy to say that they have all been much better. Perhaps my first visit may have been negatively impacted due to the loud patient that was located next to me. But all of my other visits have been much more positive. The staff that I have encountered are all very pleasant and professional. As mentioned, I have had multiple appointments over the past few months in preparation for getting both upper and lower partial dentures. I was just there today to have a slight adjustment to them and I am quite pleased with the outcome. My only regret is that it took me so long to have this work done. Now I can truly enjoy eating whatever I want again.

Experiencia negativa: I've had great experiences with the dental care itself at this office—the dentist, dental assistants, and hygienist are all professional, friendly, and thorough. I truly value the quality of care they provide and would like to continue being a patient here. Unfortunately, my recent experience with the front desk staff, specifically the paitent coordinator, was frustrating and disappointing. I had a billing discrepancy between what the office charged and what was outlined in my insurance Explanation of Benefits (EOB). When I asked for clarification, I was met with a dismissive attitude and a lack of professionalism. Instead of taking the time to explain the issue, I was told—rather condescendingly—that I was only charged for a cleaning and still owed the full amount for my crown, as if the concern was whether I could afford it. That was never the issue—the concern was about being overcharged for a previous visit. What made the situation worse was that, before I could even provide my EOB for review, the patient coordinator loudly announced the cost of my crown stating it would be less expensive as previously stated and that it would even out the discrepancy across the open office—in front of other patients. I found this to be a serious lapse in patient privacy and basic courtesy. It's disappointing because the clinical side of this practice is excellent, but the front office experience—especially dealing with insurance and billing questions—has been unwelcoming and unprofessional. I hope this issue can be addressed, as I'd really like to continue receiving care from the wonderful clinical team here.

Experiencia negativa: I can't tell you about the doctors, but I can tell you the automated scheduling system is a scam, the office doesn't acknowledge appointments scheduled through it. Then when you show up for your appointment which was confirmed by Aspen Dental, they don't even try to see why you are there. I was scheduled for another appointment the same day, 5.5 hours later, and it wasn't until then I was asked the reason for the appointment. FYI, this location does not do the Motto Clear Aligners. I don't know why I was allowed to schedule the appointment in the first place. No phone call to ask why, just a confirmation text and email from Aspen confirming your appointment. As a former receptionist, I would have been fired for the lack of communication this office demonstrated.

Experiencia negativa: DONT GO HERE WASTE OF TIME!!! I had an appointment for clear aligners and called twice to confirm my appointment yesterday. I get there today and they said I never confirmed even though I confirmed with the receptionist yesterday. I told her the appointment was for clear aligners. Today, they tell me they don’t do clear aligners there anymore. Absolute waste of time. I could’ve made an appointment at another place as this was my only day off. I am so disappointed and don’t know when I can get an appointment anywhere else.

Experiencia negativa: They are rude to start. The actual repair made lasted less than 9 months and they refused to fix there dental work when it split. Went to another location after calling them and they looked at what was done and he even said it was substandard work. He fixed it and showed me what should've been done the first time. Mind you he is also in the same Aspen Dental chain just different city. Go to another location other than Lexington. I would give a negative rating if allowed. Called the BBB also. I wasn't the first for this location.

I want to pay for the denture from next fiscal year which starts July 1. Not a hard thing to do but she either couldn't understand that or just didn't want to!

Experiencia positiva: On a positive note, everyone I spoke with was very nice. Although, many many X-rays were taken, no one was able to identify the source of my pain in my tooth. I wasn’t given any instruction on what I could do to help with my pain. So, no treatment , no cleaning of teeth, and was referred to an Endodontics Dr. , with appointment a week away. I’m just hoping that I receive some guidance about the pain in my tooth. Also, I was a little concerned about the cleanliness of office, and the not changing of gloves between touching my mouth then touching X-ray machine. Unfortunately, at this time I give Aspen Dental a 3. If I continue with Aspen, I’m hoping to give a better rating in the future.

Experiencia fantástica: On a normal day, no one really wants to go to the dentist "Anxiety", however I had been putting off getting my smile back for way too long and I did want to go. My first visit to Dr. Young's office was a "No Worry's" kind of morning. After checked in, each specialist conducted their task with utmost professionalism and respect. Then Dr. Young walks in and greets me with a family joke, which set a good tone. He listened to my need and request and then explained my path to that outcome. Now I am actually looking forward to my next appointment because it is Step II on my path of getting my smile back!

Experiencia negativa: They advertise an average price of $8000 for all on four dental implant dentures. With free evaluation you get there they do their x-rays evaluations, and all that say that you’re in good shape for the implants no issues should be easy to do Then they also tell you about any other issues you may have which seems really good you go to find out the price for you and they are around $34,000 of which 15 to $16,000 is the actual Four on one denture the others just stuff they tried to talk you into doing and when you ask why it’s not the $ 8000 for the advertise All they can do is try and throw BSat you. Could not explain why they can’t do the $8000 price because they already told me that I was a good candidate with no issues. All the people dealt with were extremely Polite and courteous, They just cannot give you the price that they advertise so it’s just a bait and switch scheme very disappointed

Experiencia fantástica: The Aspen Dental practice in Lexington has provided my dental care for ten years or more. Most recently I lost a crown that was 30 years old and the dentists there reshaped the tooth and made a new crown that fits my bite perfectly. The bookkeeper also helped me have my HSA payment sent directly to them. Their appointment reminders are useful, and they have never had to keep me waiting more than a few minutes.

Experiencia negativa: I hardly ever leave a review for businesses, but my experience with this place was painfully bad I want to save someone else from the same situation. The worst part is I never even made it past the waiting room. At my arrival, I walk up to the front desk and the receptionist doesn’t greet me or even acknowledge me. I wrote my information on the sign in sheet hoping I was doing the right thing since she wasn’t going to give me any instructions. Icing on the cake, I had an appointment, but because I didn’t confirm my appointment the one time they called me less than 24 hours before my appointment, they cancelled my appointment which I found out when I got there. I showed them the text saying my appointment was on that day and to call if it need to be rescheduled or cancelled but nothing about confirming & the receptionist said “she doesn’t know how all that works.” Avoid the headache & find another dentist office!

Experiencia negativa: Got inplants and full dentures in the lex office. The dentures never did fit and rocked on the inplants, the teeth are so flat that it's more like smashing your food not chewing, I went back so many times I got fed up, and went else where, I got dentures that fit, dont rock, and looks great. I payed 10,000 out of pocket at aspen dental, I payed for the best packet that was suppose to guarante them for 7 years, needless to say nothing was done to fix them, It's a shame that I had go through all this when aspen dental should have fixed them in the first place.

Experiencia fantástica: I just had my first appointment with Aspen Dental today. Everything about it was great. Making the appointment was easy. I got lots of information and reminders through email and text leading up to the day of the appointment, which I really need, or I'll forget to go. When I made the appointment, I expressed my fear of dental visits, and they were very comforting and compassionate, and made me feel like I would be well cared for. The check-in process was easy, with a well-crafted questionaire on a tablet. When they did my x-rays, the technician showed me a trick I'd never heard of before to make sure the bitewing tabs didn't painfully dig into my tori (IYKYK). As my exam was being performed, everyone was very gentle and made sure I was comfortable. The doctor spent time explaining everything to me, and I never felt rushed. And the checkout was fast and easy, and everyone at the front desk was friendly and pleasant. Thanks for being awesome today, Aspen Dental crew!

Experiencia fantástica: It was amazing, absolutely plan on going back. Dr. Baker was fantastic and the nurse (I have awful pregnancy brain) was so sweet and reassuring the whole time. They pulled a broken wisdom tooth with very very little discomfort same day as my first appointment. I have awful anxiety about dentistry work and they put it all at ease. 12/10 absolutely recommend!

The young lady that worked with mom the most was extra sweet and kind and I wish I could remember her name. I will find out on the next visit and mention her name. Experiencia negativa: I've been try for a month and a half to get 3 of my back teeth pulled. My insurance has tried to find someone to get me into. Well Aspen dental had an opening but when I went there they focused only on my front teeth. I kept asking why and explaining, that my insurance sent me there for high risk patients, like myself to get 3 teeth extracted. They have a procedure to talk to you about all the other teeth you have and then bill insurance and me for the procedure. They said I'd have to pay almost $500 out of pocket in order to see the oral surgeon. I had someone waiting for to take me home and I had already been there almost 2 hours and they were about half done talking to me. But I had to go cause the person that was waiting for had to go to work. I just don't have $500 I'm on a budget My insurance told me I had $2000 cap for the extraction. But Aspen was using it all up in talking about my other teeth.
