Fantastic experience: Amazing service and extremely good doctor. I got the same day appointment and root canal was done in the same sitting. I was in pain but couldn’t get any appointment from any dentist in Des Moines for at least 2 weeks. Solace Dental was different - fast and competent. I don’t have enough words to thank them for giving me relief from the toothache.

Negative experience: I’m disappointed with how I was treated by one front desk staff member. I had questions about a $50 charge I believed was an error and had proof, but instead of helping, they were dismissive and even told me “that if I read the bill” when I have a Master Degree I’m very well knowledgeable. I called because I was under the impression that this matter was handled. The dentist is kind and helpful, and Brenda at the front desk is always professional, which I appreciate. However, this experience negatively impacted my overall impression and will never return back.

I’ve always had significant anxiety around dental work, but for the first time I experienced a completely pain-free extraction. His expertise, along with the professionalism of his team, truly stands out. I highly recommend them!

Negative experience: Said I needed 5 fillings done. Got a second opinion from another dentist that’s said I only needed 3 and the other 2 were pre cavities. Tried to make me get services that weren’t required. Would not recommend!

Fantastic experience: Dr. Skinner is great! The staff is always friendly at the front desk when I come in. Fatima always does a wonderful job with the initial cleaning/flouride/radiographs. I don't dread the dentist the way I used to before coming here. I hadn't been to the dentist in around 10 years before coming to Solace and now go every 6 months because it's actually a good exprience.

Fantastic experience: Amazing service! We were seen on-time and we left the office at roughly the time they said our appointment would end. All the staff and doctor were knowledgeable and informative. The registered dental hygienist, Fatima, was so gentle when she did my cleaning - I could have fallen asleep! The front desk ladies were nice and attentive. The dentist was thorough and I was very pleased with the depth of his explanation about any work we needed done. Five stars!

Fantastic experience: My first visit to Solace Dental was to extract a couple of teeth that were really bugging me. Under a bit of duress, I was able to get in early the next day. From the moment I stepped in the door, I felt at ease. The staff greeted me with open arms and I was immediately escorted into the dentist chair greeted by a charming dental assistant who was stellar the entire time. Dr. Skinner was incredibly skilled in his work as the procedure took only 30 minutes. He really took the time to explain everything. Wow. I do believe I have found a new dental care home! Solace Dental is truly all about "comfort". Thanks to all!

Fantastic experience: I came in with a dental emergency last minute in a Friday and was welcomed with open arms, quick service, and professional staff. I have extreme anxiety when it comes to dentists and they made it as seamless as possible. The Dr was very polite and made sure to explain every detail within my care plan and throughout the procedure. Highly recommend.

I was in the exam room on time, the cleaning was done thoroughly and expediently, and the staff was all very friendly. Elizabeth, the dental hygienist did an excellent job with the cleaning and made it a fun time too.

Fantastic experience: This dental office will be mine for all future needs. I had a horrible experience with Aspen Dental that installed the fear of life in me regarding dentists. IMO of all my years of dental visits, Aspen Dental acted unprofessional, makeshift and extremely careless to say the very least. I went to Solace after a year plus of living with a cracked molar tooth. I engaged in hygiene visit and once completed the dentist came in. After exam he showed me on a 3D board with X-rays and draw how he would pull and replace with a permanent bridge. Also the opposite side molar is cracking but not split yet and he found it when Aspen did not! The dentist with his Superman bifocals is something else. He will crown the opposite side. Filled out all kind of forms online prior so didn’t have to do a darn thing once arrived except stress out waiting. Not that I want to go to a dentist everyday but this is the place to go. And hey, if you are reading this with questions about their knowledge, experience and patient concerns they get an 11 on a 10 scale. Update: 6-27-25. Brought my son here for yearly check up. Caught stuff in x-rays previous dentist failed to and showed me, explained to me and proved. Fixed the affected areas and sealed. Extremely impressive and like myself, a realist IMO. Visit was total of $2,100.00 or so, of which $500.00 was not covered by initial dental insurance. The money out of my pocket was with no regrets whatsoever. The upfront staff is spot on with their billing and invoicing protocols! No surprises at the end of service! Of which happens at so many other dental offices. The doctor and upfront office staff are not reading from a textbook program on how to operate a dental office, etc. These people are applying real experience with honesty and professionalism in many ways! Use them, you won’t be sorry.

My insurance didn't cover it all and was willing to work out on a payment plan. We are so blessed by everyone. Fantastic experience: I moved to the Des Moines Area recently and needed a damaged crown replaced quickly. Solace Dental fit me in quickly and got my records transferred from my previous dentist. Dr. Skinner is pleasant, professional and accomplished the first stage of the crown replacement efficiently. I was very relieved and pleased.

Negative experience: Wish I could go lower than 1 star but this will have to do. I’ve seen this office first hand do everything they can to scam someone out of thousands. This patient was suggested to get this piece of equipment that cost $6000. Without agreeing to it the charge was added to the bill. Also, this same patient was told they had 10 cavities. Yes 10 at one time. The dentist was then very very eager to have the patient get them filled and pay for them. This patient ended up going to another office for a second opinion and they were told there was only 2 cavities. Solace Dental would have filled and charged 8 non existent cavities.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been going to Dr Skinner at Solace Dental for years even after moving 30 min away. Going to the dentist isn’t high on anyone’s list of fun things to do but Dr Skinner and everyone at Solace makes an anxious inducing experience a lot more manageable. He takes care of your issues, shoots straight and doesn’t try and talk you into any unnecessary work. Plus the whole staff is incredibly warm and friendly and we always have great conversations when I’m in the chair.

Fantastic experience: One of the few places that immediately took me in for an emergency appointment. Got all 4 of my wisdom teeth extracted promptly by Dr. Bill Skinner, who did an amazing job and everyone who worked there was kind to me.

Positive experience: I had to get a root canal for Valentine’s Day. Not great. But the experience at Solace dental made it as smooth as possible. No pain or even any discomfort. The staff were friendly and helpful and I was done in an hour.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Skinner and the rest of the team at Solace Dental are absolutely amazing. I didn’t have the opportunity to go to the dentist until I was 10 years old and as you can imagine that resulted in a lot of fillings and it always felt like the dentists before Dr Skinner were never very friendly and that made it hard to want to go back to the dentist. It was always a goal of mine to get Invisalign when I could afford it on my own. When I met Dr. Skinner he really listened to me and he was so incredibly kind to me. We made a plan and I stuck to all the necessary treatments in order to get my Invisalign. I moved to Omaha about mid way through my treatment plan and I still drove to Des Moines every time for adjustments on my aligners. Now that my treatment is completed I just feel so grateful I found Dr. Skinner and his team. I smile in pictures again and I felt confident on my wedding day which was a big goal of mine!! I would recommend Solace dental to anyone.

Fantastic experience: The young lady was very polite, gentle and very thorough. She checked everything, took several different kinds of x-rays. Then she measured recession, shrinkage and the teeth. Then she did the cleaning and flossing. After the doctor made his inspection she applied the fluoride. She was very gentle through the entire process.
