Not only that, but I would say this was the fastest I have been in and out of the Dental chair in my entire life, and I have a life of 74 years to compare it to! Negative experience: I brought my daughter here when she was just a week old to have her ties released. As a new mom, I trusted them. They charged me $1000 upfront, making it seem like I’d be reimbursed after she had gotten her insurance. After calling multiple times, I only got under 200$ back. That alone was upsetting, but what’s worse is what I’ve learned since. A year later, I found out they completely missed her buccal ties. No one explained that we should have been working with a therapist before and after the procedure to help her mouth movement. Now my daughter is struggling with extreme eating issues, and the damage is so much harder to fix because she’s older. This experience has been heartbreaking. I thought I was doing the right thing for my baby, but instead I feel misled and let down. We finally have a supportive team helping us now, but I can’t get back the time that was lost or undo the struggles my daughter has faced because of this office’s lack of thoroughness and guidance.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Tanios has retired and Dr. Aziz has taken over. I've had a cleaning and a filling done by him in the past few months. He is personable, and also willing to discuss various options if you have teeth/gums issues. My next visit is in April, and though most people don't like going to the dentist, I'm sure it'll be just fine. The waiting room area has been redone nicely too.

Fantastic experience: Dr.Aziz and the entire team are amazing. They are patient and caring to all their patients which helps with any nerves you may have. Totally recommend them from children to adults you are going to get a great service.

Fantastic experience: Firstly, this practice was recently transferred to Dr. Aziz, and is now named D&G Smile. However, I am confident that he is just as excellent as the outgoing Dr. Tanios-Rafla. I came in with 4 cavities identified from a prior dental visit. I wanted to look into laser dentistry as I heard it is a painless way to fill cavities and resolve other dental issues. I am a bit nervous in the dental chair, but Dr. Aziz took the time to explain exactly what the procedure would entail. In the end, I was able to have all 4 cavities filled in a 30-minute session without any anesthesia or the unpleasant noise and pressure from a drill :) I would not hesitate to recommend a visit here if you live around East Brunswick

Fantastic experience: Dr. Aziz and his team are absolutely wonderful! I recently had my newborn son’s lip tie and cheek tie revised. They follow the same process and use the same laser/technique as Dr. Tanios-Rafla did and that put me at great ease. My daughter had tie revisions done by Dr. Tanios 5 years ago so I was happy the process was identical down to utilizing the nursery to immediately breastfeed after the procedure, to also reviewing the exercises needed to prevent re-attachment. Everyone was so friendly, I got an appointment the very next day and I am incredibly grateful to Dr. Aziz and team and would highly recommend their practice for all tie revisions!

Fantastic experience: Both Dr. Aziz and Dr. Tanios-Rafla are wonderful. I took my newborn to be evaluated for tongue tie, and on examination, she was found to have not only tongue tie but upper lip and bilateral cheek ties. We decided it was best to correct these ties and as much as I was worried about the procedure, the doctors and their staff put my worries at ease. I was able to feel the laser on my hand prior to the procedure which calmed my nerves a bit. They made sure I understood the post-procedure instructions prior to the procedure itself and we followed up often to check on my daughter’s progress. There’s also a very helpful video on their website that shows the correct way of how to complete the exercises. They answered all my questions without hesitation and continue to follow up with us even in the ‘maintenance’ phase. I highly recommend their office!

Fantastic experience: I cannot say enough good things about this dental office! I take all three of my children here, and every visit has been a positive experience. The staff is incredibly welcoming, and they go above and beyond to make sure my kids feel comfortable and at ease. My youngest had a tongue tie revision, and I was nervous about the procedure, but the team was so patient, explaining everything and making sure we were all comfortable every step of the way. The procedure went smoothly, and the follow-up care has been wonderful. Highly recommend to any family looking for a caring, skilled, and truly family-friendly dental practice.

Negative experience: I took my kids to Tanios for 8 yrs. Recently, a new dr has come and I was never notified. I found out through a friend that there is someone new. I was surprised there was not a confirmation call for my kids upcoming appointment or a letter sent out at least to inform patients of the change. With thought, I decided to cancel the appointment. I received a call back asking why I canceled. The receptionist was honestly rude to me as she didn’t like my answer. I asked her if my kids had ever had xray there and she responded “you can tell whoever you’re consulting with, that your children have not”. Then I decided to have my husband deal with the release papers and the receptionist because at this point I was done with her poor attitude. After a few days, we found out in fact my child DID have x-ray there. So I was lied to. I feel at this point I had made the right decision on leaving the office all together due to lack of professionalism taking place there. What a shame.

Fantastic experience: This has been the best dentist experience I have ever had. I used to have so much anxiety going to the dentist. I would even faint occasionally due to my fear of needles. Now with the laser my fear is gone.

Fantastic experience: Dr Tanios is good. Got appointments quickly for Root canal, Tooth extraction. No pain and recovered quickly. Staff is good.

Negative experience: It’s time someone tells the truth about this practice. I don’t know how you go from “multiple cavities” (yet they wouldn’t specify how many), and needing a deep cleaning or else I’d “lose my teeth by 50” (that was verbatim). Went to get a second opinion and I had 3 mere fillings, teeth in good shape. She touts the use of some “laser”, which isn’t covered by insurance, but for what. To get more of your money, that’s what. Tons of shady things going on here. Google the history about fraudulent billing practices in the past. Though she has a knack for removing the truth. Go anywhere else. ETA: lmao @“sorry you feel that way”. That’s not an apology, that’s gaslighting. Unbelievable on a human level as well as medical level.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic staff and doctor. They take you in soon after arrival thus less anxiety. Dr.makes sure you get the best service needed and goes above and beyond to spare you pain in any procedure. Refreshing to be with a doctor with so much compassion and patience.

Fantastic experience: I moved to East Brunswick,Nj. I asked my old dentist for a recommendation. They gave me Dr Gina Tanios. Number. I called , made an appointment, and liked her and her staff. I needed a lot of work done. Dr. Tanios, explained the work needed. I felt very comfortable, so I proceeded with her recommendations and the work. I had a very bad infection ion an old tooth. She took her time, along with Ms Erica. And she removed the sist. They made me a “retainer “, so I didn’t have to worry about not having a front tooth. They checked it and after 7 months, I got my new tooth. Also, to match that tooth with others, I replaced f three other ones. I am beyond happy with my new teeth. I trust her and the office staff. Also. I received the best cleaning. She is my dentist. I still have more work to do. I know my teeth will be better for it. Thank you Dr. Tanios.

Fantastic experience: I am a 60 year old male with a lifelong history of sinus ear and headache problems. I developed TMJ in my ears that was so painful it was unbearable. Dr. Gina examined me and recommended a tongue tie procedure. The procedure only took a few minutes and all of my symptoms showed remarkable improvement in a few days. The procedure was relatively painless. And the stretching exercises are only painful for the first few days. I highly recommend anyone with a dental or jaw problem to make an appointment with her.

Fantastic experience: I went to have a tooth extraction and the whole team was wonderful. The Doctor and her crew were kind, trustworthy, and made sure I was feeling alright the whole time. I will admit I have a fear of dentist and procedures like the one I had and they made sure I was as comfortable as I could be while the procedure was taking place. My biology might have an issue with the pain killer but for the most part It went better than I expected. Afterwards I was giving instructions on how to keep my wound clean and safe as it heals. At the moment I am on my third day and the wound is a little sore and swollen still but from what I was told that is to be expected. Thank you all for your patience with me and your hard work.

Fantastic experience: I’m writing as I am nursing Soyra without a nipple guard with zero pain, no chomping and as a result(from what I have observed the past few days) a satiated baby! She already has great neck control and is just overall happy (except when she wakes up hangry in the middle of the night ) Thank you so much for taking care of her. Fantastic experience: Very happy with the service and expertise of Dr. Tanios and her staff. Front office staff was very accommodating and professional, was able to get an appointment within the week. Went for a tongue tie release for our son who was 5 weeks old. Procedure was done quick. Dr. Tanios clearly explained how to stretch post-release and provides support afterwards.

Fantastic experience: We had such a great experience getting both of my newborn son’s oral ties corrected. Dr. Tanios-Rafla was able to get us in right away, the same day we called. She has a great bedside manner, is very experienced and knowledgeable and the procedure was extremely quick. I love how they have a room to breastfeed immediately after. They also provided homeopathic drops to help with any pain. I would definitely recommend.

Fantastic experience: We were referred to Dr Tanios Rafla to correct our son’s ties. She and her staff are extremely kind and were helpful throughout the whole entire process, from making the appointment to following up with us after the procedure. I was extremely nervous to let my infant son have this tie release procedure done, but the staff was extremely supportive and sensitive to my first time mommy fears. The whole thing took about 3 minutes and my son drank a bottle in my arms right after. The work that Dr. Tanios did was a success and my son is now eating so much better and thriving. Fantastic experience: One of the most attentive Dentist I have ever visited. Dr. Gina performed laser tongue - tie release surgery on me and it was painless, and life changing fix for my speech difficulties. Dr. Gina handed me detailed instructions through the healing process and followed up regularly to assess how things were going while healing. As a 49 year old man who was tongue tied I consider her a God send.

Fantastic experience: We were referred to Dr. Tanios-Rafla for a consultation because our second child was born with a lip and tongue tie. She and her staff were great and took an extended time to explain the procedure and follow up required. After a month of breastfeeding support, my daughter was still not gaining enough weight and always crying on and off the breast. It was so sad to not satisfy my baby after such a great nursing experience with my five other children. Fantastic experience: My son was diagnosed with an upper lip and tongue tie by my wife’s lactation consultant, Kristin. Kristin recommended a few doctors she knew in the area and after contacting Dr. Tanios-Rafla’s office they were able to see us right away. The office staff explained all the financial obligations up front prior to our visit along with what the consultation/procedure visit would consist of. Dr. Tanios-Rafla was great with our son and the procedure took approximately 15 minutes to complete after the consultation and Dr. Tanios-Rafla wanted my wife to breastfeed immediately after the procedure to mitigate any bleeding and swelling. My wife and and I hope we don’t have to do the procedure again, the maintenance exercises are the hardest part, but if we do, we wouldn’t hesitate to see Dr. Tanios-Rafla again.

Fantastic experience: My family and I have been going to Dr. Rafla's office since 2011. We have had everything done here, including: cleanings, root canals, fillings, crowns, extractions, an implant, nightguards, and braces. The staff is always helpful and friendly, and the dentist is thorough and informative. They have advanced technology like lasers which make procedures quicker and less invasive, and you can leave with a crown the same day you walk in! We have never had a complaint, and we are grateful for all the people who work so hard at this office.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Gina has been my dentist for more than 6 years. I always find her to be very knowledgeable and her procedures are successful. Just recently, I went for pain in one of my teeth which had a large filling. She was able to save the tooth by modeling a similar tooth using the Cerec machine. Now I use the tooth as it is like a natural one.

Fantastic experience: I am absolutely terrified of the dentist! Finding Dr. Gina Tanios-Rafla was the best thing that could have happened to me! The staff is very pleasant and comforting when I arrive! They all know I'm petrified! Finding this dentist has changed my whole outlook on dental visits! The use of the laser to fill my teeth instead of the drill is absolutely wonderful! In one visit, she took out old fillings and fixed some new ones 15 to be exact without any needles or drilling! The laser is absolutely painless and fast! That visit was only about an hour long! I survived and left smiling! I'm still not thrilled about going to the dentist, but at least now I get there and walk out smiling! I highly recommend Dr. Tanios-Rafla to anyone that fears going to the dentist! You'll be glad you did! That laser is a wonderful thing! No Needles and No Pain! If you don't take care of your teeth, they'll go away!

Fantastic experience: Our family travels from Toms River to East Brunswick for all of our dental needs. Everyone in the office is knowledgeable and great at what they do. The state of the art technology that Dr. Tanios-Rafla uses is simply amazing. It’s one office I always look forward to visiting!

Fantastic experience: We live in North Carolina and had 3 attempts at revision of Tongue Tie/Lip Tie for my daughter which was done inadequately. Last month we were visiting NJ and since Gina had resolved Tongue Tie/Lip Tie for my son (we used to live in NJ back then), we thought we should get Gina's opinion as my daughter was still having feeding issues. Gina fixed her in one session when the doctors in Charlotte could not do it in 3 attempts. We have used Gina to resolve both our kids Tongue Tie and Lip Tie and she is just outstanding at her work. Highly recommend her!

Positive experience: Bi-Annual Cleaning: B- I just moved back to NJ looking for a dentist and selected this office because of all the five star reviews on Google. The reviews are so good and positive that I decided to pay the 10% out of network/pocket fee, so let’s give it a shot. My teeth are generally healthy and I have yet to have a cavity. My cleanings are standard. After settling into the chair I was told that a thorough/typical cleaning cannot be completed using all the instruments because of COVID-19. My cleaning was done, “like we use to do 50 years ago, before you were born.” For example, their was no polishing or flossing done but if so my rating would still remain the same. This should have been disclosed over the phone or at checkin. No big deal but I am sure the office claims the whole service to insurance. All of the staff are friendly and professional. I felt welcomed. However, this office is not totally “state-of-the-art” or modern. This office is dated and gloomy. It’s sad to wait in. The “goody bag” should be renamed or discontinued because it needs a tune up. Small children and 65+ might appreciate it. The search continues for the 5 star office.

Fantastic experience: We took my daughter (who is now 9 months old and thriving thanks to Dr. Tanios-Rafla) to the office when she was 6 weeks old. She had been having issues gaining weight and was no longer nursing, she would outright scream at the breast and was barely even able to take a bottle. It would take her almost an hour to take 2-3 ozs from a bottle and she would end up dribbling most of it down her face and neck, so she wasn't even getting the majority of the milk. We had tried just about everything else and were getting no real answers, we were told by a lactation consultant that maybe it could be a posterior tongue tie, but if that was the case it was not an obvious one and that the procedure was invasive so we should really try everything else first and were essentially left to fend for ourselves. Our little girl was not considered failure to thrive because she was technically gaining weight, but just barely and only because we were feeding her around the clock. She was extremely colicky and did not sleep for more than 8 mins at a time, trust me I timed it, 8 mins was as long as it got. The stories of bringing home a newborn who did nothing but sleep, that was certainly not our story. Everyone was exhausted and I really have no idea how we even made it through the first 6 weeks before we ended up in the office. After hearing our story and saying it sounded just like her son, our neighbor suggested we call the office and make an appointment just to see what Dr. Tanios-Rafla had to say. I am so happy we took her advice. They were able to take us right away and it turns out she had a tongue and lip tie. The procedure was not invasive at all! It was all done via laser and so easy and quick. I can't believe it was not suggested earlier. We had a baby who could barely take a bottle and had been refusing to nurse for weeks (I had been exclusively pumping in hopes she might one day nurse again) latch immediately after the procedure. I can't say everything was easy from that day on, it was a lot of work to get our girl eating again, but baby girl is now 9 months old and still nursing. She went from taking an hr to take a 2 oz bottle to taking it in 5 mins after the procedure! Our baby girl is doing great and back on track to growing just as she should be. We did need to take her to PT and do some cranial work with her after the procedure to really get her back on track and release some of the muscles that were so tight from her having a tongue tie, but honestly having this procedure saved our sweet girl and our sanity. It's amazing how debilitating a tongue tie can really be and so upsetting that it's not something that is easily diagnosed. The best part is that after the procedure our sweet girl finally slept, she was so colicky 24 hrs a day because she was exhausted and so hungry. Eating had been so much work for her. It's like we have a completely different baby now. I only wish we had gone sooner. The first few weeks and months of her life did not need to be so incredibly challenging. If you are wondering if your little one needs help with a tongue tie, I highly recommending going in even just for a consultation, you'll be so happy you did and you will get an honest answer as to whether she can help. I can't imagine how challenging things still would be had we not met Dr Tanios-Rafla. She gave us our sanity, happiness and sweet girl back. Months later we are still incredibly thankful we made the choice to get our daughter this much needed help!! I can't imagine where we'd be without her.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Tanios was warm, kind and very informative. I brought my 4 month old to see her for a tongue tie revision. Previously, he had two other tongue tie revisions done with scissors. Both times the tongue tie reattached. She did the revision with a laser and we saw great results. We are continuing the car plan and he is doing fabulously! I highly recommend her.

Fantastic experience: My usual dentist thought I needed to get a prior root canal fixed. Went here and it turned out there was a problem with the tooth next to it. She figured that out immediately and then did the procedure right then and there. It was very quick and painless. She was also really patient with me when I got super scared at one point. He had severe lip, tongue and cheek tie and Dr. Gina was able to revise it. He was then able to nurse, kept gaining weight like a champ and now is a happy 3 month-old. Fantastic experience: My one month old was having difficulty feeding/latching. Dr. Tanios-Rafla immediately saw the issue and explained how it was effecting her ability to be a successful breast and bottle feeder. She was thorough, kind and gentle. Post procedure, she took the time to assist me with breast feeding and taught me exercises to do with my infant. Fantastic experience: I have nothing but wonderful things to say about dr Gina Tanios-Rafla and her staff. My lactation consultant referred me to her and I am so glad she did. My 2 month old had never been able to nurse and it turns out she had a lip tie, tongue tie and cheek ties. This had been overlooked by hospital staff and my pediatrician. Dr Gina took her time explaining the procedure and what to expect. I was very emotional and upset that my baby had to have this done. Had I gone to another doctor I may not have gone through with it. Trust me .. she is the doctor you want for this type of procedure. We went back the following week and had it done. The procedure took about 5 minutes. The baby nursed ( which I wasn’t expecting her to be able to do) right after. The doctor takes a long time going over post op exercises with you and is very thorough. She even gives you her personal cell phone number in case you need to reach her. I actually went back 2 days after the procedure because I felt like I was doing something wrong. She watched me perform the exercises on the baby and helped me get it right. The exercises are a little hard on the heart for the first week but by the third week the baby was literally smiling as I was doing them ( so I know I wasn’t hurting her.. she was just mad). I am so glad I got this done to avoid possible speech , dental and feeding issues in the future . As an added bonus I am able to breastfeed my baby which is something I had given up on before 3 weeks ago. Since the procedure my baby seems so much happier ( colic symptoms have gotten better) . She smiles so much more and can now stick out her tongue.I am so grateful for Dr. Gina . It’s not often you find such a caring physician. I will definitely go back to her in the future. We are very happy with the professionalism and friendliness of the the staff working at the practice. I can only say good things about procedures we've done over the years: extractions, root canals, fillings, implant, crowns etc. Having access to laser dentistry for this procedures is a huge benefit making them less painful and improving the healing after work is done. My kids have no fear of going to the doctor and claim that laser procedures are pain free. I would not go anywhere else for my dental needs.

Fantastic experience: Dr Rafla has revised tongue and lip ties on two of my sons and we highly recommend her. Both my children were two weeks old when we learned that tongue and lip ties were preventing them from effectively breastfeeding. My lactation consultant referred me to Dr Rafla and their lives were changed. Dr Rafla is excellent at what she does and cares deeply about minimizing the amount of pain the child feels. While it takes a lot out of the parents (and the baby!) to perform the ongoing massage after the procedure to ensure the ties do not reattach, it is worth it to see your child gain weight and be able to breastfeed well! My first son nursed for 15 months after his tie release. For this reason we returned to Dr Rafla when our next child had the same issue. Thank you to Dr Rafla and her entire staff for helping my sons have a normal, healthy life!

She was very informative and made me, a first time mother, feel extremely comfortable about the whole laser procedure. One of the main reasons for the revision was that my daughter was having a difficult time breastfeeding. Dr. Tanios was also very helpful with helping with breastfeed directly after the procedure. Fantastic experience: Dr. Gina has done a great job quickly but thoroughly evaluating my babies for tongue, lip (and even cheek) ties, explaining the issues each tie presented short and long term, she explained the corrective procedure and it took less than 5 minutes and I was able to nurse my baby without pain for either of us. Fantastic experience: Son's lip/tongue tie revisions were on 08/20/2018. Dr. Tanios-Rafla and her staff are nothing short of AMAZING! My baby had is revision at 10mths old and while I was nervous about his tongue and lip tie revisions being that he is a little "older," she and her staff assured my husband and I he would do just fine. The office uses a water laser for the revisions that have a numbing effect so that was comforting to know that my baby didn't need to have any type of anesthesia. Dr. Tanios-Rafla and her assistant were as gentle as can be. Outside of the revision, what I LOVE most was the education that was provided for post-revision and the office was patient with us addressing any questions or concerns we had!! **The most difficult part was doing the "maintenance exercises* for 3 weeks. I'm sure the surgical area was tender and sore so it was a bit of a struggle completing every 4 hours for 3 weeks. ((IF YOU ARE NOT COMMITTED TO DO THE MAINTENANCE DO NOT GET THE REVISION!)) Some back history for new parents: I had suspected a lip/tongue tie issue a few months after he was born when my baby would nurse and upon removal my nipple would be shaped like the top of a lipstick (flattened).
