Negative experience: The one star is for the front desk staff and hygienist. I wouldn't let Dr. Wiacek near anyone with a drill or any tool that can cause harm. While filling my tooth he kept making comments about how unsure he was of the effectiveness of his work. I wondered if he was an intern. He seemed very inexperienced and anxious. I quickly discovered his lack of skill with excruciating pain from his over drilling the moment I got to my car and tried to drink cold water. Wish I had known he only had a few years of experience and I wish he had been honest with what he was capable of doing and what he was incapable of doing because it would have spared me so much pain. After weeks of pain, he apathetically states that I just need a root canal to fix what he did and that, of course, I would be the one paying. Byrd dental must be raking in the money from people paying for corrective procedures they never walked in needing.

Negative experience: They used to be great but then a bunch of change up happened because i only ever see 1 dr and hes so miserable and seems over worked. I had to tell a different dr that my tooth probably needed work, pls look again and then she looked again and said oh yeah thats really bad...so howd you miss that the first time? I cracked a tooth and they could not figure that out, filled something and it still hurts the same, went back multiple times. They throw their hands up which is very discouraging. I also have had at least 3 fillings fall out a few weeks or months later. They just all seem annoyed and busy and not really taking the time. I decided to leave after hearing of others complaining about the same thing. Also got a root canal the dr "filled" the hole after, like they're supposed to but theres a huge hole there that he said "looks fine" after i went back AGAIN so yeah I'm done. The front/admin staff office is fantastic. I have listened to them deal with similar complaints before.

Fantastic experience: I've gone to Byrd dental for several years...10+. I've had a fair amount of work done. Fantastic place. Clean and professional. I absolutely trust them with their suggestions and quality of work. It is terribly disappointing that my companies new insurance isn't one they take...Aetna. I plan to check back periodically hoping their policies change. I would love to go back.

Negative experience: This was my dentist group for several years and had spent maybe about 12k total for all the work I’ve needed done. I had an accident at work and knocked out a tooth workman’s compensation covered it but Dr.Byrd talked me getting a partial denture instead of an implant to fix the tooth, well got the partial and then had issues…Dr.Byrd didn’t tell me that the crown that he anchored it too was bad and it gave me a really bad infection for about 2 months. They gave me like 7 days of antibiotics and 3 days of pain meds but the infection didn’t go away….they stopped calling me after leaving messages to try to get them to fix the issues the partial caused….i ended up losing the anchored tooth and the one beside it and the partial is now useless….they said the work was guaranteed but they’ refused to call me back and left messages asking them to give me a discount on the side that had issues and to fix the partial bit Dr.Byrd just took the 6k he made and just ignored me. It’s sad that he took no responsibility for the faulty work he did. He should be ashamed for taking advantage of people and everyone beware of going here. That infection gave me a fever of 103 and they just ignored me.

Fantastic experience: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I had a great experience at Byrd Dental today. From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel Welcoming and well taken care of. The dental hygienist, Brandon, was absolutely stellar professional, knowledgeable, patient, and incredibly kind. Brandon made sure I wasn’t nervous or afraid and truly took the time to care for me. He completed my X-rays and explained everything very thoroughly, answering all of my questions with patience and clarity. He also carefully checked my gums for any issues and then performed the cleaning. He was so gentle, and the entire experience felt smooth and easy. I shared with him that if my past dental experiences had been like this, I would have gone back to the dentist many times. Unfortunately, I had an unpleasant experience at another office left me fearful of dental visits(PEARLFECTION Frederick MD) Brandon completely changed that for me. He did such an amazing, remarkable job that I honestly want to come back sooner than my six-month cleaning. I wish I could give 10 stars, but I’ll happily give 5. This was one of the best dental experiences I’ve ever had, and I highly recommend Byrd Dental especially Brandon. He is awesome!

Positive experience: Dr. Law is very thorough and takes care of her patients

Positive experience: I have never had an issue coming here except insurance billing. But today I came in and genuinely am not sure how this hygienist is still employed here. First of all her tone was off and short to begin with, but that’s fine everyone has bad days. The real issues were her trying to tell me I needed to get my wisdom teeth out by now and then trying to tell ME that they are very painful and the roots are so strong now that I need to get them taken out. So I politely reply “ I didn’t know I had any” she then says well you do and you need to take them out, then I open my mouth and she goes oh so they haven’t broken tissue or anything so that’s fine (literally why I haven’t had them removed). Then she accidentally is yanking my hair so I say “oh sorry you’re pulling my hair” SHE DOESNT SAY SORRY BUT INSTEAD SAYS “oh okay” so i apologize again because i feel awkward even though she was the one pulling it. Last but not least she puts the fluoride in my mouth and briefly does some brush application and then tells me to RUB THE REST AROUND WITH MY TOUNGE AND MAKE IT EVEN sorry what? Never have I been told that. Also I’m no dentist but I feel like the brush application may have been better. I think her name was like lauren or something I have no idea. So a bit of a rough day this time but all the doctors and other hygienists are so lovely!!!!! (Just maybe request someone else)

Negative experience: Back in July this office referred me to a specialist for a procedure. They told me to not schedule my next cleaning until the procedure is complete. The doctor they referred me to said I should get 3 cleanings a year. I called Byrd Dental and they said they were booking out cleaning til July and there is a really long waitlist. It seems this practice has got to busy and do not have the resources to handle their clients. Makes me concern if they are going to be rushing patients through to fit more in. I also had problems with their computer systems going down and they could not complete a visit and wanted me to come back. I called another practice in the area and they are getting me in within a week.

Negative experience: I was a patient at Byrd dental for several years and even recommended them to my family. I have no idea what happened this year, but getting appointments was horrible, my six month appointment I was called the same day and told that they had to reschedule me because my hygenist had left. So they called me literally the morning of my appointment in September and told me the next available appointment was in December. Not ideal, I was annoyed, but took the December appointment. The day of my appointment in December I was called and told that my hygenist was out and they had to reschedule me. The next appointment they offered me was June of 2026! So it would be over 12 months from my last cleaning. I explained that to the young lady calling and she said that she was sorry, but didn't offer to try to fit me in sooner or give any alternate options. I told them it was unacceptable and I was going to look for another dentist. I found another provider got my cleaning and scheduled my husband and daughter as well. I have no idea what is happening there, but this was absolutely ridiculous. I had great experiences for years going there, not sure what happened this year, but I hope their service improves.

Negative experience: I first want to say that every dental hygienist, receptionist, and Dr. Wiacek are absolutely wonderful. I highly recommend coming here if you’re able to never interact with Dr. Byrd. Dr. Wiacek was my dentist when I lived in the area and I made a point to come back for cleanings when visiting twice a year because of how much I liked the staff here. I’ve been a patient here for three years and have never had anything but positive experiences until I encountered Dr. Byrd for an urgent dental issue while visiting for the holidays. I ended up leaving mid appointment because of how Dr. Byrd was treating me and interacting with me. Unfortunately, I will never be coming back here due to Dr. Byrd.

Negative experience: Doctor came in the to examine my wife don't say hello don't introduce himself or anything just said open your mouth

Fantastic experience: Kaiden is always very thorough and gentle when cleansing my teeth. She's the main reason why I keep coming back.

Positive experience: The dentist I saw was Dr. Listhaus, and he was really great. Unfortunately, he is no longer there. My husband and I had crowns put in. They make them in-house. I had one of mine crumble and disintegrate like chalk. My husband had one crack apart. He also had one , including the tooth underneath, crack, and he had to see an oral surgeon to have what was left removed. DO NOT GO HERE.

Negative experience: Three years ago I gave this dentist a five star review. I loved the hygienist Hannah and Dr Mak. The past two years it feels like every appointment was getting worse and I was wanting to switch but it’s such a hassle. I wish I had. I recently went and they said I need two fillings. One was to replace a filling they did maybe two years ago (I also had a filling they did that fell out within a year while I was in the chair getting my cleaning done). The other they said was just a filling. I get scheduled with Dr Byrd to do the filling and HE DOES NOT WEAR A MASK so was spitting into my face and eye and mouth while he’s doing the drilling. I then have the worst pain which I am still dealing with. When I went back the next day, they shaved down the filling and pain got better immediately and for two days, but then gradually is getting worse. When I went back that day they said it was a deep filling so I actually need a root canal. I guess I’m confused since they just charged me $150 for a filling, and are now quoting $700 for a root canal. Previously with Dr Mak when I had a larger cavity she prepared me for both options and said they would decide and we would talk about it. I had scheduled a second appointment to talk about it with Dr Law. They had me come in and the hygienist checked the tooth and said yeah I needed a root canal. Dr Law did not even have the decency to come in and talk to me (yet she put a note in my chart including direct quotations which I did not say and certainly did not say to her since she did not come in even though she was free in the lobby area). I had no pain prior to this filling, a root canal was not discussed and now I’m in the worst pain of my life down my neck and through my head and the dentist did not even check me and talk to me. I am going elsewhere for cleanings and this problem. I would rather pay someone else more than them for this problem that they created. Other things that I had forgiven before that made me want to switch- you basically can’t reschedule a cleaning - their cleaning schedule books six months out, but they will cancel last minute and give no alternative or say they will call back and don’t. We also overpaid over a year ago for fillings and have had a $300 credit that I only learned about now when they charged out of pocket against the credit for a cleaning rather than insurance. I actually had called a year ago when I got the EOB from insurance and saw we overpaid but the person at Byrd said we didn’t and the EOB was wrong. When I called asking about the credit and why they charged out of pocket they said it was because we had reached the plan limit which we had not it reset in July and this was the first visit since then. They then were using this credit to pay for this $150 filling. Since I am not returning I asked to be refunded the remainder. They said they have to wait for insurance but they always refund. My insurance shows it was paid but maybe they haven’t gotten it yet, but clearly they do not always refund since this credit is from over a year ago and they did not refund and then we’re trying to pay down the balance with charging us for a cleaning. Unethical at best, fraudulent at worst.

Negative experience: If you want professional people to check your teeth this is not the place! First I went to this place because I needed a fill, I had a cavity. It was around May, but I think they did nothing but talk. Because my tooth still hurt! Second They gave me an appointment for a cleaning for August... I wait 3 month for the cleaning and they just call me 2 days before the appointment.They wanted to give me an appointment for today at 6 pm if not I have to wait until October. This is not professional at all, we all have plans and this is why we made appointments in advance! this ridiculous people just made me waste my time!!! never going back here!

Positive experience: I have been seen by two different dentists at this location. They need to work on their compassion and empathy for patients with anxiety, gag reflex and a small mouth. I left today feeling frustrated that they don’t really care about the patients experience, just the money they bring in the door. Improvement is needed!!!

Positive experience: Very busy exstensive dental office call for appointment !!!

Fantastic experience: Aspen Dental $16000 to replace bridge. DR Bryd $82 to fix bridge. Driving three and a half hours for trusted care! Also other issues were addressed the same week I was there so glad made it back to my original dentist. Thank you to the good people at Bryd Dental.

Fantastic experience: I switched about 4 years ago to Byrd Frederick. (I've never seen or talked to Dr. Byrd) Doctor Law is an amazing dentist! I'm not a fan of dentists because of some bad past experiences, but Dr. Law handled fillings for me so well, I didn't even need anesthetic (local or otherwise turns out that works better for me). I had a good hygienist for years there, but unfortunately she moved on after 3 years. I find the dental staff friendly and good at what they do and the admin staff professional (but a bit overworked/frustrated, however, I don't take it personally). Note that I do have special requests due to past experiences with other providers and they are great with those limitations (I never have to remind them, they actually read my chart!).

Fantastic experience: I recently became a patient at Byrd Dental after moving back to the area from Florida. I have been there 3 times since for exams and procedures by Dr. Wiacek and his assistants. All positive experiences, which is a huge plus for someone like me who has pretty extreme dentist anxiety. Everyone was super friendly. I was also pleased to be taken back and taken care of in a very timely manner (versus being there for hours waiting around like my previous dentist).

Fantastic experience: This place is great. I came in with a fair amount of pain. The dentist was patient, took the time to show me photos and explain what was going on. I was quoted a very reasonable price, and the procedure left me feeling taken care of. Will definitely be returning.

Fantastic experience: I never leave reviews for anything, but I wanted to come and rave about the service I’ve received at Byrd Dental. I’ve had a considerable amount of work done in the last couple of months (was in there about every two weeks!) I had several root canals & crowns, along with a few fillings and even a tooth extraction (what was left of it.) I’ve always stayed away from the dentist out of anxiety and fear, as well as lack of insurance—and my teeth suffered the consequences. I needed to preserve the teeth I had left the best that I could. Dr. Mak came up with a treatment plan for me and performed all of my dental work, and she was the BEST! Her bedside manner is the greatest; she was so sensitive to my needs and always asking how I was doing during the procedures. She went out of her way to make sure I was satisfied with the work while being very patient with me as well. The hygienists/assistants were also all very accommodating and professional. Even the front desk assistant, Jasmine, was amazing at helping me with everything I needed—treatment plans, appointments, all of it! As long as Dr. Mak is there, I may have been cured of my dental anxiety (or mostly anyway!) Thanks to everyone at Byrd Dental for helping me through all of my treatments and being so kind to me along the way! See you in a couple of months for my cleaning. ;)

Fantastic experience: I was super nervous about going to the dentist since I had not been in a few years and was there for an emergency visit! Everyone from the front staff, the dental assistant, and the Dentist her self were so kind! They were even able to squeeze me in the next day for my root canal. Definitely recommend!

Fantastic experience: This is the best dental practice that I have ever visited. The entire staff is professional, courteous and competent, from the hygienists to the doctors. The office atmosphere is spacious and very nicely decorated. Hours to receive care are plentiful, including Sundays! Appointments are kept on time and they are quick to work with you on financial arrangements and insurance. Byrd Dental is awesome!

Negative experience: I was very impressed with the dental hygienist who cleaned my teeth thoroughly with no discomfort involved; however, I will not be returning. They have chosen not to participate in the mask mandate!! Many of their employees are maskless and even the clinical staff are wearing minimal PPE. I reviewed their COVID policy on the website before I went. It assuredly was not up to date.

We made our appointments and felt very comfortable, even during covid! The office is very clean and what made me leave this review was to thank the Dental Hygienist Lauren for making my kids teeth cleaning and check up very calm and fun. It was my 4 year old son’s first teeth cleaning and check up, and I couldn’t believe how happy he was after. Now my kids are excited to go back to the dentist. Positive experience: Dr Byrd is an excellent dentist. However, he demonstrated questionable judgment by offering his unsolicited opinion on politics and religion. Because I am very uncomfortable with discussing either of the subjects with anyone other than my family or closest friends, I did not offer any comments to encourage further discussion. However, he did not take the hint and continued to share his thoughts. I found his opinions to be quite offensive. We all are entitled to our own beliefs but there are certain times when we should keep them to ourselves unless asked. I hope Dr. Byrd will take this constructive criticism to heart.

Fantastic experience: The hygienists are friendly, understanding and careful. They are knowledgeable and professional and always offer helpful, relevant advice. Dr. Mak is one of the best dentists I have had since I was a child. Even though she is very busy, she always takes the time to make sure she is focused on my health and not preoccupied with her schedule. I like that she remembers who I am and what is going on with me if I had ever mentioned anything personal. Above all she genuinely cares for my dental health and is not just selling products.

Fantastic experience: Very professional and the staff is extremely nice. You are in and out. My husband and I have been going several years to Byrd. We just recently switched my kids from a pediatric dentist office to Byrd Dental. They love it, and we don't have to sit 20-30 minutes afterward each cleaning waiting to checkout like we always did at the pediatric office. I very much recommend!

Negative experience: I have been coming to this dentist for years and have enjoyed my experience until recently. I came in for what I thought would be a routine crown replacement with Dr. Law, but turned into a torturous experience. After she took my current crown off she informed me that a new crown wouldn’t be the best decision given how much tooth erosion I had underneath. I went with the option to have an implant over a partial which is SUPER expensive. I asked Dr. Law about pain management for this procedure because I am very sensitive to pain and she assured me that I would be numb and would not feel anything. She proceeded to inject my mouth multiple times hitting several nerves. I thought I was going to crawl out of my skin. I went on to have the most midevil dental experience I’ve ever had as I watched her drill, pull and chip little pieces of my tooth out of my head while I laid their crying listening to her make small talk with the tech. I left feeling like I had been tortured and robbed. I am never going back to this place.

Fantastic experience: Was able to get a same day appointment for severe pain. Very courteous staff, seen quickly and referred to an Endodontist for a root canal, again same day. I highly recommend the practice.

Fantastic experience: Byrd Dental gave me an absolutely incredible experience. I called during COVID because I have two broken teeth and I was worried they would get worse. They got me in the office right away (all CDC protocol followed to a T and the office was super clean). I was seen by Dr. Mak and she set my dental health plan right then and there. I got in a few days later to have the actual work done and my teeth don’t even look like they were ever broken. She was upfront that I may need a crown or a root canal but she did her best to prevent it. I love the office and the staff. I recommend hands down!! I’ll never go anyplace else. Did I mention I’m terrified of the dentist and she made me feel right at home and took away all fears.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Makhmalbaf was amazing as was her dental assistant (unfortunately, I can't remember her name). This office's flexibility allowed me to get a two day procedure completed in one day. Thank you for your consideration and professionalism during these hard times. I highly recommend Byrd Dental for dental emergencies.

Negative experience: I am temporarily in Frederick as a student and needed a dentist. After reading all great reviews I decided to give this place a chance. They told me that I had three cavities over the course of two visits. I trusted the knowledge of the providers so I did not question these cavities. It was not until I was getting one filled by Dr. Mak that she drilled too far into my tooth and caused me to have to go get a root canal!!!!! To make matters worse, when I called explaining that I was in severe pain they informed me that they only had an opening months away!!! What kind of care is this?? I was a patient and they didn’t even try to help me! Let alone refer me anywhere!! I had to research on my own WITHOUT A REFERRAL! I ended up getting the root canal elsewhere and then on a trip back to my hometown I saw my original dentist. My dentist of many years was very upset that my tooth was even drilled into in the first place!!! I didn’t even have a cavity!!!!! Now many fillings and a root canal later, I feel like this place took advantage of me. Absolutely DO NOT come here!!! There is no credibility. Horrible experience that left me feeling very emotional traumatized.

Fantastic experience: For the first 50 years of my life I was terrified of the dentist. I've been going to Byrd dental for the last few years and I have lost my fear of the dentist. Every person there strives to make my experience painless and enjoyable. I will never change dentists again.

Negative experience: I called this place a little more than a week before actually calling to see a doctor because I self pay. I wanted to be sure I had enough money to pay for an extraction and other fees if necessary. The day I went to the office, they claimed that the computers were down and therefore they wouldn’t be able to get an X-ray. However, apparently some dental assistants were able to get X-rays for other patients. They escorted me to the front office staff and instructed them to call me to reschedule an appointment when the computer system was up and running. It’s been almost a week and I haven’t heard from this office! Unprofessional!!! I’ll spend my money elsewhere.
