Fantastic experience: Very professional environment! The doctor and staff are always ready to provide the best treatment to us. He doesn’t forces his opinions and suggestions to the patient. He explains everything thoroughly and it’s on the patient to decide. I will recommend Dr T and his staff to all. It’s worth the drive.

Fantastic experience: Great dental team ! We love Opal Ridge dental office! My husband and I long time dedicated patients of Opal Ridge dental office. Doctor and staff are very nice, professional, and truly care about their patients. Facility is clean, and comfortable. Our daughter is turned 14, and now she is a new patient of Opal Ridge dental office as well. She had her braces removed recently at the Frederick pediatric dentistry, and her side teeth on the both sides turned brownish yellow. Frederick pediatric dentistry says nothing we can do exept bleaching/or veneers. They never even told us what and why caused it. I asked them , if anything else can be tryed, before offering such a harsh treatments. They said no, thats her options, and also gave us refferal to the root canal specialist, which wants to charge us only for consultation - nonerefundable $300. I decided to show her to Dr. Thackenkary for second opinion. Turns out its enamel demineralization, very common after braces removal. He recommend prescription tooth paste to use for couple of months and see if its improve her condition. It was a huge relief, and honestly we are understand it might work or might not, but it least he is caring enough and trying least harmfull option instead of bleaching.We are highly recommend this office.

Fantastic experience: I needed an emergency x-ray with very limited time constraints and they were able to not only see me to do the x-ray, but Dr. Thackenkary was able to see me and talk to me about next steps. Felt a huge relief being able to get in so quickly and really appreciative!

The hygienist was absolutely amazing — she took her time with the cleaning, was gentle, and left my teeth looking and feeling like pearls! At my last dentist, I'm not sure I was seen by the same dentist more than once in the last 5 years. Lauren was my Dental Tech today, and did my x-rays and cleaning. She was very friendly and personable, and I'm looking forward to having her as my Tech again! Everyone at this practice has been great so far!

Negative experience: Dentist was dismissive of symptoms and completely misdiagnosed condition as “nothing.” Another dentist took the time to do a through exam and had an actual diagnosis.

Fantastic experience: I called on Friday looking for an appointment as soon as possible due to having a lot of troubles with my teeth I had set up a sitter for my children and they canceled an hour before my appointment so I went ahead and called asked if it was OK to bring my kids they said yes that’s fine I get there and they are absolutely amazing super nice knew who I was when I walked in didn’t need any information it took me right back I didn’t even have to sit and wait then I got x-rays done in the receptionist came and stood with my kids while I got those done and then they came in and sat with me in the room my kids are younger three and one so they were getting a little antsy I had to get up a couple of times and give them their toys drinks whatever and the Dennis and the dental assistance were all super nice and understanding they tried to help as much as they could wood 1000 percent recommend this office to anybody who’s looking for a dentist that cares about you and the person you are I talk to the dentist after and I asked him for his opinion and what he thought would be my best route then we came to a decision together they gave me a referral they’re helping me get it done as fast as possible due to insurance issues it was amazing 100% love this Dennis and will be taking my boys and myself there from here on out!!!

When we moved to Walkersville we were looking for a new dentist and found Opal Ridge. We have been so satisfied; my anxiety has gone done so much prior to appointments. I had a lot of cleaning that needed to be done since I put cleaning off for so long. Kelsey the hygienist is so patient and calming, the administrative staff is wonderful, and Dr. T makes sure to explain everything to you. Highly recommend this team!

When I went in the first time I didn't know what to expect getting dentures, Dr. Thackenkary took the time to explain the whole process in detail. When I had 2 teeth pulled, I expected to be in pain for at least 10 days but because of the excellent care Dr. T took during the extractions I was in pain for 4 days. They are willing to work with me making payments as well. I plan to stick with Dr. T for many years.
