Negative experience: Was pressured to get my braces off before I felt my teeth were where I wanted them and after showing them my concern, they had me spend months afterwards getting retainer adjustments which costed $150 each when they could’ve adjusted it before removing my braces to have me pay them more after.

Positive experience: Everyone is very nice and personable! I updated my ratings because the wait time is so much better! We get in pretty quickly every time now. Not overcrowded like it used to be. If you lose a bracket or a wire comes loose, it’s so hard to get in! It’s like stabbing your cheek for several days while you hope someone cancels and try to operate yourself from home. They only squeeze you in if you’re new and haven’t signed a contract. They have 3 locations so they aren’t open half the time in the location you need. I think we came here because it was a little cheaper.

Negative experience: I’ve come here twice for orthodontic treatment. The first time was in 2012 and I had a fine experience, got my braces off in about 6 months. No issues. Came back about 8 years later since I had a good first experience and my teeth had begun to shift. I continued getting IPR every appt even though my teeth weren’t moving together. Dr Payne would be in there for 3-5 min tops and always told them to shave my teeth more, completely missing that there were already gaps/space to be filled. Now I have gaps in between my molars in the back and my lower front teeth are so skinny. They take on more patients than they can handle which was overly apparent. Getting an appointment was difficult, every appt you could guarantee a full waiting room, you’d be waiting at least 10-15 min past your appt time and be there at least an hour. I had a couple of issues with the assistants where they either wouldn’t tie the bracket properly or adhered the bracket in the wrong position resulting in additional visits and incredibly painful adjustments of my teeth to get them back in position. My last straw was when I called in today to schedule an appt to have some glue reapplied to my retainer (it’s still attached, I just want more glue so it’s more secure and doesn’t break off), I was told it would be $100 since I haven’t been in in over a year. Sure, I guess I understand a fee, but $100 for what would take 5 min at most and very minimal materials? Outrageous considering I’ve been a patient multiple times spanning over a decade. The fee should be fitting for the work being done, not just a flat $100 fee. It’s obvious their top priority is money and I wish I never gave them any of mine. I called my dentist and he’s fixing it for free. This is the difference between a dentist that cares for his patients vs a dentist that prioritizes money.

Negative experience: Doctor seems nice at first but just wants his money. As a former Ortho assistant I'm appalled at how doctor Payne is so arrogant and won't fix mistakes. I would not come here if you want quality treatment.

Negative experience: I would give 0 if I could, I had to have braces twice because of these people. My permanent retainer keeps breaking off because they have uneducated assistants gluing it on. Last time I specifically asked for the Orthodontist to glue it on because of this continuous issue and they sent in an assistant, sure enough less than 2 months later it’s broken off again, I have to pre-pay before the appointment to get it re-glued every time, it takes forever to get me in and now my teeth are shifting again. From a kid prospective and first impression it looks like a fun place, they give you points to earn prizes, but don’t be fooled by the aesthetic, I highly recommend you go elsewhere! Especially if you have a complex issue with your teeth!

Fantastic experience: We love Dr. Payne and his team! I always recommend him. We’ve had 3 kids get braces from him so far. Dr. Johnson is awesome too.

Negative experience: I do not recommend this business. I wish I had not trusted this business. We can't confidently trust that this company will treat you as you would hope. We feel this company will argue, evade and ignore, but we find that they will not listen to and understand their customers as we feel a medical company should. This company took our money for orthodontic treatment they anticipated was necessary. Months late, after the orthodontist determined the need for the added treatment was unlikely, we sought a refund. Multiple times over 3 months we sought a refund, and this company acknowledged we had a right to a refund, but we feel they did everything they could for months to delay or evade getting us the rightful refund. When we called to ask to speak with the orthodontist to discuss these issues, the assistant assured us the orthodontist would be given the message. That request for a callback occurred 4 times over multiple weeks. When we did finally talk to the orthodontist, it seemed very clear that he was not interested in understanding us. We sought medical treatment but we feel very mistreated with the way they choose to handle this.

Negative experience: We arrived 20 min early for the appointment and signed in. Then thirty minutes after the appointment was scheduled to begin, I asked how much longer our wait would be. It turns out they deleted our appointment. "We're so sorry," they said. Their prices are competitive, though, assuming you can get in.

Negative experience: My Son just did braces only few weeks ago. Breaket fall of 2 times. I called first time and ask and request so many time give the appointment but not give until they want. When we need appointment before braces they available any time but in emergency they don’t give an appointment. Look like they don’t care if emergency and wire hurting kids because broke down. She said can’t do appointments until get opening. I ask it’s only few minutes work but look like don’t want to listen. It’s definitely competitive prices but missing good services. Always try to give appointments during kid school time even I ask they said no appointments available after or before school can’t book more than 2 appointments in advance. I told should allow kids after or before school time but always same answer it’s booked.

Negative experience: No follow up appointment was scheduled for my daughter and after months I finally called. The receptionist stated that no appointment was necessary. I told her its been months since she has been seen and then she said oh yes she is way over due. So terrible follow through. The receptionist was rude as well.

Fantastic experience: We are grateful for the staff at Payne orthodontics. Gavin and crew are committed to efficiency, quality, and connection. It makes going to our appointments worth it!

Negative experience: My wife is getting her Orthodontics here, it has been a bad experience. The cost is very high without insurance and she is supposed to be seen every 4 weeks, which becomes 8 to 10 weeks if you reschedule the appointments. I don't recommend anybody to this place.

Negative experience: Highly don’t recommend! Scammers! I was told in consultation by dr Payne himself that my daughters bottom teeth would be fixed and I told him how that was my biggest concern. Her top teeth were perfectly fine and straight, no need for braces there. I was charged $1000 for braces . I was told that included bottom teeth for braces. I even double checked with two of his assistants to make sure I understand that included bottom teeth braces and they both confirm to me that it did. After treatment started everyone is now telling me that in stage 2 and different cost…. I was never told this by dr Payne in consultation. Even when I confirm with his two assistants they never told me this either. BEWARE, don’t fall for their bogus excuses of treatment not done until stage 2. There is an amazing dentist in daybreak that will do the bottom in stage 1 and be upfront about costs in consultation.

Fantastic experience: I had my braces done by Dr. Payne back in 2014 when I was a teenager. When I got my braces off my teeth were perfect! 8 years later my teeth still look amazing! He is by far the best orthodontist in the state of Utah. Dont look anywhere else if you need braces. Dr. Payne is the G.O.A.T!

Fantastic experience: Payne Orthodontics is a top notch place if you are looking for orthodontic care. Most of their clients, which is typical of the business, are younger, but they also take care of adults, like myself. Dr. Payne is awesome and seems to genuinely care about the patients and their progress. I've been coming here for about 2 years now (almost done) and been very impressed with all the staff. My kids are also patients here and we've been very happy with their care as well. Really, whatever stage you are at in life, this is just a great place. The assistants are super friendly and helpful and do their best to make it as painless a process as possible. Front desk staff are great as well, Melinda is super friendly and does her job very well, they got lucky finding her. The facility is immaculate and upscale, but the price is on par with other places, except they have all the newest high tech stuff on site as well as their own lab to make retainers and whatnot, which means quick turn around when you need a fix or replacement. They even have an arcade for the kids (and parents) to play while waiting. Large Tvs in each with area, typically playing Disney movies, to help distract the patient from what's going on inside the mouth. They also have referral discounts and family discounts, so if you have multiple people in the family that need braces or whatever, they will give you a little break. I honestly wouldn't go anywhere else!

Fantastic experience: I wanted to give a special thanks to Bri (Brianna) at the South Jordan location. I am very self conscious of my teeth right now and she seriously was the most kind, patient, empathetic person my entire appointment and made me feel so comfortable in a really uncomfortable situation for myself. I have a tough case with my crazy teeth and she handled everything like it was nothing. Thank you so much for being so kind to me it means a lot! Also, Dr Johnson has always been amazing every time I’ve had a visit with him. Very thankful for the team at Payne Ortho!

You can tell he truly loves his patients and his staff. I also thought about getting braces (I'm the mom) and he was so honest in telling me I only needed trays and walked me through all options. Negative experience: I wish I had researched a bit more before committing to treatment. I am an adult and a professional. Getting appointments that fit my schedule was not easy. When I did have an appointment, I often waited to be seen. At least twice over 30 minutes past my scheduled appointment. I have a well documented and known/on-the -record latex allergy, but I was repeatedly given latex products. It was so bad that I had sores in my mouth, which I asked about. And THEN was told that there was latex in my mouth. I ended treatment early for my own peace of mind. During the end treatment, I was subject to “Hollywood-ing” my teeth - not something that was explained to me beforehand, nor something I was given a choice about. My teeth were ground and sanded. I feel like my teeth now look like dentures. This practice is maybe good for kids - the arcade looks like fun and the prizes are shiny, but it’s definitely not set up to manage adult personalities, adult schedules, adult mentalities.

Fantastic experience: I am on my 3rd child being a patient at Payne Orthodonticts and we love it here! We have referred several friends who have also become patients. My kids absolutely love the arcade room. It really helps keep them entertained if we have to wait. And the tvs above each station is also great to occupy them during their appointment. They have a fun and easy reward program for patients with great prizes. The staff is always super nice.

Fantastic experience: My daughter just got her braces off today after nearly 2 years of visits, and adjustments. Through all of it Dr Payne's team had been phenomenal and professional. Dr Payne is meticulous and thorough in getting the smile of your dreams. My daughter is special needs and they were more than patient and competent to handle her sensory issues. I will bring my other kid here for his braces too.

Fantastic experience: I love the staff at Payne orthodontics my son has been coming here for years and the staff is amazing and Dr is awesome.. I love the arcade they have to keep my little kiddos busy while my son is getting work done. I recommend this place to anyone who wants their teeth done

Negative experience: I really like Dr. Payne. My teeth were pretty straight when I got my braces off, but I still had a small gap. However, a few months after getting them off my top permanent retainer fell off. I made an appointment to get it fixed and then told me while it was off I could get a retainer to close my gap. After the temporary retainer, I called to get my permanent back on and they wanted around $230 to put it back on which wasn’t mentioned when the offered to close my gap. Definitely felt a little blindsided by that. Never ended up getting my retainer back on.

Negative experience: This place was hard to feel comfortable at both from a COVID-19 standpoint and from the standpoint of being an adult. When I arrived, the staff member at the front desk had her mask under her chin and kept it there for my full interaction with her (getting intake papers, bringing those papers back, etc). I kept looking over as she signed others in and the mask never came back up over her mouth or nose. In addition, there were so many people in there that it felt a bit chaotic. As an adult, it was also hard to feel comfortable there. As a quick tour, they showed me their arcade room, themed stations, and a “prize area” with kids toys you can “buy” with points. I’m sure those are huge perks for kids and teens, but I felt quite out of place as an adult. Lastly, I waited for 20-30 minutes in a room for my consultation, and I ended up finishing the consultation after they were technically closed due to the wait. Overall, rough time. I hope my experience was unique, but I would really encourage the South Jordan location to adjust their COVID protocols for safety reasons.

Fantastic experience: We have been seeing Dr Payne for a few years now since both of my daughters needed braces. Dr Payne is a wonderful Orthodontist he is very friendly and thorough with everything. We love the offices as well awesomely location. YAY for Payne Orthodontics.

Negative experience: Good clean atmosphere. Staff is friendly. On multiple occasions however, I’ve had to wait 30-45 minutes before they start doing anything on my teeth. Nobody has time to be at an orthodontist place for nearly an hour and a half.

Fantastic experience: My family loves Payne Orthodontics. I’ve had the pleasure of seeing both Dr. Payne & Dr. Strife both are absolutely fantastic. So friendly & always helpful in giving my kids the smiles they want! I appreciate Dr. Strife paying close attention to root health, not just a beautiful smile. Not one other ortho we talked to was concerned about the unique situation. I appreciate this attention to detail. They also love the Payne Points reward system.

Fantastic experience: We have loved going to Payne and have been extremely pleased with the smiles they have given our girls. The point reward system has been a great motivator for each of our daughters. The office is clean and the staff is great to work with. Oh, and the arcade is an added bonus and helps keep you entertained when you have a small wait. We love Payne orthodontics and would recommend them to anyone needing orthodontic care.

Fantastic experience: We went today for our first time and my goodness, the building interior itself was stunning, couldn’t get my kids out of the amazing game room for our tour, all of the staff was sweet and the Doctor was Brilliant! He gave me an outstanding consultation that included my kids pictures, x-rays and a very detailed plan on what we should. I already called my friends to check this place out too because I miraculously found a really cool place for my kids orthodontic care My only regret was not having my husband present for such a surprising consultation presentation, however they luckily send you out with a folder including pictures of your kids x-rays, the plan we discussed and the total amount with payment options. Highly recommend

Positive experience: Staff is very busy and the front desk is rather grumpy and inflexible. But once you are past the front desk; the staff is great. I’m a bit concerned how to get a more customized experience and or what we would do in an emergency situation given the gatekeeping that happens up front ... but so far we have only had to get wires reset a couple of times nothing more.

The whole office is always impeccably clean and the arcade area was wonderful when I had other small children waiting with me. Fantastic experience: I can not thank the staff at Payne Orthodontics enough. They have been beyond patient with my daughter during the time she had her braces on. Every visit was a fight due to her anxiety and they walked her through each one and never once became inpatient with her. Fantastic experience: Madeline "Maddie" Hanks is my ortho assistant and I feel so so SO incredibly well-taken care of in her hands! When we first met we basically bonded over Starbucks, and she had no problem trying to make a connection with me as her patient. I had such a pleasant experience being able to relax and just talk about interesting and funny things while getting my braces tightened. She's also has charm, charisma and good life advice!! I am totally going to bring her light-roast coffee whenever I can because she takes such good care of me and I owe her that~ xD EVERYONE at Payne Orthodontics does their job extremely well and makes you feel right at home, and I am so relieved and grateful to have started (and soon will finish) the process of having braces with them! Every visit is easy and fun for me, so thank you~ ❤

Fantastic experience: Our family is so pleased with our experience with Payne Orthodontics! We have been going to them since 2009. Both Dr. Payne and Dr. Streiff have worked with us. All 3 of our children had their braces done with them and their teeth are beautiful. They are pleased with their appearance as well ( the improved self esteem being quite a success! ) The staff has always been helpful, efficient and polite and we have seen a few new faces over the years. Our experience with wait has been minimal if any and immediate with an emergency. The assistants are friendly and well trained and we always felt confident with their work. It has always been an all around pleasant experience.

Fantastic experience: I have been going to Payne orthodontics for about 4 months now and I would highly recommend getting braces here to a friend and have done so already. I am not super far into my treatment thus far but the people that work here are great starting with reception promptly greeting every time I come in and greeting me by name to the assistants who work on me making sure to address any problems and keep the treatment flowing smoothly, topped off by the both the doctors=. They make the experience "PAYNELESS" and not so daunting or intimidating to go to the orthodontist.

My son has done phase 1 and my daughter just finished the full treatment. Both ways have been great for what my kids needed. All the staff are friendly and easy to work with.

Fantastic experience: I just completed limited treatment with Payne Orthodontics. My experience has been great. I had a few teeth that needed adjustments (shifting that occurred after braces). I did not want to have braces put back on so they offered me retainers that shifted my teeth back into place. It only took a few months and I am so impressed how well things turned out. The office is beautiful and the staff is great. Dr. Streiff is wonderful. I highly recommend them :)

Fantastic experience: Payne Orthodontics runs like a well oiled machine. From consultation to adjustment visits to retainer care, the office staff, assistants, and orthodontists work well together delivering excellent care and service. Due to an unforeseen move, I had to shorten the length of my comprehensive braces from 12 months to 10, and they were able to make my teeth beautiful even with the added time constraint. I highly recommend this office!

Fantastic experience: These guys are fantastic!! The staff is friendly, fast and professional. The facility is clean, beautiful and entertaining for the kids. They worked with me on payments, helped us stay on top of appointments, and managed to get my son’s treatment done about 13 months rather than 18 as originally planned!

Fantastic experience: Payne orthodontist has been an amazing experience. They have always been willing to help and the doctors listen to your needs. In addition they saved me from having to get an implant by suggesting to move my teeth together. I did not believe that was possible and even my dentist was surprised went in for my next checkup and the place where the implant would go was closed. They educate you as you go through the process and really help to minimize and manage the discomfort. It was exciting to see the progression between each appointment. They are an office that demonstrates integrity and professionalism. My daughter and I have both had our braces through them, and will likely have my son and wife do the same in the coming years.
