Fantastic experience: Excellent service!!!!

Fantastic experience: If I could give 5+ ⭐⭐ I would. I am very self conscious cause I have front teeth missing and just overall not great set of teeth to look at. Anyhow I had dental emergency. They didn't pressure me into getting more work than what I came in for. That's what I truly appreciated the most. I have been to other dentists in the past and they have made me feel overwhelmed and emotional with the amount of work I need. Today I was in pain and today I felt heard and understood at the Luna clinic. Today I didn't feel like $$ symbol when they looked at me. They saw me as a person. I greatly appreciate the whole team. Front desk was responsive and respectful from the time I made the call to the point of arriving. Wait time was about 45 mins. Nurse for exam was patient and sweet. X-rays went smoothly. Billing was smooth and non judgemental when it came to understanding that I needed only the extraction. He did not pressure me or make me feel bad for my choice. Dr. Soto made sure I was numb completely. He will double check, triple check, before actually starting the procedure. He was kind and respectful the whole time. Environment was clean and tidy. I'm glad I made the right choice and came here. I most definitely recommend this place for your next dental appointment ✨

I recently cracked my two front teeth in a scooter accident and i was so scared to get them fixed i decided to go for a consult and all i can say is Dr. Soto DID THAT he is amazing at what he does, he is patient especially with my girls i am glad i switched them over to this dentist office , His whole staff is amazing from the front ladies in reception to Steve the billing receptionist & all the dental specialists especially Scarlett she is amazing! I called around noon and setup an appointment as I had been dealing with a fractured tooth, let me tell you they treat you like family and are so compassionate. Fantastic experience: Loved this dental place! It was my first time here. Went for a 6 month checkup & cleaning. Excellent service from Nancy Reyna who setup our appointments and Mr. Steve who explained the recommendations from the dentist, the insurance coverage and procedures to follow. Even my daughter, said she understood everything. Never felt pressured. I highly recommend Luna dental.

Fantastic experience: First time going to Luna Dental with my family and I had a great experience. The front staff was so friendly and informative, making sure we understood what procedures were going to be done. They also explained pricing and gave suggestions on what our next steps would be. Dr. Huynh and Dr. Soto were very professional and knew what they were doing. Overall the experience was positive and they made my family feel welcomed and comfortable. Mr. Stevenson McArthur has a great positive attitude. He assisted me in accommodating my appointments, and explaining to me on my dental financial procedures professionally. I highly recommend Luna Dental.

Negative experience: Went in for my 3pm appointment, 4:40 now and still waiting. this is the 2nd time this happens!!

Negative experience: Worst doctor don't recommend it

Negative experience: Seems they could do better with trusting the patient when they request antibiotics to ward off infections from root canals. It would have saved me not only an urgent care visit but also a ER visit which is where the urgent care sent me. But alas when I went back I was told it was my problem that I went to get my abscess lanced at the ER. Never mind the fact that it was growing bigger by the day and this dental practice would not lance it when the antibiotics I got from the urgent care didn’t take care of it. I very frequently get infections from dental work and was denied a preventative prescription but it turns out the infection was already started after the first part of the root canal on Saturday and not finished til Tuesday. Dr later admitted there were signs, though he assured me there was no chance of it. Though this happened about a year ago I should have posted before now. They also automatically rescheduled me for another cleaning and I didn’t know anything about it til they called the day before.

Fantastic experience: Staff is super friendly and professional. They help me feel at ease because they know of my phobia of the dentist. They have blankets in case you're cold, and they'll put the TV on during the procedures if you want. Dr. Lee also has a very gentle hand, and is very attentive in case I feel pain or discomfort. Excellent place!

Fantastic experience: Dr Lee was amazing!! He did my root canal and everything went smoothly. The staff is so friendly and made me feel so welcomed as a new patient. It’s so hard for me to find a dentist who accepts my insurance, and they made sure to go into detail with expenses and offered a payment plan for the services being done. So clean and they have a game room,and cinema to keep them busy for the wait(we didn't wait long at all) the staff was all so welcoming,attentive&patient. Fantastic experience: Dr. Soto was very attentive and did a great job on my fist visit. I was told I was not a candidate for Invisalign by a different dental office prior to visiting Luna Dental. I was told that I would have to wear braces for two years, and get four teeth extracted to correct my overcrowding. However, after Dr. Soto examined my case, he was able put me on Invisalign treatment without the need to extract any teeth. I've been wearing my aligners for 14 weeks now and see a noticeable difference when I smile. The Luna Dental staff were also very professional and courteous. Ricky and Nayla made sure I felt comfortable throughout the entire visit. I have highly recommended Luna Dental to my family, friends, and co-workers!

Negative experience: I first visited Luna Dental in August, but it has been too difficult mentally to write a review until now. However, I feel I have a responsibility to share my experience as a warning to others. I visited Luna to have a night guard made. After a brief exam, Dr. Soto identified 3 small cavities that required filling. I had 6 other small fillings on other teeth previously, all of which were a fairly quick and easy experience, so I had no concerns about letting Dr. Soto take care of the 3 new ones. The filling process seemed to go well, but one of the fillings on a molar felt a bit high. I informed Dr. Soto and he made an adjustment after checking the occlusion with bite paper. The adjustment did not seem to improve the discomfort, so he repeated the process 4-5 times with little improvement. At this point, although it still felt like I was biting a hard object on the molar, the front premolar, which was healthy and did not have or need any fillings, felt like it was getting a greater than usual amount of pressure when I bit down. I informed Dr. Soto and he made some adjustments. It was only at this point that I realized that all along, Dr. Soto had not only been adjusting the fillings, but was actually removing enamel and permanently reducing my tooth structure. He never once mentioned that he would be removing enamel or asked for my consent. He had removed much of the internal structure on one of the molars, drilled on the inside of a premolar which was healthy and not part of the treatment plan, and drilled all along the edge of multiple teeth, including a canine, two premolars, and a molar. All of this was done without informing me or asking my permission to irreversibly remove parts of my teeth. The drilling on the premolar proved to be unnecessary, of course, and Dr. Soto had to add composite within the tooth to restore it to the correct height. Essentially, a tooth with no cavities was filled. After all of this, my teeth fit poorly and uncomfortably on that side and I visited Luna three more times for adjustments. These adjustments were ultimately ineffectual and I had to visit another dentist to make my occlusion more even and comfortable. Dr. Soto had removed virtually all of the occlusal surface structure on one of the molar cusps, making it very thin, sharp, and nearly removing it from occlusion. However, the molar cusp cannot be fully restored as it was thinned enough that removing and replacing the filling on that cusp with more material would further thin the cusp and threaten fracturing the tooth. The other dentist identified the location of the high spot Dr. Soto failed to correct as the distal (back) groove on the molar and corrected it. Had Dr. Soto possessed the skill or patience to identify this himself, been more conservative with removing tooth structure, or been willing to communicate changes to the treatment plan with me before making irreversible decisions, the unnecessary destruction of my tooth structure could have been avoided. Instead, my teeth fit poorly on that side with substantially reduced contact between the upper and lower molars. Unfortunately it seems the damage cannot be repaired and my teeth will never be the same. This experience devastated me and every day since has been a battle for my mental and emotional health. Visiting Luna Dental was the greatest mistake of my life and I desperately wish I could go back and visit any other dentist in McAllen. Dr. Soto did refund my out of pocket cost, but I would give many times that amount to have my healthy, well-fitting teeth back. I am only 27 and will have to live with this for the rest of my life. I would strongly caution anyone thinking they might visit Luna Dental to reconsider. I wish someone had left a review like this to help me avoid my poor experience at Luna Dental and the resulting physical and mental trauma. While Dr. Soto’s poor work is the primary reason to avoid Luna, they also seem to overbook patients, resulting in long waits and rushed care once Dr. Soto is finally available.

Fantastic experience: Sorry long post but it could help other moms I would like to tell you a bit about what my son had been struggling and how a faster diagnosis could have prevented so much. So, my son is SUPER MEGA HYPERACTIVE, he will not take a nap unless he is SUPER MEGA SICK… he is always getting strep throat or allergies, his tonsils are always huge… I am not exaggerating when I say that I haven’t slept through a full night sinc he was born, 6 almost 7 years ago, because he wakes up throughout the night. He started having teeth problem since he was like 2 years old.. now, he was my first child, so you know I was always on top of his hygiene and everything. I never had cavities until after my second pregnancy. So I’m really strict with mouth hygiene. But anyways, he has lots of silver teeth, and a big gap between his front teeth and now he has a big cavity in his adult molar. I told the dentist the only difference between him and my daughter is that I let him drink dairy milk and he got all his fluoride at the dentist visits and she doesn’t drink milk or has gotten the fluoride. The dentist told me, if I didn’t change something at home, he would have REALLY BAD TEETH (which he does already) and this was like 2-3 weeks ago. That weekend I went to a little festival pediatrics express had and I decided to try another dentist. LUNA DENTAL We went two weeks ago and I explained to DR. Moon everything I mentioned above. He examined him and started questioning me. “Does he snore ?” Yes “Is he hyper active? “Yes “Does he suffer from allergies” yes And a few other questions Then he explained to me he has a tongue tie and sent me to a specialist.. the specialist told me a lot of times pediatricians or psychologists call it ADHD but it’s actually the kids can’t close their mouth right so, they don’t get enough sleep, and when you don’t get enough sleep you can’t focus and you are a bit “crazy” when your mouth is always open it gets dry and so it’s easier for you to get cavities and allergies, strep and all that.. and it all makes so much sense! And a lot of us don’t know, and it’s so sad because our kids are getting so many different medicines that they may not even need.. they get diagnosed so many different things but yet we don’t get to the root of the problem.. so many cavities and strep and allergies could have been prevented in my case, so many sleepless nights.. and I’m just so thankful that my new dentist took the time to listen to me, and look at my son and actually do something, I am super grateful with Dr. Moon and all his attentive staff.. I will definitely be going with them for my whole family.. thank you !
