He decided to go to Dental School in Buffalo, NY and would practice on me as a Dental Patient in Clinic…. While I was commuting from Canada. Hahaha.. Negative experience: I’ve never left a one-star review before and genuinely hate doing so, but I feel it’s important to share this experience so it doesn’t happen to others. I had two appointments here: an initial exam and X-rays, followed by a second visit for a crown and filling. Dr. Tate himself was great. He was personable, explained everything clearly, and took a conservative approach to treatment, which I really appreciated. Unfortunately, the billing side of this practice completely overshadowed the care. Before both appointments, I repeatedly confirmed via email what my out-of-pocket costs would be so there would be no surprises. I was reassured multiple times that certain services were covered by insurance. Despite that, I was billed $165 after my first appointment for something I was told would be covered. Before my second appointment, I again confirmed in writing what my out-of-pocket expense would be. I specifically deferred additional work to 2026 so I could stay within my 2025 insurance benefits and confirmed what my cost would be for only the work being done that year. I was told multiple times it would be around $930. At checkout, I already paid about $50 more than expected, and then a week later I received another bill for $395. In total, I ended up paying over $500 more than what was confirmed, on top of already paying nearly $1,000 out of pocket. I understand estimates can vary slightly, but this happened twice, back to back, and for significant amounts, despite my repeated efforts to confirm costs ahead of time. I feel extremely misled and taken advantage of by the billing practices here. What’s especially unfortunate is that I’ve had some minor issues with the crown since, but given the billing experience, I don’t feel comfortable returning without worrying about additional unexpected charges. I’m currently managing things until I can determine next steps. I ultimately paid the $560 balance just to stop the back-and-forth. If you’re planning to rely on dental insurance to manage costs, I don’t think this will be the right office for you.

Fantastic experience: I have been going for a couple of years now and see Natalie for routine cleanings and Dr. Jameson for evaluations and have nothing to share but praise and gratitude. Natalie has a steady and caring hand and goes out of her way to check in regarding comfort, not at cost of effectiveness of what one comes to the dentist for! Dr. Jameson is direct, to the point and respectful. They are both professional and leave extras up to the patient although they have always been candid about solutions and the scale of their necessity (& both a great sense of humor). The administrative staff are all courteous, timely and professional. I have no complaints and will continue to visit and recommend Salling & Tate. Thank you all for making a very important part of self care feel as good as one could wish for!

Fantastic experience: Second to "NONE"... Salling & Tate Family Dentistry is the best dentist practice East of the Mississippi River... In my life time visiting many Dental Establishments in and out the military, my experience at this facility gives me goose bumps on how professional and thorough they give to their clients. My recent experience was an emergency that occurred over the weekend that i needed to get in for an tooth extraction that spoiled my whole weekend at my annual Family Reunion.... I was in pain the whole weekend and prayed to get in the doors of Salling & Tate to take care of this need that kept me away from family and friends and eating great food. I called and left a voice message over the weekend knowing the office was closed and prayed they would be able to fit me into their schedule to give me immediate service/treatment. I prayed on it and first thing Monday morning i received a phone call from the established at 8 am and they was able to accommodate me at 9:15 am that involved contacting my insurance, moving around planned schedules and get me in to relieve the dire stress i was experiencing. I give the team definitely a much deserving 5 STARS!!!!!! BEST OF THE BEST!!!! Kudos to Dr Salling, Ashley, Amy, Dorothy, Bonnie and the rest of the TEAM!!!

Fantastic experience: Natalie cleaned my teeth today, and as always she was wonderful! I had no wait time between my appointments with Natalie and Dr.Tate. The entire staff is very professional and kind.

Negative experience: This staff is incredibly sweet! No issues with customer service at all! However, I went in for a check-in, got a cavity filled and it’s been consistently more painful and sensitive for the last 4 months. It went from a 2-3 out of 10 every one in a while, to 6-7 out of 10 just about every day. Great staff, but disappointed that we took a step in the wrong direction. I went back and I was told there was nothing they could do. Unfortunate!

Fantastic experience: Had to come here to fixed a temporary crown after a truly terrible experience at my old dentist. They were fast to respond and able to get me in same day. Dr. Jameson was fantastic came in explained what was going on and why I was having issues, took the time to actually look even though my bite test wasn't really showing much, and fixed it. This place was so great I switched to them on the spot. Also shout out to Bekah at the front desk, just an all around amazing person!

Negative experience: They decided to pull a tooth and after Novocain, they spent 1.5 hours pulling on my lips and pulling on the tooth to no avail!! Another hour and she finally got it out. The whole time she said several times that she should have had a surgeon do it. Unfortunately, their emergency number for two doctors said voicemail is full so I had to wait to be told voicemail is never full. Anyway, it was not the best 2.5 hours of my life nor were the next five days!

Then once you are taken back the ladies are all so nice and welcoming. Then the dentist (Katlin Jameson) is the best dentist I ever had. She was so personable and easy to talk to. She took the time to explain everything. I totally feel comfortable and might start going regularly.
