Neighborhood Dental

Positive experience: The staff and hygienists were incredible, but the dentists themselves were so rude. I went twice and saw one of them each time. Neither of them said more than hello to me, only speaking to the hygienist about me in front of me. When I asked more information about my teeth, they were not forthcoming. When I came back the second time, I had the same experience with the second dentist. Almost no conversation at all, and he left as soon as the work was done. He spoke only to the hygienist with no discussion about the work that had been done or the next steps for me. It felt very uncomfortable and intrusive.

Fantastic experience: Everyone, from the receptionists, office staff, dental assistants and hygienists, and the dentists are super friendly, helpful, efficient and make going to the dentist much easier!

Fantastic experience: The staff are wonderful with my daughter! They take their time to explain what is going on and what needs to be done to not only me but to her as well! They are caring and compassionate and aren’t in a rush to push you out the door - they take time to make sure your concerns are heard.

Fantastic experience: Always a friendly greeting upon arrival. Courtney is a very good hygienist, with a no-nonsense professional style. Doc Johnson always explains and gives options on any required treatment with patience.

My kids go here, and this was my first time being seen at Neighborhood Dental. It definitely won’t be my last! I would absolutely recommend them to anyone looking for a new dentist for themselves or their kiddos.

Fantastic experience: my recent experiences here were great! everyone from the front desk receptionists to the hygienists and assistants are incredibly friendly and helpful. dr. bartunek was wonderful and truly made my root canal experience a breeze. i hadn’t been to the dentist in years due to fear, and i honestly wish i had come in sooner because this clinic was so accommodating and made me feel completely at ease. thank you so much, neighborhood dental!

Fantastic experience: Had to have a emergency appointment, was able to get in quickly and was able to get the issue fixed right away. Staff was very kind and helpful, special shout out to Devon and Sylvia for being respectful and caring. Definitely coming back. 5 Stars

Negative experience: Terrible service, I don't recommend it! Today I went to my three children's appointment. We arrived 8 minutes late, and they made us sit and wait for 30 minutes only to tell us that we had to reschedule. I lost a day of work, and we wasted 30 minutes waiting. Today they lost 5 patients, and surely many more will follow! If they couldn't see us because we were 8 minutes late, they should have told us right away so we could leave, but you don't make three children wait 30 minutes! It was very unfair.

Fantastic experience: Was seen for a complete new patient appointment for an exam, cleaning & x-rays. Courtney was my hygienist- and she did a PHENOMENAL job I was nervous before we got started, and she did not only a fabulous job of cleaning my teeth but also a wonderful job putting me at ease and offering good advice on products to try at home based on concerns I had. Dr Andrew Johnson was the Dr I saw and he was equally great! So happy with my experience & the office overall 10/10 recommend if you are looking for a new dental home

Fantastic experience: My dental hygienist was amazing. She did a great job explaining everything she was doing. I was very comfortable with her. I went to the TEA location a couple years ago. It wasn't the best experience. This location is by far better. I'd recommend West 26th street.

Fantastic experience: We’ve loved every hygienist we have had at Dental Wellness! My seven year old also loves it, even after having a cavity filled! They are quick, kind, and patient! I have recommended them to anyone who asks.

Fantastic experience: From calling to set up an appointment, to walking in through the front door I was treated great by the Neighborhood Dental staff. The Hygenist Bailey did a great job with my teeth cleaning, she never made me feel bad for having not so clean teeth. She worked on them until they were perfect! Of course Dr. Bartunek and Dr. Johnson did a great job with my fillings as well!

Fantastic experience: I was nervous to change to Neighborhood Dental from my previous dentist because I have anxiety regarding getting cleanings. However, when I went, the experience was actually better than my previous dentist. The environment is professional but relaxed. I have since had a crown and root canal, and the experiences have been better than I expected. Wish I had switched to Neighborhood Dental sooner!

Negative experience: First and last time going to this location. When I first came the gals in the office were gossiping instead of greeting me so I had to wait for them to finish. As I sat to wait they were glancing at me through there computers felt very unwelcome. Once we did the X-rays and finally got into the chair for my cleaning they were talking about different services and treatments or products I should buy in their office before even starting my cleaning. By the time she started cleaning two teeth we were running out of time. Billed me for a cleaning they didn’t intend to finish so I could come back another time to do a cleaning and whatever treatments they were applying. Good for them they got paid for not doing anything to my teeth. Just know when you come they will try to sell you up on things you don’t need. I was there from 8:15am to 3:40pm

Hygienists & dentists alike offer different treatment options & thoroughly explain the costs & benefits of each option. This is an exceptional dental experience.

Negative experience: Edit from 5 Star review. They clearly have a good first impression. Even though you have been taken care of your teeth very well they always seem to find something. I went to a different dentist place in town and was informed nothing needs to be done and my teeth are fine. There are a lot more affordable and with good service dentist in town.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been to a couple other dental offices in Sioux Falls, nothing compares to Neighborhood Dental!! They make me feel safe, and take my worries away about the dental procedures they have done and the ones we have planned for the upcoming months!

Fantastic experience: Dr. Johnson has been my dentist for some time, and he consistently provides exceptional and professional care. As an adult dealing with retained baby teeth, I have required dental implants, which he has skillfully performed, along with my wisdom tooth extraction, and fillings. Additionally, he referred me to Journey Orthodontics, which has already been a tremendous help. Each visit to Neighborhood Dental has been a positive experience. If you're in need of a thorough dental cleaning, I highly recommend Bailey. I had fallen behind on my cleanings and had significant buildup, but she took her time to ensure my teeth were meticulously cleaned. By the end of my appointment, my teeth looked beautiful and polished. She was truly Amazing! I highly recommend Neighborhood Dental—I have never had a negative experience.

Fantastic experience: I moved to Sioux falls and needed a new dentist I had the same dentist for 30 plus years so was wanting an excellent dentist. I wS told about neighborhood dentist. From making the first appointment to getting in and being a first time patient from the wonderful hygienist to the dentist the process was so simple and easy. Explained everything to me in detail what they were gonna do. The whole staff was amazing and caring I’m glad I went to them. Fantastic job everyone at neighborhood dental..

Positive experience: Love the service. Hygenist and Dr. were both kind and helpful. Nice place. I recently got a mouthguard and when I was considering getting it, I was told I could get 10% off paying in cash. When the time came, they told me they only did 3% and would not honor what I was previously told. That was a big bummer. Didn't care for that and I felt lied to.

Fantastic experience: I have had dental work done three times in the last year. I find everyone to be friendly and helpful. They explain what they are going to do before it is done. They also ensure that I understand before any work is done. I give them an excellent rating and will go back for more dental work to be done.

Fantastic experience: My son (8) was experiencing pain and they got him in quick and taken care of. He hasn't had much experience with the dentist and needed his tooth pulled. They were super friendly and made him feel comfortable. When they let him pick out two prizes after everything was done that 100% won him over. He says he has to best dentist office.

The most professional, personable and pleasant hygienist I have had in 60 years. Then add that new chair, I would like one for my house. Then being able to watch HGTV lying back without children screaming!!! The dentists are so pleasant, my family just moved from Washington state, the equipment and techniques here are top notch. Fantastic experience: Been into Dr Andrew twice in 3 weeks for tooth issues and needing to be referred on for root canals and all paperwork is done and prescriptions sent in! Soon I will be back to see my friendly hygienist to get my teeth cleaned ☺️

Negative experience: Very rude had to make a payment before I could even find out what was wrong with my teeth and never gave me anything to help with my pain dr was very impatient and smacked the tool very hard against the 4 teeth that were giving me the pain when I exactly told him which ones were the problem and now I’m stuck paying 300 dollars for the visit when nothing was done to help relieve the pain and discomfort when it’s hard doing my job as an auto technician to pull four teeth which one was completely on the opposite side of where my problem is which is a good tooth they wanted to remove it I will not ever be coming back again and I don’t feel like I should have to pay for something that nothing to fix the pain was done I’ve been talking 1300mg of Tylenol every 4 hours just to get through the day and when I lay down every thing of pain gets dramatically worse and to the point where I can’t sleep I get woken up in the middle of the night because of the pain it runs up the side of face & neck

Fantastic experience: I am a new customer at Neighborhood Dental and would like to share the wonderful experience I had from a quick initial visit for a broken tooth, to a next day repair with two new caps, to squeezing in a cleaning while I waited for my permanent same day Caps. A great experience all around. Great customer service/experience and friendly environment.

Fantastic experience: Great experience overall. Right away, the front desk girls were great. I've seen all three female hygienist and all were gentle and thorough while getting me in and out the door within a timely manner. My exam was done by Dr. Johnson. He took the time to show me some trouble areas I had going on and fixed some old janky fillings within the week of my initial appointment. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: The staff were so kind, considerate and professional. There wasn't much of a wait time and I was done quickly. They made sure I was comfortable throughout the procedure and checked with me often. Very nice people!

Negative experience: Only problem I had with them is they would not contact a previous endodontist to inform them that the $6400 procedure that Endontist Holms from Tri-State did not work. They claimed it was "not good practice" to communicate with them about that. Hence I lost total respect for this particular Neighborhood Dental.

Fantastic experience: Amazing. My 5 year old son loved Amber. He never does anything alone and he told me to “get out!” Haha he said “This place is fun!” All the staff was cheerful and kind. Wonderful experience. 10 stars!

Fantastic experience: We have been going to Neighborhood Dental for a few years now. I have 4 kids that I have to get done, they always let me schedule all of us at once and help with my littles while I am getting my teeth cleaned too. The staff is amazing and do a great job! We love going there! They were even able to get my youngest cleaned when he has refused to even let me look at his teeth. I couldn’t ask for a better dentist

Fantastic experience: If you have a fear of going to the dentist, fear no more! Neighboorhood on 26th Street has amazing staff and dentists that put those fears to ease. They are professional but also friendly, “not just about business”…highly recommend checking them out!

Negative experience: So it was ok at first and got worse! I had to get a root canal and within 30 days had to get another one. So all Dr. Johnson says is "bummer" about getting another! Very unsympathetic! He always ran out of the room quickly after very silent root canals. He never explained too much! I was never checked in on as he worked. Only once did he complain about how his hand was getting tired! Um, what about having to hold my jaw open for 45+ min? He also hit a nerve and did not acknowledge it until after and just said I felt you jump when I hit that nerve so you might be sore. Never apologized! So I was still sore way after I should not be and I went back in and he attempted to readjust my crown. He did not take any x-rays to see if everything was okay and said he would reevaluate in 6 months! That did not sit well with me so I went to get a second opinion! I am glad I did because the new dentist after taking an x-ray said I still had a pretty bad infection in the root canal and that the tooth had to come out! Imagine had I waited 6 months how much the infection would have progressed! The new dentist apologized that I had to experience this and even he understood it was a horrible thing that happened and he was very sympathetic. He is a much better dentist and checked in on me through the extraction. So I lost the tooth and the crown I paid for and have to end up paying for a failed root canal! I will NOT be returning to Neighborhood Dental!

Fantastic experience: I had a great experience at Neighborhood Dental from the moment I called the front desk. Marissa answered friendly & professionaly and was able to squeeze me in same day! I waited for less than 5 minutes after arrival, then got the pleasure of meeting hygienist Taylor and Dr. Bartunek. Taylor does an excellent job of not only making sure you feel comfortable & relaxed, but informed as well! She is a valuable asset to this office. Dr. Bartunek was friendly and explains your options for care thoroughly. You can relax knowing you're in great hands here at this office with these two helping you. The gal(forgetting the name) who takes care of payments & insurance makes the back end a breeze! Thanks again!

Fantastic experience: I have never liked going to the dentist. Laying on my back while people poke around my mouth is flat out anxiety inducing. Because of how anxious the dentist made me my whole life, I had avoided going in for a normal cleaning for at least 6 years before I started going to Neighborhood Dental. I was terrified at the prospect of even entering a dentist's office, and, looking back, I'm so happy I chose to go to Neighborhood Dental to start fixing the years of dental neglect. I can tell the people at Neighborhood Dental *know* the dentist can be scary - especially for those who haven't been to a dentist in a long time - and they do whatever they can to make it less scary for their patients. *Everyone* I've worked with there - the receptionists, hygienists, dentists, and even the financial aid representative - are non-jugdemental, understanding, and kind. After not taking care of my teeth for a number of years, I unsurprisingly had a number of cavities and issues with my gums, but no one lectured me, and instead showed me the steps that would need to be taken to get my teeth and gums healthy again. And wouldn't you know it, sticking with their plan has improved my smile and gum health! If you haven't been to the dentist in a while and are scared of going back, I highly recommend going to Neighborhood Dental on 26th, they're awesome
