Negative experience: I've been with this office since 2023, and honestly, I've been really patient with their constant rotating staff even before they changed their name. But how they handled my recent situation is just ridiculous. ​I started an Invisalign program through them, which was a huge mistake. It cost me almost $3,000 out of pocket. They sent all my paperwork to a third-party vendor and never followed up with me. The first 10 trays I got (out of 26) weren't even molded properly. I was supposed to get an updated batch, but because of their constant rotating door of employees, they completely dropped the ball. ​Then came my cleaning appointment. As we all know, the economy isn't great right now and people are getting laid off left and right. Well, the literal morning of my appointment, my company's CEO and executive leadership team suddenly resigned. It caused an absolute uproar and my day immediately got slammed with back-to-back all-hands meetings. My job was on the line. This was completely out of my hands. I texted the office first thing in the morning to explain what was happening. Instead of any understanding, the only thing the receptionist cared about was a $50 same-day cancellation fee. I tried to explain how unorthodox and stressful the situation was, but she straight up refused to work with me and just kept repeating that they wouldn't see me until I paid the fee. ​I refused to pay it. This wasn't something I caused, and just like numerous companies, they dropped the news on us the day of with no time to prepare. I told the receptionist that was fine—I moved anyway and traveling from Midtown to Lawrenceville was already a stretch, so this was just the perfect opportunity to switch dentists. I just asked her to give me my remaining 16 Invisalign trays that I had ALREADY paid for. She literally told me I would not receive my items until I paid their $50 cancellation fee. ​They care more about squeezing a $50 fee out of you for a work emergency than giving you the thousands of dollars of product you already bought. Save yourself the trouble and avoid this place. This post is to provide awareness to interested parties and to request my trays I have already been paid for.

Positive experience: From the start of the experience I was welcomed with open arms, offered refreshments, and made sure I was comfortable the whole way through. The dentist was so quick I didn’t know it was complete; guess I was THAT comfortable! The only thing I do not like is I was not prescribed pain medication after my procedure. That caught me off guard however, the entire staff is kind. Thank you Southern Smiles for the experience!

Fantastic experience: This was my first visit and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I was only there for a teeth cleaning, but I got a complete eval. After it was all said and done, a good teeth cleaning was all I needed, and it was quite thorough. Everyone was very friendly throughout the process. They even have free coffee and bottled water if you have to wait. This will be my dentist of choice going forward.

Negative experience: Unethical, negligent, and didn't advise me of costs before performing procedures. I was not advised in advance of any out-of-pocket cost associated with the services rendered on 12/10/2025, nor was I informed which services would be performed, limiting my ability to make an informed decision prior to receiving care. Other dental offices were able to verify with my insurance company in advance regarding any out-of-pocket costs before performing any procedures, but not this one unfortunately. Furthermore, they've threatened to send the charge to collections in order to obtain the money. What kind of business treats their customers this way?? Terrible. Unethical and negligent, stay away at all costs. (02/12/2026 update): Dental office insists that it's my responsibility for the remaining balance due to the denied claim. However, after requiring me to fill out 10 pages of patient forms, they neglected to ask even the most basic of questions at the start of my visit to verify in advance the portion of the costs that would and would not have been covered by my dental insurance. After they performed a comprehensive exam for my initial visit as a new patient, they provided me a treatment plan with a detailed table of the costs for each type of service that would have been rendered (with each service corresponding to a code that could be verified by calling insurance) had I decided to return for a second time after my initial visit. Why did they not provide a similar breakdown of costs in advance to my initial visit for a comprehensive exam as a new patient? The people at this dental office handle patients day-in and day-out all the time, while most patients visit only once every few months. Another dentist that I visited did in-fact try to verify in advance whether I’ve had any other recent dental visits prior to them, and informed me that I may not have sufficient coverage at that point. This proves that it’s more than reasonable to expect Southern Smiles Lawrenceville to do so. The fact that they did not care to do so, and not only that, continue to insist on sending the charges to collections (it’s just $81) feels to me like they do not care about adequately informing patients of any charges in advance. In this case it’s just $81. What if a patient agrees to undergo services that costs thousands of dollars? Will the patient be charged extra without being informing beforehand and have their charges sent to collections if they refuse to pay? Ultimately each person only has 1 set of teeth and it’s up to the patients on whether they want to entrust them with this dental office or not.

Fantastic experience: Update: I want to update my original review. The work they do is actually very good I always leave feeling clean, and I haven’t had any issues with the quality of care since. My frustration came from one appointment where I had an 8 a.m. slot that was confirmed by phone and text, but I ended up waiting almost an hour before being seen. If I wasn’t going to be seen on time, I wish I had been scheduled later. That said, this seems like it may have been a one-off. Every appointment after that has gone smoothly, and I haven’t had any other complaints. I just wanted to acknowledge that while respecting patients’ time matters, the actual service and results have been good.

Fantastic experience: The dentist reviewed my X-rays and completed the exam. SRP was planned for my cleaning but later changed to a prophy. This may be confusing to some, but is standard in some dental offices. The Hygienist will also evaluate the patient after the Drs exam. Then, the Dr and the Hygienist collaborate and agree on a final treatment plan. I had a good experience and my prophy was done the same day. Yay! Thank you Dr. Patel and team.

Fantastic experience: This was a return visit for a cleaning and placement of a temporary crown on one of my teeth. The hygienist, Mr. Song was very detailed in his work explained how far along we were in the cleaning and what was needed when he was done. The dentist and her assistant were professional, caring and efficient with the whole procedure of removing an old filling, plus placing a temporary crown into place on one of my teeth. The porches was complex and lengthy, but the dentist and assistant were thorough and good at their roles. I have a follow up for placement of the permanent crown in 2 weeks and am looking forward to the completion of this task.

Negative experience: My family and I have been going to Southern Smiles since 2021 and even continued after moving an hour away because we trusted their care. Unfortunately, the experience has declined over time, and there always seems to be a new dentist with every visit. During my most recent visit, I called ahead for emergency work to fix a chipped tooth and was promptly scheduled by the wonderful front desk staff. However, once I arrived, Dr. Patel refused to perform the procedure, claiming she needed three hours. She was dismissive and unprofessional throughout the interaction, and it was clear even the front desk team felt uncomfortable about the situation. I ended up walking into a dental office on my way home, where the same work was completed professionally in just 30 minutes. It’s disappointing to see how much the quality, consistency, and reliability have changed.

I originally came here due to immediate dental needs, and this location was the only office that would accommodate on such short notice… so the drive here from Newnan was daunting. But I can honestly say, I will gladly continue to take the 1hr 20 minute drive (or more depending on traffic) simply because of the staff. They continue to go above-and-beyond time after time.

I generally hate going to the dentist it gives me extreme anxiousness, the staff and the dentist made me feel comfortable! They have updated equipment and affordable treatment and payment plan options.

Negative experience: Scheduled back to back appointments for my boyfriend who has severe anxiety and stress surrounding the dentist. They knew this before I made the appointment, weeks prior to them cancelling. We spent the time filling out paperwork (about 30 minutes) including several pages that said if you cancel within 48 hrs you’d be charged $50, and then another page that said we’d be charged $100. Yet, they can cancel on you on their own time without care & you won’t get any money. When I mentioned this to the staff, they said we don’t collect card information, but that’s a lie. We had to submit a payment method on the online paperwork. In addition to the anxiety, I emphasized that because my boyfriend is a manager, he cannot easily get time off of work. So we jumped through hoops to have get time off for the appointment, to just be cancelled on 2 days prior. I was told there was an emergency with a provider, but was told this on 6 days prior, but we still received automatic texts confirming the appointment? Frankly it doesn’t make sense to know 6 days ahead of time that you’re going to have an “emergency” on the day of the appointment. Staff tried to find another provider, but because it was “the weekend” no one responded until Monday (appt was on Wednesday). Their system was also down this morning, and I had to call them to follow up, they didn’t even have the courtesy to call their patients. To say I’m disappointed is an understatement. This is completely unprofessional. The most I got was a “sorry” while completing failing to understand how much this will impact us.

Negative experience: I wouldn't recommend Southern Smiles Lawrenceville to my worst enemy. They messed up my teeth, and I've been in pain for two months. They sent me an extra bill for $1,194, but when I complained about the pain it was causing me financially, they claimed it was a typo, and the correct amount was $194. Despite their explanation, I'm still frustrated and considering taking action.
