Fantastic experience: A very pleasant dental clinic: attentive doctors, friendly staff, and a comfortable atmosphere. Thank you for the care!

Negative experience: If a 0-star rating were possible, that’s exactly what I would give this clinic. I do not recommend this dental clinic. My son had a cavity treated here, and the dentist placed a filling. During the procedure, the dentist recommended placing a special liner under the filling, saying it would help prevent the tooth from hurting. The liner cost about $180, and I agreed to pay for it. After the treatment, my son’s tooth started hurting. When we returned to the clinic, the dentist told us he had pulpitis and needed root canal treatment. I reminded the dentist that I had paid for the liner to help prevent this, but he replied that it was “not a guarantee” that the tooth would not hurt. We decided to get a second opinion from another dental clinic. After examining the tooth, the new dentist told us that my son had already developed periodontitis. According to him, the previous dentist had not completely removed the decay and had placed the filling directly over or too close to the nerve, which caused the infection and inflammation to spread. He also explained that, based on the condition of the tooth, a root canal should have been recommended from the beginning instead of simply placing a filling. I am extremely disappointed by the lack of professionalism. I paid nearly $200 for a procedure that did not solve the problem, and according to the second dentist, it was not the appropriate treatment. Instead of treating the tooth properly, they delayed the correct treatment, and my son’s condition became worse. I cannot recommend this clinic. Be very careful before trusting them with your dental care.

Fantastic experience: Just want to express how greatly satisfied I am with Dr. Gary Beyer. He is an exceptional dentist that pays attention to detail. My teeth have been in great condition for years now. Also it’s such a stress free, friendly and comforting environment in his office. My whole family has been going to see him for years now and we are all very happy. He is very caring for his patients. Also want to point out that I recently finished my Invisalign with him and now my teeth are perfect!

Negative experience: Six years as a loyal patient and apparently one illness wipes out all goodwill. I missed two appointments while seriously sick and didn’t realize until after hours that I needed to call. When I explained the situation, not only was my Saturday appointment denied, but the PSR was surprisingly rude and dismissive about it. I understand cancellation polices. I don’t understand the complete lack of empathy and professionalism. Disappointing way to treat a long time patient. I use to enjoy coming into the dentist, last appointment it was rough and wasn’t done thoroughly either but I didn’t complain because I have been a long time patient. So disheartening, will be changing my dentist.

Fantastic experience: Great experience with Dr. Alexander Portnoy. I had a mix of work done over several visits: fillings, cavity treatment, an extraction, and ceramic crowns. Dr. Portnoy is thorough, calm, and very precise - he explains what he’s doing and why, and the results look and feel right. I’d definitely come back and recommend him to others.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Portnoy continues to do a great job on my teeth. He is very gentle with the anesthetic. Advocated for me with my insurance to get me the care I needed. Ended up doing 6 crowns on my front teeth, completely changing my smile and my life. Ive heard him speak at least 3 languages, very bright guy. Highly recommend.

Negative experience: I am extremely dissatisfied with this dental clinic — constant delays of more than 40 minutes have become the norm, even though appointments are scheduled for a specific time, which shows a complete lack of respect for patients; even more frustrating is the staff’s behavior — no apologies or explanations, just rude and condescending attitudes, as if your time has no value. What raises even more concern is their approach to treatment: they may insist that you need 5–6 fillings, but after visiting another dentist, it turns out these procedures are not needed at all, creating a strong impression that unnecessary treatments are being pushed deliberately to charge more through insurance. This level of service and integrity is absolutely unacceptable.

Negative experience: Honestly, I would give this place 0 stars if I could. The front desk staff, especially the blonde with glasses, has been extremely rude every time I’ve visited. I’ve only had one decent greeting from another receptionist, but everyone else seems unnecessarily unfriendly. My main concern, though, is the dental care itself. I went in because something was clearly wrong with my gums, but the dentist didn’t fully examine me and seemed to brush me off. I was told to wait 3–6 months to see if the issue would improve, but it only got worse. I was in pain and knew this wasn’t normal. I’ve since moved to a different dentist who actually cares and resolved my issue. I’m extremely disappointed with both the staff and the level of care here. The way my situation was handled, along with the consistently unpleasant attitudes at the front desk, makes it hard to recommend this office to anyone. Save your time and money just go somewhere else!!!!! I am sharing this review to inform others; I do not wish to be contacted about it.

Negative experience: I made my first appointment through Instagram. Later I had to cancel it and I asked what other day I could be rescheduled to, to which I received the answer "We canceled your appointment" and after that I was blocked!

Negative experience: If I could rate them a 0 I would. The staff was rude to me from the get-go. I had asked about a service and the scheduler told me they provided it but when I asked the dentist he belittled me for even asking. The hygienist called me a child and spoke down to me despite me being 23. The dentist took a quick look at my mouth and charged me for a "full mouth debridement" despite going back and seeing it wasn't as bad as he thought - which was something I had no say in and my insurance didn't cover fully unlike a normal cleaning. He told me I needed to visit every 3 months to get cleanings or else he'd charge me more in the future. When I asked about potential ways to fix my bite, the dentist and hygienist both couldn't believe my bite was as it was and demeaned me for that as well, as if I CHOSE to have a jaw that didn't line up properly. I have never felt so angry, insulted, and infantilized in ANY medical office as I did in this dentist office and I can not in good faith recommend it to anyone. In the future, simply to avoid this practice, I will drive 45min each way to go to the dental office I went to prior to moving to Wheeling - that is how poor this experience was.

Negative experience: Yesterday I had an appointment at this dental clinic, but the experience was very unpleasant. The front desk staff did not look at me until I spoke first, and one woman spoke to me in an aggressive and rude manner. My name was not on the list, even though I had made an appointment in advance. She then rudely asked why I came at all and what the purpose of my visit was, even though everything had already been explained when I booked the appointment. I only came for a simple check-up and one filling. Because of this disrespectful attitude, I decided to leave without receiving any service. I hope the clinic improves its customer service. I understand that misunderstandings can happen, but please improve your communication with patients first of all. Also, please make sure that the person who schedules appointments explains everything clearly from the beginning, instead of saying “yes, of course, everything will be done” and that the insurance is accepted. After I spent a lot of my time coming to your clinic, I was spoken to in a disrespectful tone and made to feel as if I had no reason to be there. I also work in customer service, and I would never allow myself to speak to clients in such a disrespectful way.

Negative experience: As a new patient I chose this dental clinic as a location convenience. My appointment was at 2:30pm and one of the receptionists calls me at 1:35 on the day of the appointment asking me if I can make a 2:00 opening. I said I'll be there as soon as I can. I arrived and checked in at 2:09. And waited. 5 minutes later she informed me they are cleaning the chair and will be ready for me soon. And I waited.. And waited.. I saw 1 other patient come in after me but called in before me! When I heard one of them munching away on their doordash lunch, which was over 30 minutes later, I realized I was completely forgotten. I walked up to the front desk and sarcastically asked if they are still cleaning the chair. The one with the leg brace jumped to her feet (you know who you are), visibly aware she forgot about me, and went inside. She came back and mumbled some excuse about the doctor. Another receptionist asked me if I had filled out new patient forms. I replied that no one asked me to, so she gave me a tablet with a different patient's name to fill out! I handed back the tablet saying "this is not me" requested my id back and told them I'll go somewhere else because it's obvious they forgot about me. No one said anything, 4 front staff, not one apology! Too bad my review is about the front office staff, but that's the first impression. Why call me to come earlier and have me wait even passed my regular appointment time?? This was last week and I still haven't heard an apology. Rude, ignorant and unprofessional staff. What a pity..

Negative experience: do not recommend this dental office. Before my appointment, I specifically asked if they accept my dental insurance, and I was told that they do. After a routine teeth cleaning, I unexpectedly received a bill, and later I started getting calls from a collection agency demanding payment for charges that should have been covered by my insurance. If I had been honestly informed in advance about any out-of-pocket costs or insurance issues, I would not have agreed to the service. This feels misleading and shows a lack of transparency. Be careful and make sure to get everything in writing before visiting this office.

Negative experience: Very disappointing experience. The dentist was rushed and dismissive, and I didn’t feel listened to at all. The treatment was uncomfortable and poorly explained. I won’t be returning and would not recommend this clinic.

Negative experience: Hi. I would like to share my negative experience with this dental clinic. I had a crown done there, and less than two years later it started to hurt — the tooth under it. I went to another dentist, and he told me that the crown was poorly made and was actually loose, almost falling off. He also mentioned that most clinics provide at least a two-year warranty — as he does, for example. I called this clinic to ask about the warranty, but they told me they don’t provide any. They also said that if I want to fix the problem, I would have to pay again. Very disappointing experience. I do not recommend this clinic.

Fantastic experience: My mom’s tooth broke and she was in a lot of pain and has dental anxiety. Dr. Portnoy was able to see her today and was very thorough with his treatment plan. He was so kind and even made time to help my mom today so she wouldn’t have to be in pain any longer! He put her dental anxiety at ease and everything went so smoothly. Thank you Dr. Portnoy!!

Negative experience: Found them on instagram ads so I texted them for some pricing, was told implant starts at $1900 which was okay, but then I reached out via phone and was told $4200 . Also the person on insta was sort of rude because I was looking for a better deal. I will definitely skip because it feels like scam already, be careful if you decide to go with them be careful and collect all the information before scheduling.

Negative experience: All I can tell you is this place sees their patients as checks. Ive been to other dentist and never has a doctor told me "I'm not making money out of this." Im sorry but isn't your patients well being not a concern? I came in with ache and left in more pain.

Negative experience: They work with a limited number of insurances. On the phone they say that the insurance works, at the end of the procedure they say the insurance does not work and you must pay by cash or by credit card. Horror

Fantastic experience: I got my wisdom teeth removed and was really nervous. Dr. Beyer removed all 4 in under 30 minutes and I was out to dinner a few hours later. He did a great job 10/10.

Negative experience: The staff is rude, the prices are insanely inflated, and the way they treat you — you just keep coming back again and again. This isn’t a dental clinic, it’s a money-making machine. They charged $210 just for anesthesia — literally just one shot, nothing else! And when my husband said he’d rather go to another clinic, they actually laughed and said, “This isn’t a marketplace.” Unbelievable.

Negative experience: Dr. Gary Beyer is the owner of NextGen Dental & Orthodontics and now I know why he was so arrogant , rude and simply insane. I wish I checked this before. I will take some time to make sure that it is noted. it is only a courtesy that I will do for him on Earth as I was in tears because of his rudeness, sarcasm, discrimination, rudeness, lack of communinication and the pride he takes in fighting with sick patients. Simply pathetic….

Negative experience: I wanted to make an emergency appointment because my tooth fell out but the root was left inside and it’s hurts me. The girl on the phone (receptionist) laughed because I didn't know whether I was going to have the tooth removed or treated. Poor attitude towards a new client.

Fantastic experience: I finished treatment at the clinic less than a month ago. I had implants installed, which was a long process. I had time to get acquainted with almost all the procedures. Dr. Beyer assembled a great team - from the receptionist to the doctors. I am happy with my experience, and I have the warmest memories.

Negative experience: I had an extremely disappointing and intimidating experience at this dental office. The front desk staff stood up and yelled at my kids, which was completely unprofessional and unnecessary. As a parent, I understand the need to manage children’s behavior, but there are far better ways to handle such situations than resorting to yelling. The waiting area also lack any entertainment or activities for children, which could have helped keep them occupied. I strongly recommend that management provide better training for their staff on how to appropriately interact with children and families. This experience has left me questioning whether this office is the right fit for families with young children. Edit: No accountability. Reflect. Completely and even more satisfied with the treatment, the girls at the reception are friendly and always happy to help. Negative experience: All of the staff is super nice and helpful except for the receptionist at the front (Jennifer). She always talks to patients with attitude and the manager says “she doesn’t do anything wrong”. In the time I have worked in my professional career in the medical field, never have I spoke to patients with an attitude and it was fine. It’s not fine actually and patients should be treated with respect. Some of these receptionist you can tell have not much experience working with patients. I mean it’s a desk job of course you’re not going to interact and have a bond with patients, but nonetheless, you can be taught how to treat people wherever you work.

Fantastic experience: Two weeks ago, Dr. Alex removed my two lower wisdom teeth. He did everything professionally and quickly (one tooth didn’t want to come out, but the doctor did everything possible to make sure I didn’t feel any pain or discomfort, and he managed it like a pro ). The second picture shows me right after the extraction, while the third and fourth are from the next morning. There was no swelling, just tolerable pain, which I managed as Dr. Alex recommended. A week later, I came in for a follow-up, and they told me everything was healing perfectly, with no signs of inflammation. This isn’t my first time using this clinic’s services, and I genuinely recommend it! If I had two more wisdom teeth, I’d definitely go to Dr. Alex again

Fantastic experience: Outstanding dentist, wonderful bedside manner and great hand skills. I am a dentist myself and Dr Portnoy is my personal dentist, I fly in out from of state to get my work done by him and would recommend my friends and family to him with no reservation. Fantastic experience: I have been coming here for about a year and have always had a pleasant experience. I’ve had several dental procedures and have had to make a few visits. Each time I’m treated kindly and feel at ease. The front desk staff is always friendly and very helpful. Dr. Alex is very thorough and always makes sure you’re doing ok during his procedures. It’s a bit of a drive for me but it’s definitely worth it!

Negative experience: To the general manager!!! I called today 10/13/23 at 3:03 pm , the front desk woman was very rude!! Doesn’t speak good English, and doesn’t want to answer simple questions!!! I asked her if any orthodontist working after 3 , and she kept telling me that from 7:45 to 3 o’clock, „I am answering this a thousand times every day” that’s what she said in a rude way to me!!! so this woman doesn’t like this job unfortunately!!! And can’t handle simple questions!!! Horrible customer service!!!

Negative experience: Definitely not recommended! Ive been trying to see a dentist for over a week. No empathy, poor customer service! Edit... accommodating? Your joking..you call me just before the appointment to say your roster doesnt show me. Then offer an appointment a week away. In a week my face will be so swollen. Your staff should be calling insurance!!! If you went to the pharmacy to get medication and they said you needed to call insurance to prove your covered, you would be pissed! Thats poor service!!

Fantastic experience: Two weeks ago, I rushed to see Dr. Gary Beyer for an examination of what I thought was just one small speck on my tooth. Let me be frank, I neglected my routine check-ups for long enough time, and would probably have found myself in a much worse situation later. I had many excuses but let’s just skip that part and instead move forward to where I was in a chair and Dr. Beyer was saving my teeth, my overall health and money, of course, first by administering local anesthesia, and then by deep cleaning and removing the two wisdom teeth that weren’t worth saving anyway. Never have I had an experience like that before. Let’s put it this way: I’ve always had respect for the profession but obviously wasn’t a fan; now, for the next session I have no fear at all — the whole thing took only about 45 minutes, and I didn’t feel much. After all was done, I only had the strongest words to express my admiration — such was my excitement — that one wouldn’t post here without the parental advisory sticker. But Dr. Beyer really did some sorcery there, or maybe he’s just the best dentist I have ever met. Other than that, assistants and receptionists are awesome, and they provide great service and always there to cheer you up which basically reflects attitude of everyone who works in the clinic. Thank you so much Dr. Beyer, and I will update here as soon as we are through with the next stage.

Negative experience: Bad service they push you to do treatments not covered by insurance without letting you know and after few months they send the bill.

Negative experience: The worst experience ever!!!!!!do not recommend to anyone, their all procedures takes around 15 min for me and it looks like she was hurrying to go to the lunch. They want to take maximum money from your insurance and to give you the worst service ever. I was shocked from everything what happened!!!! They didn’t do their work good, they just want to earn money from you, and they don’t want that you have your own teeth. Everything what you hear from them that you should have crowns on the teeth.

He explained all the options, walked me through the procedure, set clear expectations and me feel comfortable ( which is not easy, I have major anxiety in the chair). I was out of pain in less than 48 hours and so happy I could finally eat a full meal again! The staff here is really great too, and the office is built for efficiency. I'm very greatful to have found a Dentist I can stick with!

Negative experience: Very bad service from the staff and they call in patients very late and do not understand what order they follow to call in the patients . I have been made to wait for a long time even beyond my appointment time . I do not recommend this facility at all . The crown they placed on my tooth fell off and when I headed in for emergency appointment they kept me waiting for long. It’s very frustrating experience . They didn’t attend to me inspite of the tooth paining. I don’t recommend Dr Maya at all

Negative experience: Went in and wrote my name down to check in then was told “Just go sit” by the front desk instead of them talking to me & checking me in or taking my insurance. Had an appointment at 2pm and waited in the lobby for an hour and 15 minutes and never got seen but all of the people who came in 30 minutes after me where getting called to the back for their appointments. Why wouldn’t they tell me about the long wait time? Slow and unorganized. Would not recommend.

Fantastic experience: Updated review!! A year ago I gave only 3 stars, BUT TODAY I'm giving Dr. ALEX 5 stars! He fixed my tooth that cracked in half(I had no pain), when he was done, I couldn't even tell which tooth he fixed! I am shocked at his talent! Definitely recommend having your family come here!

Negative experience: they put unprofessional dentists (the young one also speaks spanish) for 7-year-old children who, instead of brushing their teeth, cut their gums far from the tooth, blood flows, the child cries in pain, other doctor starts yelling at the child so that he is even more frightened and shaking with fear. they should be banned from working!!! practice cutting gums on your kids! unprofessional approach and child abuse!!!

Dr. Alex Portnoy always provides detailed information about all the advantages and disadvantages of each possible treatment method, gives an opportunity to choose the most optimal one, and also reports a lot of effort to solve those problems that some consider too difficult and hopeless. With him, you will forget about the fear of a visit to the dentist !!!

Negative experience: After my today’s visit to this clinic I honestly felt like being robbed in the middle of the day. Came in for my daughters 1st tooth extraction , scheduled appointment and was told it’s going to cost $50 over the phone. 2 of our friends were here before with the same procedure, same price. The procedure took less than 10mins. After all, I was informed by front desk the total came up to $350 The two ladies at the front desk were confused all the time about payment and pricing. They had to go ask the upper management twice. I asked to speak to a Manager and was told there’s no Manager but they are managers. After long arguing finally they called the doctor Alexander Portnoy who apologized and explained everything and agreed to remove some of the procedures that were performed without my consent and prior approval on pricing. The doctor walked away and the front desk was still confused about payment & pricing. I was still charged 3 times more then the price was told over the phone upon scheduling the appointment. To be noted that during my entire visit/waiting there were people with the same issues as mentioned in previous reviews, either up charges or customers with appointment issues not made aware of and it seems like this happens on a regular basis. I would strongly recommend avoiding this place and if you ended up reading my review while waiting for your appointment in the clinic already, then make sure you ask questions and you’re clearly given the right pricing for whatever procedures performed, UPFRONT!

Negative experience: If i could give 0 stars, I would! This office does not actually care about patients only about their money. I scheduled an appointment & went in for a quick check on my tooth that my crown fell off of. I had 2 staff look at the tooth, and instead of listening to what i wanted to do with my own tooth and the issues i had, they dismissed them and insisted on washing my old crown and just putting it back on my tooth and kept telling me that they could just recement it in. I refused, so they took my crown, put it in a small container, and sent me to the front desk to pay $140 for 5 minutes of absolutely no help and just to refer me to a specialist I really don't need to see. They just wanted me out of the chair so they could take another patient.

Negative experience: My elderly mother was subjected to what amounts to aggravated physical assault at this dental office! I made an appointment for my mother with Dr. Gary Beyer after confirming with his staff that he accepted my mother’s insurance. On the day of my mom’s appointment, a lady who did not introduce herself showed up and started cleaning my mom’s teeth. My mom did NOT need a cleaning, as she’d just gotten one the month prior. My mother interrupted the cleaning and the lady started taking x-rays, cutting my mom’s mouth in several places. Then another lady came in, once again, did not introduce herself or explain who she was, and dug her hands into my mom’s mouth. My mother was a new patient at this office but she did know that her appointment was with a male doctor, so at this point she just walked out. I overheard the commotion from the waiting room and came to find my normally calm and easygoing mother visibly shaking and extremely agitated. When I asked what was going on, I was told that Dr. Beyer wasn’t even in that day and that he did not take my mother’s insurance. Dr. Beyer’s staff was dismissive and unapologetic. My mother required treatment for her broken tooth. Instead, she was treated horribly and abused. Would not recommend this dental office to anybody.

Fantastic experience: I was always hesitant to go to the dental office until Dr. Portnoy became my dentist. I had a lot of dental work but he came up with a great treatment plan and he always explains the process thoroughly which lessens my anxiety and puts my mind at ease. He does amazing dental work and truly the best dentist!

(Meridian/County Care) I can't say enough good things about this office - first impression, the front desk is very kind and organized which is always appreciated. Dr. Alex Portnoy did a thorough exam addressing not only my initial concern, but identified potential problems that could be prevented with treatment. They were quick to schedule my procedure, and when I was still experiencing sensitivity afterwards he saw me right away and fixed the problem immediately. I even received a courtesy call the next day to see how I was recovering, a nice gesture. Great bedside manner, gentle hand and very knowledgeable. 10/10 would recommend!

Fantastic experience: We have been coming to NextGen dental for a few years now. Larissa (dental assistant) is amazing with my 3 young kids and always calms them down and takes her time with them. Dr. Beyer checks them and makes them laugh and comfortable during his examine. We’re in and out within a reasonable timeframe which is amazing while at the dentist. I couldn’t recommend them more!
