The facility was modern, clean and well-run. The dental hygienist was thorough and completed a manual cleaning without complaint per my request. The doctor and hygienist were also nice and thorough in teaching how to care for my teeth and what to watch for. I never felt pressured or "sold" unnecessary treatments or products while also providing plans to address possible future challenges. Thank you for the genuinely GREAT experience! Experiencia fantástica: I finally found a home as far as a dentist. From the Dr.to the staff, all very good. Everyone is friendly, efficient, and professional. Dr. H is conservative. If it's not broke, don't fix it. I like that in my healthcare providers. My previous dentist wanted xrays every visit. And guess who got stuck all the non-covered charges. Yep! Highly recommend HC Dental. The office has that old-fashioned, country dentist feel to it.

Experiencia fantástica: I was upset, but now I can tell you, I'm completely satisfied with the service I received once they called me back to fix the mistake and improve it. Customer Service was excellent.
Experiencia negativa: Stay away! Dishonest and deceptive business practices. Lack fiduciary duties to their patients to charge the insurance companies more. Never had one issue with my teeth, 35+ years, until now. Stay far, far away from Dr. Lauren Sweeney! She recommended a “proactive” filling. Of course she rushed through it and decided to work on more teeth “just to make sure”. Bite was off and mouth was constantly sore. Went back for the soreness and they “fixed it as best they could”. Went through all of that just for the damn filling to fall out. Hill Country Dental needs to be audited by the board.

Our doctors work hard to care for patients and to build trust in treatment recommendations by thoroughly documenting issues with radiographs and intraoral pictures. As with any medical or dental procedure, outcomes are not always guaranteed. If patients are diligent with their maintenance and follow up appointments and bring issues to our attention in a timely manner, we are often able to work with them on a solution that is fair for all parties. In some cases we may choose to refer to our trusted specialists if we are having difficulty diagnosing or for more challenging cases in which a specialist is better able to resolve an issue. If an issue has not been brought to our attention in several years we typically require an updated exam to determine the best course of action as treatment recommendations may change through that course of time. We also cannot determine the cause of a poor outcome without review if it's been several years since we've seen a patient. We understand that a doctor patient relationship needs to be based on trust. We take into consideration whenever possible patient preferences when scheduling with our doctors and have several doctors within our practices to request treatment with. Dr. Sweeney, however, has not been an active provider with us in almost two years.
We are sorry to hear you have had trouble with a restoration. Under routine care, we do our best to provide the best care possible to avoid these situations. We appreciate your time leaving the review and will continue to strive to serve our patients with the best care possible.

Experiencia negativa: About a year ago I went to Hill country Dental for exam and cleaning. The office staff and assistants were great. My dentist Dr Sweeney was my dentist and talked me into some dental work that has been the worst experience of my life. For over a year my teeth and bite have been so bad I can’t hardly eat, created sores in my mouth and bite so far off I can’t close my mouth. I went back to her 4 or 5 times to try to get it fixed, no results!! I spent over 5000 out of pocket and teeth have never been so bad. I finally went to different dentist and without talking bad about a colleague he said my bite was so bad he spent my first visit fixing them. He wasn’t surprised that I couldn’t eat and teeth bothered me so bad. So he spent almost 2 hours fixing my teeth on my first visit. Basically redoing what I spent 5000 on. When I left that day my teeth felt so good and I could eat. He did say that the work I had should not have been the way it was. I did like the office but Dr Sweeney did work I didn’t need and did the work bad.

For clarity for anyone reading this review, we highly encourage our patients to please call our office immediately with any issues and we even have several providers to choose from if there's ever a need for a second opinion. Our patients are given options for treatment and ultimately have the say in what treatment and timing is comfortable for them. While some treatment plans are more straightforward and restorative in nature, other cosmetic concerns in addition also have other factors at hand such as shape, size, and biting forces. With such forces, if a patient opts to break the treatment into phases, such treatment plans also require compliance from the patient toward both the timing of the treatment (not waiting too long between visits) and wearing the recommended devices. Bite adjustments may also be necessary throughout any treatment plan, so it is important to keep appointments according to schedule and contact us for any concerns.

Experiencia negativa: My husband went there in Jan. His teeth hurt worse now than before. They grossly over billed by more than 800 dollars and it’s the end of may and they still haven’t reimbursed us. We have called every other week to follow up. Bad billing team and rude when we call to ask where our money is. We paid them what was “due” at the time of service but they can’t pay us back the overpayment for months on end..they always state it was an insurance thing, then the accounting department, now apparently only one lady can issue the repayment and she only comes once a week…not returning.
We make every effort to meet patient requests as timely as possible. Every estimate provided is based on what is disclosed to us by the insurance company, so credits are not truly foreseen until the claim is processed. Unfortunately, when it comes to refunds, we are at the mercy of the claims having to be processed and paid by insurance first, and the processing times that entails. Generally, we usually ask patients to coordinate this by contacting us as they receive their explanation of benefits since we must know their refund method and cannot assume the method of payment used is still valid to refund directly back to, or if there have been any recent changes to their address. It's also an option to use any credit toward future appointments. Anything outside of that notification process though is us trying to go above and beyond which we make every attempt to and are saddened if we fall short of those efforts. We address every concern especially for training purposes as a growing practice that strives to provide optimal care. We appreciate the time spent on this review, and look forward to continually improving.

I went in to get an exam/treatment plan, and now I’m actually excited to keep coming back to fix things. Everyone was so nice and compassionate. I’m so glad I chose Hill Country.
