Experiencia fantástica: New patient, impressed! The entire staff did not disappoint. From beginning to end the staff represented professional, efficient, knowledgeable service. Highly recommended.

Experiencia negativa: Neither my wife, or i, lasted 6 months here as new patients before they FORCED us to find a different dental office. At my initial exam i was told i needed to have my remaining upper teeth removed, and get a denture made, because saving them "wasn't worth the work". I informed them that i was going to be starting 2 months of cancer radiation soon, so it would have to wait until that was done. Then i found out my insurance wouldn't cover it for several months after my radiation was completed, due to work i had done the year before. Then when i attempted to schedule my 6 month cleaning, the receptionist informed me that Dr. Alan "REFUSED" to clean my teeth until my other work was done. This was in early May. When i said insurance wouldn't cover it until mid September, they still refused, and didn't care that this would cost us several thousand dollars without insurance. After voicing my displeasure, they completely changed what i was told, and shown on my x-rays during my initial exam, and claimed i had other issues that i know i don't have, in an attempt at justification. My wife was told at her initial exam that she needed "deep cleaning" of 2 teeth that had crowns and would require 3 appointments over 6 months. When she declined, and attempted to schedule her first cleaning, they did the exact same thing to her, and the receptionist told her they would not clean her teeth until she complied! Not our idea of how dental patients should be treated, and there should never be a reason for a dentist to refuse to do a cleaning, and this is a new one for both of us. They don't give "recommendations". They give REQUIREMENTS, to be done immediately, before any cleanings are done, and they don't care if you're waiting for insurance approval. They also "require" full x-rays every 3 years before they will do anything, and didn't care that our insurance only covers them every 5. You don't have a say or a choice with these people, and aren't allowed to decline any services. We believe these 'requirements' would have been never-ending, and even more costly in the future.

Experiencia fantástica: I have been coming here for almost 20 years. Since moving 10 years ago my drive is now over 30 minutes, but well worth it. Laurie is an amazing hygienist and all of the dentists are wonderful!

Experiencia fantástica: Couldn’t have asked for a better experience. They make you feel very welcome and explain every step of the process to alleviate any anxiety you may have about Dentist visits. I had some defects in two of my front 4 teeth that caused me to be insecure about smiling at times and Dr Phill corrected my defects and I honestly can’t stop smiling. I feel like a new person in a sense. I had a crown placed as well and was able to watch my mold being made right in front of me (which was pretty cool!) and the procedure was smooth sailing. 10/10 recommend!

Experiencia negativa: Had an implant break randomly that Dr Martin had told me would last at least 10 years after only 2-3 years. Dr Martin went to town working on my issue and wasn’t able to remove the previous implant. He admitted after tearing my gums up and destroying my teeth and jaw enamel that he should have advised me to go to an oral surgeon prior but he made a mistake. Left a giant hole in my gums and a missing tooth that was so embarrassing I ended up quitting my job and struggling for 5 years. Future doctors said he placed the implant way too close for such a small position which caused the eventual break down. He charged me to have any temporary maintenance and then cut me off completely when I was extremely upset and refused to help me at all. I spent about 20 years of dental hell with this man who will operate on you without consent, concern, and without any repercussions or destroying my mouth and it will never be the same again. My gums are so destroyed from him trying to remove a faulty implant that he inserted in the first place, on top of miserable feelings of embarrassment from teeth related issues in general.

Experiencia negativa: First off all, my Husband goes to this Dentist & my Husband recommended this Dentist for our Daughter. My Daughter's Dentist is Dr. Pendleton & her school & work hours interfere with Dr. Pendleton's schedule. We made an appointment with this Dentistry for my Daughter to have her teeth cleaned. My Husband took my Daughter to her appointment, she got her tooth cleaned. Her appt. was @ 2pm she was done around 3pm. We sitting at the dinner table eating dinner & watching the 5pm news. My Husband receives a text @ 5:07 pm asking him if he by chance "PICKED UP" a purple retainer case from the room he was in My Husband shows me the text. First of all for this to be a professional Dentistry I wouldn't have text no patients asking them have they by chance picked up a purple retainer case from the room they were in. 2nd My Husband wasn't in the room he was in the lobby waiting on our Daughter to get done. My Daughter was in the room. 3rd Why would my Daughter pick up a retainer case that she doesn't need. She came there to get her teeth cleaned not to get retainers or a retainer container. 4th This let's me know that you didn't thoroughly clean the exam room before my Daughter went in the room. I am not only offended by the text you sent my Husband it's like you accused my Daughter of stealing. My Daughter doesn't have braces or wear retainers why would she need a retainer case. When a person picks up things that don't belong to them that is called theft & we don't steal. We are hard working African American citizens, yes hard working we work for everything we have. If your establishment doesn't want African Americans visiting your establishment why don't you put a White's Only sign on the door as well as on Google since that is how my Husband found this Dentistry. I promise you we will take our business elsewhere. Who ever sent the text from Martin Dentistry you should have sent a mass text to all the patients that visited today and asked them have the by chance picked up a purple retainer case that would have been more appropriate or better yet ASKED if they have by chance SAW a purple retainer case.

Experiencia fantástica: After approximately 10-11 years without seeing a dentist, I had terrible anxiety and was really afraid to see a dentist. Dr. Jeffrey Martin and his assistant were extremely kind, patient and understanding. They walked me through my fillings and scaling with grace and let me keep my autonomy. They checked in constantly to see how I was feeling and took their time. The night before my dental work I was having panic attacks. About 25 minutes into my appointment, I was at ease and my anxiety was completely gone. I’d highly recommend this dental office. You’re more than just a box to check/name on a list here.

Painful cleaning; after going to a new dentist I realize they gave me a deep cleaning without local anesthesia which may be why it was so painful. Took a year to get a follow-up procedure because they dragged their feet on collecting insurance information. Also, never got a referral; I understand Invisalign wouldn’t work since I needed extra help, but they never gave me info. They were more interested in making me have surgery and when I declined, they stopped caring. I switch this year to a different dentist, and they’ve been great! I wouldn’t recommend unless you need minimal work.

The youngest brother was my dentist, and he was both funny and incredibly knowledgeable. He made the visit feel relaxed and even enjoyable (which I never thought I’d say about going to the dentist!). Experiencia negativa: I have been going here for over 20 years but I will never recommend this business to anyone. They did not call me to inform me about some appointment, but sent me a $90 bill for missed appointment. I called immediately to ask them to remove this $90 charge for services not provided but I was told by someone who lacked empathy and understanding, to spend over $500 for teeth cleaning and other services so that they can remove this $90 missed appointment fee even though there was 0 message or information about this appointment that never was scheduled. I mean greed should have limits. If these guys are not considerate towards their 20 year old customers (for a dubious missed appointment about which they never called) you can imagine, how profit minded they are, and less caring about actually providing service and helping people. In the past 20 years, I have always paid them cash and the premium prices for the services provided, and to be treated like this goes to show that businesses have lost integrity and heart. There used to be a time when businesses had integrity and were respectful towards their customers and were taking money for the services provided. But long gone are such times, now we have businesses leaching people by any and all means, even if it means charging for the services not provided. UPDATE: They responded saying they sent plenty of reminders. If that was true, how is it possible for a customer to ignore the reminders and then wait to contest the bill for the missed appointment? No one in their right mind would do that. Customers would choose cancel after receiving such reminders and in my case there were NO reminders. They did not send me any because perhaps they thought that I would cancel them otherwise. Receiving a bill for the services not provided is only possible when there is total lack of reminders for an appointment that was scheduled without customer's awareness due to them scheduling this automatically. I mean, think about it. How convenient this is for businesses to auto schedule appointments and claim that they sent reminders, and then bill customers for services not provided. Greed is another word for this.

Experiencia fantástica: Both times I've been in, everyone was very sociable and friendly. They actually care about your dental health instead of just forcing things on you without explanation. They also make sure you're comfortable with the entire process. They were very gentle both times I've had my scaling procedures done, and even helped me understand why i was still having tartar build up even though i water pick regularly. Extra brownie points because they stayed open for me the other day for my appointment while it was snowing badly. It's not easy for me to reschedule my PTO so that meant a lot for them to do that.

I get the impression from him and his hygenists that I do not take great care of my teeth each time I walk in to get my cleanings done. But, I always do my best brushing and flossing every single morning and every single night. I will continue to do so to feel like my oral health matters to them!

And I finally broke down and went after years of not seeing anyone. They fixed ALL of my insecurities. I'm not embarrassed to smile now. My teeth will never be perfectly straight or white but the world of difference I can see nearly brings me to tears. And I had to have a molar drilled in for quite a while, as well. The dentist and the dental assistant made sure I was comfortable, talked me through any possibilities of pain, reassured me of everything, and gave me great advice for the future. I was so comfortable during the drilling that I could have slept, honestly. It's the best dentist experience I ever had. And I'm not afraid to go anymore. I'll be more comfortable going in every 6 months or so for cleanings and keeping my teeth in better shape. I highly recommend this place, and I'm so glad I chose this place as my new dentist office when I moved here. And the front desk assistant remembered me from weeks prior. It instantly has felt like a dentist home. Dr. Jeffrey Martin is my dentist. Kassie (sp? Girl, I'm sorry I forgot how to spell it) is the dental assistant. Excellent experiences so far.

I went to see another clinic in the area to have my crown re-cemented but that other clinic suggested that I get an implant right away which is too much when I just wanted my crown re-attached. So Im so happy that I went to Dr Martins Clinic instead, Dr Phillip is so experienced and helped me quickly. They fixed my concern at an affordable cost! The receptionists are also friendly, they explained well to me the process and payment options available. They are indeed a gem in Shawnee!

Having three root canals in a year has been rough and Dr. Jeffrey, Dr. Steve, Cassie and the entire staff made the process manageable and always made time to take care of me during my dental emergencies. You can always count on these people to take care of their patients!

Experiencia negativa: Update: They actually cracked my tooth which resulted in a crown. Potentially will have to have it completely extracted if I am still in pain because the crack would be at the roots. This also means I get to pay for an implant. They also call you after they see your review to “see if everything is ok” then proceed to tell you that maybe you just have sensitive teeth. Nope, you broke it sir and I hope you see this updated review as well! I hate to post this because I truly like the dental hygienists here. Unfortunately I have had a second cavity filled here which looks like will result in another root canal. I am dumbfounded that according to the dentist “the small cavity” has turned into more cost for me to get a root canal. I have had cavities filled at a previous facility before Martin Family and never had one result in a root canal. At this point I will be seeking services else where as I am tired of being in pain after a pretty simple dental procedure.
