Experiencia negativa: Unfortunately, my experience at Ideal Dental Georgetown has been less than desirable. Each time I visited, there are always recommendations for things that didn’t feel necessary accompanied by long wait times. I have spent approximately an hour and a half each visit. Finally, I made the decision to switch to a new provider, which confirmed my suspicions that the recommendations I received from Ideal Dental were not necessary. Attempting to get Ideal Dental to send my dental records to my new provider took approximately two weeks and countless phone calls to various Georgetown office staff and corporate office staff until it was finally accomplished. In addition, I was in and out of my new provider’s office in under an hour. For these reasons, I would not recommend Ideal Dental Georgetown.

Experiencia positiva: I hate not giving businesses 5 stars- I truly wanted to, but I can’t. Every single person I encountered there was super sweet and friendly… this is the reason I wanted to give five stars. As far as bed side and friendliness and comfort level it’s a 5. As far as competence (I’m sorry), I would say a 3 or less… I have limited dental insurance (2k cap a year) and spent some of it by going to this dentist. They missed the infection I had in there and wouldn’t send the X-rays to save me money and radiation to my local dentist when they requested it. This is despite the sweet dentist at this location telling me to find a more local dentist so it’s easier to make my appts (I just went there which is an hour away from my house because it was an emergency on a Saturday and they happened to have space). So I did what she kindly suggested and then the office wouldn’t share the X-rays so now I have to pay more out of pocket for my cleaning due to getting X-rays paid for again and I had to get more radiation in my mouth which I usually try to avoid. They also missed the diagnosis. I recently encountered a bacterial situation and knew it was an urgent infection to stop the gum loss. I never had issues with my teeth before and took good care of them. I hadn’t seen a dentist in five years and had zero cavities. Also how I noticed something was wrong/I had an infection.

Having a cavity or not having a cavity is not a difference of opinion between dental offices, it is an observation of physical reality. I don’t appreciate your disingenuousness in trying to dismiss that fact. And if you did think this all boiled down to simply a difference of opinion, there would be no reason for you to express concern, apologies, or contact the office in question. Pick a lane. I was told I had a cavity and needed 4 teeth removed, and received multiple texts and emails pushing for me to schedule this. I went for a 2nd opinion elsewhere and was told that I don’t even have a cavity, never mind needing teeth extracted. I canceled a May 9th appointment on April 2nd, well in advance. I cancelled in writing and the office responded so clearly they did see the message. I continued to receive numerous appointment reminders for weeks after the appointment was already cancelled. Then today they called me to threaten cancellation fees if they “didn’t hear back from me”. I called to emphasize that they had indeed heard from me, and already responded to my message, and the woman I spoke with at the front desk was quite rude. This on top of them not being able to keep the same dentist on staff for any length of time, it’s like a revolving door as far as that goes. This also on top of me paying hundreds of dollars for a product which they never even called me to tell me it had arrived. Then they lie to me about what procedures are needed and try to push me into unnecessary dental work. I would never go back.

Experiencia negativa: I have been very patient in leaving this review and contemplated doing so many times. I transferred service from the Pflugerville location (who was AMAZING) to this location a few years ago. Front staff has always been a little off-putting and sometimes rude, to the point where I would avoid dentist visits altogether. I recently decided to go back to get a 6 month cleaning that I had fallen behind on. During this visit, I felt ridiculed, embarrassed and shamed for the condition of my teeth and plaque build up, even though I am someone who takes great pride in cleanliness. I wouldn’t be here if my teeth were perfect, I am doing the best I can. The doctor even went as far as setting aside something from inside my mouth to look at to prove that I was somehow neglecting my teeth, and I found that incredibly off putting as I was never asked if I even wanted to see, she just sort of insisted I look. When I looked at the paper towel, I didn’t even know what I was looking at because of how minuscule it was. Weird. Lastly, I brought up concerns of my teeth shifting post- braces and was given a $5000 quote for Invisalign which I find absurd given that my entire braces weren’t even this much when my teeth actually WERE jacked up in all directions. After stating that I wasn’t interested, i was given a second quote for a night guard & retainer for much lower of $700 however was basically told if I didn’t resolve the issue, I would pay for it later on with all these other issues. People have crooked teeth all the time, so I was really turned off at what appeared to just be a money grab. After this visit, I felt it necessary to come home and search for new dentists who hopefully have staff who are 1. friendly and 2. won’t put me down about my teeth. 2 stars for actually getting the job done, thanks for that!

Experiencia negativa: First time coming to this dentist and I’m blown away with how nice and welcoming they are. I’m aware of dental issues and I never felt pressured into something I didn’t want to do, and they talked me through everything and let me know if something wasn’t covered through insurance. Can’t wait to come back for my next appointment. -editing my review a year later- Although I had a good experience during my first appointment do a cleaning, and the staff is very friendly, and what I thought would be my dentist for a long time, turned into a nightmare. I booked an urgent tooth pain appointment (I had gone to the ER prior to this), and when I walked in, they got my checked in, I waited, no biggie. They pull me back, get some X-rays, and they say nothing can be done. My pain isn’t something they can relieve, so they’re just gonna grab xrays for my future appointments to see if it’s been resolved, but gave me a pat on the back and sent me on my way. I walked out sobbing because I was in such extreme pain. I’m extremely disappointed because I’ve come here multiple times, and when I really needed help, they did nothing.

Experiencia negativa: Honestly just pretty dissatisfied with the communication in my whole process. I don’t like the way I felt pressured to get certain things done, and when I did schedule to get something done it was never communicated to me that it would take 2 sessions to completely finish. I paid to get my crown expedited only to continue to keep getting rescheduled due to this ice. I understand that the weather was out of their control but I should have been informed from the very first appointment that a crown procedure would take two sessions. I feel like I’ve wasted a lot of time and was purposefully hidden information before it was too late. Not once did I ever give them an attitude nor was I rude to them. I’d appreciate at minimum accountability for not being throughly communicated with.

Experiencia negativa: I showed up early this morning for my 11am cleaning appointment that was scheduled at my last visit this past July. It turns out staff cancelled it and scheduled another patient because they weren’t able to reach me when they called to confirm the appointment for the first time at 2pm yesterday. Do yourself a favor and avoid this sort of senseless frustration by looking elsewhere. I did call after hours and confirm I’d be there and to call if there would be any issue, but I received no call back. Dr. Mejia doesn’t value her patients nor their time.

Experiencia fantástica: My crown came off on Christmas but they managed to see me the very next day and get it back on! Everyone there was so incredibly nice (which is extra helpful since I have really bad anxiety) and very thorough.

Experiencia fantástica: Showed up expecting pain, left missing a tooth and still in a good mood. Dentist yanked that thing out quicker than a Friday paycheck disappears. Didn’t feel a thing. Staff was friendlier than a small-town gas station clerk and somehow made getting a tooth pulled feel easy. If you gotta lose a tooth, this is the place to do it.

Experiencia fantástica: At first, I was skeptical about finding a new dentist and a friend had suggested to try Ideal Dental. I’m so glad that I did because I was blessed with amazing care and they did not pressure me into anything that I wasn’t able to handle at the time. I was so grateful they were able to fit me in to another appointment time on the same day due to my lack of double checking my scheduled time! They didn’t make me feel bad about it at all and everyone was extremely kind. I highly recommend this dentist office!

The tech explained that the new equipment allowed the dentist to see potential problems even better. I received a cleaning that was outstanding. Experiencia negativa: I never really had an issue with a specific dentist… until this one. I was told that I was about to get gum disease, never have been told anything like this. Then she said i need a deep cleaning. I knew i wasn’t going to since i had never been told this before (usually i have cavities) but now seeing the reviews i see this is something they have been doing. I told the office manager i didn’t want to get that done and i was pressured to schedule an appointment regardless. I had to cancel as soon as i left.

Experiencia fantástica: Everyone is always very pleasant and friendly. Made sure I was comfortable and continously checked in with me throughout my procedure. I had to cancel one of my appointments due to illness and reception was very accommodating with rescheduling.

Experiencia negativa: Avoid coming here! All they do is try to charge for things you don’t actually need. I went in for a cleaning and they said they couldn’t do it because I needed a deep cleaning. They said my gums are receding, have gingivitis and had like 8-10 cavities! Mind you, I only get a cavity here and there my whole life with no major issues. I had a gut feeling something wasn’t right. I stopped going to my original dentist because they didn’t take an HMO plan when I changed insurance and thankfully I changed insurance again to PPO and went back to my trusted dentist. After they did my exam, guess what? No deep cleaning needed, no gingivitis, no receding gums and only 1 cavity. They are not honest with their patients and practically robbing people! Seeing all the recent reviews just confirms exactly what happened to me.

Experiencia negativa: We use to love this location but with the new Dentist Mejia we are no longer going here. She tries to push things on you that are not necessary and used intimidation tactics to try and force a deep cleaning on my husband when it was not necessary. She said she refused to do any cleaning unless he did a deep cleaning which cost significantly more. He got up and left after that. When I went in I was 4 months pregnant she seemed annoyed to not be able to do X-rays. Last time my gums were almost perfect (said from Dr Sanchez who was amazing and no longer there) and then she said they were really bad and bleeding. The amount of times I said it’s because I’m pregnant and gums bleed during pregnancy you’d think I went to dentist school. I would come back if she was not the dentist there but now we are looking for a new one.

Experiencia fantástica: If you are like me - Dentist appts, Doctor appts, Adult responsibilities in general are always hard to keep up with. I had tooth pain and scheduled an appointment with this crew for my next day off, which was a few days out. I got a courtesy call to offer me an earlier appointment due to my pain which was so thoughtful and definitely not expected. When I arrived, I was greeted with a smile by the front desk ladies - Jada and Hadassa. They were so personable and made me feel welcome. Destiny, the Dentist's Assistant was extremely efficient with my time and explained each step along the way, checking on me to make sure I was comfortable. Yall - I didn't feel rushed, like I was a bother, or just another #. They related to me, listened, and made me feel like part of the team. Dr. Mejia was FANTASTIC. Super patient and careful, explained everything thoroughly, and set me up with a treatment plan I could understand. I am so thankful to have found such a great dentist with such a perfect team. Thank you ladies so very much for making my day easier! I will be coming back and bringing my family as well - in fact, my fiance scheduled his new patient appointment that day! Great work yall.

My daughter, husband, and I all had appointments with her and had a pleasant experience from start to finish. I was particularly nervous about my daughter's first time at the dentist, but both the assistant and Dr. Mejia helped her to feel very comfortable, they even put a show on the tv for her to watch during her cleaning. They were gentle, informative, and made the appointment enjoyable for her which I was very happy about! For my husband and I, the exams were extremely thorough. I ended up needing a filling, but it was virtually painless - Dr. Mejia was very gentle and checked in with how I was doing throughout the entire process. Overall extremely satisfied! I wouldn't trust any other dentist with my family, highly recommend Dr. Mejia!

Experiencia negativa: Been going here for years, since Ruth was the doctor and she was great. Dr. Sanchez was great too. They both told me I had some staining which may need to be filled one day, but we'll just keep an eye on it for now. Today I came in for a routine cleaning and was told I need to get numbing shots today and do a deep clean on both sides. Then fillings and 3 month appointments. I asked to postpone the shots and fillings for next time and the new doctor basically rushed me out the door. She literally refused to do the scheduled cleaning without the shots and deep clean. Judging from the other recent reviews I'll be getting a 2nd opinion... Man I loved how efficient and nice this place used to be Edit: Got a 2nd opinion at another dentist, they also recommended my next appointment be 3 months but that's the only commonality. No numbing shots, no deep cleaning, no cavities. Things that make you go: Hmmmmm

Experiencia negativa: I literally will calm this place an insurance scam mill. I have one of the best dental insurance and they tried to charge me $800 for a deep clean WITH INSURANCE THEN ON TOP OF THAT THEY CHARGED ME FOT SO MANY DIFFERENT X RAYS THAT THEY DID NOT DO INCLUDING ONE THAT DOES NOT COVER MY INSURANCE WHICH CAME OUT TO $300 out of pocket . By the way at that point they charged me for 6 different X RAYS . back to the deap cleaning, they will tell you that you need antibiotics for each tooth which is clearly false . I went to 2 different dentist who said that was plain wrong and ran my insurance and both of come out to 400-450 almost 50% less than what these scam artists tried to charge me . All together they want 1200 for a deep clean and x rays which I will be reporting this place of business and with my insurance company . I don’t recommend this place at all . They will try their best to maximize all benefits from your insurance and your pockets .

Experiencia negativa: Last year they “accidentally” billed me $120 and when I called, they said oops it was a mistake. You wouldn’t have said anything if I paid it though haha. Fine, I let that slide and I came back this year. This time they were pressuring me to do a deep cleaning that I didn’t actually need. They saw a very minimal amount of gingivitis, but still refused to do the normal cleaning. Feel free to visit this location but understand that to them, you are not a patient, you are a customer.

But, the office manager came in to pressure me into doing a deep cleaning, which is a charge of $400.00. I told her I just wanted to do the regular cleaning today. She refused, said she had to protect her dentist. They may lose their license if I don’t do a deep cleanse. I believe this is a scam, based on experience. And, a total waste of my time…

Making an appointment was so easy and even though they had difficulty getting my insurance info, they were accommodating and took care of me. Experiencia negativa: They are nice, but I can't see going here for anything major. The hygenist did not know how to use a floss threader to floss around a permanant retainer. I thought it was a joke. I had to literally sit up and show someone, whom I expect to have a degree in this stuff, how to floss my teeth. That says a lot about the hiring standards at Ideal. Sweet ladies in there but I will be shopping around for a better long term dental care solution.

Experiencia negativa: Disgusting service! These corporate dentists are becoming more and more like unethical car salesmen. How much can we screw the patient and their insurance for as many services as possible. And here’s the kicker, “ it is illegal for me to perform a basic clean”. Really, show me the code that says a clean is ILLEGAL. Can I have that in writing, nope. Too busy hiding out the back! A refusal to provide me with care. Unbelievable!! Absolutely reprehensible business practices. No wonder the health system is the way it is. Do not go to this practice, no interest in patient care and no empathy. All about the bucks. Avoid this place like the plague, terribly disappointing. 2 hours I will never get back.

Experiencia fantástica: The dentist, dental assistants, and staff were wonderful. They put both of my girls (age 2 & 5) at ease. We'd been dreading making a dental appointment in fear of horor stories and the kids reactions with new people, especially in their mouths. But it was all for not! Everyone was warm and friendly and my girls are excited to go back in 6 months for their next check up. I'd given them 10 stars if I could!

I’ve had my wisdom teeth since 1993 and across the entire US, every dentist I’ve had, has either allowed me to blow off having them pulled or didn’t explain to me the easy extraction process for someone who had perfectly formed straight wisdom teeth- so, I never had them pulled. Fast forward to May 2024, I met Dr Ruth and her amazing staff. She explained to me that my teeth would just need to be pulled. Easy peasy. She listened to my concerns and we laughed at how long I had help on to my wisdom teeth which wasn’t a wise move… and set a date. June 21, I got there at 8am, left at 9. Not one moment of pain. She pulled them out and I went home. Beyond that experience, I’ve been there 3 times and each time it is fast, easy, comforting, and relaxing. Full disclosure- I do love to have my teeth cleaned and if I could would do I once a month. The staff are friendly and supportive. They are caring people who obviously love what they do. Please, if you have been putting off dental work out of fear, go see Dr Ruth. She will put you at ease immediately.

Experiencia fantástica: I love this dental office and everyone there! I struggle with extremely bad dental anxiety and normally do my best to avoid going at all costs (I know, I know). However my first appointment with Dr. Ruth and Shannon went better than I ever could’ve expected. They listened to all of my concerns and really took my anxiety into account. They did everything to make me feel comfortable and at ease. This was the absolute best thing I could’ve hoped for when scheduling this appointment! Since then, I've visited again and had another amazing experience. I’d recommend them to anyone!!! Dr. Ruth and her team are truly the sweetest.
